Giants injury report Eli Manning Jersey ,injured players — specifically tight end Evan Engram, linebacker Olivier Vernon and placekicker Aldrick Rosas — will be available for Thursday night’s critical game against the Philadelphia Eagles? Coach Pat Shurmur had a unique answer for that one on Tuesday.“You burn the ships on every game,” Shurmur said. Whoever can play plays, and then you reassess when the game is over.”The most encouraging news might have been about Engram, out since suffering an MCL sprain Week 3 vs. the Houston Texans. Shurmur said the talented second-year tight end would practice “full speed” on Tuesday to see if he could be ready to go on Thursday.Engram said today would be a “full test,” the “first full-speed day” for him since being injured. “I have good confidence. I feel good, but today is going to be the full test for me mentally and physically,” he said.As for Vernon, who has yet to play this season, Shurmur continued to say he was “hopeful” about the linebacker making his season debut vs. the Eagles. That’s the same thing we have heard the past two weeks, when Vernon practiced during the week before being ruled out of games.“He’s fighting his way back. Make no mistake, OV is trying to get back,” Shurmur said. “We all understand what a high ankle sprain can mean. He’s doing everything in his power to get back on the field, and when he’s back we’re going to welcome him.”As for Rosas Authentic Odell Beckham Jr Jersey , Shurmur again said he was “hopeful” the placekicker’s injured quad would be healthy enough for him to kick on Thursday. The Giants added Marshall Koehn, who lost a preseason competition for the job with Rosas, to the practice squad just in case Rosas can’t kick Thursday. Shurmur said the team would wait “as late as we have to” in order to make a decision on whether they would need to active Koehn.Week 6 Injury ReportPlayerPositionInjuryTues.Wed.Game StatusPlayerPositionInjuryTues.Wed.Game StatusEli Manning: Drew Brees “throwing it as good as ever” The New York Giants got their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Houston Texans 27-22. Following practice on Wednesday, Big Blue quarterback Eli Manning spoke with the media about the win and about the team moving forward. Below are some takeaways from his conversation with the media. On what he liked the most about the offense in Sunday’s game...“I liked a bunch of things, I thought we got off to a fast start, which is great, going down and getting the touchdown and responded and kept – first half was impressive,” Manning said. “Third quarter didn’t do as well, but when we needed a drive at the end, also responded and got a touchdown at the very end to seal the victory. Those are two good things to build off and knowing we have that ability to when you need a drive and you got to get something going, we can go make it.”On how the team can build off last week’s win...“I think last week we had great urgency and understanding what we had to fix it and get better,” Manning said. “I think you have to have that same mentality. We got to fix things from last week that there were mistakes and I think that’s the mindset is to get better and improve each and every week.”On whether Drew Brees is an inspiration for what he is doing at 39...“Yeah it’s been impressive,” Manning said. “What he’s been able to do Color Rush Jon Halapio Jersey , the way he’s playing this year, the last couple of years. He hasn’t dropped off, still moving around, making plays and throwing it as good as ever.”On what allows quarterbacks to play so long in the league...“It’s not extremely taxing on your body,” Manning said. “Besides your arm, practices aren’t brutal. Games you can take a few hits, but you don’t necessarily have to be fast or be explosive and those types of things which can kind of – you could lose at an older age, but guys are taking care of their bodies better, they’re taking care of their arm, more arm care and if you could still keep a strong arm and still keep your joints healthy where you can move around a little bit, you can continue to play.”

.Final roster cuts are looming http://www.authenticstampabaybuccaneers.com/cheap-jason-pierre-paul-jersey , and several young players competing for jobs have given coach Doug Marrone and his staff a lot to think about."The next 48 hours we're going to have to make some tough decisions," Marrone said after fourth-stringer Tim Cook ran for two touchdowns to help the Jaguars close the preseason with a 25-10 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night."Some of these young guys have played really well, and tonight was a good example," Marrone added. "They made a couple plays and we were able to come back and win."Cook scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards. Carroll Phillips picked up a fumble by rookie quarterback Austin Allen and ran it back 28 yards for another TD as Jacksonville used a 19-point third-quarter to turn a 10-3 halftime deficit into a 12-point lead.Regulars for both teams sat out the finale Thursday night in mostly empty Raymond James Stadium. A total of 34 players did not dress for the Jaguars, including every starter on offense and defense.Tampa Bay's starters had the night off, too, as did suspended quarterback Jameis Winston, who must sit out the first three games of the regular season for violating the league's personal conduct policy.Winston had a sharp preseason, completing 73 percent of his passes for 388 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He will be eligible to return to practice and play in Week 4, when Tampa Bay travels to Chicago."''That's the most challenging part," said Winston, who'll miss the Sept. 9 opener at New Orleans, as well as home games against defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia and Pittsburgh."I believe these guys will go out and execute, and we're going to get some wins," Winston added. "I can't wait to get back."Bucs coach Kirk Koetter said Winston has handled training camp and the impending suspension about as well as could have been expected."It's a situation that was handed down, and he's done what we've asked him to do," Koetter said. "And his play on the field, the most important thing of all is play on the field, was excellent."Ryan Fitzpatrick will fill in as the starter, with Ryan Griffin backing up the 14th-year pro, one of just four players in NFL history who've thrown TD passes for seven franchises. The Jaguars Youth Gerald McCoy Jersey , meanwhile, will head into their season opener against the New York Giants with heightened expectations after going 10-6, winning the AFC South and coming within one victory of reaching the Super Bowl last winter. With starter Blake Bortles sitting Thursday night, Cody Kessler and rookie Tanner Lee split playing time at quarterback for Jacksonville.Griffin, a fifth-year pro who has yet to take a snap in a regular-season game, completed 17 of 27 passes for 151 yards and one TD in the opening half for Tampa Bay. Rookie Justin Watson scored the Bucs' lone touchdown on a 2-yard reception in the first quarter.STAT SHEETKessler completed 4 of 6 passes for 32 yards for the Jaguars. Lee went 11 of 22 for 164 yards and no interceptions. Meanwhile, Jacksonville rushed for 151 yards, with Brandon Wilds gaining 88 yards on 17 carries and Cook finishing with 51 yards on 16 attempts.ROOKIE STRUGGLESThe Bucs drafted RB Ronald Jones II in the second round in hopes of sparking an anemic rushing attack. However, the rookie wasn't very productive in the preseason. He carried 10 times for 4 yards Thursday night, finishing the preseason with 22 yards on 28 attempts. Jones also had one reception for 37 yards in four games. Koetter conceded there's concern about not being able to get Jones going in games. "I can't give you a good answer for it," Koetter said, adding he has seen flashes from Jones in practice.NATIONAL