PHILADELPHIA (AP) Quarterback Matt Ryan has another shot at a happy homecoming.

A berth in the NFC championship game is at stake when Ryan leads the Atlanta Falcons (11-6) against the Philadelphia Eagles (13-3) in a divisional playoff Saturday. Ryan Authentic Brandon Parker Jersey , who grew up rooting for the Eagles and went to Philadelphia’s William Penn Charter School, is 1-3 at the Linc.

”I’m used to it now,” Ryan said about returning home. ”Playing as long as I have, I understand regardless of where we play you have to be at your best every week. The one nice part is there will be a lot of familiar faces, friendly faces after the game, which is always nice.”

Article continues below ...

Ryan had his worst game of his MVP season last year in Atlanta’s 24-15 loss in Philly on Nov. 13, 2016. He was 18 of 33 for 267 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

”Obviously Cheap Kentavius Street Jersey , there will be some scheme from that game that we’ll take, what went well and what didn’t go well and try to improve on that,” Ryan said. ”We’re a different team than we were last year when we played them and they’re a different team. It will be some carry over, but it will be a little bit different.”

Here’s some things to watch for when the teams meet in the playoffs for the first time since Philadelphia’s win over Michael Vick’s Falcons in the 2005 NFC championship game:

NICK’S UP: Nick Foles makes his fourth start since replacing Carson Wentz after the MVP candidate tore his ACL in Week 14. Foles played well in his first five quarters and struggled in the next five. He’s certainly a drop-off from Wentz, but he’s also capable of spectacular performances. Foles once tossed seven TDs in a game in 2013. He had four TDs in his first start in Week 15.

”There’s enough substance behind his career that merits having confidence,” Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich said.

`NORTHEAST’ NOISE: There’s crowd noise, and then there’s the noise generated by Philadelphia fans known for their intensity.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn seemed to search for a polite term to compare Eagles fans with the fans the team heard in last week’s wild-card win at the Los Angeles Rams.

”I’m not going to say more passionate Ravens Lamar Jackson Jersey , but I would say more Northeast,” Quinn said with a smile.

The Falcons have pumped in artificial noise in practice this week but will lean heavily on Ryan and center Alex Mack to use their experience with silent counts and hand signals.

”That’s huge,” said tight end Levine Toilolo. ”That’s where it all starts, coming off the ball, the cadence and stuff like that. We definitely work on that every week. Their fans, we’re expecting a loud crowd in a big playoff game.”

Mack said he expects Philadelphia’s fans ”to be really dedicated, really loud Vikings Jalyn Holmes Jersey , really involved. So it’s going to be a challenge just in terms of crowd noise.”

COMFORT ZONE: After leading the league in scoring in 2016, the Falcons finished the regular season 15th with first-year offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.

Atlanta averaged 22.1 points per game, down from 33.8 last season.

Ryan says he has become more comfortable with Sarkisian, especially the last two weeks in wins over Carolina and the Rams.

”I think Sark has done a great job of finding who we are week to week, specifically the last two weeks I think he’s done a great job,” Ryan said.

STOPPING JULIO: The Eagles had some success against Julio Jones in their win last year, keeping him out of the end zone but allowing 10 catches for 135 yards. Jalen Mills held him to four catches for 48 yards when he was matched up against Jones. The second-year pro is confident he can contain Jones again. Ronald Darby will have to cover Jones when he’s on his side.

”You have to think the ball is coming to him each and every play Cheap Josh Jackson Jersey ,” Mills said. ”Whether they’re having a run or a pass play, you’ve just got to think the ball is coming to him.”

MULTIPLE BACKS: Both teams have options in the backfield. The Falcons are led by Devonta Freeman, who had 865 yards rushing and seven TDs. Tevin Coleman had 628 yards rushing and five TDs. LeGarrette Blount led the Eagles with 766 yards rushing and scored two TDs. Jay Ajayi had 873 yards rushing and one TD combined with the Dolphins and Eagles. He ran for 130 yards against Atlanta in Miami’s win on Oct. 15.

CLEVELAND (AP) When all else fails Authentic Yonder Alonso Jersey , the Tennessee Titans know they can turn to Ryan Succop.

