When Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made it to the Hall of Fame last year Authentic Sam Darnold Jersey , the celebration included a surprisingly self-aware smattering of references to the nutty things he has said over the years.

The best? In 2012, Jones explained at training camp that “I’ve been here when it was gloryhole days, and I’ve been here when it wasn’t. And so having said that, I want me some gloryhole.”

(The best actually got better; Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple tried to save Jones by pointing out that “gloryhole is a commonly used expression in the oil and gas exploration business,” and Jones interrupted by saying, “That’s news to me.”)

As Jones continues his quest for the kind of gloryhole to which he was referring (I think), he has offered up another all-time quote. This one happened not publicly but within the confines of his party bus, during a visit withBig Game author Mark Leibovich Youth Dorian O'Daniel Jersey , whose bloodstream eventually was polluted with excessive amounts of Johnnie Walker Blue but whose recording device remained sober as a league-appointed arbitrator.

In the same conversation during which Jones applied specificity to the “shocking” price he’d pay for a Super Bowl win ($250 million, which further underscores the wisdom of a hard salary cap), Jones talked about his love of business, of selling. He once sold shoes in his youth. And he really, really liked the job.

Leibovich emerged from his Walker Blue Persuasion long enough to notice that Jones had mentioned “spending the afternoon masturbating over selling shoes.” Leibovich sought clarification.

“I’ve sold shoes, and I’ve masturbated in my shoes,” Jones said.

Jones went on to explain that sales isn’t about the product but about having fun while selling the product. (Apparently, a whole lot of fun.)

And Dalrymple Matt Calvert Jersey , who was present for the exchange, did not even try to explain that “masturbated in my shoes” is a commonly used expression in the oil and gas exploration business.

Former NFL tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. was jailed without bail Friday after pleading not guilty to multiple counts of kidnapping, rape and other charges.

The 34-year-old Winslow was ordered to return to San Diego County Superior Court on June 25 for a preliminary hearing.

If convicted, Winslow could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.

His attorney, Brian Watkins, did not immediately respond to a message left at his office.

Prosecutors say Winslow began a crime spree last March that included rapes, kidnappings, indecent exposure and burglary and continued until just before his arrest this week.

According to charging documents Dallas Goedert Color Rush Jersey , he allegedly kidnapped and raped a 54-year-old woman on March 13 and then a 59-year-old woman on May 13.

On May 24, prosecutors say, he exposed himself in a public place, the location of which wasn't disclosed.

The burglary charges involved alleged break-ins at the home of a 71-year-old woman on June 1 and an 86-year-old woman on June 7.

Winslow was originally arrested June 7 in the burglary case. After posting bail he was arrested again Thursday on the additional charges. On Friday, Superior Court Judge Robert Dahlquist ordered him held without bail.

The son of Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow, the younger Winslow spent 10 seasons in the NFL from 2004-13 with Cleveland, Tampa Bay, New England and the New York Jets. The former University of Miami star had 469 catches for 5 Authentic Shea Weber Jersey ,236 yards and 25 touchdowns in 105 games.

Once NFL's highest-paid tight end, he was suspended in 2013 with the Jets for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. In November 2013, he was arrested after a woman told police she saw him masturbating in a parked car outside of a New Jersey department store. Winslow was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana, and the charge was dropped after he completed court-ordered terms.

Drafted No. 6 overall by Cleveland, he broke his right leg in his rookie season, then sustained a serious right knee injury in a motorcycle accident that offseason.

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan is eyeing a stadium deal on NFL draft day: Buying Wembley.

The English Football Association has received an offer from Khan of about 600 million pounds ($840 million) for the national soccer stadium Andre Holmes Jersey , which would continue to host England games and major cup finals after a sale.

Wembley has staged regular-season NFL games since 2007 and Khan's Florida-based franchise started playing at the 90,000-capacity stadium in 2013, the year Khan bought London soccer club Fulham.

He told The Associated Press he expects to own Wembley within eight to 12 weeks, increasing the prospect of an NFL franchise in London.

"That's possible in the long, long term," Khan said. "Right now, it's about having the certainty we can have three or four games there and then seeing how the market receives it and building on it.

"(Owning Wembley) gives certainty of an NFL presence in London. The first thing you want with certainty is you want a venue. And this gives us a stadium solution for us or anyone else."

The Jaguars have a deal through 2020 to play games in London, but Wembley is facing an increasing threat for NFL games from another stadium in north London. NFL games will also be played this year at the new home of Premier League club Tottenham, which is under construction.

The 60,000-plus capacity stadium was designed with NFL-sized changing rooms and to ensure the grass soccer pitch can be retracted and kept under lights below the stands when the artificial surface is required for NFL.

But Khan envisages after the Tottenham deal expires in a decade that only Wembley could be staging NFL games in London.

Wembley, which first opened in 1923, was rebuilt at a cost of 800 million pounds before reopening in 2007. For most of its existence it has not been owned by the FA.

Selling off Wembley would give the FA up to 500 million pounds to invest in soccer development, which could increase the chances of England winning its first World Cup title since 1966. The governing body would retain the rights to hospitality packages for games, which are valued at 300 million pounds.

"For the FA," Khan said, "it would mean Wembley Stadium returning to private ownership Theo Riddick Jersey , permitting the FA to direct its full attention to its mandate to develop talent and serve the game with the vast resources it would realize from the sale."

An FA delegation, including England coach Gareth Southgate, attended the Super Bowl in Minneapolis in February.

"I've enjoyed a rewarding relationship with The Football Association for years and my more recent exchanges and time spent with (chief executive) Martin Glenn have served to further strengthen a connection with the FA that made it natural and ultimately possible for both parties to consider this transaction," Khan said.

"Should we be fortunate to close on the purchase, it's important to stress that the spirit and essence of Wembley would be unchanged. Wembley is a special place, beloved in London and known throughout the world."

