in the middle of the Titans-Packers preseason game Harold Landry (deservedly) is getting all the hype Customized Tennessee Titans Jerseys , but I couldn’t help but notice another rookie pass rusher on Thursday night. Sharif Finch’s college career at Temple started as a 218 pound freshman linebacker. Four years, a position change, and multiple knee injuries later, he was a 6’-4”, 251 pound edge rusher hoping to finally break out. His final year for the Owls saw him rack up 8.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss while finally staying off the trainer’s table. Not only were the numbers good, but the tape shows a guy that had developed an impressive array of pass rush moves. He added to that a pro day where he put up an impressive 4.65-second 40 and a 7.00-second 3-cone time, but that still wasn’t enough to get drafted. He landed in Tennessee quickly after the draft as an undrafted free agent and was given the largest signing bonus of any UDFA the Titans signed. Finch made some noise in camp early before being sidelined briefly with a — you guessed it — undisclosed injury for a few days. However, he returned in time to play www.authenticstennesseetitans.com , and play well, in Green Bay. The sack that he picked up during the Packers first drive of the second half was the highlight, but after further review, Finch’s impact went much further than that. Check out this sequence of pass rushes from Finch during the last drive of the first half. Finch is #56, lined up across from Green Bay’s right tackle — and former Titan — Byron Bell. He had just entered the game to replace the injured Gimel President. Just a couple plays after entering the game, Finch buzzes around the edge with a dip and bend move — AKA “The Harold Landry” — and flushes Packers QB DeShone Kizer out of the pocket disrupting the play. Finch doesn’t quite have the flexibility of Landry — few do as Landry literally drags his inside hand over the top of the turf when he bends — but this is a pretty effective rush from Finch just plays after entering the game.NFL Game PassAfter setting Bell up by flashing the speed move around the edge, Finch comes back with an inside counter on the very next snap and catches his opponent over-setting. Kizer gets a quick pass away, but Finch is right there and finishes with a hit on Kizer. Also make sure you check out Julius Warmsley’s rush here right next to Finch. There is a reason he’s getting camp buzz.NFL Game PassAfter punishing Bell for over-setting against the speed Tennessee Titans T-Shirt , Finch comes back with the speed on the very next play. This time going with a club-rip combo to soften the edge against Bell and turn the corner. Again, Kizer gets the ball away, but you can see by his awkward follow through that he is affected by Finch’s rush. NFL Game PassJust a few plays later, Finch gives us the true masterpiece of this series. He catches Bell setting to far outside again and hits him with the “hump move” as made famous by Reggie White, using his inside arm to essentially toss his opponent out of the way. It takes a pretty special level of strength to be able to execute this against an NFL offensive lineman (even Byron Bell). It’s rare to see this pulled off in a game, but Finch does and finishes again in Kizer’s face as he releases.NFL Game PassA couple snaps later, Finch shows yet another pass rush move as he hits Bell with an inside spin and again winds up in Kizer’s face. NFL Game PassOn the next snap — this is all still from the same drive — Finch uses yet another move as he goes with a straight bull rush and walks Bell back in to Kizer’s feet, flushes the quarterback from the pocket Tennessee Titans Hats , and draws a holding penalty as Bell tries to keep him from finishing the job. NFL Game PassThe first six plays above were all from the same drive at the end of the first half. Unfortunately, the coverage let Finch down a little bit during that sequence, otherwise he could have had multiple sacks there. However, Finch was rewarded during the first drive of the second half. This time Finch knifes inside of the tight end’s block on a play action pass and is there for the sack — despite getting held — when Brynden Trawick’s blitz forces Kizer to step up in the pocketNFL Game PassFinch finished his day later in that drive with one last pressure, chopping and then bending the edge against another tackle. This time the coverage forces Kizer off his first and second reads and allows Finch to close, nearly getting the sack and forcing a dangerous in to the middle of the field. NFL Game PassFrom here, the Titans mostly stuck with Josh Carraway and Tobenna Okeke as the edge rushers in mop up duty. President’s unfortunate injury means that Finch now slots in as the 5th edge rusher behind Brian Orakpo, Derrick Morgan Tennessee Titans Hoodie , Harold Landry, and Aaron Wallace based on the current rotations. If he’s able to hold on to that spot against Carraway, Okeke, and new additions Tony Washington and Davond Dade, that should be good enough to make the 53-man roster.I posted some of these clips on Twitter Saturday night as I was going through the tape and Finch had a pretty funny response.Obviously, Byron Bell isn’t going to be mistaken for a starting level NFL tackle these days, but the variety of pass rush moves that Finch used effectively in a game situation — and the way he set them up off each other — was very impressive. I’ll be interested to see if he gets some reps higher in the rotation to see what he can do against tougher competition. As I mentioned above, Finch has looked good in camp practices as well Youth Customized Tennessee Titans Jerseys , so this isn’t just a one night hot streak. His position coach, Shane Bowen, has certainly taken notice. If Finch is able to continue to play at or near this level against better players, the Titans could have a real gem on their hands. Keep an eye on 56 on Saturday night. So much good news on the injury front today! Mike Vrabel said after practice today that he doesn’t anticipate having to limit Marcus Mariota going forward. We might finally get to see the offense Matt LaFleur wants to run because it appears that Jack Conklin will be ready to play this week:OH BABY.The news is also good on Adoree Jackson. While he is still in the concussion protocol, he was able to practice today. Jackson still has to be cleared by the independent doctor, but it sounds like he could be ready to return in full as early as tomorrow.Dennis Kelly missed practice again today as he is still recovering from the illness that had him hospitalized before the Texans game. Rishard Matthews wasn’t at practice today. He was excused for personal reasons. Ryan Succop missed practice today with knee tendinitis, but it doesn’t sound like he is in jeopardy of missing any game action:The Titans were decimated by injuries in their first three games and went 2-1. I cannot wait to see what this team can do when it is finally healthy!