On Sunday, Mr. Automatic came through again.

”That guy’s money,” Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota said.

Succop’s fourth field goal – a 47-yarder with 1:55 left in overtime – extended his NFL record for makes inside 50 yards to 55 straight and sent the Titans to an ugly 12-9 win on Sunday over the winless Cleveland Browns, who also lost durable Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas with a triceps injury.

Succop’s clutch kick enabled the Titans (4-3) to get their second win in six days and kept them tied for first in the AFC South. Succop made five field goals in Monday night’s win over Indianapolis, and then converted on kicks from 43, 23 and 46 yards before missing a 53-yarder with 8:44 left in the fourth quarter.

However, with the Titans and Browns headed toward a tie Authentic James Washington Jersey , Succop delivered.

”We’re very fortunate to have him,” Mariota said. ”In these situations, he’s done it time and time again. When you have a guy like that it’s huge.”

Browns rookie Zane Gonzalez forced overtime by kicking a season-long 54-yard field goal with 47 seconds left in regulation to tie it 9-9. Gonzalez added kicks of 31 and 47 yards.

But the Browns (0-7) committed 12 penalties and dropped to 1-22 in two seasons under coach Hue Jackson, whose future is becoming less certain. Cleveland’s troubles worsened as Thomas, a 10-time Pro Bowler, missed his first play in 11 seasons.

Thomas went out with a triceps injury that snapped his streak of 10,363 consecutive offensive plays. The No. 3 pick in 2007 has been the lone bright spot over the past decade for Cleveland’s franchise http://www.newyorkjetsteamonline.com/chris-herndon-jersey , and seeing him leave in distress added more pain for Cleveland fans at the end of their ropes.

Thomas will undergo an MRI on Monday and it’s not known how long he may be sidelined.

”I’m definitely proud getting over that 10,000 milestone,” Thomas said. ”I knew it wasn’t an infinity streak. I was enough of a realist to understand that. It was just a matter of time.

Tennessee safety Kevin Byard had three interceptions – two off rookie DeShone Kizer, who was benched in the second half by Jackson for Cody Kessler.

In overtime, Tennessee’s Brian Orakpo and Derrick Morgan combined to sack Kessler inside the Cleveland 10.

The Titans took over near midfield and following a few short runs, Titans coach Mike Mularkey put the outcome on the foot of Succop, who pulled his initial attempt wide left as play stopped for the two-minute warning.

”We heard the whistle Chargers Justin Jones Jersey ,” Succop said. ”I thought it was a timeout. I didn’t know it was the two-minute warning. I wasn’t necessarily trying to make it. I was just trying to see what the wind was doing.”

But there was no doubt on his next kick, sending the Titans victoriously into their bye week.

”There’s a big trust factor there,” Mularkey said. ”He came through when it counted.”

Tennessee’s offense sputtered all day as Mariota couldn’t get anything going despite Cleveland missing two starters in the secondary. Mariota finished 21 of 34 for 203 yards.

Cleveland’s quarterback issues remain paramount. Kizer started after a one-week benching because of turnovers. He threw two picks before Jackson had seen enough, pulling him for Kessler, who was inactive for the first six games after making eight starts last season as a rookie.

Kizer was 12 of 20 for 114 yards. Kessler 10 of 19 for 121.

Jackson defended his decision to sit Kizer, who has thrown 11 interceptions already.

”I can’t worry about confidence,” Jackson said. ”You guys keep talking about confidence. We are in the business of winning games. This is a performance-based business. If you turn the football over in the National Football League http://www.sanfrancisco49ersteamonline.com/korey-toomer-jersey , you cannot play. It is just that simple. Everybody keeps talking about confidence.

”I am not worried about confidence. I have 52 other guys in there to worry about their confidence and trying to win.”

INJURIES

Titans: TE Delanie Walker was carted off the field early in overtime with a sprained right ankle following a 16-yard reception. He had seven receptions for 63 yards. … G Quinton Spain was taken to the locker room in the second quarter with an unspecified injury. Brian Schwenke replaced him on the left side.

Browns: DT Trevor Coley (stinger) was hurt in the fourth quarter, but was cleared to return.