As the NFL seeks remedies for injuries caused by helmets by spending millions of dollars and hour upon hour on research into safer equipment, the same search goes on at other levels of football.

VICIS, which has the top-rated helmets for the pros, according to an NFL survey, is getting into the youth market. Riddell, which has a tie-in with USA Football, the governing body of the sport, is also devoting much time and funding to youngsters playing the game.

Chris Golic, whose husband Mike played eight seasons in the NFL and whose sons played through college, has been working with VICIS to educate parents on the strides being made in player protection. Many mothers and fathers have become familiar with the Heads Up Football program USA Football created to get the head out of the game when tackling, as well as with the organization's requirements to approve coaches.

"The next step was looking at equipment Derick Brassard Penguins Jersey ," says Golic, who serves on the Pop Warner board, and was the NFL's consultant on youth football as well as a member of the Heads Up Football advisory committee. "So much had not changed in so long, it was the next piece to the puzzle.

"I heard how VICIS was highly rated (for the NFL) and how they were manufacturing their helmets and a youth helmet, and I was excited. For so long, parents complained there was just an adult helmet put on a kid, or whatever was around. I can speak for VICIS, who changed their approach and looked at how a helmet is supposed to fit and what is needed to make it safest.

"I talk to moms all the time and the most important thing is making sure equipment fits properly ... helmet, shoulder pads. We want to keep the conversation going so they see we are not standing still."

Equipment manufacturers are doing anything but standing still, as both the VICIS ZERO1 YOUTH, which will become available next year, and the Riddell InSite Training Tool show.

Traditional youth football helmets are adult helmets with lightweight shells. But ZERO1 YOUTH is engineered specifically for young players and the impacts they typically encounter on the field 鈥?impact velocities and locations. The exterior shell is redesigned for younger players' anatomies, while the liner provides a custom fit for a wide range of youth head shapes and sizes.

"At its heart, VICIS is an engineering company born to innovate," says Dave Marver, the company's co-founder and CEO. "Our focus is sports protective equipment Youth James Daniels Jersey , particularly helmets. This is just our second year on the field and we're pleased to have broadened our portfolio to include the ZERO1 YOUTH. One of our founders is a pediatric neurosurgeon and, though we started with NFL players, our passion has always been to protect kids. We will be introducing new products in football and several other categories in the next year."

One issue with the helmets can be cost. Benefiting from increased volumes, this season VICIS reduced the price of its ZERO1 helmet for pros, colleges and high schools, called varsity, to $950. NCAA and high school programs that purchased the ZERO1 in volume qualified for pricing under $800 per helmet. VICIS expects the ZERO1 YOUTH to cost under $500, about half the price of its varsity helmet.

Riddell's InSite Training Tool, which the company's Thad Ide calls "a game changer" in helmet technology, provides such specific data that it is applicable at the youth, high school, college and pro levels. Basically, it tells observers if an out of the ordinary impact happens on the field.

Such feedback is priceless for player safety.

"We invested in this back in 2004 and we've been monitoring its use at different levels of play," says Ide, Riddell's senior vice president of research and product development. "That data is used to inform the InSite technology, and we launched into the marketplace in 2014 as an alerting and monitoring device ... another set of eyes. This year we are launching the training tool with a much broader sweep of capabilities to help coaches understand when players are seeing out of the ordinary impact exposures that could be potentially very injurious http://www.seahawksauthorizedshops.com/authentic-shaquem-griffin-jersey , such as hits with the crown of a helmet.

"This is kind of the step function in the awareness, and a way of bringing data analytics to football in a way it has not been there before. During any conversations with coaches or anyone associated with football programs, and as we explained all the capabilities, it's been a very eye-opening conversation, and we can sense the engagement and excitement. This is the front of something really exciting here."

Chris Golic believes so. She hears the concerns from parents about such a collision-based sport, hears them cite numbers 鈥?some accurate, others way off 鈥?about drops in registration for youth players.

Then she looks at her family's experiences in football.

"Regardless if the numbers are up or down, I want parents to self-evaluate and look at the sport and say, 'Why should my kid be playing? I saw differences the sport can make in work ethic, dedication and perseverance, teamwork, getting along with others.

"Personally I am worried if (parents) want to just dismiss it and say their kids shouldn't play. The solution is not to not play, it is to find ways to make it safe to play.

"Look beyond the headlines a bit and make decisions based on fact and not fear."

NFL players demonstrated during the national anthem at several preseason games Thursday night Martin Frk Jersey , protests that again drew a rebuke from President Donald Trump.

Writing on Twitter from his New Jersey golf resort, Trump said Friday players "make a fortune doing what they love," and those who refuse to stand "proudly" for the anthem should be suspended without pay.

He contended "most of them are unable to define" what they're demonstrating against." Instead, he said, players should "Be happy, be cool!"

In Philadelphia, Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins and cornerback De'Vante Bausby raised their fists during the anthem, and defensive end Chris Long placed his arm around Jenkins' shoulder. Jenkins had stopped his demonstration last December.

Defensive end Michael Bennett walked out of the tunnel during the anthem and walked toward the bench while it played. It appeared all the Steelers stood.

"Everybody is waiting for what the league is going to do," Jenkins said. "We won't let it stop what we stand for. I was very encouraged last year with the direction and that obviously took a different turn.

"I think it's important to utilize the platform as we can because for whatever reason, we have framed this demonstration in a negative light, and often players have to defend why we feel the need to fight for everyday Americans, and in actuality we're doing the right thing."

At Miami, Dolphins receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson and defensive end Robert Quinn protested during the anthem. Stills and Wilson kneeled behind teammates lined up standing along the sideline. Quinn stood and raised his right fist. There were no apparent protests by the Buccaneers.

"As a black man in this world, I've got an obligation to raise awareness," Quinn said. "If no one wants to live in unity, that's why we're in the situation we're in."

