”It’s understood now that if you’re not performing, there’s definitely going to be a guy that can perform,” Kizer said before practice.
”But it’s on me to make sure that question never comes back up and go out there and do my job to the best of my ability and make sure No. 7 is leading this team for years to come.”

Jackson won’t commit to playing Kizer for the remainder of 2017, but he’d like to.

”I thought it was the right thing to do. In fact I know it was the right thing to do a week ago. We’ll be better for it and he’ll be better for it and hopefully we’ll see the growth from him taking a week off.”
Kizer needed a break. After throwing a league-high nine interceptions in the first five games, he was showing signs of regression and Jackson wanted to slam the brakes before things got worse.
So Kizer traded his orange helmet for a brown baseball cap and watched as Hogan threw three interceptions in Cleveland’s 33-17 loss to the Texans.
Hogan had sparked the Browns in three previous relief appearances Jaguars Tanner Lee Jersey , but in his first start as a pro he encountered some of the same problems that Kizer has had: a limited running game, inexperienced receivers and a Browns defense making critical mistakes.
While the demotion may have initially hurt, Kizer said it motivated him.
”It definitely sparked my competitive juices,” he said. ”In this league, you’ve got to talk less and do more.”
Firing up Kizer to play better wasn’t one of Jackson’s goals in benching the quarterback, but it’s a helpful byproduct.
”When you don’t get to play a lot of things happen and especially when it’s something you want really bad,” Jackson said. ”So hopefully there’s a lot of lessons learned and he’ll grow from it and come out and play as well as I think he can.”

If Luck does regain his form after missing the 2017 season following surgery on his throwing shoulder, it could make the Colts’ job one of the most attractive.
With a healthy 28-year-old, three-time Pro Bowler at quarterback, nearly $90 million in salary cap room, one of the younger teams in the league and the No. 3 draft pick, Indy has a chance to surround Luck with a better supporting cast in 2018.
But the first order of business is finding a head coach.
Neither Ballard nor Irsay discussed specific candidates on their short list and instead only cited broad parameters of what they’re seeking.
Ballard said he isn’t concerned with an offensive or defensive-minded coach.
The first evidence came Monday when Carolina defensive coordinator Steve Wilks acknowledged the Colts are one of three teams that have already requested permission to speak with him.
The prevailing wisdom is the Colts also will look at several offensive coordinators perhaps including Josh McDaniels of the Patriots, who worked with Jacoby Brissett for 18 months in New England before he was traded to Indy in early September.
Another name to watch might be Kansas City special teams coordinator Dave Toub, who worked with Ballard with the Chiefs.
Previous head coaching experience Authentic Tony Watson Jersey , Ballard said, isn’t a prerequisite, either.
But Ballard, who will lead the search, insists he wants someone who is interested in more than Luck.

And what if the candidate is concerned about Luck’s prognosis?
”Not the right fit,” Ballard reiterated. ”If he has pause, he’s not the right guy.”
Monday’s comments come three days after Luck insisted his shoulder is stronger, more stable and less painful than it was in October when his throwing program was put on hold.

”I think we made some strides, coming in from a lot of different areas,” linebacker John Simon said. ”It takes some time to jell a little bit and I think we made some progress and will continue to get better.”

Carson Wentz tossed two touchdown passes, Jalen Mills had a pick-6 and the NFL-leading Eagles beat the winless San Francisco 49ers 33-10 on a rainy Sunday.
The Eagles (7-1) overcame a slow start on their way to a sixth straight win. The 49ers are 0-8 for the first time in franchise history.

