Attending Vikings games: For the 2018 season Minnesota Vikings T-Shirt , in an attempt to cut down on lines and fake tickets as well as improve communication with ticket holders on game day, the Minnesota Vikings decided to become one of six teams who have moved to entirely digital tickets. In fact, Chris Gates wrote a short article previously about this change and the nostalgia factor that would be lost with the demise of the ticket stub. But what about the Vikings fans who, for one reason or another, do not yet have the technology to be able to pull up online tickets? How would they be able to get into the games? As I was scrolling through my Twitter feed last night, a story from Heather Brown over at CBS Minnesota caught my eye that answered that exact question.Suppose that makes a certain amount of sense Minnesota Vikings Hats , it’s more likely that fans of the Vikings were more aware of the new policy. But as for the new way to get in, Brown had more:I’m sure this won’t affect a huge number of fans as seasons pass by and there’s additional time to get used to the changes, especially as smartphones become more and more prevalent in today’s society. But for this season, it seems plenty important to let people know how to maneuver around any lack of technology.Enjoy the games, everyone!Everson Griffen update: More mixed signals from the Vikings When we last spoke about the ongoing situation with Minnesota Vikings’ defensive end Everson Griffen, it was to bring you a report from Adam Schefter that said the team didn’t expect #97 to be back on the field any time soon.As you might expect with a situation like this Minnesota Vikings Hoodie , things change quite a bit. Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune was on hand for Mike Zimmer’s press conference on Thursday afternoon, and brings us the following pair of tweets:Krammer did confirm that Griffen’s return would not be this Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at U.S. Bank Stadium. As we’ve stated in pretty much every story about the Griffen situation since we first got wind of it, obviously the most important thing is for Griffen to get himself in a good place mentally, and then worry about making a return to the football field. As much as we all want to see him out there, that has to be the first priority for him and the team. That said, I’m certain this won’t be the last update that we’ll have on Everson Griffen going forward. We don’t have any sources or anything like that within the organization Cheap Customized Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , so we’re just sort of rolling with the reports we get from other sources on this one. But, if Mike Zimmer’s demeanor on Thursday is any indication, we might be getting closer to the return of Sack Daddy after all.

Five Game-Changing Plays WE MADE IT!Congratulations Minnesota Vikings Womens T-Shirt , football fans. We have officially endured the dog days of summer. The slog of Training Camp and preseason is finally in our rear view mirrors. The next time we see the Minnesota Vikings take the field, it will actually count. And that’s a good thing, because the football we watched last night wasn’t exactly thrilling. With most of the starters on the bench, it was a death match between a lot of players that will be unemployed by Labor Day. It was also a death match to our eyes for most of the evening. We should pray that there isn’t a labor strike after the current CBA expires after the 2020 season, because watching the fourth preseason game is like glimpsing into a grim post-apocalyptic future. The Replacements was a work of fiction for a reason.Although Thursday night’s soggy and sloppy game in Nashville was pretty excruciating for the most part, let’s try to wring out a handful of highlights from the Vikings’ 13-3 win over the Titans.Play 1: Titans ball, 2nd & 15 at the Tennessee 20. First quarter, 14:50 remaining. L.Falk pass short left to D.Fluellen to TEN 24 for 4 yards (E.Wilson, D.Parry) [S.Weatherly]. PENALTY on MIN-S.Weatherly, Roughing the Passer, 15 yards, enforced at TEN 24.The referees were in fourth preseason game form last night too.Stephen Weatherly wasn’t late. He didn’t go low on Luke Falk. Yet he was still flagged for roughing the passer. Umm...OK? This one can’t even be chalked up to “maybe the league is just over-calling a new rule in the preseason to get more tape on it,” because this wasn’t enforcing a new rule. It was incorrectly enforcing an existing rule.Football is a contact sport. You have to let defensive players play defense.Play 2a: Titans ball, 1st & 10 at the Tennessee 39. First quarter, 14:28 remaining. D.Fluellen up the middle to TEN 38 for -1 yards (T.Bower).Play 2b: Titans ball, 3rd & 5 at the Tennessee 44. First quarter Minnesota Vikings Hats , 13:14 remaining. (Shotgun) L.Falk sacked at TEN 38 for -6 yards (S.Weatherly).Tashawn Bower and Weatherly would likely be locks on most 53-man rosters around the league. But since the Vikings are so deep at defensive line, you can’t write either’s name in pen just yet. If they were still fighting for their jobs last night, it’s hard to argue against their inclusion after their respective performances. Bower and Weatherly have been disruptive throughout the preseason. I had Bower firmly on the bubble and Weatherly with a good shot of getting cut in my Training Camp evaluations two weeks ago. After what they have shown, it’s hard for me to see the team parting ways with either player.