Stills kneeled during the anthem during the 2016-17 seasons and has been vocal discussing social injustice issues that inspired the protest movement by NFL players.

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, a leader of the movement, tweeted support for Stills and Wilson.

"My brother @kstills continued his protest of systemic oppression tonight by taking a knee Johnny Gaudreau Jersey Kids ," the tweet said. "Albert Wilson joined him in protest. Stay strong brothers!"

And in Seattle, three Seahawks players ran into the team's locker room prior to the playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Defensive linemen Branden Jackson and Quinton Jefferson, and offensive lineman Duane Brown left the field following team introductions and before the start of the anthem. They returned to the sideline immediately after it concluded. All three were among a group of Seattle players that sat during the anthem last season.

Brown and Jefferson said they intend to continue the action all season. Seattle coach Pete Carroll said the team discussed the topic and decided to support individual decisions. Brown said he didn't believe there had been much progress made from the demonstrations of last season.

"Everyone was clear on my decision and understands and supports it," Brown said. "We all have different realities in this country and they understand my perspective. We're all on good terms."

In Jacksonville, four Jaguars remained in the locker room during the national anthem, and team officials said it would be up to the players to explain why they weren't on the field. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, linebacker Telvin Smith, and running backs Leonard Fournette and T.J. Yeldon joined teammates on the sideline after the anthem.

"As a man, I got certain beliefs," said Smith, who wore "Salute the Service" cleats. "You know what I mean? This is not going to become a distraction, and Jacksonville's not going to become a distraction for this team. I got beliefs. I did what I did. I don't know if it's going to be every week, can't answer if it's going to be every week.

"But as a man I've got to stand for something. I love my team, I'm dedicated to my teammates, and that's what we're talking about. I did what I did. It was love. I hope people see it and respect it. I respect views."

At Baltimore, both teams stood, but while most of the Ravens lined up shoulder to shoulder on the sideline, second-year linebacker Tim Williams stood alone in front of the bench with his back toward the field.

All players on each team at New England appeared to stand for the anthem Womens Tom Pyatt Jersey , some bowing their heads and others placing their hands on their hearts. The Patriots observed a moment of silence beforehand for Weymouth, Massachusetts, police officer Michael Chesna, who was killed last month in the line of duty.

The league and the players' union have yet to announce a policy for this season regarding demonstrations during the anthem after the league initially ordered everyone to stand on the sideline when the anthem is played, or remain in the locker room.

"The NFL has been engaged in constructive discussions with the NFL Players Association regarding the anthem and issues of equality and social justice that are of concern to many Americans," league spokesman Brian McCarthy said in an email.

"While those discussions continue, the NFL has agreed to delay implementing or enforcing any club work rules that could result in players being disciplined for their conduct during the performance of the anthem.

"Meanwhile, there has been no change in the NFL's policy regarding the national anthem. The anthem will continue to be played before every game, and all player and non-player personnel on the field at that time are expected to stand during the presentation of the flag and performance of the anthem. Personnel who do not wish to do so can choose to remain in the locker room.

"We remain committed to working with the players to identify solutions and to continue making progress on important social issues affecting our communities."

LATROBE, Pa. (AP) — Tyler Matakevich wants to prove he can handle the job. Jon Bostic just wants to be on the field.

Matakevich and Bostic are competing for Pittsburgh’s opening at inside linebacker after the Steelers did not use a draft pick on the position. The winner gets to start alongside veteran Vince Williams and an opportunity to help fill the massive void left by Ryan Shazier, who is out for the season while recovering from spinal stabilization surgery.

“What happened to Ryan was terrible,” Matakevich said. “But that was an opportunity that not too many guys get, to step in and really step up.”

The Steelers signed Bostic to a two-year contract in March to provide veteran depth at inside linebacker after Shazier got hurt last December at Cincinnati.

“I told (coach Mike Tomlin) that when I came in, I’m coming in to compete,” Bostic said. “I would like to not come off the field and going forward, I’m going to do whatever I can to make sure that happens.”

The Steelers gave Matakevich and Bostic a vote of confidence when they opted not to select an inside linebacker in April’s draft.

“Whether they (selected a linebacker or not), I would have the same mentality,” Matakevich said. “Seeing how everything unfolded Tobias Rieder Jersey , it definitely gives you a little boost knowing that they believe in you, too.”

Matakevich, a 2016 seventh-round pick, has played in 31 games with the Steelers. While he hasn’t made any starts on defense, his impact has been felt on special teams, particularly last season.

Matakevich blocked two punts, including one that was recovered for a touchdown. He also broke up a pass on a fake punt by Minnesota.

Matakevich took the majority of the first-team snaps during spring workouts, but he and Bostic have shared the starting role during training camp practices.

The well-traveled Bostic is currently on his fifth team, having also played with Chicago, New England, Detroit and Indianapolis. He said it doesn’t matter where he practices, as long as he’s on the field.

“To be honest, it’s important to get the reps,” said Bostic, who was Chicago’s second-round pick in 2013. “Regardless of whatever (group) you’re running on the field, I still have to earn my job.”

Bostic spent 2017 in Indianapolis, finishing with 97 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery in 14 games before a knee injury ended his season.

Matakevich battled a shoulder injury last season Womens Jordan Howard Jersey , initially getting hurt against Kansas City in October. He left a December game against Cincinnati and was inactive the next week against Baltimore before finishing out the season and undergoing shoulder surgery following the Steelers’ playoff loss to Jacksonville.

“It definitely held me back, playing pretty much the whole year with one arm,” Matakevich said. “It’s hard enough with two, but it’s definitely a little harder with one.”

Now, there isn’t anything holding Matakevich back. The same goes for Bostic.

“When we’re out there, we’re competing against each other, but we’re making the defense better,” Bostic said. “When the defense is better, the team is better, and at the end of the day, we just have to make sure we get better on our side of the ball.”

Panthers coach Bob Boughner went from hopeful to desolate to elated in a matter of seconds.

