TORONTO (AP) Mitch Marner stepped up with Auston Matthews sidelined by a shoulder injury.

Boston tied it 2-2 on Marchand’s second of the period. Marchand beat Andersen from close range for his 23rd of the season.

Not in college. Not in high school. Not in peewee football. Not even in the backyard against family and friends.
Bortles put together one decent drive all day, doing as much with his legs as his arm, and the defensive-minded Jacksonville Jaguars eked out an ugly and sometimes unwatchable 10-3 victory against the Buffalo Bills in an AFC wild-card game Sunday.
Article continues below ...Bortles became the second starting quarterback in the past 25 years to win a playoff game with more rushing yards (88) than passing (87). Atlanta’s Michael Vick also did it against the St. Louis Rams in the 2004 playoffs.
”That’s usually not ideal for a quarterback,” Bortles said.
It was enough to help the third-seeded Jaguars (11-6) get to the next round against No. 2 seed Pittsburgh.
The sixth-seeded Bills (9-8) will head home after ending the longest, current playoff drought in North American professional sports.
”We had bigger goals,” Buffalo linebacker Preston Brown said. ”Once we got in the dance, we didn’t want to be one and done. We didn’t want to treat this like a bowl game, go down to Florida and everybody relaxes. We wanted to move on.
”This really stings to lose in this way when you hold them to 10 points. We just didn’t find a way to hold them to zero points to win the game.”
Bortles was a big reason Jacksonville won its first playoff game since January 2008. He was big reason it was so close Eagles Paul Worrilow Jersey , too.
This was far from a passing clinic. It was more like a painful exercise in overcoming poor passing.
Bortles made up for it with his scrambling ability. He had several long runs, with the highlight coming in the fourth quarter when he fumbled a shotgun snap, picked it up and outran two defenders for an 18-yard gain.
The play prompted a Bills assistant to slam his clipboard to the ground, which left Bortles smiling as he flipped the ball to an official.
”We weren’t sharp. We made some bad plays and did some stupid stuff,” Bortles said. ”But we found a way to win, and that’s all that matters.”
He completed 12 of 23 passes for 87 yards, with a touchdown. His TD pass to backup tight end Ben Koyack late in the third quarter was his best throw of the game. It also was a gutsy call on fourth-and-goal from the 1.
Bortles did the rest on the ground, picking up first downs and helping Jacksonville win its first playoff game at home since the 1999 season.

Taylor’s helmet slammed hard against the ground after getting thrown down by Dante Fowler Jr. He had to be helped off the field, forcing backup Nathan Peterman into the game with 1:27 remaining.
All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey tipped and then intercepted Peterman’s third pass, and the Jaguars ran out the clock.

HUGE SWING
Trailing 10-3 with about six minutes to play, the Bills looked as if they picked up a first down on an 11-yard pass from Tyrod Taylor to Clay. Jacksonville players standing on the sideline pointed to Clay’s feet, and coach Doug Marrone threw the challenge flag. Officials overturned the completion, saying Clay was out of bounds and setting up a third-and-10 play from the Jacksonville 48-yard line. Linebacker Myles Jack sacked Taylor on the next play, forcing a punt.
INJURIES
Bills: Safety Micah Hyde left the game in the third quarter and was being evaluated for a concussion. Cornerback Tre’Davious White went to the locker room in the fourth to be treated for cramps. Safety Colt Anderson injured his right shoulder in the fourth trying to make a diving interception.
Jaguars: Linebacker Paul Posluszny (hip) left, tried to return and then headed to the locker room. He did not return. Receiver/punt returner Jaydon Mickens (hamstring) also left the game.
UP NEXT

Adams was taken off the field on a stretcher with about 4 minutes left in the third quarter on Thursday night after getting hit in the head during a tackle by Trevathan. The game was delayed for about 5 minutes while medical personnel tended to Adams. He gave a thumbs-up signal as he was wheeled off the field.
The Packers said he was conscious and taken to a hospital for evaluation for possible head and neck injuries, and that he had feeling in all of his extremities.
Article continues below ...Trevathan was called for an unnecessary roughness penalty following Adams’ 8-yard catch but was not ejected and any fine would not come to light until next week. Green Bay won the game 35-14.
”It was definitely a scary moment,” said wide receiver Randall Cobb, who was one of the players who waved over to the Packers’ sideline for the medical staff immediately after the hit.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy wouldn’t say Friday whether he believes Trevathan should be suspended Bears Roquan Smith Jersey , though he left little doubt how he felt about the play.
”Brutal hit,” McCarthy said. ”It’s a helmet-to-helmet hit. Davante was in a compromised position. Obviously, like everything in our game, it’s evaluated and I’m sure there will be continued conversation going on through the channels long past today.”