(Just don’t ask me who they’re going to cut to make room for Bower and Weatherly.)Play 3: Vikings ball, 2nd & 4 at the Minnesota 38. Second quarter, 11:51 remaining. T.Siemian pass short left to R.Thomas to MIN 41 for 3 yards (J.Warmsley). MIN-R.Thomas was injured during the play. His return is Questionable. The third running back spot may have been sealed on this seemingly innocuous screen pass.Even if the injury to Roc Thomas turns out to be nothing, it kept him out for the rest of the game on Thursday and robbed him of any chance at a good final push to overtake Mike Boone. After Thomas went out, Boone had a solid showing of 56 yards on 15 carries along with another 53 yards on two catches. I’d love to see Thomas on the Practice Squad this year, but it certainly appears that Boone has won the roster spot heading into the regular season.Play 4a: Vikings ball, 4th & 2 at the Tennessee 21. Second quarter, 2:00 remaining. (Field Goal formation) D.Carlson 39 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-K.McDermott, Holder-R.Quigley.Play 4b: Vikings ball, 4th & goal at the Tennessee 4. Third quarter, 7:08 remaining. (Field Goal formation) D.Carlson 22 yard field goal is GOOD, Center-K.McDermott Minnesota Vikings Womens Hoodie , Holder-R.Quigley.Two preseason field goals of under 40 yards shouldn’t be that big of a deal, but on Thursday they were.Daniel Carlson splitting the uprights twice was a welcome sight for Vikings fans. They were both chip shots distance-wise, but it was raining and on grass. Three of Carlson’s four kickoffs were touchbacks while the fourth was returned to the Tennessee 19. It was a much better performance all around by the special teams, especially Carlson. Apparently the tough love from the Vikings coaches was effective, at least for this week.Play 5: Vikings ball, 1st & 10 at the Tennessee 24. Fourth quarter, 7:25 remaining. (Shotgun) K.Sloter pass deep right to B.Zylstra for 24 yards, TOUCHDOWN.When a hard-to-watch fourth preseason game has only one touchdown, you better believe we’re going to include it as a game-changing play. While Mike Zimmer insists that Trevor Siemian is the backup to Kirk Cousins, Kyle Sloter outperformed him again in the preseason. He finished 11 of 15 for 130 yards and this touchdown. As good as Sloter has looked in the games, he wasn’t very sharp in Training Camp practices, which might be why the team appears to be sticking to Siemian as the backup. Perhaps the coaching staff has seen more day-to-day consistency from Siemian and trusts his experience. Personally I’d have Sloter as QB2 with a bullet, but I also don’t get paid to make those decisions. Either way, it would be pretty shocking if the Vikings didn’t keep all the quarterbacks not named Peter Pujals on their roster. (But hey, at least Pujals saw the field on Thursday!)The catch was monumental for Brandon Zylstra as well. The former Edmonton Eskimo is vying for one of the final wide receiver spots on the 53-man roster and made a good case for himself last night. He led the team with four receptions and 54 yards. Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen Womens Customized Minnesota Vikings Jerseys , and Laquon Treadwell are locks. Apparently Kendall Wright’s job is safe as well—the coaches have said as much throughout the week and Wright didn’t even have to play on Thursday. That leaves one spot, maybe two, for the rest of the group.Tavarres King hasn’t been healthy for most of the preseason. Cayleb Jones appears to be doing enough off the field to ensure that he won’t be on the field anytime soon. Jake Wieneke has had some nice moments in the preseason, but he is probably Practice Squad at best. Korey Robertson isn’t going to last the weekend. Jeff Badet had a chance on special teams but didn’t make enough of an impact. That leaves Zylstra, Stacy Coley, and Chad Beebe. The last two were out with injuries on Thursday, so Zylsta coming back from his own and making an impact on Thursday definitely helped his case. Personally, I’d be fine with getting rid of Wright, keeping Zylstra and Coley on the 53, and moving Beebe to the Practice Squad. We’ll see what the Vikings actually decide to do.It should be a very interesting next few days as the 32 teams make over 1,100 roster cuts. You can follow along with everything right here with our roster tracker. Until then, let us know what you thought the most important play was from Thursday’s game.R.I.P., Fred Zamberletti Today, the Minnesota Vikings have lost one of the biggest pieces of their franchise history.Fred Zamberletti, who served as the Vikings head athletic trainer for nearly four decades and served in various other capacities for the team, passed away on Sunday at the age of 86.Zamberletti came on board with the Vikings at the inception of the franchise in 1961 as the team’s head athletic trainer www.vikingscheapshops.com , a capacity that he served in until 1998. He then served as the team’s head of medical services from 1999 to 2001, and then as a senior consultant and team historian from 2002 to 2018. He attended every game in franchise history until 2011, when he finally missed one. His overall streak added up to 1,049 games attended in some capacity.Zamberletti played such a role in the history of the franchise that the team inducted him into their Ring of Honor in December of 1998. He is one of just five non-players to have been given that honor, along with coaches Jerry Burns, Bud Grant, and Dennis Green, as well as former General Manager Jim Finks.Prior to getting into the field of medicine, Zamberletti served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. He then graduated from the University of Iowa, and went on to become the head of physical therapy at Hibbing General Hospital and the head athletic trainer at the University of Toledo before joining the Vikings. Here is a list of the honors that Zamberletti received, courtesy of the Minnesota Vikings’ official website:We want to send our condolences to the Zamberletti family on the event of Fred Zamberletti’s passing. He truly is one of the biggest pieces of Minnesota Vikings history, and had an impact on the Minnesota Vikings that few could match.

