GLENDALE Eagles Authentic Jerseys , Ariz. — The Anaheim Ducks and Arizona Coyotes will end the NHL regular season the way they began it, by playing each other. What’s interesting is how that first game back on Oct. 5 set the stage for both teams’ seasons to follow.

The Coyotes, in their first game under new coach Rick Tocchet, led 4-1 at the Honda Center following Christian Fischer’s goal at 13:50 of the second period, only to give up four consecutive Ducks goals and lose 5-4, with Rickard Rakell scoring the game-winning goal at 16:30 of the third period.

Arizona (29-40-12) went on to lose its next 10 games, going 0-10-1 to start the season, and never recovered despite a respectable second-half surge in which it has gone 20-13-7 this calendar year. The Coyotes still haven’t reached the postseason since 2011-12.

Anaheim (43-25-13) took that first game and built its sixth consecutive playoff season Isaiah Oliver Jersey Falcons , with its opponent and its playoff seeding to be determined by its final regular-season game Saturday night at Gila River Arena.

The Ducks moved into third place in the Pacific Division, one point ahead of the Los Angeles Kings, by beating the Dallas Stars 5-3 Friday night behind right wing Jakob Silfverberg’s goal and two assists.

They trail second-place San Jose by only one point, so if the Ducks beat Arizona and the Sharks lose Saturday to the Minnesota Wild, Anaheim will claim second place and home ice for the first round of the playoffs. However, should the Ducks lose and the Kings beat the Stars at the Staples Center, Anaheim would fall back to being a wild-card team.

“It’s a long season, and we worked hard to make it Youth Denver Broncos Jerseys ,” Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin said. “Now that we’ve made it, we need to take the next step and we’re going to need everybody going. … Everybody in here is hungry for more. Now we’ve got to take that next step.”

The Ducks will head into the postseason as one of those teams no opponent really wants to play. They’ve won four in a row and are 9-1-1 in their last 11 games, 16-5-2 in their last 23 games and 24-10-4 since their bye. They’re 2-1 against the Coyotes.

“We felt if we played the right way and gave ourselves a chance, this group was capable of putting together a longer string of wins and qualify for the playoffs,” coach Randy Carlyle said. “Now the goal changes.”

And it all began with that momentum-shifting win at the Honda Center six months ago.

That’s not to say the Coyotes will go into the offseason without any significant positives.

Goaltender Antti Raanta proved to be a true No. 1 goalie once he was fully healthy — he is 21-16-6 with a shiny 2.24 goals-against average — and was rewarded this week with a $12.75 million, three-year contract extension.

Reliable backup goalie Darcy Kuemper also is locked up for multiple seasons, giving the Coyotes strength at a position that was remarkably weak when Raanta was hurt at the start of the season – contributing to the terrible start.

Clayton Keller, the 19-year-old center Cheap Atlanta Falcons T-Shirts , started strong with 11 goals in his first 16 games and is finishing strong, too, with five goals and 12 assists in his last 14 games – giving him 23 goals and 65 points for the season.

Center Derek Stepan (56 points) had a solid season in his first year with Arizona, especially from a leadership standpoint. Oliver Ekman-Larsson recovered from a slow start to have a typical season for one of the Western Conference’s best two-way defensemen.

Defenseman Kevin Connauton has scored 10 of his 11 goals since Feb. 1.

Still, the Coyotes’ 4-3 loss Thursday at Vancouver was another defeat that summed up their season, despite their 6-3-1 record in their last 10 games. They led 3-1 in the third period, but didn’t get a shot off the entire period and went on to lose in overtime on Daniel Sedin’s second goal of the game, set up by brother Henrik in the soon-to-retire twins’ final game on home ice.

“I’m embarrassed for us we couldn’t get a shot on net Youth Troy Apke Jersey ,” Tocchet said. “A couple of guys showed up, but that was about it.”