The Titans get a week to rest Womens Ryan Succop Jersey ,  at the expense of other teams for a change. But if you don’t want to do that, I’ve complied a list of intriguing games to watch if you’re fortunate enough to have NFL Red Zone or Gamepass, because not all of them are available at once. So let’s take a look at the best matchups from Week 8 as the Titans get a bye.Eagles-JaguarsThese have been the two disappointing teams of 2018, and coincidentally both teams lost to the Titans. This London matchup features an Eagles team with strong quarterback play from Carson Wentz but a terrible offensive line and secondary and a Jaguars team with Blake Bortles at quarterback and a loaded defense that is poorly coached.Bortles usually saves his best games for England, but has he ever earned anyone’s trust at quarterback? I don’t think so. With Leonard Fournette out (again) we’ll get to see Carlos Hyde’s debut as a Jaguar, but I’m not to thrilled as he’s going up against a great defensive line, albeit one that lost Derek Barnett for the season.Since his return to the Eagles Alshon Jeffery has been balling, as has Zach Ertz, but with a Jaguars pass rush led by studs such as Yannick Ngakoue (having potentially a career year), it’s going to be tough for a struggling Eagles offensive line to keep up. This is played on a neutral site, but who knows, perhaps Bortles actually plays like an NFL quarterback this week.I guess I’ll take the Eagles, but I won’t be surprised if the Jaguars win, because it’s been that kind of year.Seahawks-LionsNone of us thought the Seahawks would make it to second place in the NFC West http://www.titanscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-taylor-lewan-jersey , yet here they are at that after the 49ers were hit by injuries and had their defense consistently lay eggs, as they have the least amount of takeaways in the league with three. After a horrendous start to the season the Lions are suddenly in the mix in the NFC North thanks to an excellent trio of wide receivers, the emergence of rookie running back Kerryon Johnson and an offensive line that’s become one of the best on the season. The Lions trading for Damon “Snacks” Harrison was astute, as they traded a fifth-rounder for an elite run stopper going up against a team that always wants to establish the run. Incredibly, the Seahawks offensive line, while still bad, has not been overwhelmingly bad like it has been in previous years, and on defense Frank Clark is putting up the best season of his career in a contract year.So Seattle’s defense has been decent even in the aftermath of breaking up the Legion of Boom, and they face a test in Detroit’s offense. Matthew Stafford, after an ugly first two games, has put together a solid stretch of play, and Kenny Golladay, Golden Tate and Marvin Jones provide an outrageously talented and diverse wide receiving trio.Russell Wilson has been inconsistent this season, but still has many tricks up his sleeve and will be a reason why Seattle should be competitive in this one. Still Cheap Kevin Byard Jersey , I think Detroit takes this one.Ravens-PanthersTitans fans got to witness first hand how incredible the Ravens defense is in that week 6 home shut out. The offense, with a revamped receiving corps and an actually inspired Joe Flacco, has found new life. On the flip side, the Panthers probably aren’t a good team, but they’re “good” in that they have a great quarterback with a good scheme and an offensive line that isn’t killing him for a change. They’ve stumbled their way into close games as a result. Both teams need a win to stay in their respective divisional races, but Carolina clearly needs it more since the red hot Saints offense plays in the NFC South. Their receiving corps has improved but isn’t outstanding, and outside from afew standout guys like Luke Kuechly and Donte Jackson the defense isn’t that scary. Cam Newton has been playing excellent as of late, though, so the Panthers have a shot. The issues on offense and defense for Carolinawould explain why the Ravens are road favorites. While the defense doesn’t include “big” names, there’s quality and depth at practically every position. On offense, John Brown has been a steal on a 1-year, $5 million contract, and with Flacco playing like he cares the offense is anchored less than it was in the past.So I’d probably have Baltimore winning, but this should be a fun matchup.Packers-RamsThis essentially is an injured Aaron Rodgers vs the Rams. Despite a largely ineffective defense and worse offensive line Cheap Marcus Mariota Jersey , the Packers have three wins on the season in a tight NFC North race. The Rams are 7-0 thanks to star players like Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks, the offensive line, and Aaron Donald. There’s not much to say about this other than Rodgers being with the Packers will make this fun. It’ll be interesting to see what Donald does against the Packers offensive line, since he had four sacks, six tackles for a loss and five quarterback hits last week against the 49ers.But yeah I’ll take the Rams here. But having Rodgers in it is always fun, right?Saints-VikingsNow for the game of the week. Despite an awful defense, the Saints are 5-1 on the year, with Drew Brees and company lighting it up on offense. After losing their way for a bit after a loss to the Bills, the Vikings defense is back, and now they get Everson Griffen back in time for Sunday’s matchup.New quarterback Kirk Cousins is playing the best football of his career. While some bone headed mistakes rear their ugly head in from time to time, his play under pressure has taken a big step up Ryan Succop Jersey , and his chemistry with arguably the best wide receiver in football in Adam Thielen has been much greater than I had expected. Drew Brees is an MVP candidate right now, and his accuracy and consistency are as sharp as usual. With a loaded cast of skill players in Michael Thomas, Tre-Quan Smith, Taysom Hill, Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram, and perhaps the best offensive line in the league, it’s been easy for Sean Payton to provide an intense, highly entertaining scheme. They’ll need it against a Minnesota defense that’s found their groove once again and is getting one of the best pass rushers in football back.Oh yeah, and it’s a battle between the two teams involved in the Minneapolis Miracle. Anyway, the Vikings offensive line has returned to being brutal, but so has the Saints defense, so something has to give. I might take the Vikings to win this one. Looking forward to it. Yesterday we looked at the Titans impending free agents and discussed if they should be re-signed or allowed to hit the market. Today we look at the guys that are currently under contract that aren’t performing to the number they are set to make in 2019. Before we do that, we need to look at the Titans current cap situation. Mike did a great job of breaking it down here Jurrell Casey Jersey , but I am not as smart as Mike so I will just tell you that the Titans currently have almost $43.5 million in cap space as we sit here today according to Over the Cap. That is plenty of room for maneuvering, but the way I see it, they have a pretty easy path to quite a bit more space. The first two guys that should be cut are Ben Jones and Johnathan Cyprien. Now, before I get into the numbers that would free up, I want to say that Jones and Cyprien have both been really good for this team. They are both guys that seem to be really good team guys that are willing to do whatever it takes to get a win. That is what would make a decision like this tough. It was a whole lot easier to cut Chris Johnson a few years back when it was clear he had mailed it in.With that being said, cutting those 2 guys would save the Titans $9.75 million in cap space while leaving only about $2.4 million in dead money. The next guy I would cut is Blaine Gabbert. That is an easier call because he isn’t good. That move would give the Titans another $1.5 million in cap room, but again, this is about a guy that doesn’t really help you.Your thoughts?