Monday Open Thread: September 17 Youth Xavier Rhodes Jersey , 2018 Merry Monday, everyone!Well, that was great, and it sucked, and everything in between. I really don’t know where I am on the happiness scale. If you’re feeling the same as I am, you’re probably feeling a lot like this guy today:your mood after your team’s game winds up in a tieI’m also hungry for Thai food, and I had the urge to wear a suit and tie this morning. I’m not sure why..........I’m happy that the Vikings came back after being down by quite a bit late in the game. I’m happy that Kirk Cousins looks to be the real deal, and besides an interception that WAS NOT his fault (glares at Treadwell), had very few mistakes, and also played a very good game. The team didn’t give up, and they were playing in a place where it’s not easy to win........or tie. I’m also happy that I have a mute button on my TV, I used it before the game started, and I kept it on mute for the entire game, and it was wonderful. I find myself doing this more often than not anymore.I’m not happy that the officiating. I’ve never been a fan of Corrente, and my opinion of his officiating worsened yesterday. I’m not happy that the team was down late and that we were so close to getting beat by a lesser team. I’m not happy with the drops, and the Asiata-like bump-set interception that nearly sealed the win......for the wrong team. I’m not happy with our kicker. I’m not going to berate the guy for missing field goals, but those were two field goals that missed badly, and the other was a relatively easy and short kick that should have won the game on the road against our chief division rival, but didn’t. They all three missed to the right, so at least he’s consistent.Around the DN since our last open thread:Dan Persons has your post-game wrap-up.Jonah Dylan wants to talk about Daniel Carlson, as I’m sure many others do. Yes, according to the folks at Football Zebras, the officiating crew for Saturday’s game will be led by Son of Gun Show, Shawn Hochuli. This is the younger Hochuli’s first season as a head referee, so he’s getting used to the idea of being in charge. We’ll see tomorrow if he even lifts.Bro.Weather InfoWell, since we’re at U.S. Bank Stadium, the weather isn’t going to be a factor during the game or anything like that. According to the folks at WeatherNation, temperatures at kickoff will be in the mid 80s with no chance of precipitation, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team have the big swivel doors open for Saturday’s contest.Streaming InfoThere are a couple of different options for streaming the game online via subscription, notably NFL Game Pass and Fubo.tv. It’s “free trial” season for Game Pass, so do with that information what you will.As far as other streams are concerned, do NOT. . .and I mean not in any way, shape, or form. . .promote illegal streaming sites on The Daily Norseman. Not in the comments, not in the FanPosts, not in the FanShots, not in the Game Thread, not anywhere. Don’t even hint at them. Trust me on this. If you’re that determined to watch the game via an illegal stream, do a Google search and find it on your own. And feel free to not blame us for any ill effects your computer or device might suffer as a result. That should be all of the information you need to follow along with all of the action as the Vikings make their return to Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon. We’ll have our Game Thread up about an hour before kickoff, as is tradition. Hope to see you here!

Could Bucs Jameis Winston Be Suspended? [Podcast] While it might be the middle of June Womens Vonn Bell Jersey , things are heating up as if it’s already August. CBS Sports writer Ryan Wilson suggested that New Orleans Saints LB A.J. Klein could be a Post June 1st trade option and had the Buffalo Bills picking up his tab. Also, while nothing is official, there is discussion that Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston could be handed a one game suspension. Finally, before getting into question and answer time with the fans Ellias and myself tackle the tough question: Is the Saints roster better than the Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans? While the Saints have the advantage at quarterback thanks to Drew Brees, do they have the edge in other areas as well? It’s another jam packed episode of the most popular Saints podcast on the web. Chris Thompson feels the pain Authentic Alex Okafor Jersey , not the nerves.Eleven months ago, the running back was in the middle of a career season with the Washington Redskins before he broke his right fibula on a freak play at the Superdome against the New Orleans Saints. He returns to the site of that injury Monday night looking like his old self but not quite feeling back to normal."As far as my speed and my route-running, all of that, yes," Thompson said Thursday. "As far as feeling pain-free, no. That's the only negative that I have right now."It's a negative Thompson is certainly overcoming as the almost-perfect complementary backfield piece to Adrian Peterson. His 20 catches are the most on the team, and coupled with his 5.5 yards a carry average and pass protection skills, he is one of the most valuable pieces of the offense.Just three games with Thompson have made a believer out of quarterback Alex Smith."It's easy to label those guys as kind of scat backs Womens Max Unger Jersey , specialist-type backs, but I don't think Chris is limited in that way," Smith said. "He's a guy that can do everything and has a ton of tools."Thompson was the Redskins' do-everything player last season before the injury. He had 804 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns in nine-plus games before a Saints defender rolled up on him and caused the fracture.Coach Jay Gruden is proud of the 27-year-old's diligence in rehab and ability to hold himself back in training camp and preseason to get prepared for Week 1. Thompson is on the field and productive but has to fight through pain during the week at practice as he bounces back from