Now, for the sixth consecutive season, the Coyotes won’t show up in the playoffs. And, for a sixth consecutive season, the Ducks will. And the roots of both streaks go back to that Oct. 5 game.

KANSAS CITY Billy Price Jersey Elite , Mo. — The Cincinnati Reds have the worst record in the National League at 24-43, but they still have a better record than the Kansas City Royals.

The Reds beat the Royals 5-1 in 10 innings Tuesday. The Royals have dropped eight of their past nine and are 22-45 overall. Only the Baltimore Orioles (19-47) have a worst record.

The Royals are 23 games below .500 for the first time since Sept. 13, 2011, when they were 63-86.

The Reds will go for a sweep of the two-game mini-series in Kansas City on Wednesday night. The Reds’ victory Tuesday was their first over the Royals since June 12, 2010.

Right-hander Tyler Mahle of the Reds and Jason Hammel of the Royals are scheduled starting pitchers for the series finale.

Mahle (4-6, 4.33 ERA) is 1-0 in two June starts, allowing 11 hits and two earned runs in 10 innings Customized Washington Redskins Jerseys , while striking out 11 and walking four.

This will be Mahle’s first time facing the Royals, but not his first time on the Kaufman Stadium mound. He threw a mound session before the 2013 draft when the Reds chose him in the seventh round.

“They had a high school workout,” Mahle said. “Pitchers just threw a bullpen off the game mound; that was it. All the scouts were here.”

He said never pitching against the Royals does not change his preparation.

“It’s the same between every start,” Mahle said. “I prepare to go out there and hit my spots and compete. It’s a new team, and I’ve never seen them play before, so I’m going to do my homework and kind of make a game plan out of it.”

He said he pitches not to the Royals’ weaknesses, but his strengths.

“You always play to your own strength Youth P.J. Hall Jersey ,” he said. “We’re going to find out what their weaknesses are and kind of find something there in the middle. I throw a lot of fastballs, but if there’s a guy who likes a lot of fastballs, it kind of collides there.

“But, at the same time, if you hit spots, good things are going to happen. Obviously if you throw it down the middle, he’s going to hit it Cheap Houston Texans T-Shirts , but if you hit a corner, or something like that, always if you make your pitch, good things are going to happen.”

Good things happened to the Reds in the Tuesday victory. They trailed 1-0 entering the ninth, but Tucker Barnhart led off the inning with a blast off Kelvin Herrera that landed in the Royals’ bullpen.

“That is against one of the best closers in the game, so that was huge,” Reds manager Jim Riggleman said. “Both pitchers are pitching so good it’s probably going to be a home-run type game. Nobody was putting a rally together. They got one and we got one Youth Roquan Smith Jersey , and our bullpen really did a great job.”

Hammel (2-6, 5.12 ERA) is 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA in his last four starts after a 13-start winless streak in which he went 0-8 with a 7.28 ERA. He has issued two or fewer walks in 10 of his 13 starts this season.

Hammel is 0-3 with a 4.70 ERA in five home starts this year and is winless in his last seven Kauffman Stadium starts dating to Aug. 20.

He is 4-1 with a 3.42 ERA in 12 career outings (11 starts) against the Reds. He has won his last four starts against Cincinnati with a 0.75 ERA, but has not faced the Reds since 2016.

The big bats in Arizona’s lineup provided the power Youth DJ Moore Jersey , the leadoff man the table-setting. The starting pitcher got the Diamondbacks through six innings with minimal damage, the defense had a couple of gems behind him, and the bullpen came through again.

As wins go, this one could not have followed the game plan any better.

David Peralta hit two solo homers, Matt Koch pitched six effective innings in a combined four-hitter and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the New York Mets 6-3 on Thursday night.

”A pretty well-played game start to finish,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. ”That’s the way you think about things before the game.”

Koch (5-3) gave up solo homers to Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto, but only one other hit.

