Week five is upon Womens Derek Carr Jersey us and it has the 1-3 Raiders taking a quick trip to SoCal to visit their fan base there. That’s where they will face the 2-2 Chargers and where they are 5-point underdogs according to Bovada, courtesy of Oddshark.Matchup : Trends : Free PicksThe Chargers opened as 6-point favorites, so the margin has slimmed a bit since then. The two teams have had one common opponent this season. They both faced the Rams. They came to Oakland in the season opener on Monday night football and blew out the Raiders 33-13. Two week later Womens Mike Nugent Jersey , the Rams were hosting the Chargers who they beat 35-25. In both games, the Rams’ opponents had 13 points at the half. In the second half the Rams outscored the Chargers 14-10 and outscored the Raiders 23-0.Last week was the first time this season the Raiders outscored their opponent in the second half. They were behind at the half only to outscore the Browns 28-25 in the second half. That tied the game and they added a field goal to win it in overtime. If they are to prove the oddsmakers wrong, they will need to prove that wasn’t a fluke comeback but rather turning the corner.Raiders sign WR Brandon LaFell to one-year deal Youth Seth Roberts Jersey , drop Johnny Holton Two days following the cutdown deadline which included the release of Martavis Bryant, the Raiders have made another move at receiver, signing Brandon LaFell to a one-year deal according to his agent. The 31-year-old receiver had spent the past two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and was released in early August. He was in a battle for playing time at receiver heading into camp and asked for his release.“We have been lobbying for his release for some time now and appreciate the Bengals granting our request Womens Gareon Conley Jersey ,” LaFell’s agent Jonathan Feinsod told NFL.com.The 6-3, 210-pounder has never had a 1000-yard season in his career. His best season was in 2014 when he caught 74 passes for 953 yards and 7 touchdowns. He had 52 catches for 548 yards and 3 touchdowns last season in Cincinnati. He joins a receiver group that has Amari Cooper and Jordy Nelson as the starters. LaFell will either battle Seth Roberts, Dwayne Harris Youth Tahir Whitehead Jersey , Johnny Holton, and Keon Hatcher for knock one of them off the roster.Update: Johnny Holton has been released in a corresponding move.  The final dress rehearsal Last chance Cheap Derek Carr Jersey , fellas. One more game to show you belong and then let the cards fall where they may. For this one, the Raiders head to the Pacific Northwest to face the Seahawks. And while the game means little to nothing from a win/loss standpoint, it means a whole lot more to some of the players who will be playing in the game. Here are five things to watch:1. Bubble battlesI covered this at length in its own post, including several specific position battles that will be waged on the field (which you can see here). Those battles are the main event in this game. You figure between 15 and 20 players won’t suit up for the game. Of the players who will play, more than half of them won’t be on the roster come Saturday. What their fate will be could be decided in this game. That could be earning a spot on the Raiders roster, or showcasing their talent to get a look from another team.2. OT ready or not?One of the scariest positions on the Raiders roster right now is the tackle spots. Both of them. The first question is whether Kolton Miller and Donald Penn will play in the game. Both are desperate for reps. Miller is a rookie who has been up and down at the left tackle spot and Donald Penn was absolutely lost in his first game at right tackle last week. It seems a no-brainer they should play, but Gruden didn’t dress Miller for the team’s game in LA against the Rams and has said most of the veterans will not play Thursday night.Should they play Rodney Hudson Jersey , we will be looking for considerable improvement from last week. Mostly because they won’t even be facing starters and if you can’t handle backups, how can you be counted upon to handle the elite pass rushers in the AFC West? It is vital that they both show improvement.3. Seabass the SeahawkBrace yourselves, Raider Nation. You’re about to get a long look at Sebastian Janikowski in a Seahawks uniform. The 18-year Raiders kicker has won the kicker job in Seattle. So, while the Raiders are now fielding Ted Mike Nugent at kicker because Eddy Pineiro is out with a groin injury, their steadfast kicker of 17 NFL seasons is kicking for someone else. 4. Who sits from the secondary?Few things are set in stone with regard to the secondary on this team. While every other position group sat their starters in week two against the Rams, the secondary remained relatively unchanged. There are still battles going on there both for roster spots and for positions on the depth chart. If the team sits a player, and it’s not for injury reasons http://www.raiderscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-tahir-whitehead-jersey , that’s an indication they have won the starting job or at very least a roster spot. If not, they still have something to fight for. 5. Hidden agendaMany times in final preseason games, a player will dress, but see little to no time. A player some thought had a pretty decent shot at the roster. That’s because the Raiders hope to waive the player but would like him to slip through waivers so they can place him on the practice squad. The last thing they want in this instance is to give that player more visibility and run the risk of that player being scooped up by another team.  The http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/calvin-ridley-jersey , Atlanta Falcons have plenty of injuries, and their inactives list against the Panthers reflects that unfortunate reality. As you’ll see below, the Falcons have Devonta Freeman, Ben Garland Julio Jones Jersey Limited , and Russell Gage out due to injury, which leaves Wes Schweitzer as the primary (and really only) reserve option along the interior line. The Panthers are starting Chris Clark at left tackle, so they’re hardly better off, but the Falcons have a few realities to navigate here. New addition Steven Means and fifth defensive tackle Justin Zimmer are both inactive http://www.atlantafalconsteamonline.com/julio-jones-jersey , which means the Falcons’ line will comprise just eight full-time players against this lousy Panthers offensive line. Blidi Wreh-Wilson will step in at corner with a larger role (though still not a large role) with Isaiah Oliver shelved, too. Of course, the biggest hole is left by Devonta Freeman. Without him, the team will lean very heavily on Tevin Coleman Matt Ryan Jersey Limited , with the hope that Ito Smith and Brian Hill can do some solid work if they’re needed. Hill should get a lot of run on special teams today, too. We’re just about an hour away from gametime. The first episode features two of our editors in Jeanna Thomas and Matt Chambers and things get a bit feisty. Here’s where you come in: After listening to the podcast, we want you to vote on who you believe won the debate. Give us your reasons in the comments and feel free to provide feedback and ideas for future debate topics as well. The topics discussed:Has Steve Sarkisian turned the corner as an NFL coordinator?Which NFC team will finish this season with the best record?Who finishes with more rushing yards: Tevin Coleman or Devonta Freeman? Will Matt Ryan surpass 4700 passing yards in 2018?Can Vic Beasley finish 2018 with 8 or more sacks?Let us know who won the debate:

With the news of Andy Levitre’s injury www.authenticsatlantafalcons.com , we thought it might be worth bringing up this previous article about Levitre’s impact on the offense. The original article was published before the season. There is much being made about the potential for the Falcons’ offense to have a “bounce-back” year in 2018. Despite the team posting top-10 offensive numbers in many categories, including yards per play (3rd), passing yards per attempt (T-4th), rushing yards per attempt (T-7th), and third down efficiency (1st), they lagged behind considerably in scoring (15th).Plenty of theories exist as to why the team fell off in points compared to 2016. Most revolve around offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, whose shaky and inconsistent playcalling resulted in a lot of stalled drives in the redzone. Others point to execution issues and simple bad luck—the Falcons posted a -2 turnover margin, with the defense not producing anywhere near as many takeaways as in 2016 and Matt Ryan suffering from abysmal interception numbers from dropped and tipped passes. All that is summed up nicely by PFF: Matt Ryan had the lowest percentage of turnover-worthy throws in the league (0.9% of his passes). Four balls were picked from throws that were considered to be Ryan’s fault, while a whopping eight interceptions were considered “unlucky”. That’s historically the most ever thrown by an NFL QB, so we can expect that number to come down significantly in 2018.Outside of some positive regression to the mean on offense and a more experienced and comfortable Steve Sarkisian, what else does this offense need? The answer might surprise you Atlanta Falcons T-Shirt , but I believe that the health of LG Andy Levitre might be one of the keys to the Falcons’ offensive success during the 2018 season. Levitre suffered a partially torn triceps during the Week 13 game against the Minnesota Vikings, and the offense just wasn’t the same without him.Levitre missed Weeks 13-16, coming back briefly during the Week 17 match-up against the Panthers before aggravating his injury. He was placed on IR prior to the playoffs, and the Falcons would be without his services for the remainder of the season. While the Falcons’ offense didn’t disintegrate entirely in his absence, there were some notable drop-offs in production—particularly against quality defensive lines, like Minnesota and Philadelphia.Below is a table highlighting the pretty significant difference in offensive production with and without Andy Levitre in the lineup.Falcons Offensive Numbers with and without Andy LevitreStatisticWith LevitreWithout LevitreStatisticWith LevitreWithout LevitreThe biggest and most notable drop off came in scoring. Atlanta fell from scoring 24.1 points/game with Andy Levitre—a number that would’ve ranked 10th in the league—all the way down to 17.7, which would’ve been good for 28th in the NFL. For context, that’s just ahead of the Miami Dolphins, who had one of the worst offenses in the league in 2017. Losing almost a full TD worth of points per game is a huge difference in terms of statistical significance, as well.Outside of scoring, the Falcons got worse in every single facet of their offense. Total yards per game dropped from 373.4 (good for 6th) to 333.3 (14th). In the passing game Atlanta Falcons Hats , the team fell from 256.5 yards/game (T-7th) to 223.0 (18th) and dropped from what would’ve been a league-leading 8.16 YPA to 7.01 (T-14th). The same negative trend was also observed in the running game. Rushing yards/game only fell from 116.8 (11th) to 110.3 (17th), but YPC dropped from a very good 4.42 (7th) to a well below-average 3.86 (25th).In short, the Falcons offense became less productive—both in terms of scoring and yardage—and the team’s efficiency in both passing and running took a significant hit. Whether or not this can be fully attributed to the loss of Levitre is an open question, but it’s hard to argue that his loss did not contribute in a big way to this late-season offensive regression. While Ben Garland filled in adequately in many games, his lack of high-end ability was exposed in a few match-ups—with the Eagles game being a particularly rough outing.Atlanta’s offense was able to weather the up-and-down play of RG Wes Schweitzer in 2017—who, despite being a fan punching bag for most of the season, didn’t torpedo the offense—but could not hold up to the inconsistency of Garland and Schweitzer on the field at once. Luckily, the team seems to have recognized their depth issues. The signing of Brandon Fusco—who is an underrated player and should provide a sizable upgrade over Schweitzer—gives the Falcons another above-average guard to pair with Levitre. This also isn’t the first time someone has mentioned Levitre as being a key part of the offense. We had similar discussions earlier in the offseason, where it was an open question whether or not the team would bring back the veteran for the 2018 season. Atlanta ultimately got Levitre to agree to a pay cut to stick around, and we’ve heard the front office express confidence in his abilities since then.On an offensive line that already has an above-average LT in Jake Matthews, one of the league’s best centers in Alex Mack Atlanta Falcons Hoodie , and an underrated RT in Ryan Schraeder, a healthy Andy Levitre could be the difference between above-average and elite offensive line play. Reports prior to training camp expressed positivity about Levitre’s recovery, so we’ll have to hope that trend continues.I’m excited about the offense’s potential to “bounce back” in 2018, but perhaps even more excited to see how the new-look offensive line elevates the play of the skill players. We all know how dangerous Matt Ryan is with time in the pocket, and the return of a healthy Andy Levitre coupled with the addition of Brandon Fusco could be just enough to push the offense over the top. What are your thoughts on the Falcons offense in 2018? Do you see Levitre’s health as a key part of a potential rebound season? How do you feel about the offensive line as a whole heading into training camp?LS Josh Harris headlines Falcons inactives vs. Eagles The Falcons will be down a snap and a slot Thursday night versus the Eagles. Long snapper Josh Harris and reserve corner Blidi Wreh-Wilson standout on the team’s first season inactives list. Newly-acquired safety Jordan Richards and reserve OL Ben Garland are also inactive. Don’t be surprised if Richards is still learning the playbook and is active next week. Rookies WR Russell Gage and RB Ito Smith and newly-called up sophomore CB Deante Burton get active nods for Thursday, but rookie CB Isaiah Oliver, who had been dealing with injury, is out. Look for Gage, Smith and Burton on special teams. Roster bubble success stories Matt Gono and Justin Zimmer round out the inactives for the Birds. For the Eagles, the big two obviously are QB Carson Wentz and WR Alshon Jeffery. We’ll see how Wentz’s and Jeffery’s absences play a part Thursday night for Philly as the Falcons try to get their first win of 2018.