games."It's recovery stuff," Thompson said. "It's just all part of the process. I'm able to play now and game days for some reason I really don't have much pain at all. It's kind of different during the week."Thompson has come back from severe knee, shoulder and back injuries in the past, so pain tolerance doesn't seem to be an issue. His team certainly can't tell he's bothered by anything right now because Thompson seems to be on top of his game."He's explosive and fast and physical and everything he was before the injury, if not better," Gruden said. "He hasn't lost a step Authentic DeMario Davis Jersey , in my opinion."Saints coach Sean Payton said Thompson is "certainly someone you have to pay attention to," and he's not alone in thinking that way. Green Bay doubled Thompson in coverage to limit his impact in Week 3, but Smith, Peterson and tight end Jordan Reed were able to do enough to put up 31 points on the Packers.Washington will likely have to keep up that pace against New Orleans, which has averaged over 34 points a game so far this season. The Redskins can count on Thompson to help that cause as he tries not to dwell on his injury when he's back at the Superdome."I'm just excited to get back," Thompson said. "I haven't had any nerves or even really thought much about me going back and the injury and the whole payback thing. I'm really not thinking about that. I know probably when the game comes around it'll be some nerves going maybe. But as of right now, it's just focus on just trying to win the game."NOTES: WR Josh Doctson did not practice Wednesday or Thursday because of a heel injury. Gruden said Doctson got kicked in the heel Monday and isn't sure if the 2016 first-round pick will be ready to face the Saints. ... CB Josh Norman (hamstring) expects to be ready to play Monday night.AP Sports Writer Brett Martel in New Orleans contributed.

Steady progress. The first eight games of Sam Darnold's NFL career have been marked by the ups and downs typical of a rookie quarterback playing his way through a crash course of a life as a pro.Starting now New Orleans Saints Hats , though, the face of the New York Jets franchise wants more."I'm always looking to improve," Darnold said Wednesday. "I guess I'm happy with the way I've played. I feel like I've stayed poised, I've done my job every week, but at the same time, in that same breath, I think I can always do a better job protecting the football."Darnold is tied with Denver's Case Keenum and Tampa Bay's Jameis Winston for the most interceptions in the NFL with 10. A week after throwing three against Minnesota, the No. 3 overall pick had none in New York's loss at Chicago. That's progress, and something off which he can build."Ten picks, it's not ideal," Darnold said. "You obviously don't want turnovers, but I thought I've been doing a good job lately of taking care of the football. If I can just do that, I think I'll be all right."As far as the Jets are concerned, Darnold is better than just "all right." They like the way he has handled himself during both the highs — a two-game winning streak during which he threw five touchdown passes — and the lows — a three-game skid and the team's current two-game losing streak. From the time Darnold was declared the starter for the season ahead of veterans Josh McCown and the since-traded Teddy Bridgewater, it has been all about letting him learn and grow."Just being able to find consistency," Darnold said when asked what his biggest focus has been. "I think I've done a pretty good job of, first of all, finding the open guys, but also I think I can do a better job of, once the open guy is not there if the first and second guy is not there, know exactly where my check-down is and go to him. If he's not there, go right to a scramble drill or look to find open room."If I feel the pocket closing down or everyone is closing in on me, just to be able to throw the ball away. Throw it at someone's feet and live to see another down. I think that's more of the growth that I see happening in the near future."Darnold is 21, but his approach is that of a more-seasoned player who has been through it all before. It has served him well, as has his refusal to repeat mistakes on the field."Just a natural progression each week," coach Todd Bowles said when asked what he's expecting over the next eight games. "Him getting out the huddle faster and making the audibles, understanding the game and the game slowing down for him, which he has done and will continue to do, and that's what we look for."Darnold has 11 touchdown tosses, having thrown at least one in each game except for the distressing loss at Cleveland in Week 3.There are other numbers, though, that look very much like they belong to a rookie. His 55.2 completion percentage — 138 of 250 passing — is the second lowest in the league among quarterbacks who have thrown at least 130 passes. Darnold's 74.5 quarterback rating also ranks among the NFL's worst. The Jets rank 29th in overall offense, including 28th in the passing game. They're also 28th in the league while averaging 200.4 total yards per game, and their 314.1 yards per game is better than just three teams: Tennessee, Buffalo and Arizona. The last two also have been led by rookie QBs.The Jets' struggles aren't all on the rookie. Ankle injuries to Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson have left Darnold without his top two receivers, and there have been few options to step up in their place. Running back Bilal Powell, a versatile threat out of the backfield, is out for the rest of the season with a neck injury."Guys' first year in the NFL is usually a tough one," Darnold said. "I'm aware of that, but at the same time, we have certain standards here and expectations of winning. I don't really use that as an excuse."Darnold will get a chance to start turning things around on the field and in the standings Sunday at Miami, the first opponent he'll face for a second time. In Week 2, he had a season-best 334 yards passing, but also had two INTs in a 20-12 loss at home.He knows