ANTHEMPlayers on both sidelines remained standing for the national anthem after observing a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims of last weekend's shooting during a video game tournament shooting in Jacksonville.INJURIESJaguars: None announced.Buccaneers: CB Amari Coleman left in the second half and was being evaluated for a concussion.NEXT UPJaguars: Season opener at New York Giants on Sept. 9Buccaneers: Begin three-game stretch without Winston, opening season at New Orleans on Sept. 9. Jameis Winston's three-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy predictably was a hot topic of discussion when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reported for training camp. That is, except for the quarterback himself. The fourth-year pro, who'll miss the start to a season in which the Bucs are hoping to end a decade-long playoff drought, was not among three players the team made available for interviews Wednesday at One Buccaneer Place.Instead, Winston and coach Dirk Koetter are scheduled to speak publicly about the suspension for the first time after practice Thursday.Meanwhile, teammates Lavonte David, Mike Evans and Ali Marpet expressed support for the 24-year-old quarterback, who was disciplined after the league's investigated an accusation that Winston groped a female Uber driver during a ride in Scottsdale, Arizona, in March 2016.David said Winston http://www.authenticstampabaybuccaneers.com/cheap-vernon-hargreaves-iii-jersey , who was drafted No. 1 overall in 2015 despite questions about his behavior in college at Florida State, made a "silly mistake back in the day" but that the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner isn't a bad person."He knows what he's done. He's going to learn from it because from whenever it happened to now, he's matured a lot," David said, adding Winston is engaged to be married to his long-time girlfriend and recently became a father."It happened a long time ago. It was a bad decision by him," the linebacker, entering his seventh pro season, said. "I'm 100 percent sure he's learned from it."The NFL concluded Winston violated the league's personal conduct policy by touching the Uber driver "in an inappropriate and sexual manner without her consent."The quarterback apologized for the incident in a statement released on Facebook last month, but has not spoken publicly about it since the NFL announced its findings.During his college career at Florida State, a fellow student said Winston raped her but he was never charged. The university settled a Title IX lawsuit over its handling of the allegations with Winston's accuser, Erica Kinsman, in January 2016 for $1.7 million.Evans said Winston is "one of my best friends." And while the receiver added "obviously I was hurt by" what happened, he reiterated he remains supportive and is confident backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick can help the Bucs stay afloat during the suspension.Tampa Bay has missed the playoffs 10 consecutive season and hasn't won a postseason game since the club's 2002 Super Bowl run.Marpet, an offensive lineman who was part of Winston's draft class, said he learned of the suspension from the quarterback himself."We talked, and his mindset is how can he be the best teammate moving forward. I think he's doing that. We all support him. We're one family," the fourth-year guard said."For the first three games, we'll have a different quarterback," Marpet added. "But again, I think we'll do a really nice job. We believe in Fitzy, and there are a lot of other talented players that can step up."

no way to sugarcoat disappointment of not ending decade-long playoff drought on heels of going 9-7 two years ago. Shoulder injury that affected QB Jameis Winston much of season was just part of problem. Running game sputtered Womens Vita Vea Jersey , Winston had difficulty throwing deep to DeSean Jackson after speedy receiver signed three-year, $33.5 million contract in free agency, and what coach Dirk Koetter believed was capable of being high-scoring offense struggled getting into end zone. Defensively, team took big step backward, too, finishing last with 23 sacks.THEY NEED: CB, RB, S, DE, DT, RG, RT.THEY DON'T NEED: QB www.tampabaybuccaneersteamonline.com , WR, TE.POSSIBLE FIRST PICK: DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama; S Derwin James, Florida State; G Quenton Nelson, Notre Dame; CB Denzel Ward, Ohio State, DE Marcus Davenport, UTSA; DT Vita Vea, Washington.OUTLOOK: With Winston entering fourth season, heat is on Koetter and general manager Jason Licht to not only escape NFC South cellar but make playoffs for first time since 2007. Top priority has been improving defensive and offensive lines. Licht addressed sagging pass rush by trading for former Giants sackmaster Jason Pierre-Paul and bolstered run defense by signing ex-Eagles Vinny Curry and Beau Allen in free agency. Addition of ex-Ravens center Ryan Jensen, whose arrival frees Ali Marpet to move to left guard, is big Tampa Bay Buccaneers T-Shirt , too. Still, there are plenty more holes to fill, especially in secondary where CB Brent Grimes turns 35 in July and CB Vernon Hargreaves III, first-round draft pick two years ago, lost starting job last season. What is Las Vegas thinking ahead of Sunday’s game? What is Las Vegas thinking about the Buccaneers and Saints game this weekend? I’m glad you asked. It’s hard to beat Vegas, really, it is. If it was easy, everyone would do it.In no way am I a professional gambler, and in no way am I telling you to put your money with what I predict. This is really just for fun and something we here at Bucs Nation thought the readers would enjoy after sports gambling was legalized. For those that don’t know sports gambling, I will quickly go over the three main bets that are often placed. Also, the lines could always change and the website you use, could be different from another one. Betting with the spread: Currently Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hats , the Buccaneers are +9 陆. This means that if you were to take the Buccaneers with the spread, they could lose by 9 points and you’d win. On the opposite side, if you took the Saints at -9 陆 , they’d have to win by 10 for you to win the best. Spread bets always have the same odds, which are -110. This means that you need to risk $110 to win $100. Money line bets: As of Friday evening, the Saints are -440, while the Buccaneers are +360. In money line bets, all the team you bet on has to do is win. In terms of what the -440 means for the Saints, you’d have to risk $440 dollars just to win $100. The Buccaneers at +360, means that a $100 dollar bet would win you $360 dollars. Over/Under bets: Again, no matter what way you pick, the odds in this case are -110. Vegas sports books currently have the over under at 49 陆 total points scored . Take the over and the two teams must combined to score 50 points in order for you to win. Obviously Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hoodie , the under is the opposite. So now we get to the part where I try and beat Vegas. I will keep a tracker all season of how I am doing. It probably won’t be good, but we’ll give it a go. There are many factors to take into consideration every week. Injuries, location of game, weather, etc鈥he public, is on the Saints. According to Oddshark.com 64% of the public is taking the Saints at -9 陆 and 56% of the public is on the over of total points scored. My picks: Buccaneers at +9.5 and the under 49 陆. Whenever a team with as much talent as Tampa has is given nearly 10 points, I think you’d be silly not to take that. Fitzpatrick will keep the game close and the Buccaneers will have a chance to win it at the end. The defense will also play much better than anticipated, which will result in a lower scoring game. We won’t see a shootout in the Superdome.