at Titans +3. It has moved all the way to Titans -1. That is interesting. It is also interesting that the total in this game is up .5 even with the nasty weather that is expected to be happening during the game. As Mike mentioned here http://www.tennesseetitansteamonline.com/quinton-spain-jersey , that’s probably because neither team really pushes the ball down the field that often. It sounds like a Derrick Henry type of day.The playoff picture is pretty simple for the Titans- they have to win out. The Titans can eliminate the Broncos with a win today. That leaves just the Steelers/Ravens (whoever doesn’t win the AFC North), the Dolphins, and the Colts as the competition for the #6 seed. The full playoff picture is broken down here. Here is everything you need to know about watching the game:Nuts and boltsLocation: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJGame time: Sunday, December 16, 2018 | 12:00 p.m. CentralTV channel: CBSAnnouncers: Greg Gumbel Authentic Dion Lewis Jersey , Trent Green, Bruce AriansOnline Stream/Replay: NFL GamepassLine: Titans -1If you are new here, Welcome! Terry will have inactives around 10:30. We will use this as our open thread to discuss the game, and then I will have a quick recap as soon as the game is over.GO TITANS!! Week to week since the Philadelphia game, Titans fans have been wondering what happened to the offense. Can OC Matt LaFleur and the Titans offense finally get on track and produce points in London?Bring Back RPOLet’s face it - it’s time to bring back and implement the RPO. Yes, flip to some plays in a section of the playbook that initially injured Marcus Mariota’s throwing hand, kept him out a week and caused him to wear a special glove for most of the season so far. It’s a risk Womens Ben Jones Jersey , but the reward is worth it. The reward is offensive points being scored. Without the threat of Mariota utilizing his legs on designed run-pass-options, defenses are scheming to keep Mariota within arms reach and allowing a pocket to form. The problem is, the pocket is allowed to form just long enough for Mariota to feel a few seconds of rush-delayed play progression reading before the entire pocket collapses from both the inside and outside. By teasing Mariota with a few seconds of comfort, defenses transform and have been executing calculated delayed blitzed that have been difficult for the offense line to adapt and react to. How can an offense neutralize a delayed blitz? By being decisive in their attack. With the RPO, the Titans will have three decisive options. Mariota is best when he has to cycle through his progression or read with urgency and he tends to make the right decisions. It’s when he’s given too much time that he struggles finding an escape route on the delayed pass rush attacks.A few dialed up Mariota keepers early will force the defense to rethink their plan of attack. This can buy the Titans offense time to adjust to the defenses re-adjustments. More of the calculated passing offense can be implemented once the defense doesn’t have their ears pinned back.It certainly helps that Joey Bosa isn’t lining up on Sunday morning. Start Lewis, Feed HenryIn a piece I wrote earlier this week, I proposed the idea for LaFleur to start Dion Lewis but feed Derrick Henry. By reversing their usage Authentic Jayon Brown Jersey , it may also reverse their production. It’s easier said than done and many believe Henry should make the most of the carries he’s given. That’s true and he is trying, but he is not the type of back that can warm-up, go cold for a quarter and a half and then return into the game with the expectation that he’ll set the field ablaze. Instead, the opposite is true in regards to Lewis. He doesn’t need volume carries to get going and he doesn’t need a warm up period to be a catalyst for his effectiveness. With Henry, if the bulk of his usage is in the latter half of each quarter it could boost his production. By that time, the offensive line will have a good feel for what the defense is trying to do. LaFleur will see what the defense is doing and can dial up the right play for Henry to potentially have a big gain. When Henry lines up for the first series, the same thing happens each time. The defense sells out to stop the run www.titansfootballauthentics.com , will use press man coverage due to not being intimidated by the Titans receivers and promising offensive drives stall out early. The Titans (with the exception of the Philly game this season) aren’t a come from behind team. Truthfully, they never have been. Especially when teams jump out ahead by two or three scores early, the offensive output historically just hasn’t been enough. The Chargers are a team that can get ahead by a pair of scores early and the defense will aim to shut down the run and challenge the receivers in one-on-one. Offensively, the Titans have to find the end zone. By incorporating the RPO, flipping the usage of Lewis and Henry and producing drives that allow the Titans defense a change to catch their breath a win is possible. A win is out of the question if the Titans offense replicates their production from the previous games against Buffalo and Baltimore. This team cannot afford another AFC loss. A win heading into the bye will be good for the confidence - and for the standings.

Titans’ general manager Jon Robinson sit still http://www.authenticstennesseetitans.com/cheap-ben-jones-jersey , it was pretty important that his roster began to show some sort of offensive progress. Early on in Dallas, we didn’t see that. It was Marcus Mariota fumbling after immediate pressure was given up by Jack Conklin, then Dion Lewis coughed it up on the following drive. Two quick turnovers gave the Cowboys a shot to blow this thing open early, but luckily for the Titans, Brett Maher missed a field goal and Dak Prescott threw a pick in the endzone.Somehow, Tennessee escaped a disastrous start down just 7-0. It took a quarter, but the offense finally settled in. Marcus Mariota converted a couple of third down throws and got just enough out of his run game to tie this one up. Derrick Henry capped off a 15 play, 80 yard drive with a one yard touchdown run. Again, somehow, this game was tied. The Titans defense was fired up. They quickly got off the field and handed a hot Marcus Mariota the football again. Mariota immediately delivered, drilling Darius Jennings over the middle for a huge gain, then finding Dion Lewis on a screen to finish the drive with a touchdown. Everything was going so well Navy Jayon Brown Jersey , then Prescott decided to throw at Malcolm Butler. Butler — the high-priced free agent acquisition from New England — had already given up a touchdown to Amari Cooper. He followed that up by giving up a touchdown on a double move to Allen Hurns. That score brought us back to even at the halftime break, 14-14.Jayon Brown got the second half rolling with a sack-fumble. The whistle initially appeared to blow, but the referees eventually ruled that the Titans recovered the ball before that happened. The Titans took over in Dallas territory and immediately went to work. Dion Lewis picked up a first down, then Corey Davis and Taywan Taylor picked up a couple more chunks. Jonnu Smith capped the drive with a shovel pass reception on an option look. Smith stumbled into the endzone to regain the Titans the lead at 21-14. Dean Pees’ defense got another stop to follow. Once more, the Titans drove right down the field. This time, Marcus Mariota missed a wide open Corey Davis in the endzone. Tennessee settled for a field goal attempt, which Ryan Succop missed.Suddenly, the Cowboys had new life. The Titans had a shot to put this one away with 11 minutes to play, but failed to do so on back to back plays. One more time — the defense held. It was Harold Landry getting the sack on Prescott, forcing another Dallas punt. Another screen pass to Dion Lewis flipped the field, setting the Titans up for points with under eight minutes to play. Mariota finished