The long-anticipated rematch is finally here. After eight months Matt Ryan Jersey , the Falcons are back in the spotlight against the Super Bowl champions that ended their dreams of 2016 redemption. If you remember, everything was aligning for the Falcons to make it back to the promised land. A matchup against Nick Foles created a real optimistic feeling around Atlanta. Those bright visions were shattered in a disappointing 15-10 defeat. Not scoring any points in the second half led to another playoff exit. The habit of failing to score in the red zone caught up to Steve Sarkisian’s disjointed offense. For all their incredible talent, the Falcons continue to find ways to fall short at the worst possible time. Not much has changed since then. The main objective of winning a Super Bowl remains the same. Dan Quinn’s coaching staff methods and management style remain as popular as ever, and have been used to tweak the team. Working closely alongside the front office, the charismatic head coach keeps building a roster capable of beating any team. Their capabilities haven’t necessarily been shown in recent meetings against Philadelphia. From getting overpowered in the trenches to not finding a rhythm offensively, the Falcons have struggled against Doug Pederson’s squad. Playing better up front will go a long way in starting off the season with a bang. Surviving in the trenchesWhen evaluating the Eagles’ stacked roster, the first thing that stands out is their ferocious defensive line. No defensive line goes deeper in terms of talent and versatility. Although they lost quality rotational pieces in Vinny Curry and Beau Allen, Philadelphia remains as loaded as ever. Swooping in and trading for Michael Bennett left every NFC contender outraged. Haloti Ngata can still be effective in a limited role. By acquiring both veterans, it eliminated any doubts about depth across their defensive line.Trying to contain the likes of Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, and Bennett will always be difficult. The Falcons are fortunate that Timmy Jernigan is still recovering from a herniated disk. It leaves them with one fewer concern http://www.authenticsatlantafalcons.com/cheap-matt-bosher-jersey , especially when running the ball. Ngata isn’t the same run-stuffer that he once was. That should bode well for Sarkisian in utilizing their signature zone-blocking scheme. It will be essential for the offense to be productive on first and second down. Third and long situations are usually a nightmare against Philadelphia’s ultra-aggressive defense, especially when defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz breaks out the NASCAR package. Andy Levitre and Brandon Fusco should be major upgrades over Ben Garland and Wes Schweitzer, who were the starters in last season’s playoff game. How they fare against Bennett and Cox will determine how aggressive Matt Ryan can be in the pocket.Causing havoc in the trenchesWhile Sarkisian’s questionable play calling stole all the headlines, there was another significant reason behind the Falcons’ playoff exit. The Eagles controlled the line of scrimmage in the second half. They managed to put together drives of 12 and 14 plays for more than 13 minutes combined. Although both drives ended in field goals, it still represented a huge win for an offense adjusting to life without Carson Wentz. They were able to pick up timely first downs and keep Foles clean in the pocket. It was a disappointing end for what was arguably the Falcons’ best defensive line since 2004.The pass rush only produced one sack and four hits on 31 drop backs. Pederson deserves credit for using RPOs and other innovative play designs to get the ball out of Foles’ hands quickly. There were still far too many moments that showed Foles standing tall in the pocket without feeling rushed. Without Adrian Clayborn and Dontari Poe, Atlanta’s defensive line clearly doesn’t look as impressive on paper. Vic Beasley and Takkarist McKinley will be expected to carry the pass rushing load. How Quinn rotates on the interior alongside Grady Jarrett should be fascinating as the game wears on. It’s no secret that Foles is coming off a dreadful preseason. Generating pressure and making him play on the move are two effective ways towards rattling him. That is easier said than done against Philadelphia’s tremendous offensive line.Tevin Coleman’s usageOne of the most fascinating aspects of last season’s divisional round matchup was Coleman’s productivity. It felt like he was accelerating into the open field on nearly every other carry. With Devonta Freeman ailing from a MCL-PCL sprain, Coleman was given more touches than usual. It led to both running backs receiving ten carries. As Freeman failed to average a yard per carry, Coleman exploded for 79 yards. They used a variety of stretch runs (particularly from shotgun) to exploit Philadelphia on the outside. The dynamic back also ran effectively between the tackles as well. There are some games where Coleman can overwhelm an opposing defense. His speed gives them fits at all three levels. Unfortunately for the Falcons, linebackers and safeties aren’t being tested all that often in the passing game. Coleman’s shockingly low usage as a receiver in the regular season transferred over into the playoffs against Philadelphia. He received a mere one target off a check down, which led to him running through Malcolm Jenkins for an impressive 14-yard gain. There is no valid reason why such an electrifying multidimensional weapon caught only three or more passes in six out of 17 games last season. Coleman needs to be properly utilized, especially against top-tier defenses that don’t have any clear weaknesses. A player of his caliber can break a game open whenever he touches the ball. Designing ways to get him the ball in space will be vital in what should be a low-scoring affair.Red zone challengeSimilar to how NBC repeatedly referenced the Falcons’ Super Bowl collapse during last year’s rematch against the Patriots http://www.authenticsatlantafalcons.com/cheap-desmond-trufant-jersey , they will likely bring up what transpired in the red zone against the Eagles during every red zone appearance. It was the biggest talking point following Atlanta’s loss last January. Not being able to gain nine yards in four plays with the season on the line was a cruel way for Sarkisian’s chaotic first season to end. As good as the last drive was, you have to say it wasn’t surprising to see another unsuccessful red zone trip.In the last four games of the season (including playoffs), the Falcons went five for 16 in the red zone. That includes pitiful showings against New Orleans and Carolina, where they went a combined two for nine. Not figuring out the right balance between designing plays for Julio Jones and using Jones as a decoy cost them dearly in the red zone. The hope is that Calvin Ridley brings another dimension to the offense, while Austin Hooper makes himself a bigger presence. Both players alongside Mohamed Sanu should provide more than enough support for Jones. Although the superstar receiver will command plenty of double teams, there is going to be ample pressure on him and Ryan to connect for a touchdown. They can only improve on their preposterous conversion rate of connecting on one of 18 passes in the end zone last season per ESPN Stats and Information.Falcoholic FanPulse: More than three-quarters of Atlanta fans think the team is headed in the right direction Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across the NFL powered by SurveyMonkey. This team’s future still seems bright, as well, and I’d say I also feel very confident about the Falcons over the next 2-3 seasons, at the very least. In addition, readers and fans polled weighed in on bad rules. I’m not sure the helmet rule is actually worse than the catch rule, which has been the source of so much consternation in recent years, but I’m open to the argument. What is the worst NFL rule? How do you feel about the direction of this Falcons team?