There was nothing different about my morning until my neighbor Al came outside.“Hey, Gil. It’s a super hot morning today,” he said. I acknowledged him Buccaneers Ryan Jensen Jersey , drenched in sweat, after about two hours into me mowing the lawn, trimming, and edging my property saying to myself, “Ya think?” But in mowing my yard I had noticed the strip of grass between our two homes was much lower than the rest of my yard. Then Al said, “You don’t mind that I mow the grass in between our houses do you? I figured since I’m already there mowing my section I might as well do yours as well.” I had already suspected he did it. It was cut shorter than I usually cut my yard. But since it was one less section I had to worry about — and a section you can’t really notice — I practically told him to continue doing what he’s doing, and thanked him for doing so.Al is a very nice person. He moved down to Tampa from Philadelphia a few years back. He’s a military veteran that proudly hangs an American flag in his screened in pool enclosure. We’ve never talked about his time overseas fighting for our freedom in detail, but we have talked football and how he is probably the only Philadelphia transplant that ditched his Eagles fandom for the Buccaneers. He always brings up how much he likes the team’s colors and how the young nucleus of players can potentially become “a force” for years to come. He also talks about how much he enjoys games at Raymond James Stadium much more than when he attended Eagles games at Lincoln Financial Field.Last Saturday was no different. We began talking about the 2018 season after he asked me, “So what do you think about Jameis Winston’s suspension? I feel it’s kind of bogus. If he really did something terrible, a deal would not have been made.” I proceeded to talk about what I have written on BucsNation.com. He didn’t know I managed the site, so the conversation now got deeper.“Think about it. If he truly groped the driver Buccaneers Beau Allen Jersey , the NFL would not have let Winston off that easily,” Al said. “I don’t see the point to that. But they should totally sign Colin Kapernick for those three games they won’t have Winston.”I now became curious. I never would have imagined a man who served and proudly displays his patriotism would support a person who kneels during the National Anthem. So I asked him why he thought they should.“They are acting like he is not better and more explosive than [Ryan Fitzpatrick] and more than half of the other backups in the league,” said Al. “[The NFL] is making deals with someone who allegedly did something inappropriately in a supposed sexual way but you can’t allow someone to sign with a team just because he kneels for an issue he is passionate about?”“You don’t think he is disrespecting the flag,” I asked.“No. People think he is but he is kneeling after a soldier told him to kneel in a display of respect to a cause he is trying to fight for. This whole situation has been overblown.”I was taken back a bit. I have usually seen the politically correct folks on social media, where everyone usually sides with the hottest takes and social movements just because it’s going viral. Al’s opinion on the Kaepernick situation was much different, and one I now obviously value much more. But we all know that the Buccaneers — nor any other team for that matter — will bring in the veteran quarterback despite previously helping San Francisco reach a Super Bowl. And while Al is correct that he is much better than at least half of backups out there, we all know Kaepernick may never step foot on an NFL field again. As for the Buccaneers, they will be fine with Fitzpatrick leading the charge for three games. They just need him to play smart football and manage the game. Hopefully an upgraded running game and an improved defensive front will help them get through that tough stretch of three games. But if not, we may be left wondering what if Kaepernick could have truly made a difference.

.The Jaguars Cleveland Browns T-Shirt , who reached the AFC Championship game last season, lost their fourth consecutive game, falling 24-18 to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Jacksonville dropped to 3-5 and failed to benefit from playing in England at their home away from home, Wembley Stadium. The upcoming bye week should provide everyone with an opportunity to do some soul searching — Marrone included."First, I'm going to look at myself," said Marrone, who was hired first as the interim coach following the firing of Gus Bradley in 2016, then as the full-time replacement the following offseason. "Obviously, I'm not getting the job done at the end of the day, so it starts with me. I've got to take a good look at it. (The bye) comes at a good time because I'll be able to see what I'm doing wrong because, obviously I'm doing something wrong."The Jaguars have been hit hard by injuries this season, including one to running back Leonard Fournette. And, inconsistent play from quarterback Blake Bortles — including a brief benching on Oct. 21 in a loss to the Houston Texans — has not helped.Jacksonville's biggest strength last season, though, was its defense, and the unit remains statistically strong, entering the defeat on Sunday ranked second in the league after allowing just 301.6 yards per game.Although Marrone said he believes he can turn the team around, he does need to find a way to get the players to buy in as they did last season."Really, it takes everybody Cleveland Browns Hats ," he said. "You can point everyone in the right direction, get everyone together, and if everyone is pulling in that direction and doing what they're supposed to do, doing their job, then yeah, you turn it around."But if you don't, then you sit back and make excuses and point fingers or get out of your role or things of that nature, then you can't, and that's my job — to pull everyone on the same thing. Obviously, I haven't been doing that well for the last four games."Bortles, asked about Marrone's introspection, said the losing streak is more on the players than the coaches."We expect to do the same things (as last season)," Bortles said. "We expect to win every time we step on the field and it hasn't happened. That's on us as players to continue to try to go out there and make plays. We've got to execute."Here's what else we learned in the Jaguars-Eagles game:A FRESH FACEEagles running back Josh Adams, an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame, had team and career highs of nine carries for 61 yards — 44 of which were gained after halftime. He had a 21-yard carry on second-and-6 early in the third quarter and a 17-yard carry early in the fourth quarter."My hope going into it was to take advantage of every opportunity that I got and try to bring it to them," Adams said. "You never know what can happen when you're out there, so try to take advantage of that time."Adams' most obvious blemish was an apparent fumble with 6:52 remaining, though officials ruled he was down before letting go of the ball after a video review."We just felt comfortable with Josh," Eagles coach Doug Pederson said. "(Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement) play a lot of special teams Cleveland Browns Hoodie , (so it was) keeping everybody