But news coming out of Los Angeles Rams camp Tuesday may be even worse.11-year veteran Aqib Talib will Brandon Allen Jersey undergo ankle surgery that will sideline him for an uncertain extended period of time, head coach Sean McVay said Tuesday.

Talib, who was acquired by the Rams (3-0) over the offseason in a trade withthe Denver Broncos, had his ankle rolled on by Chargers receiver Tyrell Williams in the second half of a 35-23 victory Sunday. Initially doctors ruled the injury to be a high ankle sprain and multiple reports denoted Talib would likely miss 4-6 weeks, but after an MRI and second opinion Tuesday Ramik Wilson Jersey Black Friday , McVay relayed the more daunting news.Talib, 32,has two pass breakups and a forced fumble in three games so far this season. On a positive note, McVay also noted Marcus Peters, who left Sunday’s game with a calf injury, remains listed as just day-to-day. Guaranteed prize pool tournaments on FanDuel and DraftKings have become a strategic focus for daily fantasy players at the same time the NFL becomes more of a passing league. With scoring up https://www.ramsfanstore.com/Todd-Gurley-II-Jersey , a strategy of stacking — pairing a QB with his pass-catchers — has shown to be the best way to win big tournaments. Winning lineups last week featured Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky (300-plus passing yards, 2 passing TDs, 80-plus rushing yards and a rushing TD) paired with tight end Trey Burton and running back Tarik Cohen. Many of the top lineups also featured another running back from the same game, as New England Patriots RB James White had eight catches and two receiving touchdowns with nearly 100 all-purpose yards. The traditional method of stacking in daily fantasy tournaments has leaned on pairing a quarterback with a wide receiver or tight end. But the modern NFL has shown pass-catching backs to be valuable components of stacks. Using DailyRoto’s daily fantasy lineup optimizer we are able to identify a few unconventional stacks that focus on QB and pass-catching RB targets.OAKLAND: QB Derek Carr plus RB Jalen Richard and WR Jordy Nelson or TE Jared CookRichard ranks 12th in the NFL in market share of targets this year, receiving 16.3 percent of all Oakland passing targets despite playing on just 35 percent of snaps this season. With Marshawn Lynch injured, Richard and Doug Martin will receive elevated playing time and with Amari Cooper traded to Dallas it is Richard that will see an expanded role and benefit even more in PPR formats. Oakland is projected to be playing from behind as a 3-point underdog at home and the game flow should leave Richard on the field. DailyRoto has Richard projected for 15 percent of his team’s targets and a top 5 value at the position. The stack of Carr-Richard-Nelson or Carr-Richard-Cook will cost you less than $15 https://www.ramsfanstore.com ,000 of total salary cap on DraftKings, provides top 5 values at each position and allows you to spend up at other positions.LOS ANGELES RAMS: QB Jared Goff plus RB Todd Gurley and WR Robert Woods or WR Brandin CooksThe Rams have a 32 1/2-point implied team total in the betting markets and Las Vegas expects either the Rams or Chiefs to finish as the highest scoring individual team. Gurley is on pace for 32 touchdowns this season, which would break the current record of 31, and already has three receiving touchdowns and 270 yards through the air. Gurley is averaging five targets per game and has a steady receiving floor. If Goff is going to pay off his price tag ($8,500 on FanDuel and $6,000 on DraftKings) and win daily fantasy tournaments he will need to throw for 300-plus yards and generate three or more touchdowns. If he is to do that it will likely go through Gurley Los Angeles Rams Customized Jerseys , Woods and Brandin Cooks. Cooper Kupp’s status for the Sunday matchup with the Packers is still on the unlikely side and if he sits, DailyRoto has Woods and Cooks projected to split 50 percent of the passing targets. Unlike last week’s matchup with the 49ers, when the Rams were able to take their foot off the gas in the second half, Sean McVay will want to keep the pressure on to stay ahead of Aaron Rodgers. Woods and Cooks are projected to top 180 yards receiving and can be stacked either together or with Gurley to generate tournament-winning upside.