When Brandon McManus missed five early field goals that were well within his range and punter Riley Dixon also got off to a slow start, Olivo insisted it was his fault. He said he had to ”do a better job of putting Riley and Brandon in better situations.”
The plan against the Chargers last month was to keep speedster Travis Benjamin in check with directional punts. But Benjamin returned Dixon’s line drive right down the middle for a tone-setting touchdown.
”That’s on me,” Olivo said. ”We knew that Travis Benjamin was a guy that we had to stop. That was one of our first objectives going into that week. I didn’t do a good enough job of preparing him to do that Authentic Deadrin Senat Jersey , apparently.”

With the Broncos (3-5) hosting the Patriots (6-2) and their renowned special teams Sunday night, Olivo took the opportunity Friday to suggest New England was his model, praising in particular Matthew Slater for his ”burning desire to make plays.”
”That’s where I’ve come up short. I haven’t created that culture here yet,” Olivo said. ”… I’m trying to drive that home to the guys every day. We’ve got to have guys with that attitude like Matthew Slater Cheap Cordy Glenn Jersey , that leadership, guys who take pride in special teams.
”We have a couple. It needs to be contagious and it needs to spread throughout that meeting room and be translated onto the practice field. That’s on me. I’ve got to create that. That’s why I’m here. McAdoo refused on Monday to get drawn into a tiff with Reese as the team returned from its bye week and faced the final nine games of the season with a 1-6 record.
While accepting the blame for the team’s performance, Reese also had shared the blame with his second-year coach last week.
Article continues below ...It’s the coach’s job to have the team ready to play and Reese said the record shows they were not ready despite having a shot at winning almost every game.
”Everything falls on my shoulders,” McAdoo said after putting the team through a short workout to start preparations for Sunday’s game at home against the Los Angeles Rams (5-2).
McAdoo said that it just wasn’t one problem that was responsible for the start. There was an injury to star receiver Odell Beckham Jr., struggles on the offense line and a defense that didn’t close out games as it did in leading the team to an 11-5 record and a playoff berth.
”In this business, it’s tough to win,” McAdoo said. ”But Panthers Rashaan Gaulden Jersey , it’s also tough to be in a situation we’re in and one thing doesn’t point to winning and losing games.
”Just like each and every game, there are a variety of things that happen in a game that puts you on a path to either winning or losing the ballgame and the same can be said for a season.”
McAdoo said that he talks to Reese every day, the two have a great relationship and they are 100 percent on the same page.
Still, the 40-year-old McAdoo knows he is on the hot seat, along with Reese.

”It’s a great opportunity. I don’t think that way. I’m doing everything I can to help these players put a winning product on the field on Sunday.”
McAdoo told his players ”to flush” the first seven games and focus on the next nine games one at a time.

”We’re going to find out,” Pugh said. ”We’re going to find out what the character of the men in this room is made of and it’s going to start this Sunday.”
Linebacker and defensive captain Jonathan Casillas used the bye week to rest his neck and go to the barber. He feels better and he hopes the defense can be more consistent in the second half of the season.
”I don’t think a good team can sit there and say almost halfway through the season they have one win,” Casillas said.
”We do have a lot of games left and that’s always a positive thing when the ship didn’t start the way you wanted to go, you can always correct it and I feel like we still have a chance to do that.”
The Giants should get some reinforcements next week. Casillas, wide receiver
Sterling Shepard (ankle) and backup linebacker Calvin Munson (leg) should play
this weekend.
Defensive end Olivier Vernon (ankle) and center Weston Richburg (concussion) are a little more uncertain Cheap Malik Jefferson Jersey , but they are getting closer to playing.
Besides getting players back, the Giants need to make a few more big plays when the game is on the line.
”If we could tell you, we wouldn’t be in the position right now,” Vernon said of the lack of big plays.
”It was just, I guess, lack of communication and it’s on us as a defense to get that right. We’ve just been trying to work on it, getting better as far as communicating where guys need to be at and it’s just a process. We’ve got to keep progressing each and every day and each and every week.”
Running back Shane Vereen blamed the start on the team failing to play to its ability and the mindset of the team not being where it should have been.