Despite Rodgers missing every practice and being listed as “Questionable” for Sunday’s game, you knew damn well that there was no way he would miss this game. Let’s not kid ourselves. Rodgers had a noticeable limp against the Vikings, but he didn’t let that stop him from a very respectable performance, completing 30 of his 42 attempts for 282 yards http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/matt-prater-jersey-authentic , a touchdown and zero interceptions. He even decided to test out that knee on a third-and-7 where he would tuck and run for exactly 7 yards and a first down. I would only feel comfortable against the Packers if Brett Hundley were under center or Rodgers had both arms and both legs tied up. Even Tonya Harding wouldn’t be able to stop Aaron Rodgers from being Aaron Rodgers. In other news, Clay Matthews was at the butt-end of a roughing the passer call that ultimately costed the Packers the game. Like the Lions, the Packers intercepted a pass, but had it taken away due to a poor call from the officials. Love him or hate him, I don’t see any malice in this hit, and even the body weight rule doesn’t come into play here. Here’s what referee, Tony Corrente, had to say about the play:Yikes. This call is even worse than the call on Diggs, sorry Lions fans, but we’re not the only team that gets bad calls. I was also really impressed with the young corners that the Packers have out there in Josh Jackson and Jaire Alexander as well. If not for that roughing the passer call, Alexander would have had a pivotal interception that could have sealed the win, and he also scooped up the ball after a punt block from Geronimo Allison for a TD early in the game. Imagine a Packers team with an actual secondary. I don’t like it.Next game: at Washington (1-1)MinnesotaOh boy, I know Minnesota isn’t really high on the list of divisional rivals that most of us hate the most, but I still have to admit that I’m always going to get the sense of schadenfreude watching their kicking struggles. Of course, Carlson has now since been released after that awful performance against the Packers. Poor Daniel Carlson; no one deserves this.Zimmer, you’re an absolute savage.Unlike Carlson, Kirk Cousins did not shit the bed. His 425 passing yards was second in the NFL during Week 2 and was tied-for-second with four touchdowns (Patty Mahomes, baby). Cousins might be a better talent than Case Keenum, but it’ll still be hard for him to match Keenum’s efficiency with the Vikings last year. Cousins is certainly on the right track http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/sam-martin-jersey-authentic , and his two stud receivers (Diggs and Thielen) are only making things easier for him.Dalvin Cook continues to struggle behind a mediocre-at-best Vikings O-line and now has 26 rushes for 78 yards and 3.0 yards per carry this year, but I’d still be worried to see what he can do to the Lions (sigh). On the defensive side of the ball, Zimmer’s defense is as scary as ever.Next game: vs. Bills (0-2)The Chicago Bears beat the Seahawks on Monday Night Football, 24-17This was an ugly one on both sides for each offense, but it was the Bears’ defense that came out on top and dominated, with Khalil Mack taking over in big moments once again (thanks, Gruden). Prince Amukamara also had himself a game, allowing only 36 yards on seven throws in his direction and sealed things off with a pick-six midway through the fourth quarter. The Bears’ offense kicked things off with a 10-play, 96 yard touchdown drive and never looked back, as they would hold the lead for the rest of the game. Despite Russell Wilson’s best efforts, his two late turnovers put the game on ice, and his tendency of holding onto the ball for too long led to six Bears sacks.Mitchell Trubisky continues to struggle for the Bears, lacking awareness and accuracy in big moments, and you have to think that once Chicago finally finds their franchise QB, this team is going to be scary to deal with. The rest of the offense is pretty talented, however. Jordan Howard struggled against Seattle’s defense—as did the rest of the rushing offense—with only 35 yards on 14 carries, but Allen Robinson, their biggest free agency addition, has looked great through two games http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/tavon-wilson-jersey-authentic , notching 10 receptions for 83 yards against the Seahawks. Next game: at Cardinals (0-2)NFC North Week 2 standingst-1. Green Bay Packers (1-0-1)t-1. Minnesota Vikings (1-0-1)3. Chicago Bears (1-1)4. Detroit Lions (0-2)If I’m not mistaken, the Packers and Vikings tiebreaker, through two weeks, would come down to the fourth tie-breaker, which is Strength of Victory, where the Packers currently have the edge. It’s early, but if the Lions lose to the Patriots on Sunday Night Football next week, it’s already going to be a tough, uphill climb for them, as I could easily see each division rival adding another one to the win column. I know, “Any Given Sunday” and all that, but the Bills should be a gimme for the Vikings, and the Cardinals haven’t proven to be much of a threat either. I think Washington is a sneaky good team, but I’m not going to bet against the Packers any time soon.I don’t believe in must-win games this early in the season, but a win at home to finally get the Lions on the board would be huge, especially against a powerhouse like the Patriots, who are coming off of an uncharacteristically bad blowout loss at the hands of the Jaguars.