Wentz was 18 of 32 for 211 yards and one interception. He threw a 53-yard TD pass to Alshon Jeffery and 1-yard TD pass to Zach Ertz. The second-year pro leads the NFL with 19 TD passes, most by an Eagles quarterback through eight games.
C.J. Beathard shoveled a 21-yard TD pass to Matt Breida and finished 17 of 36 for 167 yards with two interceptions in his second career start.
”C.J. was battling Cheap Logan Woodside Jersey ,” Niners coach Kyle Shanahan said. ”He was in tough situations. He never shied away from anything.”
The Eagles punted on six of their first eight possessions before opening it up in the third quarter.
Wentz hit Jeffery with a perfect pass to extend the lead to 27-7. After Derek Barnett blocked Robbie Gould’s field goal, the Eagles drove 62 yards and LeGarrette Blount ran in from the 12 for a 33-7 lead.
”It’s not the way the offense wanted to play,” Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson said. ”We came out slow and didn’t execute. I’m just glad we battled because every game is not going to be perfect or look good. But we found a way to win and that’s what teams do.”
The 49ers lost five straight games by a field goal or less before Dallas routed them 40-10 last week.
”We’re a young team with a new coaching staff,” Beathard said. ”This is where you find out a lot about guys when you’re 0-8. How do you act and how do you react?”
They stayed close until Wentz’s TD pass to Ertz was followed by Mills’ interception. Mills picked Beathard’s pass at the 37 and ran it back, zig-zagging his way to the end zone. Wentz connected with Jeffery on a 2-point conversion to make it 17-0.
FOLES PLAYS
The lopsided score allowed coach Doug Pederson to give Wentz the final six minutes off and let backup Nick Foles see his first action since returning to the Eagles. Foles led Philadelphia to the NFC East title in 2013 and was traded to the Rams in 2015. He didn’t throw a pass Sunday.
CALLING OFFENSIVE LINEMEN
Shanahan said tight end Garrett Celek was the emergency tackle after starters Joe Staley and Garry Gilliam left with injuries. Gilliam already was filling in for Trent Brown.
GOING DEEP
Wentz already has five TD passes of at least 50 yards this season. Six is the most in a season in team history.
LEG STRENGTH
Eagles rookie Josh Elliott kicked a 51-yarder to set a single-season, franchise-record with five field goals of 50-plus yards. PURPOSE PITCH Following Jeffery’s TD Authentic Lamar Jackson Jersey , Ertz pretended to start a brawl by hitting Jeffery with a pitch (football) as the players continued to celebrate by playing baseball. Ertz was the pitcher, Jeffery was the batter and Wentz was the catcher.

Derek Carr threw for 300 yards and Oakland completed a two-game East Coast swing Sunday night by beating the Miami Dolphins 27-24. It was only the Raiders’ second win since Week 2, but at 4-5 they’re still in the playoff chase.
”A real solid win on the road,” coach Jack Del Rio said. ”We’re ready to get home.”

Carr went 21 for 30. His favorite target was tight end Jared Cook, who made eight catches for 126 yards.

”A lot more jokes, him talking trash to me,” Carr said. ”He’s our brother. We love him. The more we can run the ball, the more stress it takes off me. I’m all for that.”
SLIPPING TO .500
Jay Cutler returned to give Miami’s worst-in-the-NFL offense some life. After missing one game with cracked ribs, he completed his first 16 throws and finished with 311 yards passing and three scores.
The offense also overcame the recent trade of leading rusher Jay Ajayi. Running backs Kenyan Drake and Damien Williams each made six catches, and Drake had a 42-yard run to set up a touchdown.
But now the defense is showing cracks. The Dolphins have allowed 95 points in the past three games Authentic Dustin Brown Jersey , and they’re the AFC’s lone .500 team.
”Nobody wants to be 4-4,” defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh said. ”Luckily it’s halfway. We still have opportunities.”

PROTEST
Dolphins players Julius Thomas, Michael Thomas and Kenny Stills knelt during the national anthem for the first time since coach Adam Gase established a rule requiring players either to stand for the anthem or stay in the tunnel.
Before recent games, the three players waited in the tunnel. But they told Gase the wait was interfering with their game preparation, according to a person familiar with the discussions.
The person said Gase told them he preferred they stand during the anthem but respected their right to express themselves and relaxed the team rule. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the Dolphins didn’t comment on the latest protests.