PENALTIES

Cleveland’s long list of infractions included four false starts and an offside on the opening kickoff.

”We are undisciplined,” Jackson said. ”That is a direct reflection of me, and it disappoints me to no end.”

BRITT’S ISSUES

Browns wide receiver Kenny Britt had two catches for 7 yards. He was sent home and fined last week for missing a curfew in Houston. After he failed to come up with a pass in OT, Britt stayed on the field and appeared hurt. Cleveland fans booed him when he got to his feet.

NEW YORK (AP) NFL players and owners held an unusual meeting Tuesday to discuss social issues Authentic Justin Upton Jersey , a session both sides termed positive and productive.

What was not discussed at any length was the divisive topic of the national anthem that has caught the attention of President Donald Trump.

”We spent today talking about issues that the players are trying to bring attention to,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said. ”That was the entire focus.”

Article continues below ...

Asked if the players committed to standing during the anthem, Goodell responded: ”We did not ask for that.”

Trump criticized the NFL again Wednesday on Twitter, writing that ”The NFL has decided that it will not force players to stand for the playing of our National Anthem. Total disrespect for our great country!”

A group of 11 owners and more than a dozen players met for more than two hours at the league’s headquarters. Among the topics discussed was enhancing the players’ platforms for speaking out on social issues.

”We heard what they had to say and they heard us,” Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said. ”It’s open talks and that’s a good thing.”

The NFL’s policy on the national anthem did not come up. That policy states that the players ”should” stand for the anthem, and some have suggested the league would seek to change that to ”must” stand. Goodell said in a memo to the teams last week that the NFL prefers for players to stand during ”The Star-Spangled Banner.”

”Very little of the meeting was about the actual anthem,” Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said. ”We were really more talking about solutions and how we get the results that we want to get.”

Ross called the session ”constructive,” and Colts defensive back Darius Butler termed it ”positive.”

Goodell spoke briefly before heading to further league meetings. He emphasized the commitment on the part of the players and the NFL ”to work together on issues of social justice.”

”Our players are men of great character,” he added, ”and they have a deep understanding and tremendous knowledge of the issues going on in all our communities. This is something our owners said we want to support you in.”

Butler Authentic Alex McGough Jersey , who played Monday night in Nashville before attending the meeting hours later, said both sides are headed in the right direction. He said the players delivered ”our perspective. Obviously it’s a different perspective. I think that’s the most important thing when it comes to these issues is perspective and respecting everyone’s rights regardless of how they feel.”

The players’ union and the league issued a joint statement just before the annual fall owners meetings began. The owners meetings continue Wednesday, when the anthem could be discussed.

”Today owners and players had a productive meeting focused on how we can work together to promote positive social change and address inequality in our communities,” the statement said. ”NFL executives and owners joined NFLPA executives and player leaders to review and discuss plans to utilize our platform to promote equality and effectuate positive change. We agreed that these are common issues and pledged to meet again to continue this work together.

”As we said last week, everyone who is part of our NFL community has a tremendous respect for our country, our flag, our anthem and our military. In the best American tradition, we are coming together to find common ground and commit to the hard work required for positive change.”

On hand at the meeting were Goodell and the league’s football operations chief, former player Troy Vincent; and owners Michael Bidwill (Arizona), Arthur Blank (Atlanta) Authentic Joseph Noteboom Jersey , Terry Pegula (Buffalo), Robert McNair (Houston), Shad Khan (Jacksonville), Ross, Robert Kraft (New England), John Mara (New York Giants), Art Rooney (Pittsburgh), Jeffrey Lurie (Philadelphia) and Jed York (San Francisco).

Representing the players were NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, union president Eric Winston, former player Anquan Boldin Cheap D.J. Fluker Jersey , and current players Butler (Indianapolis), Russell Okung (Los Angeles Chargers), Kenny Stills, Julius Thomas and Michael Thomas (Miami), Mark Herzlich (New York Giants), Kelvin Beachum and Demario Davis (New York Jets), Jenkins and Chris Long (Philadelphia), Eric Reid (San Francisco) and Josh Norman (Washington).