Siemian sat out the last series of the first half as trainers examined his non-throwing shoulder. He was injured when he lunged in an attempt to stop an interception return for a touchdown by Janoris Jenkins.
Siemian threw two interceptions in the first half.

Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian hurt his left shoulder while diving to stop an interception return for a touchdown and is questionable to return.
After being picked off by New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins Authentic DaeSean Hamilton Jersey , Siemian lunged to stop him down the sideline late in the first half. Siemian headed to the bench to be looked at by the trainers as backup Brock Osweiler trotted out to the field on the next possession.
Siemian is 11 of 23 for 148 yards and two interceptions.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has suffered a right shoulder injury in the second quarter and is doubtful to return against the Arizona Cardinals.
Winston came away holding his throwing shoulder after taking a hit midway through the quarter with the Buccaneers trailing 21-0. He was replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick on the next series after throwing 51 yards on 5-of-10 passing.
Earlier Sunday afternoon, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone and the team said he could miss the rest of the season.

The Oakland Raiders held a moment of silence and kept the torch that honors late owner Al Davis unlit as part of a pregame ceremony for those affected by the wine country wildfires.
Former Raiders receiver Cliff Branch announced the tribute. Branch lost his home in the fires this past week.
The Raiders have lit a torch at the Coliseum in honor of Davis for every game since his death in October 2011.
The blazes have been blamed for at least 40 deaths and destroyed some 5 Authentic Nikita Kucherov Jersey ,700 structures.
Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch once again was the only player from either team to sit during the national anthem.

Aaron Rodgers has a broken collarbone and ”could miss the rest of the
season.”
The Green Bay Packers made the announcement about their star quarterback in the third quarter at Minnesota. The Packers also posted on their official Twitter account that ”there’s a chance he could miss the rest of the season.”
Brett Hundley has taken over since Rodgers was hurt on the second drive of the game. The Vikings lead 17-10.
The Packers have also ruled out cornerback Quinten Rollins (ankle) and left guard Lane Taylor (ankle/knee) with injuries suffered during the game.

Rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard has replaced Brian Hoyer for the San Francisco 49ers in the second quarter against the Washington Redskins.
Beathard’s grandfather, Bobby, was a Super Bowl-winning general manager for the Redskins decades ago.
Beathard Authentic Josh Allen Jersey , a third-round draft pick out of Iowa, came in with the Niners trailing 14-0. He threw his first NFL pass on his second play, a 13-yard gain to Garrett Celek.
Hoyer was 4 for 11 for 34 yards and the 49ers managed to gain a total of only 39 yards and two first downs in their first four possessions.

There are blue skies and relatively clear air over the Oakland Coliseum two hours before the Raiders are set to kick off their game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Raiders had been forced to alter their practice schedule this week because the air in the area was deemed dangerous because of smoke from the fires in wine country.
The NFL had been monitoring the situation to determine whether the game would need to be moved. But the air cleared up Saturday in Oakland and the quality is rated as good on game day.

Mitchell Trubisky has held up well early in his first NFL road start.
Although the Bears didn’t score in the first quarter with their rookie quarterback calling the signals, they got five first downs and gained 42 yards in their first two series.
Trubisky – the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2017 – was 2 for 4 for 29 yards.
The former North Carolina standout is the first rookie to start at quarterback for Chicago since Kyle Orton in 2005.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was carted off the field with a right shoulder injury, and the team said his return was questionable.
Rodgers took a hard hit from pass-rushing Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr. Rodgers landed on his throwing arm as he fell after his second-down throw was dropped by tight end Martellus Bennett midway through the first quarter. Rodgers yelled at Barr as he walked off Authentic Henrik Lundqvist Jersey , but no penalty was called.
Backup Brett Hundley entered the game as Rodgers was examined inside the blue medical tent on the sideline. Rodgers was taken to the locker room on a cart.

NEW YORK (AP) The NFL has appointed Dr. Nicholas Theodore chairman of the head Authentic Yonder Alonso Jersey , neck and spine committee, which plays a major role in the league’s health and safety initiatives.
Theodore is a professor of neurosurgery Seahawks Dontae Johnson Jersey , orthopedics and biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is director of the Hopkins Neurosurgical Spine Center.
He also has served as neurosurgeon for the Arizona Cardinals and worked as a consultant for baseball’s Arizona Diamondbacks and the NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes.