none of this is easy, and didn't expect it to be. Darnold just wants to be better."Sure it's tough," he said. "I mean, it's NFL football. It's tough defenses and they're doing some different things that I've never seen before, but at the same time New Orleans Saints Hoodie , credit to the coaches, and Josh and Davis (Webb). We've been preparing really well throughout the week, every single week. We've just got to continue to do that, continue to prepare really hard, and I think that'll just continue to help me throughout the year."NOTES: WRs Quincy Enunwa (sprained ankle) and Robby Anderson (ankle), TE Neal Sterling (concussion), NT Steve McLendon (ankle), CBs Trumaine Johnson (quadriceps) and Morris Claiborne (excused absence), and LBs Frankie Luvu (neck) and Kevin Pierre-Louis (foot) did not practice. ... C Spencer Long (knee/finger), S Marcus Maye (thumb), LT Kelvin Beachum (knee/ankle) and LB Jordan Jenkins (ankle) were limited.2018 New Orleans Saints Training Camp Preview: Cornerback The New Orleans Saints won the NFC South division last year for the first time since 2011, thanks in large part to a vastly improved defense that complimented their always prolific offense. The play and health of the Saints secondary, often a team weakness, was a major reason for the improvement. The team had an incredible Seven defensive backs miss significantly time with injuries in 2016, severely limiting any consistent effectiveness. The Saints addressed the issue in a big way before entering last season, drafting a cornerback with the 11th overall pick and a safety, Marcus Williams, with the 42nd overall selection in the 2017 draft to add to their already very young defensive backfield. After previewing the safety position last week, we take a look at what could turn out to be one of the deepest positions on the team in today's training camp preview.CORNERBACK Key Losses: Delvin Breaux (free agent, CFL)Key Additions: Patrick Robinson (free agent, Eagles), Natrell Jamerson (draft, 5th round)Photo by Chris Graythen/Getty ImagesMarshon Lattimore surprisingly fell to number eleven in last spring's draft, and the Saints wasted no time in pouncing on the Ohio State star. Lattimore would not only win the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, but became the first New Orleans cornerback since Eric Allen in 1995 to be voted to the Pro Bowl, and just the fourth cornerback in franchise's 52-yr. history to receive such an honor. Lattimore led the Saints in interceptions (5, including one for a touchdown), pass breakups (18), and quickly established himself as one of the league's top cornerbacks. He can play either outside or slot, is equally effective in man to man or off coverage, and would often lock on to the opposition's top receiver. He has the size, athleticism, and natural cover skills to match up with the NFL's best receivers. Lattimore was primarily responsible for limiting star wideouts Jarvis Landry, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, DaVante Adams, DeSean Jackson, and Mike Evans to an average of just 25 yards per game when facing the Saints last season, and not a single touchdown reception. Atlanta's Julio Jones, widely considered as perhaps the top receiver in the league, was held out of the end zone in two memorable matchups against the Saints star rookie in what looks to be a gripping rivalry for many years going forward. Lattimore's ability to take on the opponent's best receiver with little help has an effect on the entire defense. It allows coordinator Dennis Allen to employ more intricate coverage schemes, as well as freeing up extra defenders for run support or more aggressive blitz packages. Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY SportsKen Crawley was literally thrown into the fire in 2016, his rookie season. After making the team as an undrafted free agent from Colorado, Crawley was pressed into a starting role due to the team's mounting injuries in the secondary. The result was a predictably uneven performance, but one where Crawley showed potential as he gained valuable experience. After an inconsistent performance last preseason that caused him to be inactive for the first two games of the season, Crawley was inserted back into the the starting lineup, where he and Lattimore formed one of the better cornerback duos in the league. Due to Lattimore's lockdown skills, Crawley was often targeted by opposing offenses Cheap Customized New Orleans Saints Jerseys , and responded with the second most pass breakups on the team, along with his first career interception. He was particularly tough to throw against near the goal line, giving the opposition fits with his tall frame and long reach. Crawley does struggle with smaller, shifty receivers, but performs his best against big physical wideouts, a trait that certainly suits him well against the bigger targets through the NFC. Like Crawley, De'Vante Harris was pressed into action during his rookie year of 2016 after making the team as an undrafted free agent. Unlike Crawley, Harris has not progressed, struggling mightily a season ago. He opened up the year as a starter in the first two games against Minnesota and New England, both losses. Harris was benched after those two contests, as the New Orleans defense surrendered a combined 692 yards passing, six touchdowns and 80% completion percentage. His defensive snaps were limited after that, but in two games when Harris did receive more extensive playing time, the Saints gave up a combined 665 yards and five passing touchdowns in games against the Redskins and Rams. Although he will be given an opportunity to compete for a roster spot again, Harris seems likely to be the first veteran cut from this group. Kim Klement-USA TODAY SportsAfter playing in less than six quarters in his first two seasons due to injury, P.J. Williams played in all 16 games in 2017, starting six. Although he had 2 interceptions and nine pass breakups, Williams' performance was inconsistent, and he often struggled in man coverage. Arthur Maulet looks to make a