Peralta and Paul Goldschmidt hit solo homers off Jason Vargas (2-5) to help give Arizona a 3-1 lead early. Amed Rosario pulled the Mets within a run on solo homer off Archie Bradley in the eighth inning Youth Brian Allen Jersey , but Peralta hit his 14th of the season off Jacob Rhame in the bottom half.

Jake Lamb added a solo shot later in the eighth and Brian Boxberger worked a perfect ninth for his 15th save in NL West-leading Diamondbacks’ sixth win in seven games.

The Mets, like the Diamondbacks, had a strong start to the season, followed by a lull. While Arizona is back on track, winning 12 of 16, New York is not. The Mets failed to score more than three runs for the 10th straight game and lost for the 10th time in 11 games.

”You can’t sit there and think they are never going to come around,” Mets manager Mickey Callaway said. ”We go out there every day and try to do our best to prepare them and they do the same thing.”

Nimmo at least got the Mets’ trip to the desert started off right Youth JK Scott Jersey , hitting a solo homer in the first inning that barely cleared the wall in right. Conforto hit another solo shot off Koch in the sixth, pulling New York to 3-2.

That was about all they could manage against Koch, who allowed two runs before being replaced Yoshihisa Hirano to start the seventh.

”The command was pretty good, the cutter better, the curveball when I needed it, the changeup was off and on a little bit,” Koch said. ”But for the most part it was good.”

Vargas has pitched better since a shaky start to the season Cheap Mike Remmers Jersey , going 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA over his last four starts. He was moved up in the rotation to start against Arizona while Steven Matz deals with a blister on his throwing hand.

Vargas got through five innings against the Diamondbacks, giving up Ketel Marte’s RBI single in the second inning, Goldschmidt’s solo homer in the third and Peralta’s leadoff homer in the fourth

Vargas allowed three runs on five hits with five strikeouts.

”I made some good pitches, got out of some jams I out myself into a little bit, but I felt I threw the ball well,” Vargas said.

HIRANO DOMINATING

Hirano has been dominated for the Diamondbacks this season, posting a 1.50 ERA in 32 games. He’s been lights out recently Cheap Cincinnati Bengals T-Shirts , pushing his scoreless streak to 18 games (15 2/3 innings) with a perfect seventh inning.

Hirano reminds Lovullo of fellow Japanese pitcher Koji Uehara, who pitched for the Boston Red Sox while he was the bench coach there.

”They do remind me of one another because they’re fearless, attack the zone, can make pitches in both corners of the zone,” Lovullo said. ”They understand and both have outstanding splits.”

DIAMONDBACKS MOVES

The Diamondbacks reinstated RHP Jorge De La Rosa (Achilles bursitis) from the 10-day disabled list and optioned RHP Silvino Bracho to Triple-A Reno. De La Rosa was 0-2 with a 3.54 ERA in 27 games before going on the DL.

Bracho was 2-0 with a 1.42 ERA in 11 games with Arizona.

When given the choice Youth Vita Vea Jersey , the Milwaukee Bucks will always prefer to have Giannis Antetokounmpo on the court closing out tight games.

They’re still winning while the All-Star forward rests a sore right ankle, a good sign for a team jockeying for playoff seeding in the East.

Coach Joe Prunty said it was too early to determine Antetokounmpo’s status for the regular-season finale Wednesday at Philadelphia, though he liked what he saw at practice. The NBA’s fourth-leading scorer (27.1 points) has missed the last two games because of the ankle injury.

”The bottom line is that it’s progressing, that’s the positive,” Prunty said after practice Tuesday.

A win over the 76ers allows the Bucks to clinch the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. A loss means that they could fall as low as eighth Jalyn Holmes Jersey Vikings , depending on how the Washington Wizards fare over their last two games.

Without Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee has beaten 50-loss teams in the New York Knicks and Orlando Magic. It’s a positive since the Bucks have been prone at times to playing down to the level of their opponents, especially those that can hit 3s.

Prunty’s team appears to be getting closer to full strength after winning three of their last four games, and five of their last seven. But the medical report has kept Prunty busy fielding questions about how much time injured players need to regain chemistry with the rest of the team.

