If this was the sixth time that I’ve led the NFL in sacks, I’d be doing back flips right now. You have to stay even-keeled and come to work and grind it out.”

These days, Miller feels like his role in the room and on the field is simple: Keep the team together. He’s stepping up to be even more of a leader under such trying times and with the fifth-ranked defense constantly carrying the load for a struggling offense. ”That’s what I can control. I can control my attitude and my energy,” said Miller, who signed a quarterback-like contract of $114.5 million two summers ago. ”I’ve had great examples of consistency from the leaders we had here before. I try to replicate that. I say all the time, `What would DeMarcus say or what would Peyton say? What would Tim Tebow do or Brian Dawkins?’ It’s an imprint they left behind on me and I’m trying to pay it forward.”

The New York Jets running back remained sidelined Wednesday with an ailing knee and is uncertain to play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

The Giants announced they were no longer in the mix to work out a trade for the Marlins slugger and NL MVP after having reached the parameters of a deal with new Miami CEO Derek Jeter and his team. The Cardinals also said Stanton had declined to accept a deal to St. Louis.

The leader of the U.S. Olympic Committee says the plan is to take a team to the Pyeongchang Games ”unless it’s legally or physically impossible.”

Returning to the site of his first World Cup victory, Paris dominated on home snow Thursday to end the season-long podium drought for Italy’s men’s team.

When he was an overly aggressive child, Paris was sent by his father to meditate amid grazing cows in the mountains. Now, he expends his energy on the world’s toughest downhill courses – or by playing heavy metal music with his guitar.

The start of the race was delayed for 45 minutes while course workers finished clearing the 40 centimeters (16 inches) of snow that fell on the piste Wednesday.

”I’m always happy when it snows. In winter you need snow,” said Paris, who comes from the Val d’Ultimo in Italy’s German-speaking Alto Adige region.

The snow softened the Stelvio’s bumps#4# making it less of a physical test than in past years – when most skiers doubled over in exhaustion at the finish.

”The right word is `easier’ but that doesn’t mean it’s easier to win,” Svindal said. ”It means it was easier to get to the finish line.”

Downhill world champion Beat Feuz of Switzerland finished fourth and Hannes Reichelt of Austria was fifth.

Svindal, who had won the previous two downhills, still leads the discipline standings.

With the sun moving in and out behind clouds and the course mostly in the shade to begin with, there were several ugly falls.

Dominik Schwaiger of Germany was airlifted off the course and brought to a local hospital with unspecified injuries after a high-speed crash. Guillermo Fayed and Matthieu of France were dealing with various bruises after similar falls and Travis Ganong of the United States was getting his knee checked at the U.S. team hotel.

An Alpine combined race is scheduled for the Stelvio on Friday.

BUFFALO Cheap Rashaan Gaulden Jersey , N.Y. (AP) The Buffalo Bills fired offensive coordinator Rick Dennison after the team finished 29th in offense this season.

The team announced the move on Friday. Their running attack fell to sixth after leading the league the past two seasons.

Buffalo’s offense topped 300 yards just nine times in 17 games and scored only eight touchdowns in its final seven games. Dennison’s play-calling was questioned after Buffalo scored just three points against Jacksonville in the franchise’s first playoff game in 18 years.

Dennison wasn’t coach Sean McDermott’s first choice for the job last offseason – that was former San Diego Chargers coach Mike McCoy. But McCoy took the Green Bay Packers’ offensive coordinator job and was fired midseason.

McCoy is expected to be a candidate to join McDermott’s staff in Buffalo.

Other possible candidates include former Seattles Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, former New York Giants head coach Ben McAdoo, former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Rob Cudzinski. Mike Shula Cheap Donte Jackson Jersey , the former offensive coordinator in Carolina, previously worked with McDermott and Bills general manager Brandon Beane.

McDermott was non-committal when discussing potential coaching staff changes during the season-ending news conference on Tuesday. The coach said any decisions would be his, but Beane would be involved with coordinating possible coaching changes with roster moves this offseason.

The play resulted in an offensive pass interference penalty on wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin and the Bills settled for a field goal in the 10-3 loss.

Before coming to Buffalo, Dennison was Denver Broncos offensive coordinator for two seasons. He was replaced in Denver by McCoy after coach Gary Kubiak retired.

Dennison was Kubiak’s offensive coordinator in Houston from 2010-13 and had a previous stint as the Broncos’ offensive coordinator from 2006-08.

The decision to part ways with Dennison also raised questions about the future of Taylor, who has one year left on his contract. Taylor’s production declined in his third year as a starter and he was benched in favor of rookie Nathan Peterman for a game at the Los Angeles Chargers in November.

The quarterback change backfired after Peterman threw five interceptions in the first half of a 54-24 loss.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The Indianapolis Colts’ troubles Sunday were printed out in black and white on the postgame stat sheet.

Heck, coach Chuck Pagano didn’t even need to look at the tape to dissect what went wrong in Indy’s 27-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Gates expressed optimism about his football future shortly after the Chargers’ resurgent season ended with a 30-10 rout of the rival Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

”I have a little saying that I say to my kids: I’ve still got the juice,” Gates said with a grin.

Gates will turn 38 years old in June, but the top-scoring tight end in NFL history does not sound ready to retire. He caught four passes for 46 yards against the Raiders in his second straight game of heavy work – and the final game of his current contract with the Chargers, his only team in 15 NFL seasons.

”I think for the last couple of months, I was kind of on the border,” Gates said. ”I was trying to figure out what I can do physically. So just going out there and getting an understanding of what I can do. Can I still play? Sometimes you need that reinforcement Cheap Mark Walton Jersey , because as you get up in age, you need to go out and physically do it, because it helps you mentally.”

Gates caught his 112th touchdown pass in early September, surpassing Tony Gonzalez’s record for TD catches by a tight end. He finished the season with 30 catches for 416 yards and three touchdowns while largely playing behind Hunter Henry, the Bolts’ breakout second-year tight end.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) The beginning of a playoff push appeared firmly in place for the Washington Redskins when they celebrated a touchdown giving them a 15-point lead in New Orleans with less than six minutes left.

What happened next left the Redskins mired in a slump.

Police say Langi was stopped at a traffic light in Foxborough on Oct. 13 when Conroy’s Jeep, going 50 mph, rear-ended him. The force pinned Langi’s car between the Jeep and the car in front of him.

Conroy had medications he said had been prescribed to him. He passed a Breathalyzer. He was not arrested, but will be summoned to court. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.

Battered by key injuries, the Seahawks needed their stars to show up, yet they became part of the problem.

Russell Wilson was not at his best early when Seattle was struggling to get anything started offensively. Whatever brief MVP campaign Wilson had going finally ended with his only value turning out to be a third-quarter touchdown pass to Luke Willson that kept the Seahawks from getting shutout.

Wilson was 14 of 30 passing for 142 yards and a touchdown. He fumbled trying to spin out of a sack and threw a backward pass that lost 23 yards trying to avoid another.

Wilson did get sacked seven times even though Seattle knew slowing the Rams pass rush was perhaps the biggest key. Doug Baldwin had one catch. So did Jimmy Graham – for minus-1 yard.

The lack of offense in the first half never allowed Seattle to switch field position. The Rams scored on six possessions in the first half that started at midfield or in Seattle territory.

Wagner played at less than 100 percent, and the Seahawks were without four defensive starters from the start of the season: Cliff Avril, Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and K.J. Wright, who suffered a concussion last week and did not recover in time.