Filip Forsberg’s apparent tying goal with 0.6 seconds left was disallowed due to goalie interference Filip Forsberg Jersey , giving Florida a 2-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday night.

”It was a crazy finish,” Boughner said. ”Ten seconds to go and you’re thinking it’s over, then you see the clock tick down and the puck go in.”

Viktor Arvidsson was posted in front of Florida goalie Roberto Luongo on the play, and his stick made contact with Luongo as he tried to shove in a rebound. The puck slid under Luongo in the crease, and Forsberg swooped in for an easy score. It was called a goal on the ice, but replay officials ruled that Arvidsson had interfered with Luongo, saying his stick ”caused Luongo to spin and cause the covered puck to come loose.”

”Obviously, at first Authentic Eli Manning Jersey , I wasn’t quite sure what happened, but once I saw the replay, the puck was between my legs and the guys just basically pitchforked me,” Luongo said. ”And as he spun me around, the puck came loose. I was happy that they made the right call there because it was going to be a little bit upsetting if that would have been a goal.”

The Predators didn’t agree.

”We scored a goal to tie the game with less than a second left, and then they take it away from us,” Forsberg said. ”This one was clearly a goal. The puck is never covered, the goalie had no clue where it is Patric Hornqvist Jersey , and it ends up on my tape and it’s in.”

Luongo tied a season high with 45 saves. Colton Sceviour scored the winning goal and Jonathan Huberdeau also scored for Florida. Luongo started his second game in two nights and had to take fluids intravenously after Monday’s 3-2 win over Carolina.

”After last night’s game, I made sure that I did whatever was necessary to get the recovery needed within 24 hours to play again. I was happy the way I felt,” Luongo said.

Roman Josi scored for NHL-leading Nashville, and Pekka Rinne made 31 saves. The Predators would have clinched the Western Conference with a win.

”We played a good game,” coach Peter Laviolette said. ”Their goalie played really well. There’s a lot at stake for them as well. Our guys played hard, we just couldn’t hit the back of the net.”

The Panthers are four points behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the second wild card in the Eastern Conference and five behind the New Jersey Devils with a game in hand.

”It was a great to finish to a hard-fought game by both teams,” Boughner said. ”A tough test in back-to-back against the best team in the league. (Luongo) made some amazing saves when they had their pushes. He was the difference tonight.”

Sceviour stretched the Panthers lead to 2-0 at 10:33 of the third. Evgenii Dadonov flipped the puck from behind the net back to Sceviour on the right side, who poked it past Rinne.

”I was the beneficiary there Blake Bortles Jersey Black ,” Sceviour said. ”(Dadonov) did a lot of the work there and made a heck of a pass. I just had to put it in pretty much an open net.”

The Predators closed to 2-1 on Josi’s goal with 3:52 left in the third. Josi fired a shot from in front that got past Luongo.

Huberdeau’s deflection gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead with 1:30 left in the first. Jamie McGinn shot from the right side, and the puck bounced off Huberdeau and got past Rinne.

Luongo made a save at 11:27 of the second and went down on the ice when the puck hit his rib area but remained in the game.

UPSET CELEBS

A few high-profile hockey fans joined the Smashville faithful in blasting the overturned goal on social media.

”Dear (at)nhl I love you and I always will but (at)PredsNHL were robbed tonight,” wrote actor Kiefer Sutherland.

”I am seriously livid. (at)NHL , fix this,” said Carrie Underwood , wife of predators forward Mike Fisher.

”Hey (at)NHL , those are the kind of calls that cause fans to lose faith in the head office,” said golfer Brandt Snedeker.

NOTES: Luongo Wayne Gretzky Jersey , who turns 39 on April 4, is one game away from becoming the third goaltender in NHL history to play 1,000 games. … Arvidsson returned after missing the last game with a lower-body injury.

The Patriots won’t bring defensive back Cyrus Jones back for a third season with the team.

Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports that Jones is among the players who will be cut as the roster drops to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Jones was a second-round pick in 2016 and appeared in 10 games during his rookie year as both a defensive player and kick returner. He missed all of last season after a knee injury.

There’s no final word on who earned spots in New England, but Jones’ departure could bode well for J.C. Jackson, Keion Crossen and/or Jason McCourty.

According to multiple reports, the Patriots are also parting ways with 2016 third-round pick Vincent Valentine. The defensive tackle also landed on injured reserve with a knee injury last year. He had 19 tackles and a sack in 13 games as a rookie.

AJ McCarron found out he was traded Ryan Miller Jersey , quickly packed a bag, said goodbye to his family and headed out to Oakland to join the Raiders.

As crazy as those first few hours were following McCarron's trade from the Buffalo Bills to Oakland, the whirlwind hasn't slowed down a bit since McCarron joined his new team.

He had new teammates and coaches to meet and an entire offense to learn in just over a week now that he's Derek Carr's only backup and could be thrust into action Monday night when Oakland opens its season against the Los Angeles Rams.

"It's not the easiest thing in the world. I'm trying my hardest," McCarron said. "I've been coming in really early, spending a lot of time staying late. God forbid something happens, hopefully I can go out there and handle it pretty well."

The Raiders dealt a 2019 fifth-round pick to the Bills last Saturday for McCarron and then immediately cut E.J. Manuel and Connor Cook, who had been competing for the backup job.

Oakland had been anticipating McCarron might be available with Buffalo having drafted Josh Allen in the first round and also having Nathan Peterman in place.

"We kind of had our eye on him Womens Pavel Buchnevich Jersey ," offensive coordinator Greg Olson said. "Had been evaluating him through the preseason with the thought that maybe there might be an opportunity for some of those quarterbacks or one of those quarterbacks on that team to become available. We had some intel on AJ from other coaches that had worked with him. But we liked the player. We're happy to get him. He's been good since he's been here. He's been a quick study in terms of picking up the offense. He's been in the building from dawn to dusk every day. Just a real pleasure to have him right now."