It may seem funny to give a game ball to the Rams “mike” linebacker in a game where the opposition rushed for 190 yards Samson Ebukam Jersey , but here we go. Littleton came up big when it needed most.During Seattle’s final push to get back into field goal range at the end of the game, Littleton made two stellar plays. The first was when he leapt with both arms in the air like he was playing volleyball in Hermosa Beach, and swatted down Russell Wilson’s pass attempt. The next play Littleton blitzed up the middle, but didn’t over commit, and consequently remained in front of Wilson as he scampered backward and to the sideline, only to toss the ball away. The Rams were a completion and field goal from losing the game, and thanks to Littleton they escaped. Oh yeah, plus he blocked another punt. Robert WoodsWith Brandin Cooks and Cooper Kupp out of the game due to concussion protocol, Robert Woods valiantly carried the load with a little help from Josh Reynolds at times. At times Woods really looks like a throwback from the Greatest Show on Turf, silky smooth like Isaac Bruce and always in the right place. Woods finished with five receptions for 92 yards, to go with a 56-yard jetsweep.Jared GoffIt was fun to see Jared Goff have to play with some adversity in the form of losing two of his favorite targets and facing a bit more pressure. Though circumstances changed, his poise seemed the same. Sure a ball slipped out of his hand and he threw another red zone pick, but he just kept battling. He ended up 23/32 for 321 yards. His rating was low, 76.0, but that was partly due to his Hail Mary interception at the end of the first half. Goff seems officially ready to play in hostile environments. Cooper KuppThough Kupp only played in the first half, he had six catches for 90 yards and a touchdown. Coming into the season I wondered if Kupp would improve much since he already seemed so polished coming out of Eastern Washington. But Kupp seems to have become an even more reliable target for Jared Goff Authentic Austin Blythe Jersey , and is currently on pace to end up with 76 receptions for over 1,100 yards and about 13 touchdowns.Todd GurleyYardage-wise it wasn’t a monster day for Gurley, but he seemed in control when tapped and netted three more touchdowns. At times the offense leaned heavily on the pass, but Gurley was ready to roll and extend plays at plenty of critical junctures. When you look at how running backs often hit an early wall in their careers, perhaps “under-usage” isn’t the worst thing in the world. McVay knows dude.Los Angeles Rams vs. Los Angeles Chargers: 10 deep dive observations Ten observations from Los Angeles Rams vs. Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3. 1.Spreading the ball around, but not too much. The Rams have had only three receivers catch a pass this season between Robert Woods, Brandin Cooks and Cooper Kupp. Extenuating factors like injuries to Pharoh Cooper and Mike Thomas have probably forced the team’s hand, but the lack of variety is interesting. 2.Robert Woods takes the lead. Woods has now been targeted 29 times this season and has at least nine targets per game - hauling in 10 receptions on 11 targets against the Chargers. Woods continues to feast on matchups manufactured by Sean McVay and from the focus of defenses on Brandin Cooks. However, Cooks is still tops in average yards per catch and total yards. 3.Is measurable pass rush becoming a concern? The immeasurable pressure and impact created by Los Angeles’ fearsome defensive tackles is obvious, but the Rams again generated just one sack against the Chargers. Ndamukong Suh got his first in a Los Angeles uniform, but overall, the team is fifth from the bottom of the league in sack rate per pass attempt. Still, Aaron and Donald and Suh were credited with “at least five quarterback pressures” each by Pro Football Focus.4.A high scoring rate, but on sustainable drives. Los Angeles is tied for third in the league with 34 points per game, but is also holding the ball for 32:18 per game, higher than the two teams above them in scoring average (Kansas City and New Orleans.)5.Corey Littleton is quietly one of the league’s most impactful linebackers. Where have you gone Youth Jared Goff Jersey , Alec Ogletree? Littleton turned in another big performance against the Chargers, recording 10 combined tackles and his punt block in all 52 defensive snaps. Littleton is 13th in the league with 24 combined tackles.6.The Rams most common offensive lineup is stunningly balanced. With Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, Woods, Cooper Kupp, Cooks, Tyler Higbee and the five original offensive line starters, Los Angeles has run 138 plays. 69 passing plays and 69 rushing plays. Of those plays, a huge 38 percent have gone for first downs.7.Sam Shields in the spotlight. After a slowly increasing diet of snaps, Shields will be thrust into duty between the injuries to Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters. Shields led all corners and had his most snaps on defense with 37 (71 percent of the total) this week since Week One of 2016 when he played 62 snaps with Green Bay against Jacksonville. 8.Higbee’s longest play of the season. The tight ends are still on the backburner in the passing game’s plans, but Tyler Higbee still played 75 percent of the snaps and caught both of his targets for 35 yards. 9.Lack of preseason play rust is gone. After missing a few deep connections to Woods in the first game of the season, Goff’s deep ball is back. According to Pro Football Focus, he completed 9-of-11 pass attempts of 10-plus yards downfield and 2-for-2 for 75 yards and a score on throws 20-plus yards downfield in an overall monstrous day.10.Blythe continues to impress. Jamon Brown may be sitting for a long time. Austin Blythe didn’t surrender a pressure in 38 pass blocking attempts again on Sunday. He also received a 77.2 run blocking grade from PFF.