Guard Malcolm Brogdon is working back into the rotation after the 2016-17 NBA Rookie of the Year followed a 30-game absence with a left quad injury. Brogdon appears to be fine after he played 14 minutes in his return his return Monday in the win over Orlando, Prunty said Youth New York Giants Jerseys , and should play Wednesday.

Guard Matthew Dellavedova is also trying to come back from a sprained right ankle that has kept him out for two months.

”It does make it difficult, because you look at last night – Malcolm plays, but he’s not out there with Giannis, so that timing is going to be a little off,” Prunty said. ”But we are where are. We’ve got to find a way to make it work Tarvarius Moore Jersey 49ers , and we will.”

Prunty does have other healthy proven scoring options in forwards Khris Middleton and Jabari Parker, along with point guard Eric Bledsoe. Parker is back to averaging about 30 minutes a night, two months after returning from a left knee injury.

Bledsoe is shooting about 50 percent from 3-point range over the last seven games, giving defenders the difficult decision of whether to play him more tightly at the perimeter at the risk of letting him blow past them on the dribble. Prunty especially likes the way that Bledsoe has been running the offense of late.

”We definitely know we can’t win the whole thing without (Antetokounmpo). But at the same time, we’ve got a lot of confident guys in the room Cheap Customized Los Angeles Rams Jerseys ,” Bledsoe said. ”We’re trying to get everybody on the same page because we’re going to need everybody.”

Body camera video showing police using a stun gun on an NBA player over a parking violation is just the latest setback for efforts to improve relations between Milwaukee officers and the city’s black population.

The confrontation involving Sterling Brown of the Milwaukee Bucks also represents the first major challenge for new Police Chief Alfonso Morales Youth Atlanta Falcons Jerseys , who took the job in February promising to restore public trust in a department besieged in recent years by excessive-force lawsuits.

”Milwaukee has all the ingredients to be a great city, but each time an incident like this occurs, we are reminded of how much work we still have to do,” the city’s Common Council said in a statement Thursday.

Morales, a lifelong Milwaukee resident born to Mexican immigrants, pledged to be more transparent with cases of police misconduct, and he’s already faced TV cameras twice this month to apologize for his officers’ actions. The other case involved four officers caught on video kicking and punching an African-American man while he was restrained on the ground.

The Jan. 26 video of Brown showed how a simple interaction quickly escalated after an officer approached him about parking in a handicap spot around 2 a.m. at a Walgreens drug store. When their conversation became tenser, the officer called more squad cars for help. As Brown is surrounded by four officers, he’s asked to take his hands out of his pockets and a scuffle ensues. Within seconds Dallas Cowboys Jerseys Womens , one officer yelled ”Taser! Taser! Taser!”

The video became public after the department finished its internal investigation.

The officers were disciplined because they ”acted inappropriately,” Morales said. Brown was not charged with anything.

The chief did not name the officers or say how they were disciplined. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, citing unidentified sources, said three officers received suspensions ranging from two to 15 days.

”I am sorry this incident escalated to this level,” said Morales, who left a news conference Wednesday without taking questions.

The police department did not identify the races of the officers, but most of them in the video appeared to be white. Brown is black.

A 2017 analysis by the Journal Sentinel found that black officers made up about 18 percent of the department, in a city that is roughly 39 percent black.

Morales’ predecessor, Edward Flynn Cheap Logan Woodside Jersey , had a combative relationship with some city officials during his decade on the job. The Common Council became so frustrated with him that members passed a resolution asking the state to empower the council to fire him. On Thursday, a council member repeated that request, saying change in the department can only happen if the chief is accountable to city leaders instead of a civilian commission appointed by the mayor.

”We can have all sorts of community meetings and groups and say all these wonderful things. But ”at the end of the day, the police chief can do whatever he wants without any consequences,” Alderman Tony Zielinski said.

Morales’ spokeswoman said he was not available for an interview.