McCarron has been working extensively with quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan to learn a complex offense installed by coach Jon Gruden.

McCarron said it's completely different than what he had been running in Buffalo all offseason but he is familiar with many of the West Coast concepts. The main job this week is learning the language and the formations that go with the offense.

"I do a pretty good job of managing all that," McCarron said. "When it comes to learning football I think I'm pretty smart. You can only play so many defenses. It's just being real familiar and knowing the ins and outs of the offense. God forbid I get in there, it's not going to be perfect. But I know how to battle and keep trying."

McCarron had hoped to be the starter in Buffalo after spending his first four seasons as the backup to Andy Dalton in Cincinnati. McCarron started just three regular-season games and one playoff contest for the Bengals but got a two-year contract from the Bills that included a $4 million signing bonus.

But that never materialized as the Bills went with Peterman as the starter until Allen is ready to take over, and McCarron now needs to sell the house he bought in Buffalo.

"It's a business. There's a lot of things that go on behind the scenes. It's part of it," he said. "I enjoyed my time there, even though it was for a cup of coffee and maybe a doughnut. The people there are great, the fans are really awesome. We lived in a great neighborhood. It was an awesome city and we enjoyed our time there."

NOTES: RB Marshawn Lynch has been limited by a groin injury all week but is not listed on the injury report for the game against the Rams. ... RB DeAndre Washington (knee) is out and DT Brian Price (hamstring) is questionable.

GREEN BAY Marc-Andre Fleury Jersey , Wis. (AP) — Nick Perry thought it would be a “beautiful” day when the Green Bay Packers finally activated him from the physically unable to perform list and allowed him to start practicing.

As it turned out, Sunday was even better than that for the Packers outside linebacker.

“Like my dad says, ‘It’s an exquisite day,'” Perry said after coming off the PUP list in time to take part in Sunday’s closed practice. “I’m excited just to be out there and just be back with the team and put my best foot forward moving into the season.”

Perry missed the entire offseason program after ankle surgery following last season, and he has battled injuries throughout his career. The Packers have two preseason games remaining — Friday at Oakland and Aug. 30 at Kansas City — but it’s unclear whether Perry will play in either. The Packers practice Monday and Tuesday and will have a light practice Thursday before departing for Oakland.

“I would love to play Friday. That’s not my call, though,” Perry said. “I would love to play just to have an opportunity to go out there and get some real game reps down. But it’s only a couple days of practice this week. I’m just going to see how I feel moving from a day-to-day basis on whether or not I can take on that load. (The Raiders’) field isn’t as great Sidney Crosby Jersey , either. So that might be another reason why they might say, ‘Hey, just take it easy, wait for next week.'”

Perry said his ankle bothered him throughout last season, when he registered only seven sacks in the first year of a five-year, $59 million deal that included an $18 million guaranteed signing bonus and came after an 11-sack season in 2016.

He also dealt with a broken hand, which forced him to wear a club cast Jonathan Marchessault Jersey , and a shoulder injury while playing in only 12 of 16 games. Perry’s ankle became enough of an issue late in the season that he left the team’s must-win game at Carolina because of it.

Perry has no concerns about being ready for the team’s Sept. 9 regular-season opener against Chicago, and that he won’t have any trouble catching up in the Packers’ new defensive system, which has been installed by new coordinator Mike Pettine.

“We’re at a point where I don’t have a choice,” Perry said. “I think I’ll be fine, ultimately. My body is in good shape to handle a (work) load like that. So it’s just a matter of me getting into practice and fully getting a whole practice under my belt and continue to stack those days.

“I think everything else will take care of itself.”

The Panthers players who have met with new owner David Tepper seem as fired up about his arrival as the league’s other owners were at adding guy worth $11 billion to their exclusive club.

Tepper flew straight from last week’s owners meetings where he was approved by the league to come to Charlotte to meet with some of the team’s key leaders about the anthem policy Mathieu Perreault Jersey , and left them with a favorable impression of the new boss.

鈥淚t went great. Rarely do you see an owner come in and want to rush from the owners meeting and just conversate with the guys,鈥?safety Mike Adams said, via Joe Person of the Charlotte Observer. “Just talk about everything, us as a team.

“The one thing I took away from it Daniel Winnik Jersey , the one thing I like about him is he鈥檚 got that fire and he wants to win. Not taking away from [Jerry] Richardson, but he鈥檚 fired up. He鈥檚 happy.鈥?/p>

While improving on Richardson’s 23-year record of 192-192-1 (including playoffs) will be helpful, Adams was also encouraged by the fact Tepper seemed open to hearing their thoughts on the new anthem policy (which is frankly the kind of conversation Richardson would have never had interest in having).

鈥淭hat was addressed. We talked about that,鈥?Adams said. 鈥淚t was an open conversation and that鈥檚 going to be an ongoing conversation all year long 鈥?with every team. And you know that. Everyone鈥檚 going to be all over that. . . .

鈥淗e let it be known that we have a voice. He understands that we have a voice. And he understands that he has a voice Brock Boeser Jersey , too. And he would like to help us with that in different ways.鈥?/p>

The Panthers under Richardson were one of the least vocal teams in the league, with no kneelers and only one player (Julius Peppers) who stayed in the locker room for the anthem the week after President Donald Trump inflamed players with his SOB remarks.

But between the addition of wide receiver/activist Torrey Smith and Tepper’s new openness to listening to players, things could be changing there.

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick is expressing sympathy for the families and friends of those killed at the office of the Capital Gazette, which he called his ”hometown newspaper.”

Though born in Tennessee Kyle Brodziak Jersey , Belichick was raised in Annapolis, where his father was an assistant football coach at the U.S. Naval Academy. Belichick graduated from Annapolis High School in 1970.

On Thursday, five employees of The Capital were killed by a gunman who broke into the building, opened fire and was subsequently arrested.