We all know the Detroit Lions offense will live and die with Matthew Stafford Youth Golden Tate III Jersey , but perhaps the key to success in 2018 will be the other side of the ball. If the defense continues to flail, Stafford will only be able to take them so far. If Matt Patricia can work his magic, suddenly this team’s ceiling will be much higher. But which player will lead this defensive group. Who will come out as the defensive player of the year in 2018? We asked that question to all of our staff. These are their answers.Who will be the Lions’ defensive player of the year in 2018?Mike PaytonI think most people will go with Darius Slay here, and they won’t be wrong. Slay is easily one of the top two or three corners in the league. But for me, this defense is all going to roll through the veteran leadership of Glover Quin. Chris PefettDarius Slay. Finger wags will be had, things will be intercepted. Life goes on.Mansur ShaheenDarius Slay. There aren’t as many candidates for Lions Defensive MVP as I’d like there to be. Slay is far and away the most valuable player on this defense and his presence in the secondary makes up for the many weaknesses Detroit has elsewhere. He went toe-to-toe with some of the best in the business last season and there is no reason to believe he won’t be just as good again in 2018. The 2017 first-team All Pro is one of the best corners in the NFL and is one of the lone things to look forward to on out defense this season.Ryan MathewsDevon Kennard. The phrase “most valuable player” and “Lions defense” do not belong next to one another, but I have to pick someone. Nobody should throw in Darius Slay’s direction, which makes him uber-valuable as he shuts down his side of the field. Glover Quin will patrol the back end of this defense in a way few other safeties in the league can, but if I’m an opposing team, I’m picking on the rest of the secondary for four straight quarters. But the Lions might have a player who can make it difficult for visiting quarterbacks to get those throws off.If there was anything encouraging about the defense this preseason, it was Devon Kennard’s presence on the edge. He was the Lions most efficient pass rusher, and looks like he will have more opportunities and responsibilities here in Detroit than he had in New York with the Giants. Because his impact will be more quantifiable and potentially more realized down after down, Kennard has the opportunity to be Detroit’s most valuable defender in 2018.John Whiticar Darius Slay.I wanted to be bold and say someone like Quandre Diggs (I think he’ll have a good year at safety) or Devon Kennard. In the end, Slay is the cornerstone of this secondary Womens Kenny Golladay Jersey , and on a defense lacking playmakers, Slay has been the lockdown corner they’ve needed. I don’t expect him to reach eight interceptions again this year, but that’s because teams will shy away from his direction (if they’re smart) and target someone like Nevin Lawson or Teez Tabor instead.Jeremy ReismanEzekiel Ansah. If there’s anyone who has flown under the radar this preseason, it’s oddly been one of the Lions’ best defensive players over the past four years, Ziggy. Yes, there are injury concerns. Yes, it appears his effectiveness may have worn off a little. Yes, he’s entering a new defensive system. But I think Ziggy has plenty left in the tank, and for a team desperate for pass rush, Matt Patricia is going to find every possible way to put Ansah in a position where he’s going to get to the passer. 10 sacks at a very minimum.Justin SimonIf the Lions have any hope on defense this year, they need Ezekiel Ansah to be MVP. Unfortunately I don’t see that happening. I’ll give it to Darius Slay. He has a chance to be the best cornerback in the NFL. He is a player on the rise and one if the true blue chip players the Lions have on the roster.Hamza Baccouche Glover Quin.Glover Quin has always been a top-tier performer at safety, even if he did so quietly. Last year that was especially the case as Darius Slay set a career high in interceptions, which meant Quin’s highlights were largely limited to consistent tackling, passes defended Youth Matthew Stafford Jersey , and blanket coverage. Teryl Austin’s defensive philosophy relied on the secondary keeping everything in front of them, and Glover Quin was the key to making that work with his stellar play at free safety. With Matt Patricia’s bend-but-don’t-break style of defense, Quin will play just as pivotal a role, and, much like last year, it may not show up on the stat sheet but that doesn’t mean it should be overlooked. Kellie RoweBoasting an outrageous 2017, cornerback Darius Slay led the league in interceptions (eight) and passes defended (26) in a season where he made his first All Pro and Pro Bowl teams. This is also a season where he went up against some of the NFL’s top receivers, like Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham Jr., Julio Jones, A.J. Green and more. Big Play Slay is ripe for another knockout season. He’s a physical player with the ability to disrupt the opposing teams’ top receivers who spent the offseason training with skilled defensive backs like Richard Sherman, Xavier Rhodes, Aqib Talib and Ahkello Witherspoon. He’s ready for 2018.Kent Lee PlatteIt’s going to be Darius Slay. It won’t be close. It’s going to be ugly. I hate to pick an obvious player here, but the Lions defense appears so bereft of talent that it really only comes down to one of three players. It’s either Slay http://www.thelionsfootballauthentic.com/devon-kennard-jersey-authentic , Glover Quin in his 30s, or the oft-injured Ezekiel Ansah. Easy choice for me. I expect this to look like a step back season for Slay as he’s forced to cover for longer than he’s used to, but he’ll still be the top player on this defense by a hot mile. Levi BlueI‘m going to give you two answers for this. Again, it’s tough to stray away from an obvious pick in Darius Slay. He’s easily a top 10 corner and consistently shows us why. Although he’s not the guy wearing the power helmet, he is, and will continue to be, one of the strongest weapons the Lions have, especially when it comes to defending the pass. That aspect of his game will be huge when when playing against Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins and an up-and-coming Mitchell Trubisky. However, I’d also love to see Ziggy get this honor. I hate to bring it back to the financial aspect of professional sports, but when you pay a single player $17+ million, you expect to see big results. Ansah is a fan favorite—who doesn’t love him?! I think we’d all love to see him get double-digit sacks, finally