Brown has indicated he will file a lawsuit against the police. If he does, the complaint will add to a long list of litigation the city has faced over officer misconduct.

Last year, Milwaukee paid $2.3 million to settle a lawsuit over the death of Dontre Hamilton, a mentally ill black man fatally shot by a police officer after the officer roused him from a park bench downtown.

In 2016, the city paid $5 million to settle a lawsuit by 74 black residents who said police illegally strip-searched them between 2008 and 2012. The American Civil Liberties Union in Wisconsin also has a pending lawsuit alleging the department has for years targeted black and Latino residents by stopping and questioning them without cause.

”It’s just another black eye for the city of Milwaukee on a national level Cheap Customized Pittsburgh Steelers Jerseys ,” Alderman Khalif Rainey said.

A day before the Brown video was released, Morales posted a short video on YouTube that showed him walking through neighborhoods, talking to residents and emphasizing his desire to restore trust in the department.

Rainey bashed the video, saying it’s not enough.

”First and foremost, it’s going to require something more than a video, a nice fluffy PR effort,” he said. ”So it’s really going to require the police to get out here in the community and really get integrated in neighborhoods and build a rapport with actual people on a first-name basis.”

Jonathan Safran, a Milwaukee attorney who worked on the Dontre Hamilton case and lawsuit over illegal strip searches, said he’s optimistic that settlement discussions in the ACLU lawsuit could lead to changes in how officers behave during traffic and pedestrian stops.

”The issue in my mind going forward Youth Los Angeles Rams Hats , and this is a good example,” he said, referring to Brown’s case, ”is should officers act as warriors or should they should they act as guardians?”

SUNRISE Akeem Spence Super Bowl LI Jersey , Fla. — This is hard to believe, but it’s true.

Harri Sateri, who before last week could best be described as a 28-year-old career minor leaguer without a single NHL win in scant opportunities, is now the toast of the league.

On Monday, he was named the NHL’s Second Star of the Week — just behind Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Evgeni Malkin. Sateri had a 3-0-0 week that included a 1.67 goals-against average and a .946 save percentage.

“He’s like a veteran out there,” Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad told the media after Saturday’s 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. “It’s fun to play for a guy who is willing to come out of his net and make plays. He’s been unbelievable.”

Sateri will make his fifth consecutive start on Tuesday night when the Panthers (22-22-6) host the Vancouver Canucks (21-25-6) at the BB&T Center.

The Canucks have actually been better on the road (11-11-3) than at home (10-14-3). Florida is 12-8-3 at home.

Overall Panthers Marquis Haynes Jersey , Vancouver is 3-2-0 in its past five games, and the Canucks are expected to be without center Sam Gagner, who has been out since Thursday with a concussion. He has seven goals and 15 assists in 51 games.

The Canucks’ famed twins, center Henrik Sedin, who is third on the team with 34 points; and left winger Daniel Sedin, who is fourth with 32 points Authentic Cliff Avril Jersey , have been in the news lately.

The twins, who will turn 38 in September, are in the final year of their contracts. They have played their entire careers with the Canucks — 239 goals by Henrik and 383 goals by Daniel.

“We talked about it the other day,” Canucks general manager Jim Benning told The Vancouver Sun when asked about his Wednesday meeting with the twins. “It was a mutual agreement that we would just play out the year … and then sit down and talk.”

According to The Sun, Benning wants the twins — both future Hall of Famers — to return for at least one more year so they can mentor Bo Horvat and Calder Trophy contender Brock Boeser.

“They like the direction of the team,” Benning said of the twins.

Besides the twins Authentic John Kelly Jersey , the Canucks have pending unrestricted free agents such as defenseman Eric Gudbranson and left winger Thomas Vanek. Both players wore the Panthers sweater before landing in Vancouver.

Meanwhile, the Panthers, who are long shots to make the playoffs, are trying to ride the hot glove and stick of Sateri. Center Aleksander Barkov, Florida’s lone all-star this year, powers the offense.