The Kansas City Chiefs will phase in a new tailgating policy this season http://www.kansascitychiefsteamonline.com/dee-ford-jersey , as first reported by Blair Kerkhoff of the Kansas City Star. The skinny: Once the Chiefs’ game begins at Arrowhead Stadium, tailgaters will be asked to either move into the stadium or out of the parking lot.Chiefs president Mark Donovan said the Chiefs are following a league-wide best practice, per Kerkhoff:“The big reason is safety and security,” Donovan said, per Kerkhoff. When considering the change http://www.kansascitychiefsteamonline.com/dustin-colquitt-jersey , it’s important to keep in mind it comes five years after a death in the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot. The Thormans had full coverage of the incident back in 2013 here. Also, Kerkhoff notes the Kansas City Royals, who use the same lots, clear their parking lots by the second inning. While I understand the push for the change given the safety concerns, there is no denying the Chiefs are messing with the fabric of what makes them the Chiefs on this one. Tailgating is a major part of what makes going to Arrowhead Stadium fun http://www.kansascitychiefsteamonline.com/ron-parker-jersey , and I know of plenty of people that prefer to take in the game-day experience by listening to or watching from the parking lot. If you could sum up the first three games for the Green Bay Packers’ offense in two words they would be “slow start.”The second halfcomeback against the Chicago Bears in Week 1 and the ill fated attempt to make a game out of it last Sunday against Washington illustrated the biggest challenge for Green Bay this far: sluggish starts in two of three games by the offense has put the team in a hole at halftime.Aaron Rodgers is playing on one bad knee and possibly two given reports he injured his hamstring on Sunday. He isn’t as mobile as he usually is. This means the Packers should be running a quick Cheap Kevin King Jersey , dink and dunk offense as that has been proven to work since Rodgers got hurt in Week 1.Instead, as was on display against Washington, they tried to look for big plays to develop which in turn leads Rodgers to revert to his bad habit of holding onto the ball too long. As a quarterback with an injured leg you can’t do that and when the right side of your offensive line is beat up, you REALLY can’t do that. The word that must describe the offense going forward is “patience.” Chew up yards, be surgical and get the ball out of Rodgers’ hands as fast as possible. Can they adapt? Coach Mike McCarthy’s uncanny ability to cling to a script is his Achilles’ heel. It’s clear what works for the Packers now. They have to go that route. Sticking with what hasn’t is a fool’s errand. We’ll see what happens against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but it’s safe to say not many feel McCarthy has learned his lesson. There’s more on the offense needing to develop patience as well as how Oren Burks made a big first impression in today’s cheese curds.Analysis: Green Bay Packers’ pinball offense must also show patience—PackersNews.comThe Packers will always live and die by their offense and the offense has to get used to playing shorter ball while Rodgers’ is hurt. Anything else is a risky proposition.Packers rookie WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling earns high praise for special teams work—Packers WireValdes-Scantling has been the only rookie receiver active for all three games and that isn’t an accident. His speed makes him dangerous on special teams and if he ever develops as a receiver the Packers may have another weapon on their hands.Rock Report: Unforgettable!—Packers.comBurks made an impression on his very first snap after missing the first two games of his rookie season. Larry McCarren breaks down Burks stopping an Adrian Peterson run where, had Burks not attempted the tackle, he could have made a big play.More Aaron Jones could mean less stress on Aaron Rodgers—ESPNJones only had seven carries against Washington. He’s clearly the best running back on the team yet McCarthy wants to continue with a “by committee” approach. That won’t continue long if Jones continues to make plays.Colorado cafe closed to ‘bear shenanigans’—UPIDon’t feel bad http://www.packerscheapstore.com/nick-perry-jersey-cheap , Packers fans. Khalil Mack is wrecking everything, including a freezer.Packers expected to clear Nick Perry & activate him from PUP list, per report It appears that the Green Bay Packers will finally be getting their top edge rusher back on the field this week. Outside linebacker Nick Perry missed all of the team’s OTA and minicamp practices this year due to his ankle surgery in the spring, and he has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start training camp as a result of the same issue. However, Perry has been ramping up his individual work during open practices over the last week, and it sounds like he is ready to return. To that end, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported on Sunday that the team expects to clear Perry to return to practice and thereby remove him from the PUP list. Perry would be eligible to practice immediately. The Packers have a pair of open practices scheduled this week, working outside at Ray Nitschke Field on Monday and Tuesday in advance of their trip to Oakland for a preseason game against the Raiders on Friday evening. If Perry is indeed activated and he suffers no setbacks in practice http://www.packerscheapstore.com/davante-adams-jersey-cheap , he may receive some limited snaps on Friday. This would be a massive boost for the Packers’ pass rush, at least off the edge. Perry has the most total sacks for the Packers over the past two years with 18, including seven in 2017 (which came in second to Clay Matthews’ 7.5). Perry’s presence also would provide defensive coordinator Mike Pettine with a versatile player who can play linebacker in an odd front or put his hand down and rush from a three-point stance in 4-3 looks. So far, the Packers have seen just one reserve outside linebacker impress in training camp, as Reggie Gilbert has appeared to be deserving of the #3 job behind Perry and Matthews. A full season of good health from Perry will be critical for the Packers’ defense as it looks to build on last year’s 26th-place ranking in points allowed.