bid for extensive playing time this season, after making the squad as an undrafted free agent last year. The native of Kenner, Louisiana is a bit undersized, but is an aggressive man-to-man defender with explosive leaping ability. He earned a roster spot last season with solid coverage during the preseason and standout special teams play. Another special teams standout was reserve cornerback Justin Hardee, who had the third most snaps on the team on special teams, providing solid kick coverage, and blocked a punt against Tampa Bay, returning it for a key touchdown. Photo by Brian Kersey/Getty ImagesPhoto by Abbie Parr/Getty ImagesPatrick Robinson returned to the Saints this offseason, where he played for five seasons after being drafted in the first round (32nd overall) in 2010. Robinson was often inconsistent during his first stint in New Orleans, and has played for three different teams in the previous three years, but was one of the better slot corners in the league last season with the Eagles. Natrell Jamerson was drafted in the 5th round this spring, in part because of his outstanding special teams play, and also for his versatility in the secondary at Wisconsin. Jamerson, who was recruited to the Badgers as a wide receiver, played both safety and corner during his final three collegiate seasons. He will likely see snaps at both cornerback and safety this preseason, and shows natural defensive back instincts despite his inexperience. Crawley, Harris, and Maulet all made impacts as undrafted college free agents, and the latest player to watch may be former University of Cincinnati star Linden Stephens. Stephens has both the size and athleticism to match up with most receivers, and exhibits the aggressive coverage style that Dennis Allen and secondary coach Aaron Glenn prefer to play. The top three roster spots at cornerback look set, with Lattimore, Crawley, and likely Robinson. The major questions at this position are this:1) Will the Saints get the erratic Patrick Robinson of 2010-16, or the Robinson that starred for a tough Philadelphia defense a year ago?2) Will any of the young New Orleans corners (Maulet, Jamerson, Stephens) be able to take spots away from more established veterans like Williams, Hardee, and Harris?Competition for those final 2-3 cornerback positions should be fierce throughout training camp and preseason games. The performance of Lattimore and Crawley helped spark a major defensive improvement in 2017, but the defense struggled when either of the two were out of the lineup. The improved depth of the Saints cornerback unit could be one of the keys to a championship run in 2018.

Network analyst Brian Baldinger Youth Ryan Ramczyk Jersey , also called Baldy, has quickly earned a spot among New Orleans Saints fans’ favorites.Baldy is known for his enthusiastic film studies, highlighting clips of players doing things really well - and praising them for it - as often as picking out things going horribly wrong and burying them for it.He’s done a lot to bridge the gap between fan-friendly content and the hyped-up coach speak you’ll hear on NFL sidelines. While that trademarked style has gotten him love from all around the NFL, Baldy’s relationship with Saints fans may be his strongest. He was the conductor of Marshon Lattimore’s Defensive Rookie of the Year hype train, and has become a big fan of other Saints like Alvin Kamara, Terron Armstead, Larry Warford Youth Marcus Williams Jersey , and Cam Jordan. He even chimed in with support for the New Orleans Pelicans during their recent go-for-broke playoff series.Lately, Baldy has turned his attentions towards the top 2018 NFL Draft prospects. One name he’s latched onto with intensity is Marcus Davenport. So far, it seems like Baldy has found plenty to like in Davenport and the trade the Saints made to go get him.Baldy just might get it.He highlights the need for a real presence opposite Jordan on the defensive line in this clip, showing how the Minnesota Vikings double-teamed Jordan on penultimate plays in their Divisional Round playoff game without fearing a breakdown in protection elsewhere. All Davenport has to do as a rookie is beat the man in front of him:Davenport was one of the names most-discussed at the Reese’s Senior Bowl earlier this spring, and while he struggled early in practice the UTSA grad turned on the heat in the game itself.Baldy appreciates that, and draws a connection between Davenport’s playmaking ability and an area of need on the Saints defense:while the Saints were third in the NFL in interceptions last year (20) they were second-to-last in fumbles recovered (5 of 20).Lastly, anywhere you look you’ll see Davenport described as “raw”.I can’t listen to a draft recap podcast without analysts talk about him like he doesn’t know what football is http://www.authenticsneworleanssaints.com/cheap-thomas-morstead-jersey , or the expectation that he’ll be a gameday inactive as a rookie. These guys are focusing too much on what Davenport hasn’t done yet rather than what he does well, like hold up in run defense and generate pressure out of wide alignments.Baldy smartly picks up on this:It’s easy for Baldy to sell you on a prospect. So the wise thing would be to reserve your judgment, keep no expectations, and let things ride out.But I’ll be more than happy to drink the Kool-Aid on this one and celebrate every little thing Davenport does well.Three reasons the 2018 Saints will win the Super Bowl...and 3 reasons they won’t: Podcast The boys preview the 2018 Saints season by giving 3 reasons why they will be great and 3 reasons why they will not. Dooley It appears that the Minnesota Vikings have made the final cut to their linebacking corps en route to getting their roster down to 53 players.Per numerous sources Womens Andrew Sendejo Jersey , the Vikings have parted ways with linebacker Garret Dooley.Dooley was undrafted out of the University of Wisconsin, and signed with the Vikings in the post-draft signing frenzy. It was going to be an uphill battle for him to make the 53-man roster, but there’s