the drive himself this time, keeping it right up the gut for six. Just like that Youth Austin Johnson Jersey , it was 28-14 Titans and this one was over. Marcus Mariota finished 21-29 for 240 yards and two touchdowns. He added 33 on the ground and another touchdown. Tonight was a massive moment for the Titans, who stabilized themselves and got right back in the race for the AFC South. Now sitting at 4-4 — finally with Marcus Mariota looking healthy and like himself again, maybe, just maybe, this offense is starting to find their footing. The defense certainly looks ready, outside of Malcolm Butler. They’ll face a stiff test next week with the Patriots coming to town, but the schedule lightens up after that. Mike Vrabel took a timeout late in overtime with the Tennessee Titans facing their third fourth down, then the first-year coach pulled kicker Ryan Succop off the field.Marcus Mariota, Corey Davis and the rest of the Titans rewarded Vrabel for his big show of confidence.Mariota hit Davis with a 10-yard touchdown pass with 5 seconds remaining in overtime, and the Titans beat the Philadelphia Eagles 26-23 on Sunday for their best start since 2013."He believes in us, believes we can go get that first down and go win the game," Mariota said of Vrabel letting the offense go for a third fourth down on the final drive. "When you have a head coach that believes in you Navy Josh Kline Jersey , man that means the world."Succop was lining up for a 50-yard attempt when Vrabel took the timeout. Only 17 seconds remained with the Titans facing third-and-goal when Mariota finally ended the game after 3 hours, 36 minutes."I got my heart pills coming," Vrabel joked. "I got a prescription, a big bottle. But I'm just proud of them being able to execute in the most critical of situations."The Titans trailed by 14 in the third quarter before rallying for the lead. They also trailed 23-20 in overtime before coming back again behind Mariota, who in his first start since being knocked out of the season opener with an injured elbow threw for 344 yards and two touchdowns while also running for a score. On the game-winning drive, the Titans converted three fourth downs, one by penalty. Mariota hit Taywan Taylor with a 19-yarder on fourth-and-15, and Mariota found a wide-open Dion Lewis on fourth-and-2 for a 17-yard gain. Mariota lofted the ball a bit knowing Davis would have room in the end zone for his first TD catch in the regular season."I got tackled by a bunch of teammates, but it felt good," said Davis, who finished with 161 yards receiving. The Titans (3-1) also came up with four sacks. Rookie Harold Landry got his first and also stripped Carson Wentz of the ball within the first minute of the fourth quarter, setting up the second of Succop's two field goals. The Eagles (2-2) had their chances to win both at the end of regulation and in overtime but were forced to settle for a pair of field goals by Jake Elliott."This hurts Youth Corey Davis Jersey ," Eagles coach Doug Pederson said. "This stings. Losses like this sting, and it's something we use as fuel for our emotion moving forward."Philadelphia had three chances inside the Tennessee 20 to win in regulation after DeAndre Carter returned a punt 42 yards to the Titans 39 with 1:41 left, but Wentz threw incomplete on first and third down. Elliott kicked a 30-yarder to force overtime. In the extra period, the Eagles had first-and-10 at the Tennessee 17 but had to settle for a 37-yard field goal by Elliott for the lead. The Eagles led 10-3 at halftime and 17-3 after a masterful drive that ate up more than 7 minutes of the third quarter before Wentz hit receiver Alshon Jeffery with a 16-yard TD .Mariota finally got the Titans' offense going after just two offensive touchdowns through the first three games. He capped a 75-yard drive with a 2-yard TD run to pull Tennessee within 17-10 late in the third, and he hit Tajae Sharpe with an 11-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter. The Eagles outgained Tennessee 432-397 with Wentz throwing for 348 yards. Jeffery finished with 105 yards receiving and a TD, and Zach Ertz had 10 catches for 112 yards.WHY PLAY FOR A TIE?"I don't know the point of having a tie in the NFL," Titans cornerback Logan Ryan said. "I don't know what it really does for the standings. I don't know who feels good about it. It probably feels like a loss. We were comfortable with the decision no matter how it went down. That puts a lot of trust in your quarterback and your offense right there."CAPTAIN COMEBACKMariota had his sixth game-winning drive since the start of the 2017 season, not counting his playoff comeback in January. Mariota had been tied with Case Keenum coming into Sunday with five in that span. Mariota now has 11 such drives in his career for the Titans.INJURIESEagles: Right guard Brandon Brooks limped to the sideline late in the fourth quarter.Titans: Linebacker Wesley Woodyard, Tennessee's leading tackler, hurt his shoulder in the first quarter and did not return. Rob Weintraub’s All-NFC East Team - Football OutsidersQB: Carson Wentz Youth Ronald Darby Jersey , PHI. Right now, fans in Philly are calculating what the Kelly Blue Book value is for the Wentz Wagon, but the fact remains that in just 11 games Wentz put up considerably more DYAR (549) than anyone else in the division (Eli Manning was second with 344). Even if Nick Foles’ total of 74 in five games was prorated to a full season, it would come to much less than half of Carson’s numbers. Wentz was 12th in DVOA as well. Division winner Dak Prescott was 25th in DVOA, unlike 2016, when he piloted the Pokes to the division crown and was third in the NFL in that metric.Ranking the top 5 running backs in the 2019 NFL Draft - BGNJosh Jacobs is the savior of this running back class and we should be thankful for his declaration. His blend of play strength, athleticism, and receiving ability combine to form the most “complete” back in the class. The question is, if his film is so good, why did he accrue less than 300 touches at Alabama? To be honest, I have no clue. On one hand, it’s impressive that a 3-star recruit cracked the rotation at all considering Alabama’s stable of 5-star studs. On the other, shouldn’t it have been apparent that he was the guy this year? Damien Harris’ surprise return hurt his chances, but the major question is one I’m not qualified to answer. Putting the volume question aside, Jacobs has everything you want in a feature back except prolonged, proven results. He’s a playmaker in a sea of roleplayers and likely is the top workhorse selected. The best part? He looks pretty darn good scoring on mesh-sit wheel, an Eagles staple. The QB Scho Show #11: Super Bowl Extravaganza - BGN RadioMichael Kist is joined by Mark Schofield to break down Tom Brady, Jared Goff and much more in their Super Bowl special! Malcolm Jenkins continued to speak about against the Philly Voice article that painted Carson Wentz as a selfish, unaccountable diva, and former Eagles receiver Torrey Smith joined in, as well.Schwartz Adds Assistant - Iggles BlitzOne area where Burke has done well is takeaways. Four of the last five years, he’s been part of a defense that finished in the Top 11 in the league in takeaways. That was a major weakness for the Eagles in 2018. If Burke can help there, that would be huge. A lot of people were down on Schwartz and the defense during the 2018 season http://www.eaglesauthorizedshops.com/authentic-jake-elliott-jersey , but it sure looks like injuries were the primary problem, not coaching. Schwartz has 10 years of experience working with Burke. This is obviously a coach he knows and likes. The Eagles don’t need major schematic changes, but it certainly can’t hurt to bring in someone who could be a good fit for the staff. Burke knows Schwartz’s scheme and ideas. He’s also been away from Schwartz so he may have some new ideas to bring to the mix. I don’t see Burke as a successor to Schwartz. Doug Pederson would bring in a new DC, not