As of the creation of the Cincinnati Bengal’s 53-man roster on Saturday afternoon Womens Ryan Glasgow Jersey , linebacker Vontaze Burfict is now officially on the Reserve/Suspended by the Commissioner list. What does that mean? Here’s a list of things Burfict cannot do before the Monday heading into Week 5 of the NFL season, while suspended.Suspension List Rules:Cannot attend or watch practice.Cannot be present at Paul Brown Stadium. (This is why Burfict is not in the Bengals’ 2018 team photo.)Cannot have any contact with Bengals personnel or Bengals teammates.Cannot exchange game plans, playbooks, plays or videos on any electronic device relating to the Bengals.Cannot engage in football-related activities, workouts or discussions with teammates, even off-site.Cannot attend NFL games, even as spectator, including road games.Cannot attend news conferences of any kind relating to the Bengals or NFL.Burfict can workout on his own, which he’ll hopefully be doing to stay in game-shape and be ready for action upon his return. That’s especially important because he didn’t play in the preseason at all and actually injured himself prior to the start of training camp as well as during training camp. So, he’ll need to get healthy and ready for Week 5 without the help of the Bengals. When Burfict returns in Week 5, the Bengals will need to waive a player to make room.Despite a slow start this summer, Bengals LB Malik Jefferson could be the real deal You can definitely see potential in rookie linebacker Malik Jefferson. The Indianapolis Colts have fourth-and-one from midfield with 5:44 remaining in the first half of the Bengals vs. Colts preseason finale. Indianapolis shows single-back formation, strong left (where the tight end lines up), twins left (two wide receivers). Cincinnati responds with nickel, placing Jefferson and Hardy Nickerson at linebacker. Colts quarterback Phillip Walker secured the snap and handed off to running back Branden Oliver.Jordan Willis, Sam Hubbard, Josh Tupou (another guy who made the roster with a strong preseason outing), and Andrew Brown neutralized the Colts offensive line, allowing Jefferson and Nickerson to roam freely. Jefferson approached the wall of humanity, feeling out vulnerabilities while sliding down the line of scrimmage. Eventually he found the lane Oliver targeted Womens Jordan Evans Jersey , lowering his right shoulder and dropping the running back for no-gain. Turnover on downs.Bengals football.Earlier during the possession, Jefferson, playing SAM in a base 4-3 alignment, shot through the line of scrimmage, harassing Oliver. With help from Nickerson and Hubbard, the Colts lost a yard on the play.Jefferson played a team-leading 67 defensive snaps during Cincinnati’s loss to the Colts last Thursday. He and Nickerson tied for a team-leading seven tackles, adding two passes defensed. Pro Football Focus ranked Jefferson as the second-best defender behind Nickerson, with the top score in coverage. We ran a small story on Jefferson earlier this year, highlighting one quote in particular.“He is everything you want athletically,” said an anonymous scout. “But I thought the instincts were off and the production was off. He didn’t get to the plays he should. He’s what I call a clear-view linebacker. If there’s nobody blocking him, if the defensive line keeps everybody off and if it’s right there between the tackles he can hammer you. But go try and find the ball, I thought he was really lacking. He looks just like you draw guys up. ‘Oh, my God, you want a linebacker, that’s the guy you want.’”Jefferson isn’t expected to see much action on defense in his rookie year. He’s listed as the team’s backup weak-side linebacker behind Jordan Evans. Further complicating playing time probabilities is Vontaze Burfict’s October return, presumably knocking Evans to a backup role and Jefferson as a third-stringer.Cincinnati will start Preston Brown in the middle, flanked by Nick Vigil (strong-side), and Jordan Evans (weak-side). Jefferson might not play much this year, but he has the potential to turn into a playmaker for the Bengals’ defense.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears linebacker Roquan Smith could be the exception to an unwritten NFL preseason rule.

The team’s first-round draft pick could become one of the few key players who actually appear in Chicago’s fifth and final preseason game Thursday against Buffalo.

NFL teams usually rest starters and key players in the last preseason game as they gear practices toward the regular-season opener. But Smith held out 29 days before signing his contract and has had just six practices. He’s missed practice time this week with left hamstring tightness, making it unlikely he will play Saturday against Kansas City.

Getting Smith into the final preseason game would serve a purpose.

“I think his situation is a little bit different because he hasn’t had the playing time,” coach Matt Nagy said after Thursday’s practice. “I think what we’ll do is we’ll monitor where he’s at as far as his health Youth John Kelly Jersey , and if we feel like it’s safe to get him reps (Thursday), which he obviously needs, then we’ll do that. If we think it’s not safe, then we’re not going to do it.”

Smith did not practice Tuesday because of the hamstring, and then practiced only on a limited basis and not during team scrimmages on Wednesday and Thursday.

Nagy stopped just short of saying Smith would not play in Saturday’s noon game.

“I’m not gonna say that, but I would say right now it’s, with him not being out here full go the last two days, it’s been a little more (than) a little tough,” Nagy said.

The Bears open the regular season Sept. 9 in a Sunday night game at Green Bay, and the goal is to have Smith ready for that game regardless of whether he plays in the preseason.

“You have to be so careful with those injuries because all of a sudden you think you’re good Authentic Customized Falcons Jerseys , and then you put somebody in, and then it compounds it,” Nagy said. “We want to stay away from the compounded injuries.”

Smith is not worried about the effect missing so much practice time and preseason games could have on his play.

“I feel very comfortable in myself and my abilities,” Smith said. “So whenever coach feels it’s right for me to get out there, then it’ll be that.”

NOTES

S DeAndre Houston-Carson suffered a fractured forearm in Saturday’s 24-23 preseason win at Denver and will be unavailable to start the regular season. Houston-Carson has been a special-teams contributor and ranked as the fourth safety. … TE Adam Shaheen is suffering from both ankle and foot sprains, Nagy said. Initially the Bears called it an ankle sprain. Shaheen is unlikely to play again until the regular-season opener, if not later. … The Bears could get their first look in game action at WR Taylor Gabriel, who injured his foot during the training camp practices in Bourbonnais. Gabriel returned to full-speed practice this week. … CB Prince Amukamara has returned to practice after an ankle injury and likely will be available for Saturday’s game.

When Brewers pitchers went over the strengths and weaknesses of Cincinnati’s hitters to prepare for their series Avonte Maddox Color Rush Jersey , they included reliever Michael Lorenzen in the mix.

They need to do more studying.

Lorenzen hit the second grand slam by a Reds pitcher in a week – and his third homer in his last three at-bats – as Cincinnati pulled away to a 12-3 victory Saturday, ending a seven-game losing streak against Milwaukee.

Lorenzen’s pinch-hit grand slam off Jacob Barnes in the seventh inning completed an eight-run rally, Cincinnati’s biggest of the season. Lorenzen’s fifth career homer drew a curtain call from the crowd of 24,640.