a chance that he could be a practice squad candidate. With that, it appears that the Vikings are done trimming the linebacker corps. The fifth linebacker spot now belongs to seventh-round pick Devante Downs, who will join Anthony Barr http://www.minnesotavikingsteamonline.com/xavier-rhodes-jersey , Eric Kendricks, Ben Gedeon, and Eric Wilson in the Vikings’ linebacker room. We’ve still got plenty to report for you as we get closer to the roster deadline in about two hours. He spent some time on the Lions’ practice squad, as well as the practice squad of the Arizona Cardinals before signing with Minnesota in December. The Vikings released him in January Authentic Kirk Cousins Jersey , but signed him to a futures contract after their season had concluded. No word yet at this point about whether or not Norton is a candidate to come back to the practice squad.Even though the deadline for roster moves has passed, we’re still waiting for word of the last few transactions to hit the wire from Eagan. Hope to see you here!Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Rams: Third quarter open thread With the game tied at 7-7, the Minnesota Vikings opened the second quarter against the Los Angeles Rams with a 1st-and-10 from their own 35. Kirk Cousins picked up where he left off, finding Adam Thielen for a big gain to the Los Angeles 38-yard line for a huge gain. A pivotal moment came as the Vikings faced a 4th-and-1 from the Los Angeles 29 on the ensuing set of downs, and Cousins handled it himself with a quarterback sneak to gain the yardage needed.A run by Dalvin Cook brought up another third down opportunity, this one a 3rd-and-2 from the Rams’ 19. Cousins dropped back to pass and a bunch of players had a chance to get their hands on it, but it fell incomplete. Dan Bailey came on for his first field goal attempt as a Viking, and he connected. . .with the right upright. AND THEN IT WENT THROUGH! The 37-yard field goal gave the Vikings the lead back at 10-7 with about ten minutes to go in the half.Bailey’s kickoff went for a touchback, giving the Rams the ball at their own 25. After a run by Gurley, the Rams showed off their big-play chops, as Jared Goff dropped back to pass and floated a perfect pass into the hands of Cooper Kupp for a huge 70-yard touchdown pass with Anthony Barr in. . .well, I suppose it was technically “coverage.” Sam Ficken added the extra point, and the Rams were in the lead for the first time in the game at 14-10.I’m about done with Anthony Barr Womens Tom Compton Jersey , kids.Ficken’s kickoff was good for another touchback, putting the Vikings at the 25 to start for the third time in three possessions. The Vikings got a huge play to start the drive, as Cousins found Stefon Diggs on a short pass that Diggs turned into a big 34-yard gain into Los Angeles territory at the 41. Cousins then hit a wide open Kyle Rudolph for 24 more yards into the Rams’ red zone at the 17. On the next play, Cousins found the Vikings’ newest touchdown machine, Aldrick Robinson, for a 17-yard score to give him his second of the night. Bailey connected on the extra point, and the Vikings took the lead back at 17-14.Los Angeles started at their own 25 after another touchback, and there was some actual defense played as the Vikings forced the first three-and-out of the evening! Johnny Hekker came on to punt for the Rams, and the Vikings set up shop at their own 29 with just under seven minutes left in the half. The Vikings faced another third down right away, and could not convert as Cousins faced huge pressure from the Rams’ defense and had to throw it away. Matt Wile punted the ball away, and got a favorable roll to set the Rams up at their own 29-yard line. The Rams converted a first down in a couple of plays, with Goff finding Kupp for an 11-yard gain after a missed tackle by Mackensie Alexander. Goff then found Robert Woods for a huge 36-yard gain into Minnesota territory at the 19-yard line. After that, Goff found Kupp once again, this time for a 19-yard score over both Trae Waynes and Mike Hughes. It was an absolutely perfect throw by Goff, and Sam Ficken connected on the extra point to give the Rams a 21-17 lead with just under four minutes left in the half.Minnesota once again started at their own 25 after another touchback. They faced another third down, and Cousins found Thielen for a gain of eight to move the chains. A nice run by Latavius Murray was wiped out by a holding call on Pat Elflein just before the two-minute warning. A short pass to Diggs was snuffed out to make it 3rd-and-23, and a short pass to Murray didn’t get the needed yardage, forcing the Vikings to punt. Matt Wile’s punt was fair caught by Kupp at the Rams’ 27.Xavier Rhodes was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct on the Rams’ first play from scrimmage after a catch by Kupp, and the Rams were quickly into Minnesota territory at the 47. On the very next play, Goff connected for his fourth scoring pass of the night, as Brandin Cooks got behind Trae Waynes for a 47-yard score. Ficken added the extra point, and the Rams extended their lead to 28-17.Minnesota started out at their own 25 after another touchback with 1:26 on the clock and three timeouts. The Vikings marched into Rams’ territory to the 39-yard line, where they faced a 3rd-and-4. A short pass to Diggs made it 4th-and-inches, and Cousins converted their second 4th-and-short of the night with another sneak. A pass to Rudolph got the ball to the Rams’ 21, and the Vikings were forced to call their last timeout. Dan Bailey came on to attempt a 39-yard field goal, and he connected to make it 28-20 as we go into the locker room at halftime.Cousins has been hot in this one, completing 25-of-32 passes for 255 yards and two scores. Jared Goff, unfortunately, has been even hotter, as he went 13-for-17 for 251 yards and four touchdowns. The Rams will get the ball first to start the second half of play, so the Vikings are going to have to get a stop. At halftime, we have a shootout, as the Vikings trail the Rams by a score of 28-20.