let Schwartz hand pick his replacement. The Question Of Avonte Maddox And Where He Fits Best - PE.comOUTSIDE CORNERBACK: This is a very difficult group to project. The Eagles began the season with Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills starting on the outside at cornerback. Both of those players ended the year on Injured Reserve and Rasul Douglas and Maddox finished the season as the starters. Both of those young players made progress. Darby, rehabbing from a knee injury, is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in March. Mills is recovering from a foot injury that was serious enough to keep him sidelined for half the season. Second-year man Sidney Jones, who opened the season as the starting cornerback inside, battled a significant hamstring injury for the second half of the season. He needs to take a big next step in the offseason. There are some developmental players and young veterans, like Josh Hawkins and Chandon Sullivan, whom the Eagles have to consider in the equation as well.2018 NFL trade grades: The 30 most impactful of the past 365 days - ESPNHow much is one catch worth? Tate seemed to become a burden on the Eagles’ offense, which was already overfilled with options in the slot, and the former Seahawks and Lions standout racked up just 25.3 receiving yards per game with a lone touchdown during his eight games in Philly. After being marginalized, though, Tate came through with a big 28-yard catch over the middle of the field against the Bears in the wild-card game before bringing in a fourth-down throw from two yards out for a touchdown to give the Eagles a 16-15 lead with 1:01 to go. Tate finished his season with 18 yards against the Saints in the divisional round, and with the Eagles in rough salary-cap straits, he has likely played his last game in a Philly uniform. General manager Howie Roseman gave up a third-round pick and paid Tate $3.7 million, but with the Eagles likely sitting out unrestricted free agency, they should recoup a compensatory pick in 2020 for their troubles. With a wildly unimpressive wideout market available, Tate should get in excess of $10 million per year on a short-term deal, which should be enough to net the Eagles a fourth-round selection.Top-10 Free Agent Linebackers in 2019 - PFF1. Jordan Hicks. After missing much of the 2017 season with an Achilles injury, Hicks made big — and maybe unexpected — strides in multiple facets in 2018. The former third-round pick upped his efforts in run defense, as he posted a career-best 81.3 run-defense grade (10th) while missing just five tackles all season. As a result, Hicks posted a grade north of 80.0 for the second time in his career, and his upward trajectory makes him an enticing option in free agency.Who is Matt Burke? - Phin PhanaticThey also brought in a thumper inside in MLB Lawrence Timmons from Pittsburgh. Burke know’s the deficiencies in this group and that Miami need to get Linebackers who can excel against the run but are also efficient in pass coverage. The Dolphins will most likely target Temple LB Alshon Jeffery Jersey , Hasson Reddick at No.22 or look at Florida’ Jarrad Davis, Vanderbilt’s Zach Cunningham, Wisconsin’s T.J. Watt or Ohio State’s Raekwon McMillan depending on who is still there at No.54. Matt Burke was not a splashy hire, but the continuity he brings and his reputation around the League as a highly intelligent football coach should help the Dolphins. He is tasked with trying to turn around a Defense that has struggled since switching to a 4-3 back in 2012. While some may worry as this is Burke’s first job as a coordinator at any level, the Dolphins had success last season with a young and inexperienced coaching staff.15 Eagles identify their best and worst plays of the season - The AthleticJohnson: “I don’t know really. The court announced its decision Tuesday but did not elaborate. Fryar and his mother were convicted in August 2015 of applying for mortgage loans in quick succession while using the same property as collateral. He immediately grabbed his hand and ran to the sideline before being taken to the locker room for treatment and evaluation. He returned and played in three more series."Tyrod had a dislocated pinky but obviously they were able to get that back in place real quickly," coach Hue Jackson said on a conference call Friday. "It takes 15 seconds to do that. He has a bruised hand. He's sore. But he's going to be fine."Taylor's hand was wrapped as he made an appearance at a men's apparel store Friday night. He was relieved the injury wasn't serious, and said he's dealing with soreness but plans to practice Saturday."Everything came back negative, which is a good sign and we were able to put the finger back in place," he said. "It's my left hand, at the end of the day. So deal with it. It'll be sore for a couple of days, but it's nothing that's going to stop me."Taylor said the doctor had some trouble putting his finger back into place."I tried to be tough about it," he said. "I tried not to look at it. I saw that it did dislocate Authentic Nick Foles Jersey , but I tried to look away and let him do his thing. They're professionals. They know what they're doing when it comes to that stuff. It didn't pop back as quickly as I wanted it to."Jackson also said he doesn't expect rookie starting cornerback Denzel Ward to miss "much time, if any" because of back spasms. Ward, the No. 4 overall pick, got twisted while tackling Eagles tight end Zach Ertz.Jackson said he hasn't decided if the first-team offense will play in next week's exhibition finale at Detroit. Jackson wants his starters to get as much time together as possible and is still considering playing them against the Lions. The 29-year-old Taylor is in his first season with the Browns, who acquired him from Buffalo in a trade in March to stabilize a problematic position. Taylor will start until top overall pick Baker Mayfield is ready, and the Browns will gladly put that off until next season.Taylor has been a model mentor to Mayfield so far, and the eight-year veteran has impressed everyone with his work ethic and attitude. The Browns seemed caught off guard that Taylor, who stayed in the locker room for the second half on Thursday, left FirstEnergy Stadium before speaking with reporters.Taylor did post a thank you to Cleveland fans for their prayers on Twitter and said he was "doing well."Jackson said there was relief that Taylor wasn't more seriously hurt."Well, I definitely got the final thought that he was going to be fine when we decided to put him back in," Jackson said. "Obviously, when (head trainer) Joe Sheehan came back, he said 'Everything is fine. There are no issues. He can go back in.' Obviously, the player was very excited to go back in the game. Again, I felt he needed to, because our offensive football team at that time needed to play together."They needed his leadership. He needed to be out there playing with them. I think it is important for them to develop that chemistry, so I felt comfortable that when we put him back out there, things were OK. Obviously, when he was not there and he was inside before he came back, all kinds of thoughts go through your head. But I feel good about where he is and what he will be able to do in the future."NOTES: WR Josh Gordon will participate in walk-throughs over the weekend and it's possible he'll practice. The former Pro Bowl receiver has only been allowed to attend meetings, work on the side with trainers and watch since returning from a self-imposed absence in training camp. Gordon, who was on the sideline Thursday night, has played in only 10 games over the past four seasons because of suspensions from drug violations. ... Rookie Genard Avery (hip) will be sidelined "some time" but has not been ruled out of the opener. Avery had a strip-sack on the Eagles' Nick Foles. ... Starting S Damarious Randall sat out against the Eagles after a knee locked up during warmups. Jackson said he was held out as a precaution.