”It was a surreal feeling, for sure,” Lorenzen said. ”I love this game and everything about it.”

It was the reliever’s second homer in the series. He also had a solo shot Friday during Milwaukee’s 8-2 win.

”The guy’s swinging the bat really well, that’s for sure,” Brewers manager Craig Counsell said. ”We treat him as a position player. We covered him in scouting meetings. We’re going to have to make some adjustments.”

One week earlier, Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani hit a grand slam off Cubs left-hander Brian Duensing at Great American Ball Park.

Lorenzen avoided the temptation to swing at a slider Durham Smythe Color Rush Jersey , and then hit a fastball deep to left field.

”The Reds have always put together some good-hitting pitchers, going back to Travis Wood and those guys,” Brewers catcher Erik Kratz said. ”You have to know who those guys are and where they want the ball and not throw it there.”

Tyler Mahle struck out a career-high 12 batters in 5 2/3 innings, three shy of the Reds’ rookie record. David Hernandez (3-0) pitched the top of the seventh.

The Reds fanned 18 batters, a club record for a nine-inning game.

The Brewers’ depleted bullpen couldn’t hold a one-run lead in the seventh. Cincinnati’s first eight batters reached safely against three relievers, with left-hander Mike Zagurski (0-1) taking the loss in his first major league appearance since 2013.

The NL Central leaders also were missing two starting position players. Christian Yelich left Thursday’s game with back tightness, and Ryan Braun came out of Friday’s game with the same issue. Counsell said Braun could be available on Sunday.

Eric Thames homered off Mahle, his 14th home run in 22 career games against Cincinnati. Thames hit 10 last year, the most by a Brewers player against the Reds in one season.

LORENZEN LORE

The last pinch-hit grand slam by a Reds player came from Chris Heisey on April 13 Josh Allen Jersey , 2014, against Tampa Bay. Lorenzen’s three homers this season are the most by a Reds pitcher since Micah Owings had three in 2009. The last major league pitcher to homer in three straight at-bats was Colorado’s Mike Hampton in 2001.

POWER SURGE

In the last eight days, Reds pitchers have produced four homers – three by Lorenzen, one by DeSclafani. For the season, Lorenzen is 4 for 6 with three homers and six RBIs.

MAHLE’S STRIKEOUTS

Mahle’s 12 strikeouts were the most by a Reds pitcher since Amir Garrett also fanned 12 Orioles on April 19, 2017. The club record for strikeouts by a rookie is 15 by Gary Nolan on June 7, 1967, against the Giants.

TRADING PLACES

With the game out of hand, Kratz moved to the mound for the eighth inning – his third career pitching appearance – and gave up a pair of runs.

”I’d rather catch nine innings and do high-fives Authentic Louis Domingue Jersey ,” he said.

REDS DEAL

The Reds sent minor league catcher Joe Hudson to the Angels for cash. The 27-year-old Hudson has never played in the majors. He batted .235 with no homers and three RBIs in 16 games for Triple-A Louisville this season.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Brewers: RHP Zach Davies had a setback in what was expected to be his final minor league rehab assignment as he recovers from a sore shoulder. He lasted only three innings and gave up 10 runs and three hits for Class A Wisconsin on Friday night, leaving after just 48 pitches because of a sore back.

Reds: RHP Homer Bailey will make his fourth rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Louisville. He’s been sidelined since June 2 because of a sore right knee. Bailey is 1-7 with a 6.68 ERA.

UP NEXT

Brewers: Freddy Peralta (3-0) makes his fifth start. The Brewers are 4-0 in his starts. Opponents are batting .093 against the right-hander.

Reds: Matt Harvey (3-5) makes his 10th start for the Reds, who got him from the Mets in a trade for catcher Devin Mesoraco on May 8. Harvey has allowed six runs in his last three starts spanning 17 2/3 innings.

Bill Belichick doesn’t like the NFL telling him what to do, right down to the jerseys his players wear in practice.

Two years ago, the NFL ordered Belichick to stop having players practice in numberless jerseys, as he had been doing in Organized Team Activities. So now Belichick has players wearing numbers in OTAs. But many Patriots are wearing numbers that they won’t wear when the season starts.

That’s why running back Sony Michel is wearing No. 51 at OTAs, even though when the season starts he has to wear a running back number, which in the NFL means numbers between 20 and 49.

Belichick scoffed about the significance of giving rookies their numbers at this point in the offseason.

鈥淩eally not too worried about all the important stuff like that — numbers and what color gloves you wear and all of that,鈥?Belichick said Sven Andrighetto Jersey , via ESPN. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 not really at the top of the list right now. Trying to learn football, trying to become a team, trying to get better each day — that鈥檚 really where our focus is.鈥?/p>

All of the Patriots’ draft picks are currently practicing with numbers in the 50s, even players like Michel and rookie quarterback Danny Etling, who obviously won’t be wearing 50s numbers when the season starts. Undrafted rookies are wearing numbers in the 60s and 70s.

Belichick liked practicing without numbers because he felt it forced players to communicate better and not rely on jersey numbers to identify each other. It鈥檚 a tactic Belichick learned from studying Hall of Fame Steelers coach Chuck Noll, who often had his players wear jerseys without numbers in practice. Now that the NFL has prevented the Patriots from going numberless, Belichick has found the next-best thing.