fresh and rotated."HYDE AND SEEKCarlos Hyde made his debut for the Jaguars after a trade from the Cleveland Browns, and he finished with just 11 yards on six carries. T.J. Yeldon had season lows of two carries and seven yards, but he did catch seven passes for 83 yards. The Jaguars have yet to have anyone run for more than 58 yards in a game this season, and their leading rusher in the loss to the Eagles was Bortles, who gained 43 yards on eight carries."I think that starts a lot with how we do in practice and what we do (in terms of) getting some continuity there," Marrone said. "Right now, we're not doing anything well, so it's time to go back, hopefully get some guys back that have been injured and take it from there."Fournette, who ran for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns last season as a rookie, has played just twice, and not since Sept. 30, because of a hamstring injury."I thought the guys did a good job up front," Bortles said. "Obviously, we got down, so you're going to throw it a little more there ... but I thought what we were doing was fine. We've just got to make plays."TACKLE TROUBLE?Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson left the game after he injured his left knee on the opening possession and was replaced by Halapoulivaati Vaitai, who made 10 starts last season.Johnson was trying to make a tackle on Jaguars weakside linebacker Telvin Smith after he intercepted Carson Wentz and needed assistance to come off the field.Pederson said he had not spoken to the Eagles' medical staff about Johnson, who has been playing through a sprained ankle for the past month.Browns lock up No. 4 pick Denzel Ward The Cleveland Browns signed rookie cornerback Denzel Ward to a four-year slotted rookie contract Youth Customized Cleveland Browns Jerseys , general manager John Dorsey announced during a press conference on Wednesday.“We have come to an agreement with (DB) Denzel Ward and his representatives,” Dorsey said during his introductory remarks. “That will be executed here pretty soon. “Again, that will be moving forward. That is important, too, because those guys want to be here and they want to compete.”Ward was the final domino to fall, solidifying the Browns’ 2018 draft class one day before the team’s training camp kicks off in Berea. Ward then reported to camp on schedule with his teammates on Wednesday.Ward’s deal is for four years, with a fifth-year team option, and includes a $29 million total salary with another $19.2 million in a signing bonus, per AP’s Tom Withers.Having the young speedster defensive back in camp on time is a good feeling. Ward, the fourth-overall pick in April’s draft, figures to play heavily in Gregg Williams’ revamped secondary. The group lacked speed in recent years, so upon arrival Dorsey has made it a point to invest in faster players capable of hanging with receivers for longer periods, allowing Williams’ pass rush more time to get to the quarterback.Although young cornerbacks tend to lag behind in their rookie seasons, that’s not the rule, and shouldn’t be for a player drafted in the top five. The sooner Ward can get on the field playing meaningful snaps, the better. Cleveland’s secondary needs all the help it can get.

they are part of a group trying to buy the Columbus Crew to keep the MLS team in the city. The group http://www.thebrownsfootballauthentic.com/briean-boddy-calhoun-jersey-authentic , which also includes Columbus-area investors, said in a statement it is moving forward to acquire the team, which appeared headed to Austin, Texas, after this season. A new stadium in downtown Columbus is part of the plan, although no details were provided. The agreement also provides that Austin, whose city council had approved plans for a new, privately owned 20,000-seat stadium, will get an MLS expansion team no later than 2021."MLS is committed to keeping Crew SC in Columbus should we continue to make progress on these critical components and agree to key terms with the investor group," the league said in a statement.Anthony Precourt, the San Francisco-based investor who owns the Crew, had courted Austin for a potential move since last year, contending that the team was no longer financially viable in Columbus without bigger crowds and a new stadium. Precourt and Richard Suttle, the Austin lobbyist who helped negotiate terms of a stadium deal there, did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Friday. In Columbus Youth Genard Avery Jersey , the announcement touched off wild celebrations among Crew fans, who had been working to save the team since Precourt made his plans public last year."This is truly a historic moment," said David Miller, a spokesman for the Save the Crew group. "Over the last year, we've proven that a community of invested individuals has the power to make a big difference."Everyone involved acknowledged that there are many details still to be worked out. The league's statement said that success for the Crew in Columbus will require "strong local partners, long-term corporate support, a strong season ticket base and long-term plans for a stadium, practice facilities and associated sites."The MLS expressed its commitment to expand to Austin, saying "regardless of any scenario in Columbus, there is a clear path forward for (Precourt) to operate Austin FC as a Major League Soccer club."Austin is the largest metropolitan area in the country without a major league sports franchise."What a wonderful win/win/win solution!" Austin Mayor Steve Adler said. "The MLS commissioner and Anthony Precourt both reaffirm that Austin will have major league soccer opening the 2021 season in the new, McKalla stadium."Ohio and Columbus officials had sued Precourt and MLS to stop or slow down the move. Ohio law requires teams that use tax-supported facilities and accept state financial assistance to give six months' notice and give local investors a chance to buy the team. The law was enacted after the NFL's Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore in 1996.The Haslams, owners of the Browns since 2012, are still seeking on-the-field success in Cleveland. Their tenure in Cleveland has included numerous coaching and front-office changes as the Browns have been one of the league's worst teams for several years.Cleveland became just the second franchise to lose all 16 games last season, when the Haslams again swept out most of their management team but retained coach Hue Jackson despite his 1-31 record over two seasons. They brought in former Kansas City general manager John Dorsey to handle personnel, and the Browns are already showing major improvement this season.AP Sports Writers Jim Vertuno in Austin, Texas http://www.thebrownsfootballauthentic.com/joel-bitonio-jersey-authentic , and Tom Withers in Cleveland contributed to this report.Browns not content, looking to drive competition in camp BEREA — General manager John Dorsey and head coach Hue Jackson are not yet content with their offseason roster overhaul. Both veteran cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones and Bashaud Breeland are scheduled to visit the team on Friday, according to multiple reports.Breeland has met with the Oakland Raiders, Kansas City, and Indianapolis Colts in the last few days and is reportedly planning to make his decision following his visit to Berea. Assuming there is mutual interest following the workout, the Browns may be able to keep the talented cornerback from leaving Northeast Ohio at all.During his introductory training camp press conference on Wednesday, Dorsey said the team “love[s] competition” because “[i]t brings the best out in us.”