Montae Nicholson was placed on the NFL reserve/non-football injury list Wednesday.Nicholson was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with assault and battery and being drunk in public stemming from a fight at a restaurant and retail complex near the team's practice facility in Ashburn http://www.eaglesauthorizedshops.com/authentic-destiny-vaeao-jersey , Virginia. Loudoun County Sheriff's Office spokesman Kraig Troxell confirmed Nicholson's arrest and said Tuesday the 23-year-old had been released on $2,500 bond.Police say Nicholson and 24-year-old Sydney Maggiore were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to a physical assault of two victims, one man and one woman.Coach Jay Gruden said after practice the team was still discussing what to do with the second-year player from Michigan State. Hour later, he was put on the non-football injury reserve list.Earlier Wednesday, the Redskins placed cornerback Danny Johnson on injured reserve and signed defensive back Jeremy Reaves to the active roster."Every week it's something," said Redskins cornerback Josh Norman about dealing with all of the changes in the secondary this season."Injuries, sit outs, illness . the little engine that could train. We're going to be at the game and we're going to fight hard."A 2017 fourth-round pick, Nicholson has played in all 14 of Washington's games and is 10th on the team with 41 tackles. He started the first seven games of his second NFL season before moving to a backup role for the past seven after the Redskins traded for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Tommy McDonald, the small, speedy and sure-handed receiver who teamed with quarterback Norm Van Brocklin to help the Philadelphia Eagles win the 1960 NFL championship Nate Gerry Jersey , has died. He was 84.His death was announced Monday by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Details were not disclosed.McDonald was a two-time All-American from Oklahoma who played 12 NFL seasons for five teams and was a six-time Pro Bowl selection. When he retired in 1968, he ranked second in league history in touchdown catches, fourth in yards receiving and sixth in receptions. But the 5-foot-7, 175-pound McDonald had to wait 30 years before becoming the smallest player inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame."Oh, baby!" McDonald shouted in Canton, Ohio on Aug. 1, 1998. "Do I look excited, like I just won the lottery or the jackpot? Yes! I'm in the Hall of Fame!"His induction speech was equal parts hysterics and histrionics. McDonald told jokes and tossed his 25-pound bronze bust in the air. He pulled out a radio and danced to disco music — all on the steps of the hallowed hall."Tommy McDonald lived life like he played the game of football. He was charismatic, passionate and had fun," Hall of Fame President and CEO David Baker said. "He was such a character. Heaven is a happier place today."In seven seasons with Philadelphia, the durable McDonald had 287 receptions for 5 Authentic Corey Graham Jersey ,499 yards, with a per-catch average of 19.2 yards. He had 66 touchdowns in 88 games, and No. 25 went to the Pro Bowl five straight seasons (1959-63)."Tommy McDonald played the game with a passion and energy that was second to none," said Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. "He will be remembered as one of the most exciting players ever to play his position, but what really separated him and made him so unique was the infectious personality and charisma that he brought to his everyday life. He had a genuine love for this team, for the Philadelphia community, for the fans, and, of course, his family. He was a man of character, both on and off the field Youth Corey Clement Jersey , who exemplified all the qualities that we hope to represent as an organization."He was a champion, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, and one of the most genuine individuals I have ever met. On behalf of the Philadelphia Eagles, I would like to express our deepest condolences to the entire McDonald family."He was traded to Dallas in 1964 and dealt the next season to the Los Angeles Rams. Determined to show he could still be a force in the league, McDonald had a solid season with a career-best 67 receptions for 1,036 yards and nine TDs and earned another trip to the Pro Bowl.A running back at Oklahoma under Bud Wilkinson, McDonald was an All-American in 1955 and 1956. He never experienced a loss with the Sooners, winning 31 straight games, part of Oklahoma's 47-game run.In 1956, McDonald finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting behind Paul Hornung of Notre Dame and Johnny Majors of Tennessee.Amid rumblings he was too small to play in the NFL, the Eagles drafted McDonald in the third round in 1957.He was used primarily on punts and kick returns early his rookie season Womens Mike Wallace Jersey , before being inserted as a flanker against the Washington Redskins midway through the year. McDonald scored two touchdowns, including a 61-yarder that late NFL commissioner Bert Bell reportedly called "one of the greatest catches I have ever seen in pro football."McDonald and Van Brocklin proved a formidable pair for the Eagles. They combined for one of the most memorable touchdowns in franchise history, a 35-yard reception on a frigid afternoon that helped the Eagles to a 17-13 win over Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers in the 1960 NFL title game at Franklin Field. It was the team's third championship and the only championship game a Lombardi-coached team lost."You can't go any higher," McDonald said in 2005 as the Eagles prepped for a Super Bowl appearance. "We were at the top of the hill looking down yelling, 'Hello! Nobody expected us to be here.'"The next season, McDonald set a franchise record with seven catches for 237 yards receiving in a game against the Giants and went on to finish with 64 receptions for a league-leading 1,144 yards and 13 touchdowns.Born in New Mexico, McDonald's family moved from the small town of Roy to Albuquerque before his sophomore year in high school. He developed into a three-sport athlete in football, basketball and track.