TORONTO — A year ago at this time Womens Deryk Engelland Jersey , Francisco Liriano was pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays amid speculation that he would be traded.

The left-hander is again a subject of trade speculation as he returns to the Rogers Centre on Friday night as the starting pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, who will try to end a nine-game losing streak in the opener of a four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Tigers (36-46) lost 4-2 to the Oakland Athletics at Comerica Park on Thursday afternoon. The Blue Jays (37-43) had the day off after completing a 3-4 trip with a heartbreaking 7-6 loss to the Houston Astros on Wednesday on Alex Bregman’s two-run, walk-off homer.

Both teams are expected to trade some veteran players by the July 31 deadline for deals without waivers.

Liriano (3-3, 3.94 ERA) will face Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman (0-5, 6.80). Both pitchers will make their second start after returning from the disabled list.

The Blue Jays did trade Liriano on July 31 to the Astros, who went on to win the World Series. In the deal, Toronto received outfielder Teoscar Hernandez Youth Danny Shelton Jersey , who has become a regular.

Liriano signed with the Tigers as a free agent on Feb. 23.

He will make his 12th start of the season in the series opener. Liriano went on the DL with a strained right hamstring after making his start on May 26 and did not pitch again until Saturday when he took the loss at Cleveland, allowing three runs (two earned), four hits and three walks in four innings.

All of the runs came in a 40-pitch first inning. He did not allow another hit in the next three innings.

“I was rushing things,” Liriano said. “I hadn’t pitched in a while and I was trying to do too much, trying to do more than I can do, and I ended up missing pitches. … Everything feels great. Leg feels good, body feels nice.”

The 34-year-old has faced the Blue Jays seven times in his career Seattle Seahawks Jerseys Womens , including five starts, going 1-4 with a 5.40 ERA. He last pitched against Toronto on Aug. 5 with Houston when he took the loss after allowing one run, one hit and one walk in two-thirds of an inning in relief.

In 18 career appearances, including 17 starts, at the Rogers Centre, Liriano is 8-4 record with a 4.03 ERA and 98 strikeouts.

Stroman also returned from the DL on Saturday when he allowed six hits and one walk while striking out five in five scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels. He did not factor in the decision of a game the Blue Jays won 4-1.

He had not pitched since May 8 because of inflammation in his right shoulder, a problem that shortened his spring training. Stroman believes that in retrospect he probably should have taken a couple of more weeks to build up the shoulder before starting to pitch in the regular season.

“When I’m going good Terrelle Pryor Sr. Color Rush Jersey , I feel like I’m pitching at 80, 85 percent and that’s where I’m at right now,” Stroman said. “Earlier in the season, I was max effort, I was pitching at 100 percent every pitch and now I’m back to being very free and easy. Once I’m free and easy, I can do whatever I want.”

Stroman said the shoulder “feels way better.”

“I’m moving way easier, I can pause Chargers Authentic Jerseys , I can mess with my delivery now, I can do many things I wasn’t able to do previously in the year,” he added. “Feels great.”

In two career starts against the Tigers, he is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA.

The Tigers won two of three games against the Blue Jays at Comerica Park on June 1-3. Detroit will try to win its first season series against Toronto since 2013. The Tigers lost two of three games at the Rogers Centre last season, the fourth straight series they have dropped in Toronto.

Tennessee running back DeMarco Murray will miss his second straight game with the Titans ruling him out against the Kansas City Chiefs in their AFC wild-card game Saturday.

Coach Mike Mularkey had refused to rule the veteran running back out until Thursday.

Murray hurt his right knee late in a loss Dec. 24 to the Los Angeles Rams and has not practiced since. Murray finished the season with a career-worst 659 yards rushing, but he ran for six touchdowns. He also caught 39 passes for 266 yards with another TD.

Mularkey says starting left guard Quinton Spain is questionable for the Titans (9-7) against the Chiefs (10-6) because of his back.

Both tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Kalan Reed were cleared from the concussion protocol.

PHOENIX — Measurable rain fell Saturday in Phoenix for the first time in three months Cedric Ogbuehi Jersey , much-welcomed relief for a very parched city. Luckily for the Diamondbacks, Paul Goldschmidt’s drought ended a long time before then.

Goldschmidt, the Diamondbacks’ franchise icon and top-producing offensive player for several seasons, started the season in quite a dry spell, too. A slugger who has homered at least 33 times and driven in at least 110 runs three times since 2013, Goldschmidt inexplicably saw his average plunge to as low as .198 on May 22.

Not surprisingly, his team was faltering as he did. The Diamondbacks opened the season 21-8, but during a dreadful May in which they went 8-19, they slid to 26-26 on May 27.

Since then, there’s been little stopping Goldschmidt and little stopping the Diamondbacks, who have reclaimed the NL West lead by going 13-5 in their last 18 games heading into the finale of a four-game series with the New York Mets on Sunday.

Not surprisingly, Goldschmidt has been the man in the middle of it.

Still, Mets left-hander Steven Matz (3-4) managed to stop the Diamondbacks on Saturday night at Chase Field, limiting them to a run over 6 2-3 innings in a 5-1 New York victory. It was an anomaly of sorts because Arizona had won the first two games of the four-game series and the Mets had dropped four in a row and 12 of their previous 13.

However Javorius Allen Jersey , Goldschmidt drove in the only Arizona run, giving him four RBIs in the series and 15 in his last 10 games, a stretch in which he’s hit six homers and raised his average to .261.