Key Information and First Quarter Open Thread We are about an hour away from kickoff in Philadelphia between the Minnesota Vikings and the Philadelphia Eagles. This is a pretty significant game for both teams Xavier Rhodes Jersey , but it sure would be nice if the Vikings could find a way to pull this one out, wouldn’t it?Here is everything you need to know about today’s contest.Time: Sunday, 7 October, 3:25 PM Central timeLocation: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaTelevision coverage: KSTP-9 in the Twin Cities, and FOX affiliates across the country that you can see on the maps right hereRadio coverage: Vikings Radio Network, Sirius Channel 127, XM Channel 225 (PHI feed)Line: Philadelphia -3, over/under 48.5Prediction: Eagles 31, Vikings 27Three keys1) Try actually playing defense - The Minnesota defense has been getting torched up and down the field against pretty much every team they’ve played this season. There’s too much talent on this defense for them to continue to be this bad, so they need to figure out their issues and start stopping opposing offenses. If they get into a shootout with the Eagles, I’m not sure if they can keep up.2) Limit mistakes - The Vikings need to win the turnover battle this week to have any chance of winning. They were very good at taking care of the football in their win over San Francisco, and less so in every game since then. When you’re facing a team the quality of the Eagles, there’s no reason to give them extra opportunities, so Kirk Cousins needs to continue making good decisions and everyone needs to ensure they hold on to the football.3) Keep your focus - I’m sure the Vikings have spent their week being reminded of the last time they played in this stadium. They’re still also dealing with one of their teammates fighting a significant issue. However, they need to do what they can to put all of that in the rear view mirror and concentrate on the task at hand. We can’t see the same sorts of lapses that have plagued this team the past couple of weeks if they want to win this game and turn their season around.Know the Foe: Bleeding Green NationTwitter: Right hereFaceBook: www.facebook.com/TheDailyNorsemanTweets by DailyNorseman As usual, we will have a new Open Thread at the start of each quarter, ladies and gentlemen, so keep your eyes peeled for that. We are less than an hour away from today’s opening kickoff, as the most important team in the National Football League plays host to the San Francisco 49ers in the first game of the brand new season.Yes, this isn’t the format that you’re used to seeing for the Game Threads. I’m working on a way to bring that format back but, at the present time, I’m a bit limited. So, this is what we’re going with at the moment. With that, here’s everything you need to know about today’s matchup.Time: Sunday, 9 September, noon Central timeLocation: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MinnesotaTelevision coverage: KMSP-9 in the Twin Cities, and a bunch of other FOX affiliates across the nation that you can see right here.Radio coverage: Vikings Radio Network, Sirius Channel 81, XM Channel 226Line: Minnesota -7, Over/Under 45.5Prediction: Vikings 27, 49ers 17Three keys1) Establish the run early - Everyone is going to expect Kirk Cousins to come out slinging, looking for Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen to get the Minnesota offense moving. The bigger key http://www.vikingsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-mike-remmers-jersey , honestly, could be to get the run game going early to give a solid 49ers defense something to think about. San Francisco comes into this one without star linebacker Reuben Foster, and the Vikings would do well to exploit that early. Whether it’s Dalvin Cook, Latavius Murray, or even Mike Boone, the Vikings need to get a run game going early on.2) Give Jimmy Garoppolo a rude welcome - By the same token, Garoppolo is one of the names that’s on everyone’s mind going into this season. He help the Niners run off five consecutive wins to finish their season after a 1-10 start, and the Niners responded by making him the highest-paid player in football. . .a title he held for a couple of weeks. Everson Griffen draws a tough assignment against veteran Joe Staley, but on the other side we’ll see Danielle Hunter. . .who spent all preseason toying with opposing linemen. . .lining up against Mike McGlinchey, the Niners’ top pick in this year’s draft. Hopefully that’s a matchup that Hunter can exploit.3) Win the special teams battle - With a new punter and a kicker making his regular season debut, it’s going to be interesting to see how the special teams units function for the Vikings in this matchup. Minnesota has been solid on special teams in recent years, and against a quality opponent like the Niners, they’ll need to do what they can to find advantages. They don’t need to make mistakes on special teams and give the Niners extra opportunities.Know the Foe: Niners NationTwitter: The Daily Norseman’s collection of bloggersFaceBook: www.facebook.com/TheDailyNorsemanA Twitter List by DailyNorseman As yours truly is still on vacation, Ted will be along with the Open Threads for the other three quarters.