prove he can stay healthy and be the defensive monster we all hoped.Kyle YostDarius Slay. Here is the exact paragraph I wrote last season: “With weakness up front yet again, the Lions will struggle to put up any sort of pass rush. The more that Darius Slay can do to lock up a team’s best weapon Youth LeGarrette Blount Jersey , the less weight will fall on the rest of the defense. Slay still does not get the top-end recognition that other elite corners receive nationally, but a lockdown season could help continue to grow his name.”Jerry MalloryIt would be great if someone comes close to Slay for this award... provided Slay continues to play at his Pro Bowl level... which he will. Sadly, the odds of someone being as good as Big Play Slay are not likely. Perhaps a resurgence from Ziggy? Quin somehow has his best year after 30? Dream on. We are counting on those two to likely be top guys on this unit but Slay will be the top guy by a considerable amount.Lions sign OL Andrew Donnal, add S Rolan Milligan to practice squad As we wait to see just how serious T.J. Lang’s concussion is, the Detroit Lions made a move Wednesday afternoon suggesting we may not see the veteran offensive lineman in the near future. The Lions re-signed Andrew Donnal, filling the spot left by Tuesday’s waiving of cornerback Dee Virgin. The Lions claimed Donnal in the first round of waivers following roster cuts. Previously, Donnal spent time with the Rams and most recently the Baltimore Ravens. Early on with the Lions, Donnal suffered a knee injury that kept him out for a couple weeks. In the lead up to the Cowboys game, Donnal finally returned to practice, but the team waived him on Saturday. With the Lions potentially shorthanded due to Lang’s concussion—at least the fifth in his career—it makes sense to bring back Donnal for depth purposes. Though he isn’t expected to start in Lang’s place—that role likely belongs to Kenny Wiggins—Donnal adds depth in case another injury occurs along the offensive line. He’s also versatile enough to play tackle or guard. In addition to adding Donnal, the Lions brought back safety Rolan Milligan to the practice squad. Detroit is also dealing with a fair amount of injuries in the secondary. Quandre Diggs reportedly has a broken hand, while Tavon Wilson did not finish Sunday’s game due to a back injury. Both players’ status for this week is unknown, but Detroit returns to practice on Wednesday.

There wasn’t a lot to like about the Detroit Lions on Sunday as they got manhandled by the Dallas Cowboys. Don’t let the final score fool you Cheap Golden Tate III Jersey , the Cowboys had Detroit’s number all afternoon. The defense held Matthew Stafford and the Lions offense to 10 points through three quarters, and Ezekiel Elliott shredded the Lions defense both on the ground and through the air to the tune of 240 all-purpose yards. But another week, another unsung hero of the week. While the offense was unable to finish drives, the defense seemed to be absent for entire drives at a time. Nonetheless, today’s award goes to a defensive player. Unsung hero of the week: Romeo OkwaraOkwara doesn’t have much to show for on the stat sheet. He had one tackle on the day, in addition to one sack that was negated by a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty. That penalty, however, is exactly what earned him today’s honors. Late in the first half Youth Christian Jones Jersey , Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was facing pressure from the Lions defensive line in the pocket and spun out of traffic in a Russell Wilson-esque move. In the process, Prescott lost his footing and his knee grazed the ground, but he stood back up immediately as though nothing had happened. No whistles were blown, and a second later Romeo Okwara gave him a shove that landed Prescott on the ground—not wrapping him up, not driving him into the ground, not putting body weight on the quarterback; a clean sack, right?Wrong. No whistles were blown and Okwara was simply playing through the whistle in a totally clean way, but Walt Coleman and his crew were not having it and called Okawara for unnecessary roughness. That’s the biggest mark Okwara had on the game www.detroitlionsteamonline.com , but it seemed worthy of giving him this week’s honors. He showed up when it mattered most, sacking Prescott in a late-half drive as the Cowboys were sniffing field goal range, and was quite questionably called for a penalty for it. It was good hustle on his part for playing through the whistle and getting a very important sack given the context of where they were in the game. Whose performance caught your eye Sunday? Let us know in the comments.Saturday open thread: How many rushing yards will Kerryon Johnson have vs. Patriots? Much like the Detroit Lions, the New England Patriots have had a tough time stopping the opposing team’s running game through two weeks. Against the Texans, New England allowed Lamar Miller to rush for 98 yards on 20 carries, while Alfred Blue added another 36 on just five carries. Last week was a little better for them, allowing a total of 104 rushing yards on 24 carries—but much of that was Blake Bortles scrambling for 35 yards.Put it all together and the Patriots are allowing 135.5 rushing yards per game (27th) and 4.7 yards per carry (25th).That’s a matchup the Lions could actually exploit, given that Kerryon Johnson and LeGarrette Blount have breathed life into Detroit’s rushing attack. It’s still unproven overall Detroit Lions T-Shirt , but last week’s combined 81 yards rushing on 16 carries is enough for Lions fans to cling to for a shred of optimism in an otherwise bleak start to the season. So today’s Question of the Day is:How many rushing yards will Kerryon Johnson have on Sunday night? My answer: I ask specifically about Kerryon, because it appears he’s slowly becoming a bigger part of the offense. Obviously, injuries and ejections to Blount have probably bumped his time up thus far, but everything he’s done on the field has justified more snaps on offense.Anyways, in regards to the actual question, much of the answer will rely upon how the game is playing out. If the Lions fall behind quickly (again), obviously Johnson won’t get a lot of opportunities in the run game. If the Lions can keep it close or even (gasp) hold a lead, Detroit will likely try to keep the offense moving on the ground. That being said Detroit Lions Hats , I think there’s a pretty good chance this game turns into a shootout, and that means a lot of throwing the ball. I still think Kerryon will set a new high, but it will be something still pretty modest overall. Give me 10 carries for 52 yards. Your turn.Tweets from https://twitter.com/PrideOfDetroit/lists/lions-coverage