In a statement Womens Pavel Buchnevich Jersey , Belichick says: ”For my entire life, The Capital has been my hometown newspaper. My family and I have enjoyed special relationships with many great people who have worked for the newspaper.

”My heart goes out to the victims, their families and the entire Annapolis community for this terrible and senseless tragedy.”

The Patriots have put several players on the sideline ahead of the start of training camp.

According to multiple reports Authentic Dak Prescott Jersey , the team is putting wide receiver Kenny Britt, safety Nate Ebner, cornerback Cyrus Jones and cornerback Jonathan Jones on the physically unable to perform list. They have also placed running back Brandon Bolden on the non-football illness list and wide receiver Cody Hollister on the non-football injury list.

None of the players will be able to practice until they are activated and they may be activated at any time.

Britt was dealing with a hamstring injury during the offseason program while Cyrus Jones is returning from a torn ACL. Jonathan Jones, Ebner and Bolden were all key members of the special teams units in New England last year.

There’s no questioning C.J. Prosise’s talent, only his ability to remain on the football field.

The third-year running back for the Seattle Seahawks has been plagued by injuries throughout his first two years in the NFL. From serious ailments like a fractured scapula Authentic Kirk Cousins Jersey , broken wrist bone and high-ankle sprains to more minor ones like groin, hamstring and hip strains, Prosise has been sidelined constantly.

With Chris Carson back from injury himself and Seattle using their first-round pick on San Diego State back Rashaad Penny, there is an urgency for Prosise to be able to stay healthy and contribute regularly this season.

Prosise spent the offseason trying to get physically ready to make the most of what could be a final opportunity with Seattle.

”I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life,” Prosise said. ”I feel like I can do anything on the field. I feel 100 percent and ready to go so I’m excited for this camp. We play a physical game and injuries happen and you can’t avoid it. This offseason was geared around getting my body prepared to take the punishment that my body needs to take and so my body is in that position to do that now. So I’m ready to play.”

Prosise buckled down with a personal trainer this offseason and was focused on putting himself in a position to withstand the types of injuries that had hampered him his first two seasons.

”That was a big change I made Adam Larsson Jersey ,” Prosise said. ”Before this I didn’t put as much work as I should have been putting in. Now, I’ve kind of figured out my regimen. And also just getting on the field every day and working with drills, specific running back drills and stuff. For the most part hitting the weight room really hard and getting my body toned up and ready for the season is really what’s helped the most.”

Prosise has played in just 11 games in his two years in Seattle. But the limited action was still enough to show the type of player he can be when he’s in peak form. As a rookie in his first career start, he gained 153 yards from scrimmage in a victory over a New England Patriots team that would go on to the win the Super Bowl. His ability to perform both as a runner and as a receiver out of the backfield caused fits for the Patriots defense.

A week later, Prosise broke free for a 72-yard touchdown run against the Philadelphia Eagles. Then Prosise was sidelined when he broke his shoulder blade late in the first half and missed the rest of the season.

A pair of high-ankle sprains held him to just five games played a year ago as well.

Maybe it’s the same tease he’s provided in his first two camps with Seattle but Prosise is again drawing praise in the early stages of training camp.

”I’m so fired up for him Olli Maatta Jersey ,” head coach Pete Carroll said. ”He’s always been such a terrific potential guy and he has just not been able to stay healthy. He’s leaner and stronger. He just is more fit, which screams at how hard he worked and how important this is to him. Couldn’t send a better message.”

The old adage that your greatest ability is your availability couldn’t be more apt when it comes to Prosise. All of his potential will go unrealized if he’s not available on Sundays due to injuries. But as Seattle tries to right a rushing attack that managed just one rushing touchdown from the running back position all last season, having an athlete like Prosise at its disposal would be welcome.

NOTES: LB Joshua Perry, who announced his retirement from the NFL earlier this week due to concussions, told NBC’s ”Today Show” on Thursday that he believes the NFL is doing enough when it comes to concussions. ”I think the hardest part.is the research is a little bit fuzzy. I think that we do a great job in terms of the protocol that the NFL has. Coaches aren’t pressuring players to get back Martin Frk Jersey , I think players feel their own type of pressure to be there for their teammates.” Perry had a long post on social media earlier this week announcing he was stepping away after suffering a sixth concussion in the opening days of training camp. Perry was a fourth-round pick of the Chargers in 2016. He signed with Seattle in June.

The NBA estimates an increase of 40 Womens Dak Prescott Jersey ,000 miles of travel in the postseason if it scrapped its current conference format and took the top 16 teams.

Calls to change the system were renewed this week when LeBron James left Cleveland for the Los Angeles Lakers, which could create another strong Western Conference team, where both Houston and Golden State finished above .700. The only team in the Eastern Conference with a similar record was Toronto. Houston and Golden State met in a thrilling West final before the Warriors swept the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals.

Commissioner Adam Silver has said ideally there would be a format allowing the two best teams to meet for the title, but he has repeatedly expressed concern about the additional travel that would be created if teams were seeded 1 to 16 in the postseason, instead of the current format in which it’s the top eight teams in each conference.

”I think, as I’ve said in the past, the obstacle is travel, and it’s not tradition in my mind, at least,” Silver said at the All-Star break. ”It’s that as we’ve added an extra week to the regular season, as we’ve tried to reduce the number of back-to-backs http://www.jaguarscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-jalen-ramsey-jersey , that we are concerned about teams crisscrossing the country in the first round, for example. We are just concerned about the overall travel that we would have in the top 16 teams.”

The league says it averages about 90,000 miles of total travel in the postseason and estimates that would increase to 130,000. It estimates, based on historical data, an average of 2 series per year matching teams separated by three time zones before the NBA Finals, with about a 90 percent chance of at least one per season.

The WNBA switched its playoff format to the top eight teams instead of by conference in 2016.