Time is running out for the St. Louis Blues to make the playoffs.

Only two games remain in the regular season for St. Louis (43-31-6) Authentic Joe Kelly Jersey , which is on the outside looking in when it comes to the Western Conference playoff race. The Blues have a chance to move past the Colorado Avalanche for the second wild-card berth, but they cannot afford to stumble in the next 48 hours.

In other words, the pressure will be squarely on the Blues’ shoulders Friday night when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.

St. Louis trails Colorado by one point for the second wild-card spot with a game in hand after the Avalanche lost at San Jose 4-2 on Thursday. The clubs meet Saturday in Denver with a victory by the Blues over the Avalanche putting them in the playoffs. There could be other scenarios for St. Louis to reach the postseason pending Friday’s result in Chicago.

The Blackhawks (33-37-10) already have been eliminated from playoff contention for the first time in a decade. But it is safe to assume that a pride-filled Chicago roster — not to mention a raucous crowd — is energized at the possibility of crushing the postseason hopes of its longtime division rival.

“It’d be nice to see them miss the playoffs,” Blackhawks right winger Patrick Kane said to the Chicago Sun-Times this week. “So it’d be nice to have a hand in that.”

The animosity was apparent Wednesday night as Chicago stormed back from a two-goal deficit for a 4-3 victory over St. Louis. Defenseman Duncan Keith scored in the final seconds to complete the comeback and weaken the Blues’ playoff chances.

St. Louis goaltender Jake Allen took the blame for the loss. Other Blues players said nerves might have played a role.

“If you’re going to play nervous Authentic Joel Iyiegbuniwe Jersey , then you better play smart,” St. Louis coach Mike Yeo said to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The team vowed to perform better on the back end of its home-and-home series with Chicago.

“It (stinks), but at the end of the day, we have to stay positive Wholesale Oren Burks Jersey ,” Blues center Brayden Schenn said. “Two-game winning streak here to get into the postseason.”

Allen is expected to get another chance in net Friday for St. Louis. The 27-year-old is 27-24-3 with a 2.74 goals-against average and .906 save percentage in 58 games (55 starts) on the season. He is winless in his last four contests.

In 14 career games against Chicago, Allen is 8-5-1 with a 2.53 GAA and .915 save percentage.

The Blackhawks most likely will counter in net with Jean-Francois Berube, who made 31 saves during Wednesday’s victory. Berube is 3-5-1 with a 3.84 GAA and .893 save percentage on the season. He has made three career appearances against the Blues (1-0-1, 3.39 GAA Bryce Petty Super Bowl LI Jersey , .901 save percentage).

The game could mark the final appearance at the United Center for Blackhawks forward Patrick Sharp, whose contract expires at the end of the season. The 36-year-old has avoided specifics when asked about his future plans. Although Sharp’s future is up in the air Authentic Mike Napoli Jersey , coach Joel Quenneville and general manager Stan Bowman definitely will be back. Team president John McDonough announced Thursday that he planned to retain both despite missing the playoffs.

“We might have to reinvent ourselves a little bit,” McDonough said to The Athletic. “We might have to be a little bit creative. We might have to dial it up a little bit more. But I’m confident this is a group that’s going to do it. I’m certainly disappointed where we are right now.”

DENVER (AP) Nathan MacKinnon is counting on 18 Deadrin Senat Super Bowl LI Jersey ,000 of his rowdy friends to give the Colorado Avalanche a little bit of an extra buzz.

Maybe even throw Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne off his game.

Trailing the top-seeded Predators 2-0 in the first-round series, the Avalanche return Monday (10 p.m. EDT, NBCSN) to a building that’s certainly been something to write home about this season. Their 28 wins at the Pepsi Center in the regular season tied the franchise mark held by the 2000-01 squad that went on to capture the Stanley Cup.

Article continues below ...

”We have lots of confidence here,” said MacKinnon , whose team has dropped 12 straight to the Predators. ”The building has been a lot of fun this year.”