Broncos http://www.cardinalsfootballauthentics.com/phil-dawson-jersey-authentic preseason finale Stock Up: Mike GlennonThe starter for tonight’s game finished with 69 yards and a touchdown and looked like the solid backup quarterback that Arizona signed him to be in the fourth game.He took a few sacks but was in control of the offense and threw a dime of a pass for 26 yards to Trent Sherfield to get them into the redzone in the first half.If he’s not on the roster after cuts, it’ll be stunning given his NFL experience and the need for a veteran given Sam Bradford’s health concerns.Stock Down: Charles “Chad” KanoffTo be fair, I was tempted to put Kanoff’s stock up because his strengths in reading the field, delivering strong accurate downfield strikes and his poise in the pocket all showed up tonight. And I lost count of how many drops he had last night.But...he still took a bad sack for a fumble and on third down seemed to not be on the same page as his receivers and if he was going to make the final 53 he’d have had to not only be flawless but also see Mike Glennon wholly implode. He still seems to have a future in the league, though, and I’d expect that Arizona will like him enough to try to sign him to the practice squad.Stock Up: Zeke TurnerTurner had his coming out party tonight. He finished with 11 solo tackles, 1 sack, one tackle for loss and looked like a monster at linebacker. That’s right.Linebacker.Steve Keim confirmed in interview that Turner is making the same type of transition from safety to in the box linebacker and he seems to be a natural there and provides depth to a linebacker corp that sorely needs it given that they have very little depth behind their starters. He’s been a long-time thought to make the 53 for his special teams.Tonight he proved it with his defensive play.Stock Down: Cap CapiIf Turner exploded, Cap Capi was lacking in impact tonight. The fan favorite ended up with a few pressures and an almost sack that was nullified by a head-to-head penalty from another player but he still got pushed around in the run game and wasn’t the all-consuming force he’s seemed to have been at times. He’s got skills and maybe AZ puts him on the practice squad but the world-beater we’ve seen in the past preseasons wasn’t there tonight.Stock Up: Jacquizz SmithSmith received praise from GM Steve Keim as well as got an interception of Broncos QB Chad Kelly on a heads-up play...as a defensive end, no less!He might be a guy who seems to make the roster until we figure out what’s going on with Markus Golden but he’s looked good throughout camp as well.Stock Down: Dennis GardeckGardeck is an athletic freak who had a hustle play from one side of the field to another and has been a great story throughout camp. But a few missed tackles and some lacking areas and I don’t think he’s ready for the limelight just yet.If he had gotten that interception maybe I’d feel a bit differently but for now he seems set to head to the practice squad.Stock Up: Brandon WilliamsYou might be like “Huh?”Well Williams returned kicks late tonight and was solid in the tackling game which means he’s probably got a spot on the roster ahead of Campbell for the special teams play. He’s not going to be in AZ’s long-term plans at Corner and he was not the most impressive guy on the field but he fills a need and a hole on the roster behind Logan in case T.J. gets hurt without having to put a starter back there or a guy who hasn’t got some experience with that. How long he’ll hold onto that roster spot, though, remains to be seen.Stock Down: Chris CampbellCampbell was basically invisible on the night outside of getting beaten for a pass and overall hasn’t made the impact that most expected him to have.He struggled a bit in tackling and probably isn’t going to make the roster now that Brandon Williams as a kick returner has happened.But http://www.cardinalsfootballauthentics.com/jamar-taylor-jersey-authentic , for a team in need for CB’s he might definitely get picked up by another team or end up on a practice squad.Stock Up: Trent SherfieldSherfield was solid on special teams when he played and separated to catch a dime of a pass from Mike Glennon and even got some yards after the catch. His spot on the roster is probably the safest of Brice Butler, Greg Little and J.J. Nelson, and he proved that tonight.Stock Down: J.J. NelsonGreg Little caught a touchdown.Brice Butler got back and played and blocked well on Greg Little’s touchdown.Nelson started in the game and didn’t really do anything.I wouldn’t have noticed him if not for the fact that he was listed as a starter. It really does feel like this might be the last that we see of J.J. in a Cards uniform. We’ll see if that’s true or not soon enough.Honorable Mention: A.J. Howard & Elijhaa PennyPenny’s making this roster.Howard made a big push to get on it tonight even if he got burned on a touchdown to a tight end with a physical impression, including knocking a ball free that was ruled an incomplete catch instead of a turnover. Both are gritty, physical players with versatility, especially Penny who was making it happen as a running back in addition to being a fullback tonight. They both are also solid special teams players as well so don’t be surprised if one or both make the team and the other heads back to the practice squad as both are eligible.Dishonorable Mention: The defense as a wholeOnly one turnover forced and while normally you’d call that a good thing, expectations have been a bit, uh, higher for the Cardinals over this preseason given that they have been averaging almost 1.5 turnovers a quarter before this past game.Steve Wilks called the effort “sloppy” and the defense certainly looked like that at times.Chad Kelly had ups and downs but still managed to connect, Paxton Lynch looked good enough to where he basically passed at will against Arizona’s 2nd string players and the Denver running backs ran over Arizona at times, especially in the second half.To sum up:It’s thankfully, just preseason though and after going 3-1 and not the “dreaded” 4-0 Youth Ricky Seals-Jones Jersey , the guys who were expected to make the roster for the most part all stepped up tonight, while many who were on the bubble fell off, meaning that while there will always be tough decisions to make, at least some of them will be a little easier for Steve Keim after all.You can follow @blakemurphy7 on Twitter.Bird Droppings: Josh Rosen looks sharp, Phil Dawson takes the blame, Steve Wilks would do it again and more from the Cardinals 20-17 loss It's the