To The Mean For Deshaun Watson? Former NFL superstar wide receiver Cris Carter and former Houston sports talk radio personality Nick Wright recently had a debate on their daily TV show Houston Texans Womens T-Shirt , offering up a sort of point/counter-point on just what Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson will do in 2018. If you haven’t seen the tape on this one, check it out:This debate got me wondering what the rest of the BRB illuminati had to say about it, so I tossed the video and the question of what we should expect out of DW4 in Year Two out to my fellow mastheadians. BFD:Rivers McCown:Luke Beggs:Kenneth:Tim:My .02 Cents...Both Cris Carter and Nick Wright make valid arguments for and against Deshaun Watson’s ability to continue roasting the NFL in his second season. Carter’s point about the league adjusting to what to the game film they have on DW4 shows them is dead on. History is littered with stories of quarterbacks who had early success and got anointed by the media as the next Hall of Fame QB (Colin Kaepernick, anyone?), only to have that success drop off a cliff once the spotlight focused on ‘em over an offseason. On the flip side, I watched Watson at Clemson, just as Wright did Houston Texans Hats , and I saw a guy who was utterly amazing. While the “lack of quick release/pitch speed” thing shook my pre-draft resolve, Watson proved me and everyone else wrong last year. And, after shaking his hand and looking him dead in the eye, I saw a champion looking for a place to win. The third component of this debate is the supporting cast. If the Texans’ defense as a whole and the offensive line can improve from last year, Watson delivering 75% of what he brought in his last four games last year will be more than enough for the Texans to go deep into the playoffs. If not, DW4 will either get hurt again or see one of his best years wasted, just like J.J. Watt did a few seasons ago. What do you think? Side with Carter? Wright? Neither? Let us know your take on this and how you see 2018 shaping up for #DW4 in the comments section. How many times have you heard or read a story that goes something like this; It happens every season. Some teams rise and fall due to dominance Houston Texans Womens Hoodie , while others accomplish the same on seemingly apparent blind luck. Some dodge the injury bullets; some get taken out by them. Thankfully, the Houston Texans are on the right side of this narrative going into their bye week, which means they should come out of the time off even better. Here’s some reasons to get excited about the second part of the Houston Texans’ 2018 season:1.Deshaun Watson ...managed to survive a chest and lung injury to win games on short weeks while battling a simple task—breathing—that most humans take for granted. Last season when everyone was raving about the rookie phenom, DW4 was carrying a 61.8% completion rate; while his touchdown rate was higher, so was his interception rate. Although it took DW4 a few games to get his swagger back, he has it in spades. Just wait till he takes the field after nearly two weeks of rest. 2.J.J. Watt...has already done more in 2018 than he did in 2017 and 2016 combined. He’s rolling into the bye with nine sacks, eleven tackles for loss and twenty-five solo tackles. He’s hit opposing quarterbacks sixteen times and smoked more offensive tackles than Franklin has briskets. Anyone who thought this dude wasn’t going to go back to being an All-Pro needs to look in the mirror and repeat these words “I was WRONG!” With a chance for the rest of the defense to get healthy Womens Customized Houston Texans Jerseys , the second half of the season should give Watt a chance to turn up the heat and break the twenty-sack mark for an unprecedented third time. Oh, Jadeveon Clowney should feast in the second half, too. 3.Houston’s wide receiver corps ...should put the defensive backfields of opposing teams on life support after the bye. The Washington Redskins are giving up an average of 254 yards per game through the air, the Cleveland Browns 285, the Colts 261, and the Philadelphia Eagles 269. When these teams face the passing attack of Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins www.thetexansfootballauthentic.com , Demaryius Thomas, Keke Coutee and Jordan Thomas, you can expect those numbers to rise like a tidal surge.4.Bill O’Brien ... has shown his ability to manage games is slowly improving. We were very hard on B’OB when the team was sub-.500, but that’s the sort of tough love NFL head coaches sign on for when they take those million-dollar checks to the bank. It was encouraging to hear the announcers of last Sunday’s game mention O’Brien admitted to misusing Lamar Miller over the last two seasons. Now, if guys like D’Onta Foreman can get back on the field and contribute in the running game, if the offensive line can gel even more while getting healthy, O’Brien’s ability to take advantage of Point No. 3 above goes up exponentially.5.Killer Houston Texans stats Only three teams since the playoff system was expanded in 1990 have made the playoffs after starting 0-3; the odds of doing so are a whopping 2%. The 1992 San Diego Chargers Houston Texans T-Shirt , the 1995 Detroit Lions, and the 1998 Buffalo Bills all beat the odds, and Houston looks to be the next team to do so. Starting 0-3 and then going on a six-game win streak with the rest of the AFC South struggling almost assures a playoff berth. Speaking of percentages, the Bill O’Brien led Houston Texans win 96.4% of the time when leading at halftime. While unable to verify this, there’s a good chance this is an all-time high mark for any NFL head coach in the modern era. While there won’t be any Houston Texans football this weekend, there’s also no chance Houston won’t still be sitting in their rightful place atop the AFC South when the bye ends and they take the field in Landover on November 18th. It’s a good time to be a Texans fan. Enjoy it. You’ve earned it. What are you most excited about for the second half of the season?

Then the heavens parted and the omnipresent football man in the sky shined light down on Houston’s football game. He put the thought in Frank Reich’s mind to go for it at their own 43 yard line with less than a minute to go in overtime. The ball skipped over to Chester Rogers with Johnathan Joseph in coverage. Houston ball. DeAndre Hopkins turned a simple slant into 24 yards Authentic Whitney Mercilus Jersey , which set up a 37 yard Ka’imi Fairbairn attempt. A Smirnoff in the bean pot. A kick attempt that didn’t exist. A made second attempt. The Texans win. They are now 1-3, tied with the Colts for last place in the division. Despite Bill O’Brien reverting back to his old offensive play calling and going conservative with a lead, bungling the clock at the end of the fourth quarter, and calling another useless screen pass in an integral situation Johnathan Joseph Jersey , the Texans finally won a one-possession game this year. Fortune is a funny thing. Next week the Texans play the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in an attempt to start a winning streak. The floor is yours.Hair of the Dog - Texans v. NEW YORK — on hold for one more night for the Boston Red Sox. It was hardly the concern for the New York Yankees Jhoulys Chacin Jersey , whose priority was making sure Aaron Judge successfully made it through his return to the starting lineup. After welcoming Judge back to the lineup, the Yankees hope to prevent their rivals from officially securing the American League East on Wednesday night.Article continues below ...