A 1-to-16 format would likely mean the league would have to balance the schedule so teams played the same amount of games in the regular season against East and West teams, instead of playing more against the teams on its side.

That would create about 150,000 additional miles of travel in the regular season, the league estimates, from the 1.4 million miles of total travel in 2017-18.

”It’s still my hope that we’re going to figure out ways Torey Krug Jersey ,” Silver said. ”Maybe ultimately you have to add even more days to the season to spread it out a little bit more to deal with the travel. Maybe air travel will get better. All things we’ll keep looking at.”

This story has been corrected to show that Houston and Golden State had the top two records in the Western Conference, not the entire league.

A game behind the Philadelphia 76ers in the race for the third seed in the NBA Eastern Conference, the Cleveland Cavaliers long ago received a gift from the schedulers: home-and-home matchups against the woeful and wounded New York Knicks to end the regular season, starting Monday night at Madison Square Garden.

Whether the Cavaliers can catch the scorching 76ers remains to be seen. Philadelphia is the NBA’s hottest team with a 14-game winning streak — including a 132-130 victory over Cleveland on Friday — and with games at Atlanta and at home against Milwaukee still on the schedule.

But the Cavaliers have their eyes on that crucial prize, made even more crucial by No. 2-seed Boston’s injury problems. A third seed would ensure a second-round matchup with Boston or the No. 7 seed. A fourth seed could mean a meeting with the No. 1 seed Toronto Raptors.

“I always think you try to take the easy way out, it’s always going to come back and bite you,” Cleveland’s Kevin Love said after losing to Philadelphia. “Both teams played extremely hard tonight, we both wanted to get the higher seed no matter who we’re playing. Some matchups work in your favor, I guess, but I just think taking the easy way out in some cases is not the way to go.”

The Cavaliers’ loss to the 76ers revealed a glaring weakness that seemed to have been cured. Cleveland gave up 132 points.

The Cavs entered that matchup on a five-game winning streak and with wins in 10 of 11. The first five wins were scary — the Cavaliers allowed an average of 113 points per game — but in the six games before the loss to Philadelphia, Cleveland had allowed 102 points per game.

“We’re a prideful team Juuse Saros Jersey , and the only way to get back in was be scrappy, play a little bit more physical and hit more shots,” James said. “We were down 30, and for us to come all the way back shows what were capable of doing. But every offensive rebound here, every missed shot. … We turned the ball over, they made us pay, and they were flying.”

Luckily for the Cavs — at least for the next two games — the Knicks are one of the worst offensive teams in the NBA.

The Knicks have gone 4-16 in their last 20 games, averaging 105.5 points per game, and that includes 128-, 124-, and 122-point nights. Remove those and New York averaged 102.

Hurting the Knicks: Tim Hardaway Jr. (ankle) remains out.

Solution for New York: The emergence of rookie second-round pick Damyean Dotson Derick Brassard Jersey , a two-way player with the G-League’s Westchester Knicks. Dotson had 30 points and 11 rebounds in 36 minutes in the team’s surprising 122-98 win over the Miami Heat on Thursday.

“It’s amazing. Just trying to stay the course, keep believing, keep working hard,” Dotson told reporters after becoming the first Knicks rookie to put up a 30-10 game since Patrick Ewing in 1985-86. “Eventually something good will happen. It’s playing the right way, believing in myself, believing in the development, coming from the G-League, coming from back and forth, playing.”

Baker Mayfield's first win was beating the clock.

The No. 1 overall pick in this year's NFL draft signed his rookie contract on Tuesday with the Cleveland Browns Mark Giordano Jersey , who believe the quarterback from Oklahoma can lead them back to respectability and more.

Mayfield finalized his four-year, $32 million deal a day before Cleveland's players are scheduled to report to training camp and avoided being a holdout. Mayfield's contract includes a $22 million signing bonus.

Rookie cornerback Denzel Ward, selected with the No. 4 overall pick, remains unsigned. But the Browns are hopeful they can also get the former Ohio State star under contract before their first practice on Thursday.

One of college football's most popular and polarizing players, Mayfield is not expected to start in his first season for Cleveland. The Browns acquired former Buffalo quarterback Tyrod Taylor during an offseason trade and coach Hue Jackson has made it clear that the veteran will play until Mayfield is ready.

That doesn't mean Mayfield won't try to beat out Taylor.

"I'm always competitive," he said during rookie camp. "It wouldn't matter what (Jackson) was saying in regards to the competition. I'm still going to compete and try and win that job."

Mayfield Filip Forsberg Jersey , who was a two-time walk-on in college, won the Heisman Trophy last season after he passed for 4,627 yards and 43 touchdowns. Despite some questions about his character after an off-field incident and some well-publicized antics during games, the Browns chose him over several other top-tier college QBs in April's draft.

Mayfield impressed coaches and teammates with his attitude and work ethic during spring workouts, but he still has a ways to go before he can unseat Taylor, who ended the Bills' long playoff drought last season.

Cleveland has spent nearly the past two decades searching for its franchise quarterback and hope Mayfield can finally end its quest.

The Browns are coming off a 0-16 season Authentic Melvin Gordon Jersey , but there is renewed optimism following an offseason roster overhaul that included the acquisition of Taylor, wide receiver Jarvis Landry and linebacker Mychal Kendricks.

After transferring from Texas Tech, Mayfield started 39 games for the Sooners. He finished his career with 14,607 yards passing and 131 touchdowns. He also ended ranked second in FBS history in passing efficiency rating (175.4), third in yards per attempt (9.7) and tied for fourth in touchdown passes.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is going to play at least one possession in the preseason opener Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys, coach Kyle Shanahan said.

"He'll play somewhat into the first quarter. We'll see how long the opening drive is http://www.officialhockeypanthersshop.com/authentic-adidas-james-reimer-jersey ," Shanahan said Tuesday.