worst start in the history of the Arizona Cardinals.Yes, that's right, the Cardinals have not started 0-4 since 1986, when they were still the St. Louis Cardinals, before their move to the desert.Yet, it's not all bad.Josh Rosen looks like he has a chance to be the real deal and the Cardinals were in a position to win their first game of the season for the second week in a row.The bad part is they are still winless, and we all know moral victories count for nothing in the NFL.Here's all the news coming out of the Cardinals loss to the Seattle Seahawks.Phil Dawson: “No Excuses” For Late Field Goal MissNotes: Earl Thomas breaks leg; More snaps for Benwikere Youth Budda Baker Jersey , BucannonDavid Johnson Heavily Involved Against SeahawksCardinals' star running back sets season highs in rushing and receivingJosh Rosen Does His Job, But Cardinals Fall To SeahawksRookie quarterback rallies team but Cards drop 20-17 decisionSeahawks aftermath, and waiting for the clickArizona Cardinals Home: The official source of the latest Cardinals headlines, news, videos, photos, tickets, rosters and game day informationJosh Rosen's Best Passes From His Starting Debut vs. SeahawksCatch the highlights from Cardinals rookie quarterback Josh Rosen as he takes on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 4.Dawson - 'No Excuses'K Phil Dawson meets the media after missing a 45-yard go-ahead field goal in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks.Johnson - 'Very Disappointed In Myself'RB David Johnson talks following the Cardinals' 20-17 loss on Sunday against the Seahawks.Fitzgerald - 'We Didn't Help Him'WR Larry Fitzgerald talks following the Cardinals' tough loss on Sunday and discusses the play of QB Josh Rosen.Rosen - 'We Are All Accountable'Rookie QB Josh Rosen meets the media following his first NFL start on Sunday.Seahawks vs. Cardinals - Game Recap - September 30, 2018 - ESPNGet a recap of the Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals football game.Josh Rosen throws for 180 yards, 1 TD in debut, but Cardinals fall to SeahawksRookie quarterback Josh Rosen did everything he needed to bring Arizona back for a come-from-behind win in his first NFL start, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals fell to the Seahawks 20-17.Josh Rosen combats WR drops http://www.cardinalsfootballauthentics.com/antoine-bethea-jersey-authentic , leads Cardinals to first half TDJosh Rosen's first start at quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals got off to a rocky start, but the QB kept his cool to lead the team to a first half lead.Rosen looks strong late in the game but Cardinals fallThe numbers didn't look pretty. We’re midway Youth Marcus Gilchrist Jersey  through the preseason and approximately two weeks from when the Raiders and every other NFL team must trim their roster from 90 players down to 53 on the active roster and as many as 10 on the practice squad. Each team will be cutting 37 players from the roster. That’s a lot of decisions to make. Many of which won’t be easy. It certainly wasn’t easy to predict them. With some 1184 players who will not be on their team’s roster come the cutdown day, the Raiders will be scanning the waiver wire to make more moves. They will also likely be placing a few players on injured reserve. And if they hope to designate any of them for return, they must be placed on IR after the cutdown day, at which point they could then bring back any players they cut who cleared waivers should they choose to do so.Here is how I see the 53-man roster shaking out:Quarterbacks In: Derek Carr, EJ Manuel, Connor CookOut: N/ARunning backsIn: Marshawn Lynch, Doug Martin, Jalen Richard, Keith Smith (FB)Out: Chris Warren III, DeAndre Washington, James Butler, Ryan Yurachek Wide receivers In: Amari Cooper, Jordy Nelson, Martavis Bryant, Ryan Switzer, Dwayne Harris, Marcell AtemanOut: Seth Roberts (trade?), Johnny Holton, Griff Whalen, Keon Hatcher, Isaac Whitney, Saeed BlacknallTight ends In: Lee Smith Youth Rashaan Melvin Jersey , Jared Cook, Derek Carrier Out: Paul Butler, Pharaoh Brown, Marcus BaughOffensive linemenIn: Donald Penn, Kelechi Osemele, Rodney Hudson, Gabe Jackson, Kolton Miller, Jon Feliciano, David Sharpe, Brandon Parker, Jordan SimmonsOut: Breno Giacomini (IR), Jylan Ware, Ian Silberman, Denver Kirkland, Oday Aboushi, James Stone, Cameron HuntDefensive linemenIn: Khalil Mack, Bruce Irvin, Mario Edwards Jr, Justin Ellis, Maurice Hurst Womens Frostee Rucker Jersey , PJ Hall, Arden Key, Tank Carradine, Shilique CalhounOut: Eddie Vanderdoes (IR), Treyvon Hester, Fadol Brown, Frostee Rucker, Gabe Wright, Shakir SotoLinebackersIn: Tahir Whitehead, Derrick Johnson, Emmanuel Lamur, Marquel Lee, Nicholas Morrow, Kyle WilberOut: James Cowser, Azeem Victor, Jason CabindaCornerbacksIn: Gareon Conley, Rashaan Melvin, Nick Nelson, Daryl Worley, Antonio HamiltonOut: Leon Hall, Shareece Wright, Dexter McDonald Youth Gabe Jackson Jersey , Raysean Pringle, Antwuan DavisSafetiesIn: Reggie Nelson, Karl Joseph, Marcus Gilchrist, Erik Harris, Shalom LuaniOut: Obi Melifonwu (IR), Quincy Mauger, Dallin Leavitt, Special teamers In: Eddy Pineiro, Johnny Townsend, AndrewDaPaolo Out: Mike NugentPractice squadRB Chris Warren IIIWR Johnny HoltonTE Paul ButlerOL Ian SilbermanOL Denver KirklandDE Fadol BrownDT Treyvon HesterLB James CowserLB Azeem VictorS Dallin LeavittFollow @LeviDamienDeAndre Washington has ‘minor’ knee surgery, expected to miss rest of Raiders preseason In the battle for the role of change-of-pace back for the Raiders, DeAndre Washington won’t have any more chances to prove himself worthy. He missed last Saturday’s game against the Rams with a knee injury that will require arthroscopic knee surgery that Jon Gruden expects will keep him out the last two games of the preseason.“He had a minor scope on his knee,” Gruden said of Washington’s status. “He will not play against Green Bay. I don’t know that he’ll play against Seattle either, but he’s recovering quickly.”Washington played well in the preseason opener against the Lions. In just nine snaps, he had 6 carries for 38 yards (6.1 yards per carry). That plus his camp — in which he missed a couple days for “personal reasons” — will have to stand. And, of course, he has put on tape his first two NFL seasons. His main competition has been Jalen Richard, although if you think of it in terms of sheer number of backs, Chris Warren III has also made a case for one of those spots with his outstanding preseason. Washington being injured last week helped open the door for Warren to put up 110 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Follow @LeviDamien