“You have to talk about these things. I have talked about a lot of things,” the team’s newest general manager added when discussing the possibility of signing free agent receiver Dez Bryant. “There have been a whole list of players that we have talked about as a staff.”Jackson wouldn’t confirm which players were being brought in, but he did say the team is going to continue to look to improve any way it can, and that includes adding new faces to the mix as training camp progresses.“Obviously, there is an opportunity to continue to look at guys, so I am sure we will bring them in and take a peek at [Jones],” coach Jackson said. The coach also discussed the team’s overhauled secondary following Thursday’s opening training camp session.“There is competition. I said this yesterday, that is what is going to make out football team better,” Jackson said. “There is competition throughout our team. I do not know how it is going to shake out. “The players are going to decide that by how they play, but we have candidates out there that can play and that is the fun part http://www.thebrownsfootballauthentic.com/joe-schobert-jersey-authentic , so we will just let it all play out.”Before the draft the Browns traded DeShone Kizer and agreed to a pick-swap with the Green Bay Packers to acquire safety Damarious Randall. And after signing cornerbacks T.J. Carrie, E.J. Gaines and Terrance Mitchell, the Browns drafted Denzel Ward with the No. 4 pick, then selected safety Simeon Thomas in the sixth round. To say the group of signed contract players is growing crowded is an understatement. And that’s not including the group of undrafted players vying for roster spots. Every year one or two of those longshot-type guys makes a splash in training camp and makes it hard for teams to let them go.But that isn’t necessarily a problem. The Browns are compiling talented players at a crucially important position, a position group that truly hindered Gregg Williams’ ability to play the type of attacking defensive football he prefers.Whether the Browns end up adding Jones, Breeland, or no one, Jackson and Dorsey’s mantra about driving competition is an important one.No one, not one coach nor player should feel comfortable or content with their day-to-day achievements, especially on an 0-16 team. As much as the Browns want to ignore that embarrassing past, it has got to be nagging away at them beneath the surface and behind closed doors.Winning exactly zero games in an NFL season is unacceptable by any measure of success, so you know they are going to do whatever it takes to keep the ball rolling toward redemption in 2018.

Preview Cleveland Browns T-Shirt , Part 2 In Part 2 of our training camp preview on the Cleveland Browns’ wide receivers, we look at players with some experience but are most definitely on the bubble.Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports5. Ricardo Louis - Backup Wide ReceiverHeight: 6-2 | Weight: 215 lbs | Age: 24Experience: 3 years | College: AuburnThe hype train was heavy for Ricardo Louis heading into last year’s training camp after he had worked with Brandon Marshall in the offseason. With Josh Gordon set to be out for awhile and Kenny Britt being a massive disappointment, Louis got the best opportunity he could’ve asked for to showcase his talent. It wasn’t enough.Louis started 9 games last year and finished the season with 27 catches for 357 yards. Once Gordon returned from suspension, Louis was completely phased out of the offense for those final five weeks, collecting just 1 catch for 35 yards. Embarrassingly, Louis finished the 2017 season as the Browns’ leading wide receiver.Louis has good speed, but has not been able to overcome his propensity for dropping passes. He was among the league leaders in dropped passes last year, including this one:I don’t think Louis makes the final cut. He was one of the Browns’ special teams gunners last year, and that is his best chance at making the team. But the club added Jeff Janis from the Packers this offseason, and he has experience doing the same thing.Final Roster Odds: 25%Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports6. Rashard Higgins - Backup Slot ReceiverHeight: 6-1 | Weight: 198 lbs | Age: 23Experience: 3 years | College: Colorado StateAfter spending all of training camp working with Duke Johnson as the team’s slot receiver in 2017, and then playing him there in Week 1, the team abandon that strategy in Week 2. They re-signed Rashard Higgins, who was originally cut, and made him the slot receiver against the Ravens, where he blew up for 7 catches for 95 yards on 11 targets. Almost the entire rest of the season Cleveland Browns Hats , he would get 1-2 catches per week for about 15 yards. Then in Week 17, he blew up again with 3 catches for 68 yards and the first 2 touchdowns of his NFL career.I like Higgins. I think he can be an average slot receiver in the NFL, as he has shown good hands more times than not. Unfortunately, he faces a situation in which Jarvis Landry will have that role clamped down, and I just don’t think he is skilled enough to make an impact as an outside receiver. Higgins should stick around in camp in case something happens to Landry, but I don’t think he will make the final roster either. On the fun side, he did have an amusing “where yall at...?” comment back in March in response to an Instagram post by Jarvis Landry working with some of the Browns’ receivers.Final Roster Odds: 40%Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports7. Jeff Janis - Veteran Backup ReceiverHeight: 6-3 | Weight: 219 lbs | Age: 27Experience: 5 years | College: Saginaw Valley StateJeff Janis was a 7th round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2014. He has played in 51 games over the past four seasons, but only has 17 catches for 200 yards and 1 touchdown. The area he has made an impact has been on special teams, where he has 22 career tackles and has returned 23 kickoffs for 568 yards (24.7 yards per return).Janis is most known for his postseason heroics a couple of seasons ago, when he caught 7 catches for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns, including 2 bombs from Aaron Rodgers to create of the more amazing playoff Hail Mary’s you’ll see. There are many Packers fans who believe the team should have utilized Janis a lot more during his time in Green Bay. I think his stock will rise in the early parts of training camp.Final Roster Odds: 80%Photo by Rob Carr/Getty Images8. C.J. Board - Backup ReceiverHeight: 6-1 | Weight: 181 lbs | Age: 24Experience: 1 year | College: Tennessee-ChattanoogaC.J. Board was originally an undrafted free agent signed by the Baltimore Ravens during training camp in 2017. During the preseason for Baltimore, Board caught 2 passes for 56 yards. He also spent some time on the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad last year, and then Cleveland signed him