Jenkins has been one of the leading spokesmen among the players, as well as highly active in the community. He said the discussion was about ”everything to do with the state of the NFL now, obviously anthem protests Cheap Johnny Townsend Jersey , activism that players have been doing, and how we can move this forward to really amplify players’ voices and amplify these issues and make some long sustainable changes.”

”I’m not sure we’re close to a resolution, but conversations are ongoing,” he added. ”It went from just phone calls to obviously this is the first time meeting. So I don’t think we could come up with a whole plan and solution in two hours, but we are happy that these things are happening. We’re looking forward to the opportunity to really put a good plan together.”

Earlier, outside of the hotel where the owners are meeting, two dozen supporters of Black Lives Matter New York held a rally backing the players for speaking out – particularly former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick for kneeling during the anthem last year in protest of racial injustice in America. A defensive coordinator’s dilemma.

On Saturday, the 48 voters for the Pro Football Hall of Fame face a similar complexity. Is Moss, in his first year of eligibility for the Canton, Ohio, shrine, worthy of induction? And what about T.O., in his third year on the ballot? Or Bruce Cheap Tracy Walker Jersey , in his fourth year.

Article continues below ...

How about all of them?

The two dynamic and sometimes controversial wide receivers and the always-reliable and often spectacular Bruce are among 15 modern-era candidates. From that group, no more than five will be selected.

Also being considered are first-year eligibles linebackers Ray Lewis and Brian Urlacher, and guard Steve Hutchinson. Other finalists are running back Edgerrin James; center Kevin Mawae; safeties John Lynch and Brian Dawkins; guard Alan Faneca; tackles Joe Jacoby and Tony Boselli; and cornerbacks Ty Law and Everson Walls.

The senior nominees are linebacker Robert Brazile and guard Jerry Kramer. In the contributor’s committee it is Bobby Beathard.

Much of the attention will be paid to the guys who caught the ball extremely well. Moss and Owens made the Team of the Decade for the 2000s. Bruce’s TD reception won the 2000 Super Bowl for the Rams against the Titans.

Owens has been a lightning rod because despite impressive career numbers, he’s failed twice to get the necessary 80 percent for induction.

”I think it diminishes the reputation and the credibility the Hall of Fame is really revered for,” Owens says of not being elected for what he believes are ”character” reasons.

”I have kind of just moved on from it. Me not getting in first time – and everybody else said at the same time, I should have been in – and even the second time, I have been in (contention) – I am very fortunate and blessed to have played the game as long as I did considering I thought I would never play beyond the college level.”

Owens played for five teams in 15 pro seasons, having the most success with San Francisco and Dallas Authentic Brad Boxberger Jersey , losing a Super Bowl with Philadelphia. Each of his stints in those cities – he also was with Buffalo and Cincinnati – didn’t end well.

”Early in my career when I was an adolescent and teenager, I had self-esteem issues,” he explains. ”I had to get out of that. You have to believe in yourself in order to progress in order to do anything in your life. No matter what, I am not going to look at the Hall of Fame as a platform to kind of validate what I did in my career.”

Nor does Moss, who spent 14 NFL seasons with five clubs, having his best years with Minnesota and New England. He was the 1998 Offensive Rookie of the Year with the Vikings, and in 2007 helped the Patriots go undefeated until they fell to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

Like Owens, Moss also had some run-ins with teammates Authentic Lamar Jackson Jersey , opponents, coaches and executives. Whether that affects him as Owens believes it has impacted him for Hall of Fame consideration remains to be seen.

”Going through college and my first couple years in the league, I never looked at the Hall of Fame or at the (gold) jackets,” Moss says. ”I loved and enjoyed the game. As I retired, now on my fifth year and up as a finalist, now is the time I really looked at, `Am I Hall of Fame worthy? Will I get the nod?’

”Through my playing career, the Hall of Fame was not in my equation. I just enjoyed coming to the stadium and being around my teammates and just competing.”

Moss admits there might be some nerves Saturday.

”It’s kind of like you going into court and being in front of a jury http://www.detroitlionsteamonline.com/kerryon-johnson-jersey , the fate is in their hands,” he says. ”I don’t have a vote.

”What I will do is be around close family and friends and just wait it out. … I guess your overall final accomplishment for playing in the NFL is the gold jacket. Some nervousness will come in.