Garoppolo will be taking his first snaps in a game since signing a five-year, $137.5 million contract in February. Garoppolo has looked good during training camp, including Tuesday's practice when he hit receiver Aldrick Robinson for a pair of touchdowns during full-team drills.

Shanahan said he hasn't determined which veterans will play and which will be given the night off.

Cornerback Richard Sherman was ruled out earlier after suffering a hamstring injury during practice Friday. He spent Tuesday doing conditioning drills and will be re-evaluated next week when San Francisco returns to practice.

Former first-round pick Jimmie Ward is expected to start in Sherman's place despite also missing recent practices with a hamstring injury. Ward returned to full-team drills on Monday to play Sherman's spot at left cornerback after playing free safety in 2017.

Free agent guard Jonathan Cooper, who signed a one-year deal in the spring, inserted himself into the competition to start at right guard this week by participating in team drills for the first time since offseason knee surgery. But Cooper hasn't had enough time in practice to play against the Cowboys.

"He's not able to get through a practice yet," Shanahan said. "We're just putting him in Womens Tom Pyatt Jersey , I want to say it's two plays a period. We're very selective with those plays we put him in. Just trying to build back his confidence from coming off his injury."

Shanahan said the game will dictate how many snaps the defensive starters get.

"It's kind of a feel. We don't want to keep them out there too long, but we definitely want guys to get some reps," he said.

Panthers right tackle Daryl Williams earned some All-Pro votes last season Womens A.J. Green Jersey , and he may have earned himself a lot of money as well.

The Panthers view a new contract for Williams as a priority and may get a deal done before the start of the season, according to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer.

Williams is heading into the final year of the four-year contract he signed as a fourth-round draft pick in 2015. His base salary this year is $1.9 million, which is a bargain for a player of Williams’ caliber.

The 25-year-old Williams played every snap last season and has become a very important cog in the Panthers’ offense. If Carolina can’t get a deal done with him and he has another strong season in 2018, the Panthers would likely put the franchise tag on him, which would guarantee him a 2019 salary in the $15 million range.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns escaped a preseason quarterback swap.

Tyrod Taylor isn’t expected to miss any time — and is still in line to start the Sept. 9 season opener against Pittsburgh — after dislocating his left pinky and bruising his hand in Thursday’s 5-0 win over Philadelphia.

Taylor’s injury initially appeared serious after he awkwardly landed on his non-throwing hand and wrist while bracing his fall after firing an incomplete pass on fourth-and-goal. He immediately grabbed his hand and ran to the sideline before being taken to the locker room for treatment and evaluation. He returned and played in three more series.

“Tyrod had a dislocated pinky but obviously they were able to get that back in place real quickly,” coach Hue Jackson said on a conference call Friday. “It takes 15 seconds to do that. He has a bruised hand. He’s sore. But he’s going to be fine.”

Taylor’s hand was wrapped as he made an appearance at a men’s apparel store Friday night. He was relieved the injury wasn’t serious, and said he’s dealing with soreness but plans to practice Saturday.

“Everything came back negative, which is a good sign and we were able to put the finger back in place Youth James Conner Jersey ,” he said. “It’s my left hand, at the end of the day. So deal with it. It’ll be sore for a couple of days, but it’s nothing that’s going to stop me.”

Taylor said the doctor had some trouble putting his finger back into place.

“I tried to be tough about it,” he said. “I tried not to look at it. I saw that it did dislocate, but I tried to look away and let him do his thing. They’re professionals. They know what they’re doing when it comes to that stuff. It didn’t pop back as quickly as I wanted it to.”

Jackson also said he doesn’t expect rookie starting cornerback Denzel Ward to miss “much time, if any” because of back spasms. Ward, the No. 4 overall pick, got twisted while tackling Eagles tight end Zach Ertz.

Jackson said he hasn’t decided if the first-team offense will play in next week’s exhibition finale at Detroit. Jackson wants his starters to get as much time together as possible and is still considering playing them against the Lions.

The 29-year-old Taylor is in his first season with the Browns Leonard Fournette Jersey Black , who acquired him from Buffalo in a trade in March to stabilize a problematic position. Taylor will start until top overall pick Baker Mayfield is ready, and the Browns will gladly put that off until next season.

Taylor has been a model mentor to Mayfield so far, and the eight-year veteran has impressed everyone with his work ethic and attitude.

The Browns seemed caught off guard that Taylor, who stayed in the locker room for the second half on Thursday, left FirstEnergy Stadium before speaking with reporters.

Taylor did post a thank you to Cleveland fans for their prayers on Twitter and said he was “doing well.”

Jackson said there was relief that Taylor wasn’t more seriously hurt.

“Well, I definitely got the final thought that he was going to be fine when we decided to put him back in,” Jackson said. “Obviously, when (head trainer) Joe Sheehan came back Alex Ovechkin Jersey Kids , he said ‘Everything is fine. There are no issues. He can go back in.’ Obviously, the player was very excited to go back in the game. Again, I felt he needed to, because our offensive football team at that time needed to play together.

“They needed his leadership. He needed to be out there playing with them. I think it is important for them to develop that chemistry, so I felt comfortable that when we put him back out there, things were OK. Obviously, when he was not there and he was inside before he came back, all kinds of thoughts go through your head. But I feel good about where he is and what he will be able to do in the future.”

NOTES: WR Josh Gordon will participate in walk-throughs over the weekend and it’s possible he’ll practice. The former Pro Bowl receiver has only been allowed to attend meetings Wayne Simmonds Jersey , work on the side with trainers and watch since returning from a self-imposed absence in training camp. Gordon, who was on the sideline Thursday night, has played in only 10 games over the past four seasons because of suspensions from drug violations. … Rookie Genard Avery (hip) will be sidelined “some time” but has not been ruled out of the opener. Avery had a strip-sack on the Eagles’ Nick Foles. … Starting S Damarious Randall sat out against the Eagles after a knee locked up during warmups. Jackson said he was held out as a precaution.