“He looked like he hadn’t missed a beat from the at-bat quality,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of Judge.Boston (103-48) can win its third straight division title with a win. The Red Sox nearly locked it up Tuesday by taking a lead into the seventh and putting on the tying runs before the Yankees escaped with a 3-2 victory.Neil Walker hit a three-run homer but more importantly for the Yankees, was Judge appearing in the starting lineup for the first time since July 26 when he broke his right wrist. Judge went 0-for-4 but one of the at-bats was a 112 mph lineout.“I felt like I never left,” Judge said. “Everything felt good. I felt like my at-bats were good, seeing the ball. That’s all I can ask for coming back after missing that many weeks. So I’m excited with the start. We got the win and just have to keep that rolling.”Judge was a week into his recovery when the Red Sox essentially locked up the AL East with their four-game sweep of the Yankees at Fenway Park Aug. 2-5. The Red Sox have held first place every day since July 2 and are 47-19 since the teams were last tied following New York’s 11-1 rout at Yankee Stadium on July 1.When the Red Sox clinch, first-year manager Alex Cora said he plans to watch his players enjoy the rewards for a season that began with a 14-2 start and one that might end with the most wins in team history.“Celebrations are for the players,” Cora said before Tuesday’s game. “You kind of like stay away from them. I really made a point to stay in the corner of the room last year (with the Houston Astros) and enjoy it.”Cora will be hoping he can pencil in Mookie Betts into the lineup. Betts was originally going to play center field Tuesday but the wet field kept him out of the lineup with a left side injury.“One thing for sure with him, and I know he’s close to doing a few things that are very special in this game, but like I’ve been saying, he’s a small guy, not as big as some other ones, and we need him to be close to 100 percent,” Cora said. When Betts returns Jeremy Jeffress Jersey , he will attempt to add to his .337 average, 29 homers, and 72 RBIs while continuing to be productive against the Yankees. He is hitting .412 in 51 at-bats with two homers and 10 RBIs and has reached base in 31 of 62 plate appearances against New York this year.David Price will start the potential clincher for the Red Sox and looks to continue his recent roll. After getting pounded by the Yankees on July 1, he was 9-6 with a 4.28 ERA. Since then, he is 6-0 with a 2.22 ERA in his last 11 outings.Price last pitched a week ago against Toronto when he allowed three hits in seven scoreless innings in a 1-0 win. In his last start, Price made effective use of 31 changeups, getting 10 swings and misses on the pitch.“It was a very good pitch,” Price said. “Being able to throw it if I was behind in the count or ahead of the count, being able to locate it down, that’s a big key for that pitch for me.”Price is 15-13 with a 4.86 ERA in 41 career appearances (40 starts) against the Yankees. He last faced New York on Aug. 5 in Boston when he allowed two runs on four hits in six innings in a game the Red Sox won in the 10th.Yankees right-hander Luis Severino makes his fourth attempt at getting his 18th win. Since his last win Aug. 26 at Baltimore, he is 0-2 with a 5.65 ERA. Severino last pitched a week ago in Minnesota, when he allowed one run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 3-1 loss.Severino is 3-6 with a 4.29 ERA in 12 career appearances (11 starts) against the Red Sox. CHICAGO (AP) — After seven dominant innings from Jon Lester, the Chicago Cubs turned to a closer-by-committee due to their loss of Pedro Strop.Lester allowed two hits over seven innings with a season-high nine strikeouts, Willson Contreras hit a run-scoring single in the sixth inning and the Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds 1-0 on Saturday to maintain their NL Central lead.Justin Wilson pitched the eighth. Jesse Chavez got the first out in the ninth and Randy Rosario retired Joey Votto on a fly to warning track in left-center. Steve Cishek retired Eugenio Suarez on a broken-bat grounder to third for his fourth save Jesus Aguilar Jersey , completing a four-hitter.“We know we’re going to be matched up throughout the game, and that’s what Joe likes to do,” Cishek said. “Everyone knows it’s the ninth inning. We just try to treat it like any other inning.”Seeking their third straight division title, opened a 2½-game NL Central lead over second-place Milwaukee. Chicago has won three straight, four of five and eight straight against Cincinnati.Lester (16-6) came out after three runs and 5 2/3 innings against the Brewers on Monday because of back tightness.“It’s doing fine,” Lester said. “Like I say, good drugs and good docs. We’re all good.”After a midseason slump, the 34-year-old left-hander is 4-1 with a 1.73 ERA in his last six starts.“Jonny typically gets better when he smells it,” manager Joe Maddon said. “He made some really big pitches when he had to.”Chicago announced Friday that Strop has a hamstring strain, causing him to miss the rest of the regular season.“We needed a quality start and he went beyond that,” Cishek said of Lester. “Especially for us in the bullpen where we could use a little bit of rest. It was huge for us, a huge boost.”Cody Reed allowed two hits and struck out a career-high 10 in five innings, matching his longest outing this season.“Did what he wanted him to do,” manager Jim Riggleman said. “Get us to that point of the ballgame and give us a chance.”Reed threw 91 pitches after transitioning from the bullpen. He threw 91 pitches.“It was fun out there http://www.brewersfanproshop.com/authentic-ryan-braun-jersey ,” Reed said. “I could have kept going.”Javier Baez led off the sixth with an infield single against Sal Romano (7-11), advanced on David Bote’s groundout and scored on Contreras opposite-field single to right with two outs. Each team had just two soft singles through five innings on an afternoon of bright sunlight and shadows that covered home plate. The lights in the 104-year-old ballpark were on when the game started shortly after 3 p.m. CDT.“Both clubs’ hitters were having a little trouble hitting, seeing with the background today,” Riggleman said.Cubs slugger Kris Bryant struck out swinging four times.MORROW CLOSECubs RHP Brandon Morrow, who had 22 saves in 24 chances before going on the disabled list on July 18, hopes to be activated in the next few days after throwing a 19-pitch simulated game on Saturday.“It all depends on how I come in tomorrow,” Morrow said. “I expect to feel good enough. It was a successful day.”Morrow revealed his injury was a bone bruise in his right forearm, caused by muscle overuse and a stress reaction from pitching. “Throwing too hard,” he quipped.Morrow’s return figures to be a big boost for the Cubs’ bullpen after Strop strained his left hamstring on Thursday in Washington running to first base.Maddon said he doesn’t think he’ll initially use the right-hander in a save situation. Maddon will monitor Morrow’s pitch counts and doubts the reliever will be able to throw in consecutive games unless the Cubs advance deep into the postseason.TRAINER’S ROOMReds: RHP Michael Lorenzen will start in place of RHP Tyler Mahle (right shoulder fatigue) on Tuesday. Mahle’s status for the remainder of the season is uncertain, manager Jim Riggleman said. The 26-year old Lorenzen hasn’t make a start since September 2015, at the close of his first season with the Reds and in the majors.Cubs: Maddon said OF/IF Kyle Schwarber (back) could be cleared for pinch hitting this weekend and return to the lineup when the Cubs travel to Arizona for a three-game series starting Monday. … Maddon also expects OF Jason Heyward (right hamstring tightness) to return during the series against the Diamondbacks.UP NEXTReds RHP Luis Castillo (9-12, 4.66) is to take the mound against Cubs LHP Jose Quintana (13-9, 3.97) in the series finale on Sunday. Quintana will try for a career-high 14th win.