”I think I am worthy of getting in on the first ballot, but if not, you win some, you lose some. If the Hall of Fame is my final stop, I am definitely honored to be part of it.”

PITTSBURGH (AP) Another uninspiring half in the books in a season littered with them for a team that expects to play deep into January and beyond Authentic Evgeny Kuznetsov Jersey , Ben Roethlisberger decided he had seen enough.

So the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback decided it was time to speak up. The defense had kept the Tennessee Titans and star Marcus Mariota in check, yet a game that had the makings of a blowout didn’t feel like one mostly because the offense kept squandering chance after chance.

No more.

Article continues below ...

”He didn’t call anyone out, he called all of us out,” guard David DeCastro said. ”Linemen. Receivers. Himself. Running backs. Purely positive. It was a challenge. He challenged us. The guys responded.”

None better than the 35-year-old Roethlisberger. Running the no-huddle offense to near perfection, Roethlisberger threw for 299 yards and four touchdowns Authentic Hayden Hurst Jersey , three to Antonio Brown, as the Steelers pulled away for a 40-17 victory.

”I don’t care if you’re old or young, just someone has to step up and make a play for this team or else we are going to keep relying on our defense,” said Roethlisberger, who went 20 of 23 for 185 yards and three touchdowns in the second half. ”It is time that we step up and do something.”

Brown caught 10 passes for 144 yards and the three scores Authentic Kennys Vargas Jersey , including an acrobatic grab in the back of the end zone in which he pinned the ball to his helmet before bringing it in to put Pittsburgh up 20 in the fourth quarter as the Steelers set a season-high for points and margin of victory.

”We’ve talked so much about having the potential in this room, but we can still strive for more,” said defensive end Cam Heyward, who had two of Pittsburgh’s five sacks. ”We’re a hungry group that still has a lot to prove. We’re chasing ghosts. We’re trying to be the best defense. That’s what we strive for.”

For long stretches, the Steelers (8-2) looked the part while extending their winning streak to five.

Though Mariota ran for a touchdown and threw for another Authentic Cassius Marsh Jersey , he was also picked off a career-high four times as the Titans (6-4) saw their four-game winning streak come to a crashing halt. Mariota finished 22 of 33 for 306 yards but was under pressure much of the night.

”When you play teams that are this caliber that are contenders, that win week in and week out, that’s the blueprint,” Mariota said. ”We’re going to learn from it. We’re going to get better from it and hopefully we’ll see them again.”

There’s plenty to work on. Tennessee appeared to be in it when Mariota found Matthews with a 75-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second half to get to 16-14.

Then Roethlisberger and the NFL’s highest-paid offense got going. Finally. Roethlisberger dropped some very not subtle hints that he wanted the freedom provided by the no-huddle after the Steelers used it to pick the Colts apart during the winning drive last Sunday in Indianapolis.

Offensive coordinator Todd Haley appeared to be listening.

Pittsburgh opened in the no huddle and needed just six plays to take the lead as Roethlisberger took advantage of a free play and hit Brown with a 41-yard rainbow. Mike Hilton then returned Mariota’s interception to set up the first of Chris Boswell’s four field goals and the Steelers appeared on the verge of another prime-time blowout at home.

The blowout did eventually arrive, just not quickly.

The offense ground to a halt for the rest of the half http://www.cincinnatibengalsteamonline.com/logan-woodside-jersey , held in check by former defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau. The Hall of Famer spent 12 years building a defense that helped Pittsburgh to two Super Bowl victories before being ushered out in favor of protege Keith Butler in January 2015. The 80-year-old is in the middle of his latest project with the steadily improving Titans.

Yet the gap between Tennessee and Pittsburgh remains significant. The proof came after Mathews’ long catch-and-run appeared to give the Titans momentum.

The Steelers reeled off three straight touchdown drives. Roethlisberger found a leaping Brown for a 5-yard score restored a nine-point lead, executed a perfect play-action fake at the goal line before flipping it to a wide-open Jesse James for a 1-yard strike and put the Titans away with a lob to the back corner of the end zone that Brown somehow hauled in from 10 yards out that made it 37-17.