to their practice squad heading into the final week of the regular season.Last year, Board said he knew he wasn’t going to be drafted, but teams’ interest in him turned up because he ran a 4.38 40-yard dash during his Pro Day. Baltimore reportedly liked his speed as an outside receiving option and also believed he could compete for a spot on special teams. I don’t expect him to stand out during training camp Cleveland Browns Hoodie , but he got included at the end of Part 2 of our preview because in Part 3, there are four rookie players to look at.Final Roster Odds: <5%Browns are Baker Mayfield’s team now, right? It has always been simply a matter of time before the Cleveland Browns elevated quarterback Baker Mayfield to the starter’s role.Heading into the regular season the team made the right call in letting veteran Tyrod Taylor open the season as the starter. No one wanted to see a repeat of the 2017 season when head coach Hue Jackson mismanaged the situation and Taylor was the safe choice for a team coming off an historic two-year run of futility. It was clear that Taylor would be the starter unless he was injured or became ineffective, and both of those criteria intersected on Thursday night against the New York Jets. Taylor was just four-of-14 for 19 yards while taking three sacks before leaving the game late in the second quarter with a concussion. Everyone knows what came next: Mayfield entered the game and energized a crowd that may have been poised to leave at halftime, and led the Browns to a win. With the Browns not playing again until September 30 against the Oakland Raiders, the coaching staff has a few extra days to ponder the matter, but it seems inevitable that the time has come to name Mayfield the starter, which should come on Monday, as Jackson told clevelandbrowns.com:There is a scenario where Jackson could decide to keep Taylor as the starter. The extra days off will help Taylor deal with his concussion, and having a rookie make his first start on the road could be seen as being “risky.”But that is a nightmare scenario that not even Jackson would be willing to risk. If Jackson were to stay with Taylor, he would have an extremely difficult time selling that to the players in the locker room. The bigger fear is that the Browns will name Mayfield the starter but then waffle on the decision if he has a bad game. Taylor gives the team a security blanket on the bench, but once Mayfield takes over, Taylor should not see the field again unless Mayfield gets hurt. It might not be fair for Taylor to lose his job in part because of an injury, but he was never the longterm answer at quarterback for the Browns. The time has come for the Browns to become Baker Mayfield’s team. It should be one heck of a ride.

Previewing Justin Houston Rookie Nick Mullens Jersey , While I praised Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and the Chiefs’ offense in my preview earlier this week, it’s time to pick apart the Kansas City defense. Bob Sutton’s crew is ranked 32nd in the NFL in yards allowed, 32nd in pass defense, 23rd in rushing defense, and Football Outsiders ranks them 32nd in efficiency. After playing Minnesota and Detroit’s stingy defense, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers’ offense should have a field day in Kansas City.A few seasons ago, the Chiefs were known as a defensive-minded team, with a complementary offense. Now, Kansas City features a potent offense, with a defense that just needs to buy a few stops every game. In order to get 49ers’ fans familiarized with this new-look Chiefs’ defense, here are some highlights (mostly lowlights Nick Mullens Jersey , actually) of Sutton’s group.Thank god, there’s no more Marcus PetersAfter the Chiefs decided to part ways with their most talented defensive back during the offseason, there was clearly no plan to replace him. Kansas City’s defensive backfield isn’t nearly as impressive, especially with safety Eric Berry out with an injury. Against the Steelers, the Chiefs’ defense was on the field for 82 plays. Their defense gave up over 400 yards and nearly gave the game away with their poor play. In this play below, Steelers’ wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster runs a simple route and gets separation from Chiefs’ corner Kendall Fuller and gain 19 yards on a simple pitch and catch. After losing Peters, Fuller and newly-signed corner Orlando Scandrick were brought in to replace him. Per Pro Football Focus, Fuller is ranked 65th among corners, with a PFF grade of 60.7 after two weeks of play. Scandrick and Nelson haven’t been much better either. In this next clip, the Chiefs’ pathetic secondary is back on display. Steelers’ tight end Jesse James is able to sneak behind the linebackers and under the safety and get wide open near the end zone. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is able to buy some time and make the easy throw for a 26-yard touchdown.49ers’ tight end George Kittle has been one of San Francisco’s leading receivers this season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has done a solid job of creating route combinations that free up Kittle. I fully expect the 49ers’ tight ends to take advantage of the Chiefs’ leaky back end and make big plays on Sunday.Another play, another defensive breakdown for the Chiefs. Smith-Schuster gets wide open coming across the formation, as the Chiefs’ linebacker doesn’t pick him up. Roethlisberger makes the easy throw for a gain of 21 yards. A lot of the Steelers’ big plays from this past weekend were more a result of the miscues on defense.Chris Jones, Justin Houston and the Chiefs’ lack of a pass rushThe Chiefs’ defensive line has always been known to generate a strong pass rush Quarterback Nick Mullens Jersey , from the days of Tamba Hali to Dee Ford to Justin Houston. However, this season the Chiefs just haven’t been able to create any pressure on the opposing quarterback. Through two weeks of the regular season, the Chiefs’ pressure rate is 19.1 percent, which ranks 28th in the NFL.While the 49ers and Garoppolo have had some sack-related struggles, it seems like this is the week to start fixing that problem. The 49ers’ signal caller should have plenty of time on Sunday to make the proper reads and accurate throws from the pocket. The most effective player on the Chiefs’ defense is defensive tackle Chris Jones. The second-year player has really made a leap this season, ranking 12th in run defense and 20th in pass rush, among qualifying defensive linemen. On one of the first plays for the Steelers’ offense this past week, running back James Conner took the hand off from Roethlisberger and was stuffed immediately for a three-yard loss. Even though the Chiefs’ run defense is leaky, Jones is one of their best interior run stoppers. Here’s an example of that leaky run defense I just mentioned. Conner takes this first-and-10 hand off for nine yards, breaking a few tackles along the way. Not only did it seem like the Chiefs were taking bad angles on this play, they were making lazy attempts at tackles, which led to the large gain.Across the board, Sutton’s defensive crew seems to be lacking. The back end of the defense has had multiple breakdowns Nick Mullens Jersey , leaving receivers wide open. Garoppolo