Colorado isn’t the only team hoping a change of scenery provides a change in momentum – Toronto returns to friendly confines down 2-0 in the series against Boston (7 p.m., NBCSN). The New Jersey Devils are in the same boat versus Tampa Bay (7:30 p.m., CNBC) heading into their first playoff home game since 2012.

Then there’s the San Jose Sharks, who are sitting pretty after two road wins against Anaheim (10:30 p.m. Chris Herndon Super Bowl LI Jersey , CNBC). Now at home, the Sharks get last change and the opportunity to dictate matchups.

”It’s a nice luxury being at home, having those matchups,” Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said. ”The bigger advantage is the crowd and the environment and being able to sleep in your own bed.”

For New Jersey, climbing back in the series boils down to this – avoiding big early deficits. They trailed the Lightning 3-0 in Game 1 and 5-1 in Game 2 before staging a comeback.

”We need to play as a group,” said coach John Hynes, who plans to make some lineup changes. ”We can’t have passengers.”

MacKinnon said the Avs need to clean up the little things against a savvy Predators team.

”We’re in a tough spot right now,” MacKinnon said. ”Two games at home. Hopefully Authentic Will Butcher Jersey , we can even up the series.”

The Predators fully expect a more tenacious rush from a youthful Colorado squad.

”They’re persistent,” Nashville forward Austin Watson said. ”There’s no quit in them.”

ENCORE

Boston hopes David Pastrnak packs his Game 2 performance for the trip to Toronto. The 21-year-old had three goals and three assists to become the youngest NHL player with six or more points in a playoff game, surpassing Wayne Gretzky, according to the Bruins website.

”When you’re breaking a Wayne Gretzky record, I hope he realizes at his young age how cool it is,” forward David Backes told reporters. ”Hopefully he had fun last night and enjoyed that moment because it is special.”

REASON FOR OPTIMISM

The Ducks can latch on to some recent history for optimism in coming back from an 0-2 deficit. They lost the first two games at home in the second round last year to Edmonton before rallying to win the series in seven games.

”That’s the situation we’re in. We have a good team,” Ducks forward Andrew Cogliano said. ”We have a team that’s been in these situations before.”

CAKE WALK

This definitely takes the cake: At the start of the playoffs, IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden Cheap Tyquan Lewis Jersey , a Nashville fan, proposed a wager to fellow racer, James Hinchcliffe, a Toronto Maple Leafs supporter. The driver with the team that bowed out of the Stanley Cup playoffs first had to bake the other a homemade cake and present it at an autograph session while wearing the opposing team’s sweater.

”Challenge accepted,” Hinchcliffe responded. ”They (Maple Leafs) are going to win it all. Nobody goes further than the team holding the Cup.”

Hinchcliffe added: ”Personally, I’m a red velvet guy.”

Newgarden said he prefers vanilla.

SAVING THE DAY

Avalanche coach Jared Bednar thought goaltender Jonathan Bernier played ”OK” in the first two games.

”If you look at the importance of goaltending this time of year, good is usually not good enough,” Bednar said.

Goaltending is on the minds of the Devils http://www.sanfrancisco49ersteamonline.com/cassius-marsh-jersey , too. Keith Kinkaid played well down the stretch, but has struggled in the postseason. He was lifted in the second period Sunday after giving up five goals on 15 shots.

Cory Schneider, who was the starter most of the season until a hip and groin injury in January sidelined him for a month, finished and did not allow a goal on 10 shots.

”There is still a lot of hockey to be played,” Devils forward Taylor Hall said, ”and a lot of hockey on home ice as well.”

McCoy was listed as questionable to play in Sunday’s AFC wild-card game after spraining his right ankle in a victory at Miami last week. He was carted off the field, sat out two days of practice and returned in a limited capacity Friday.

The big question now is how effective he will be against one of the league’s top defenses. McCoy accounted for nearly a third of Buffalo’s offensive production in the regular season.