“It was a little bit of a slow night for us offensively,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. “We did have some opportunities, but we couldn’t get a big hit.”

Or the kind of hits Goldschmidt has been giving them almost nightly.

Michael Conforto had a couple of big hits for the Mets, most importantly a three-run homer in the second inning off Diamondbacks starter Patrick Corbin (6-3), the third of Conforto’s career off the left-hander. Conforto also added an RBI double for a Mets offense that had scored three runs or fewer in 11 consecutive games.

“They need to take some confidence out of tonight. They did a really good job,” Mets manager Mickey Callaway said. “We’ve been getting on base more and more the last few games. We got the big hits to get the runners in and we need to keep building that momentum.”

Still, the Diamondbacks will go for the series win Sunday when they send right-hander Clay Buchholz (1-1) to the mound to oppose Mets right-hander Zack Wheeler (2-5).

“We’ve got to make a quick turnaround. (Sunday) is a day game we’ve got to digest this one and get it out of our system and be ready to play some baseball,” Lovullo said.

Buchholz sat out most of last season with the Philadelphia Phillies due to an elbow injury, then was released from his minor league contract by the Kansas City Royals in May. He hooked on with the Diamondbacks franchise shortly after that and has been a pleasant surprise by posting a 3.21 ERA in five starts, including allowing only five earned runs in 24 innings in his first four starts.

Buchholz’s last start was his roughest with Arizona, as he lasted only four innings Tuesday in a 13-8 Diamondbacks win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. He allowed seven hits and six runs, five earned http://www.packersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-oren-burks-jersey , in four innings.

Buchholz faced the Mets in his first start for Arizona, giving up one run on two hits in five innings of what became a 4-1 Mets victory at Citi Field on May 20. He is 0-1 with an 8.59 ERA in two career starts against the Mets, yielding 10 hits and seven runs in 7 1/3 innings.

Mets shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera gives him the most trouble, going 8-for-16 (.500) with two homers and two RBIs against him.

Wheeler last pitched Tuesday, giving up six runs and eight hits while walking four in 5 2/3 innings of an 8-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves.

“It’s not like they were killing him all over the park,” Callaway said. “It was a bloop here and a bloop there. Our starters have been so good, you want them to try to get out of their own jams.”

Wheeler is 2-1 with a 2.13 ERA in four career games against Arizona, giving up 25 hits but only six earned runs while striking out 20 and walking five in 25 1/3 innings.

Goldschmidt is 3-for-12 (.250) against him, while Chris Owings is 4-for-9 (.444).

Wheeler last faced the Diamondbacks on May 15, 2017 but didn’t figure in the decision of what became a 7-3 Arizona win after permitting only one run in six innings.

Justin Reid used to frequent his older brother’s house to watch NFL game film and study game preparations.

The Texans rookie safety was at Stanford then, and the visits gave him a behind-the-scenes look at the NFL life of his older brother, Eric Reid, who was thriving with the San Francisco 49ers. On Friday afternoon, Justin Reid was looking forward to calling his brother back in the Bay Area to talk about Day 1 of his own NFL journey with Houston.

Earlier this week Youth Barkevious Mingo Jersey , the NFL players union filed a non-injury grievance on behalf of Eric Reid, now a free agent after five seasons in San Francisco, including a Pro Bowl rookie season in 2013. Eric Reid has been a strong supporter of former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who in 2016 became the first player to kneel during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality.

Last week, Eric Reid filed a collusion claim similar to one filed by Kaepernick in 2017 where several league owners and executives were deposed, including Texans owner Bob McNair.

Justin Reid said he he hasn’t had a lot of time to digest his feelings on his brother’s decisions – but he supports all of them.

”I’m proud of my brother and supportive of everything he does, the same way I support all of my family members,” Justin Reid said. ”If they believe what they’re doing is right, then they should do it.”

Asked to describe for NFL owners what kind of person his older brother is, Justin Reid vouched for him, emphatically.

”You should just hold a conversation with him,” Justin Reid said. ”I won’t speak for Eric, I’ll let him deliver his own message. But if you held a conversation with him, then you’d really understand what he’s standing for.”

The Texans used their first draft pick on Justin Reid Youth Richard Rodgers Jersey , selecting him 68th overall in the third round. He is expected to compete with Andre Hal at free safety next to strong safety Tyrann Mathieu, who played alongside Eric Reid at LSU.

Coach Bill O’Brien praised Justin Reid for his size, speed and smarts. Reid raised eyebrows at the NFL combine with a 40-yard dash time of 4.40 seconds, second-fastest among safeties.

”He’s a guy that’s a versatile guy who can do some different things for us, help us on special teams and obviously, help us on defense,” O’Brien said. ”He just got here, so we’ll see how he does in our system.”

Reid is hoping that his experience of living vicariously through his brother over the past few years will help him adjust to the NFL. He said he feels like he’s coming into the league with the mentality of a third-year veteran. He said he watched the Texans’ most recent five games from last season and has been studying the playbook to enter camp as prepared as possible.

”I kind of have a feel for how this process goes before having even gone through it,” Reid said. ”It’s still different going through it myself for the first time, but it is nice for having that rough road map and having a feel for how these things go.”

Defensive end Michael Johnson said recently that he wasn’t worried about potentially getting cut by the Bengals because “you control what you can control.”