and his receivers should be looking to take advantage of it on Sunday. The Chiefs’ pass rush hasn’t delivered either, only racking up two sacks all year. Jones, Ford and defensive lineman Allen Bailey will be stout in the run game, but as long as they don’t generate a rush on Sunday, the 49ers should be successful.I fully expect this to be an offensive shootout and the defense that’s able to find a few stops is likely going to push their team to victory. While the Chiefs’ offense is better than the 49ers’ offense, the 49ers’ defense is better than the Chiefs’. Will that be enough on Sunday to return with a victory?D.J. Reed has shot to claim 49ers starting free safety role The San Francisco 49ers have opened the door to a potential change at the free safety position. Head coach Kyle Shanahan would not make a firm commitment on the position, but he left open the possibility of a change.Adrian Colbert suffered a hip injury in Week 3 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He sat out Wednesday practice the next week, and then was listed as limited on Thursday and Friday. Limited usually means a player takes part in warmups and individual drills, but not team drills (although that is not always the case). This past Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, Colbert played exclusively on special teams, while D.J. Reed started at free safety. After the game, Shanahan offered this explanation as to why Reed started over Colbert.Shanahan said Colbert was the backup for Reed, and was physically ready to go. The coaching staff felt Colbert didn’t get enough reps this week to be fully prepared for the Chargers offense. On Monday Nick Mullens 49ers Jersey , Shanahan left the door open for a change at some point. He was complimentary of Reed, saying he did a good job and was improved from the previous week. He said he thinks Reed will, “continue to get better with more reps.” Naturally this begged the question that followed in which Shanahan was asked if he anticipated Reed holding onto the starting job.The 49ers return to practice on Wednesday, and we’ll get the first practice participation report later in the afternoon. If Colbert is listed as limited, that could mean a change is in the offing for at least another week. I would not expect Shanahan to announce a starter at this point, nor would defensive coordinator Robert Saleh likely say on Thursday. More than likely, barring something drastic, we’ll have to wait until Sunday for final word on who is starting at free safety.

Juice Check Nick Mullens 49ers Jersey , his versatile fullback Kyle Juszczyk in Week 1 against Minnesota, including the longest pass reception by either team (56 yards). So what did he do with his “offensive weapon” in Week 2 against the Detroit Lions? He changed everything. It’s no surprise that the coach used him more — 40 offensive plays (62.5%) vs. only 26 in Week 1. Juice mostly stayed on the bench in the red zone, as before, but otherwise he only sat for two stretches of several plays — likely for a breather, or a minor injury. But the formations changed dramatically. In Week 1, Juszczyk lined up in I-formation on 18 of his 28 snaps (including two later called back on penalties), with inline the next most common. Week 2 saw something very different. He was in I-formation on only 10 of those snaps (25%), and lined up inline only twice, less than he was out wide (5 snaps, motioning back in on 2 of them).Instead, Juice often lined up directly behind the left or right tackle (16 plays), and he motioned into that position on two others. On several plays he took a jab step in the direction of the side he was on, then made a little curlicue to come back and pass protect or throw a wham block on the backside of a run play. This change coincided with an emphasis on the run game. Juice ran 14 routes, often after a feint at a block, and caught three passes on four targets for 13 yards. (The fourth wasn’t really a target; Garoppolo, under pressure in his own end zone, grounded the ball legally at the fullback’s feet, which would have been a safety if he wasn’t there.)As usual, many of Juszczyk’s targets served mostly to pull defensive backs away from the play. With 2:05 left in the 3rd and his team pinned down at their 3, the fullback drew two defenders to cover his drag route to the right Nick Mullens Jersey , leaving TE Garrett Celek wide open over the middle for an 11-yard gain. There was one opportunity for a big reception, at 2:19 in the first quarter. On 2nd and 1, Shanahan called a pass play and Detroit was visibly confused, scrambling to set defensive positions as the play began. Juice, lined up behind the right tackle, curled out through the slot and faced only flat-footed LB Christian Jones, who had no backstop besides the distant single high safety. He quickly got a step on Jones but Garoppolo had already settled on a wide open Alfred Morris for a 16-yard gain on the left sideline. It would have taken some anticipation and a full-field read, but Juszczyk was open for a gain of 40 or more yards.Mostly, though, Juice was a great blocker, picking up more pass protection (and doing well at it), plus taking on linebackers and safeties at the second level with regularity. He played a key role on all three of Matt Breida’s big runs, starting with the 28-yard gain on the 49ers first play from scrimmage, where he took out CB Teez Tabor five yards downfield. With 1:47 in the 3rd, Juszczyk (in box below) blocked LB Christian Jones to the ground as Breida (circled) broke through for 20. And on the very next play, he broke Breida for his 66 yard TD by absolutely stoning Safety Glover Quin. (Juice is #44, running ahead and to the right of the Cheetah.) There seems to be a special chemistry between Breida and Juszczyk; on all three plays, Juice makes the key block in the thickest part of the defensive line, and Breida hits the hole right behind him at the perfect moment.Shanahan has a lot of interesting ideas on how to use a versatile fullback. But I love the fact that he’s not afraid to just have him sledgehammer defenders and open up big runs.Survivor, straight up picks for Week 6 NFL action We are entering the sixth week of the season, and we are starting to see some separation at the top of the standings. The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs are looking like the favorites in each conference Quarterback Nick Mullens Jersey , while our 49ers are a dumpster fire for the time being. San Francisco heads to Green Bay to close out the week on Monday Night Football, but the week gets going with an NFC East affair on Thursday Night Football with the New York Giants hosting the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s time once again for our pick ‘em and Survivor pool contest options. We have the weekly prediction contest this season, and you can make those picks here. We also have a traditional “Pick ‘Em” contest. If you still want to join, the group name is Niners Nation, the group ID is 45734, and the password is go49ers. You’re pretty far behind, but feel free to join.I took my first strike in my double-elimination Survivor pool. I got greedy, and like Icarus I flew too close to the sun in choosing the 49ers to beat the Cardinals. I pondered the Carolina