Pittsburgh rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster knelt down and bowed to Brown during the giddy celebration. Hard to blame the 20-year-old. For the first time all season, the Steelers put it all together and looked every bit like a team with a legitimate threat to live up to its own hype.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Frank Reich did some of his most memorable work in relief.

He engineered the biggest comeback in NFL playoff history while pinch-hitting for Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly. He orchestrated the second-largest comeback in college football history after spending three years as Boomer Esiason’s understudy. Heck Authentic Nathan Shepherd Jersey , he even won a Super Bowl with a backup quarterback.

So when the Indianapolis Colts offered Reich a chance to be their second choice as head coach, the super sub figured it was the perfect it.

Article continues below ...

”The backup role has suited me well in my career,” Reich joked Tuesday at his introductory news conference at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Reich inherits a team that went 4-12 in 2017, missed the playoffs for the third straight year and was desperately trying to remove an embarrassing stain following last week’s announcement that New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels would not take the Colts’ job.

This time, team owner Jim Irsay made sure the Colts weren’t caught off-guard again. Shortly after team officials confirmed the deal Sunday, the team posted a photo on Twitter of Reich signing a five-year deal at Irsay’s house.

As it turns out, the Colts may have gotten a better fit with Reich anyway.

While general manager Chris Ballard acknowledged making a mistake by not including Reich on his original short list, Irsay went even further after former team president Bill Polian Authentic Logan Couture Jersey , former coach Tony Dungy and Peyton Manning all called with glowing endorsements about Reich.

”The more I think about it, the more I think how could you be so stupid and not see the clarity of it sooner?” Irsay said.

But Reich sure didn’t make it easy for the Colts or anyone else conducting a coaching search, instructing his agent not to bother him with interview requests as he prepared for the playoffs.

The result of going ”dark” during both postseason bye weeks: Reich won a Super Bowl as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator and got the dream job from a team that gave him his first coaching break in 2006 as an intern.

Indy is getting a coach who is nearly the opposite of Chuck Pagano, who was fired just hours after the Colts’ regular-season finale.

Pagano arrived with a defensive pedigree and often cited the Ravens’ playoff loss after the 2011 season for being the reason he got the job. While Pagano, a cancer survivor, said all the right things during his six-year tenure, his last three seasons were marred by penalties, mistakes Authentic Will Butcher Jersey , inconsistency and an inability to close out games.

Reich, in contrast, has been a position coach with Manning and Phillip Rivers as well as Larry Fitzgerald and Reggie Wayne. Plus, he was in charge of the offense that turned Carson Wentz into an MVP front-runner and Nick Foles into a Super Bowl MVP.

The resume, and the Super Bowl win, were likely to make Reich one of the league’s hottest coaching candidates next year. But the McDaniels fiasco gave the Colts a second chance to get ahead of the curve – without anyone to compete against.

”Our vision matched in terms of people, the process of the way we wanted to play the game both on offense and defense and that’s not always the case,” Ballard said. ”I’m not a coach anymore Authentic Matt Adams Jersey , but I do have a vision of how I think the team should play.”

Ballard didn’t even have to make a hard sales pitch.

He said Reich never asked about Andrew Luck’s health status, noting he only volunteered the medical background at the end of their discussion. Luck still hasn’t thrown a football since October and his rehab from a partially torn labrum will enter its 13th month next week, which was supposed to be the biggest uncertainty about Indy’s job.

Reich also met with the three assistant coaches hired for McDaniels’ staff and said he was impressed as much with them as he was by the Colts’ commitment to honor their contracts. He did not drop hints about any other hires though he did say he intends to call plays – something he did not do in Philadelphia.

What he does have is a four-pronged approach to the game that he expects the Colts to follow: Play with toughness, discipline, unity and deliver late knockout blows.

And he intends to show the Colts he should have been their first choice all along.

”I was not going to chase after anything, so when Josh decided not to take it, I did not call my agent. I was thinking `I hope they call, I really do. But if not Cheap Sylvester Williams Jersey , we’re going back to work,”’ Reich said. ”Actually, I’m hoping we get used to this (February schedule), coming off a Super Bowl and then playing catch-up with the rest of the league.”