Johnson found out on Saturday that he has indeed been released by the team. The move saves the Bengals nearly $5 million in cap space and they have spent a lot of draft capital at the position in the last two years by adding Carl Lawson http://www.coltsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-nyheim-hines-jersey , Jordan Willis and Sam Hubbard.

The Bengals also released tight end Ryan Hewitt and offensive lineman T.J. Johnson to get to 53 players. All three players will be eligible to sign with other teams right away.

Linebacker Brandon Bell, defensive back Tyrice Beverette, tight end Moritz Boehringer, wide receiver Devonte Boyd, defensive tackle Andrew Brown, kicker Jonathan Brown, running back Quinton Flowers, H-Back Jordan Franks, cornerback C.J. Goodwin, running back Brian Hill, linebacker Junior Joseph Customized Washington Redskins Jerseys , center Brad Lundblade, wide receiver Jared Murphy, tackle Justin Murray, tackle Kent Perkins, defensive tackle Simeyon Robinson, wide receiver Kayuane Ross, cornerback KeiVarae Russell, wide receiver Ka鈥橰aun White, wide receiver Kermit Whitfield, defensive tackle Eddy Wilson, quarterback Logan Woodside Womens T. J. Watt Jersey , and linebacker Chris Worley were all placed on waivers. Woodside and Brown were both drafted this April.

Quarterback Matt Barkley, H-Back Cethan Carter and safety Trayvon Henderson are headed to injured reserve. Defensive tackle Chris Okoye and cornerback Josh Shaw have been waived/injured and linebacker Vontaze Burfict has been moved to the suspended list for the first four games of the year.

With the two best games of his career coming on consecutive days, designated hitter Evan Gattis has quickly transformed into the Astros‘ hottest hitter – and their current good luck charm.

He’s got a franchise record to prove it, too.

Gattis hit two home runs, including the first of back-to-back shots with Marwin Gonzalez during a seven-run second inning, and the streaking Astros beat the Oakland Athletics 13-5 on Wednesday night for their seventh straight win.

One night after homering and setting a career high with five RBIs, Gattis drove in five again, becoming the first player in franchise history to drive in five in consecutive games.

”It was fun to watch our guys respond to his continued damage at-bats,” Houston manager AJ Hinch said. ”They’re taking his helmet off and rubbing it all over themselves and they’re trying to get as close to him as they can. They want whatever he’s eating, whatever he’s doing during the games.”

Jake Marisnick also homered, Carlos Correa had a two-run triple and Yuli Gurriel had three hits and three RBIs to help Gerrit Cole (8-1) win his sixth straight decision.

Gattis had a sacrifice fly in the first inning Quincy Wilson Jersey , hit a three-run home run off A’s starter Paul Blackburn (1-1) in the second then went deep again with a solo blast off Emilio Pagan in the seventh. Gattis also walked in the eighth.

”He’s white hot,” Cole said. ”Just a great approach right now. He’s obviously put the team on his back a little bit.”

Gattis’ 10 RBIs in two games also ties an Astros record, but the big slugger wouldn’t say he’s necessarily locked in at the plate.

”It never feels like it,” Gattis said. ”You’re about to go hit a ball with a stick and you’re going to get out 70 percent of the time. You have to enjoy the good stuff if you’re going to get mad about the negatives in the game.”

Cole allowed a season-high four runs over six uneven innings, including two home runs, but benefited from the early cushion. The AL leader in strikeouts fanned six and yielded six hits with two walks.

That gives Houston three eight-game winners – Cole, Thursday’s starter Justin Verlander (8-2) and Tuesday’s winner Lance McCullers (8-3).

”Some undesirable results a couple times,” Cole said. ”Fastball command wasn’t poor but it wasn’t as sharp.”

The defending World Series champs moved a season-high 19 games over .500. This is Houston’s longest winning streak since taking seven in a row from Aug. 31-Sept. 6, 2017.

Oakland outfielder Jake Smolinski became the first A’s position player to pitch in a game since utility player Tyler Ladendorf on June 3, 2016. Smolinski allowed a leadoff double to Max Stassi and a two-run home run to Marisnick in the ninth, then retired the next three batters.

”The one thing you really want is don’t get hurt and throw the ball over the middle of the plate http://www.officialducks.com/authentic-adidas-antoine-vermette-jersey , and he did exactly that,” A’s manager Bob Melvin said. ”He was up for it. He’s up for just about anything.”

Khris Davis homered twice for Oakland, his 18th and 19th of the season. Stephen Piscotty also went deep.

The Astros flexed their defensive muscle in the eighth after Matt Olson reached on an error. Marisnick made a leaping catch in center to rob Matt Chapman of a home run, then threw to second baseman Tony Kemp, who relayed to first to double up Olson.

QUICK EXIT

Blackburn retired only four batters and allowed eight runs before departing in the second.

TRAINER’S ROOM

Athletics: Chapman made another handful of stellar defensive plays at third base, one night after getting hit in the left hand by a 92.3 mph fastball from Astros reliever Collin McHugh.

UP NEXT

Verlander (8-2, 2.58 ERA) makes his 15th start in the series finale for Houston on Thursday. Among qualifying pitchers, Verlander leads the majors in ERA and is second in innings pitched (93 1/3) and third in strikeouts (113). Right-hander Frankie Montas (3-0, 1.25) goes for Oakland.