Panthers, but thought I was the smart one. Welp. I’m still alive, but it’s a disappointing strike. This week, I think I am going to play it relatively safe and take the Minnesota Vikings over the Arizona Cardinals. If I lose to the Cardinals in back-to-back weeks, it clearly just was not meant to be. I would take the Green Bay Packers over the 49ers, but I used the Packers two weeks ago when they thumped the Buffalo Bills.Tonight, Week 6 opens with the Giants hosting the Eagles. This is a tough call. The Giants stink, but the Eagles are proven to not be particularly good this season. The Eagles are a field goal favorite, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark. Are the Giants emotionally spent after that last second loss to Carolina? I’m thinking I’ll just take the points and be done with it. This is a tough matchup, so Giants +3 it is!Here are the rest of my straight-up picks. I was 11-4 last week, bringing my season record to 52-24-2. against the Vikings in Minnesota was always going to be a tough task for the 49ers. The Vikings were one game away from the Super Bowl last year and upgraded their quarterback with the signing of Kirk Cousins in the offseason. But that still doesn’t help with the 49ers’ frustration in their loss on Sunday. They were in the game and had opportunities to steal a victory. Mistakes and red zone failures put winning out of reach. The red zone issues were glaring on Sunday. They were in the red zone 4 times against the Viking’s elite defense. In those opportunities Rookie Nick Mullens Jersey , they scored one touchdown and fumbled one at the goal line. It’s always going to be hard to score touchdowns against great defenses like Minnesota’s, so when the opportunity arises, the team has to punch them in. The Alfred Morris fumble at the 1 yard line hurt a lot because it would have tied the game at 10 a piece. Instead, they never got closer than 11 points. On a series in the 3rd quarter, Jimmy Garoppolo hit a jumping Pierre Garcon, but Pierre could not secure the touchdown. That led the team to a field goal. On their last red zone chance, Jimmy sailed a pass over George Kittle from 4 yards. That led to their last points of the game.In their home opener this coming Sunday, the 49ers face the Detroit Lions, who had an awful game on Monday night. The Lions had poor showings on both sides of the ball. Matt Stafford had 4 interceptions against the Jets and the Jets offense hung 41 points on the terrible Lions defense. That’s a much easier task than facing the Vikings defense so the 49ers should have an opportunity to fix their red zone offense on Sunday. 49ers linksNot an ideal way to start the season | Down 2 guards potentially (Alper)That red zone offense needs to get fixed immediately | Fixing the offense (Inman)Other than the dropped pass, he had a good game | Good start to Kittle’s season (Williams)Only allowed one reception | Richard Sherman’s 1st game went well (Wagoner)Have to fix the red zone offense (Maiocco)Dante’s 1st TD (Martin)Defense played well. It was one of three TD passes he threw in a 38-27 victory over the 49ers on Sunday — and easily the most impressive ."That," Chiefs coach Andy Reid acknowledged with a smile, "was a good one."Mahomes finished with 314 yards passing in his first regular-season start at Arrowhead Stadium, and his touchdown throws to Conley, Demetrius Harris and Sammy Watkins gave him 13 this season without an interception. That total broke the NFL record of 12 for the first three weeks of a season, set by Peyton Manning during the 2013 campaign.More importantly, all those touchdown tosses have the Chiefs 3-0. They are the third team to score at least 38 points in each of the first three games, joining 2007 New England and the 1967 Baltimore Colts."We've got a bunch of weapons Quarterback Nick Mullens Jersey ," said Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt, who added his first two touchdown runs this season, "and Pat is just a competitor. I knew that from the day we met, when we got drafted together. We said one day we were going to take over the Chiefs Kingdom."The Chiefs have clearly found their long-term answer at quarterback. The 49ers? They have a whole lot of questions now.Jimmy Garoppolo left late in the fourth quarter after his left knee buckled during a scramble to the sideline. He was crushed on his throwing shoulder by the Chiefs' Steven Nelson, but the damage was already done, and the 49ers' franchise quarterback was carted off to the locker room."We fear an ACL," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. "We'll find out for sure tomorrow."The 49ers (1-2) trailed 35-7 late in the first half before rallying behind Garoppolo, who threw for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Breida added 90 yards rushing and Alfred Morris scored on the ground as San Francisco clawed to within 35-24 late in the third quarter. It was still 38-24 when the 49ers produced a grinding, 17-play drive that wiped out more than half the fourth quarter. But it ended in a strange sequence that began with Garoppolo taking the shot from Nelson along the sideline, rather than stepping out of bounds and avoiding the hit."I think that was his fault Nick Mullens Jersey ," said Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston, who was trailing the play. "I pray he's not hurt, it's nothing serious, but as a quarterback you should step out of bounds. It's only an inch. An inch wouldn't have made a difference. You got the yardage. You need to be smart."C.J. Beathard came in on third-and-goal and threw what appeared to be a touchdown pass to George Kittle, but it was wiped out by offensive pass interference with 5:17 left in the game.Rather than go for it on fourth down at the Kansas City 25, Shanahan elected to kick a field goal — keeping it a two-possession game. Then the 49ers kicked it deep rather than try an onside kick, and the Chiefs picked up a first down by penalty before Hunt churned for two more and put the game away."That's our time in the game," Reid said. "You take a lot of pride in it. They're going backward and we're going forward and it's all good."MORE ON GAROPPOLOShanahan acknowledged a quarterback move is likely, though Beathard is line to start next week in Los Angeles. The 49ers' only other QB is Nick Mullins, a member of the practice squad. "I just talked to (Garoppolo) in the training room Nick Mullens 49ers Jersey ," Beathard said. "I told him I'll be praying for him and I love him and he just told me to lead these guys."FOSTER'S FRUSTRATION49ers LB Reuben Foster had a rough return from a two-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct and substance abuse policy. Foster was hit with a personal foul for hitting Mahomes as the QB was sliding in the first half, Kelce beat him in pass defense, and the young linebacker left early in the fourth quarter when he was shaken up on a tackle.INJURIES49ers: The defensive backfield was in tatters by the fourth quarter. CB Richard Sherman left with a calf injury, FS Adrian Colbert hurt his ankle and backup CB Tarvarius Moore left with a wrist injury. SS Jaquiski Taylor was already inactive with a shoulder injury.Chiefs: LB Dee Ford left with a groin injury in the fourth quarter. He will have an MRI exam Monday ...
