CALGARY Authentic Tyler Clippard Jersey , Alberta — Fresh off a 5-2 road win over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, the Calgary Flames will look to build on that momentum when they host the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Heading into the afternoon affair at the Scotiabank Saddledome, both the Flames (31-22-9) and Avalanche (32-23-5) are on the outside of the NHL’s Western Conference playoff picture looking in.

“We’re in a dog fight and we know it,” said Calgary defenseman Travis Hamonic following Thursday’s victory that ended a three-game losing streak for the Flames. “We’ve got to start collecting points and stringing some (wins) together.”

Article continues below ...

According to left winger Johnny Gaudreau Authentic Jonathan Allen Jersey , who had a goal and two assists against the Coyotes, the Flames are looking at every game as a must-win situation.

“You see how tight the standings are,” said Gaudreau, who is sitting second in the NHL scoring race with 73 points behind Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov (80 points). “Every game’s important. These points are crucial now with just less than 20 games in the season. Hopefully we can get on a little roll here and try to keep clicking away and keep getting points.”

Calgary coach Glen Gulutzan referred to Thursday’s win over the Coyotes as a step in the right direction.

“We’ve got to get this train rolling here and that’s a start Adidas Jonathan Quick Jersey ,” said Gulutzan, whose move to elevate Sam Bennett to play alongside Gaudreau and Sean Monahan paid off as the trio combined for seven points against the Coyotes. “I thought that they made some plays and they had some energy and what we’re looking for at this time of the year is any sort of spark that we can get. We’re just trying to create some energy and get a spark here with our group.”

Meanwhile, the Avalanche will be looking to bounce back from a 3-2 overtime loss they suffered to the Oilers in Edmonton on Thursday.

“Every game from now on is huge for us,” said rookie center Tyson Jost Wholesale Daniel Kilgore Jersey , who had an assist against the Oilers to extend his point-scoring streak to three games. “Our goal is to be in the playoffs, so we’re going to have to have a lot better than we did (against Edmonton). I know our team’s capable of that.

“Everybody just has to be a little bit better and our compete (level) has to be a little higher. These points are crucial for us because our end goal is the playoffs and we’re not afraid to admit that.”

Left winger Gabriel Bourque said the Avs have extra motivation to win against the Flames because they want to finish their three-game road trip with a 2-0-1 record.

“Both teams are fighting for a playoff spot, so it’s going to be an intense game,” Bourque said. “We’re going to have to be ready. It’ll be a really good road trip if we win and that’ll have to be our mindset.”

Saturday’s outing against the Flames will end a stretch that has seen the Avalanche play 13 of their past 16 games away from the Pepsi Center in Denver.

“Any time you’re on the road and you’re on for an extended period of time Isaac Yiadom Jersey Elite , it is a little bit grueling,” defenseman David Warsofsky told the team website. “People say the last game is always the hardest, and hopefully we can get two points (on Saturday) and head back home with a win.”

NEW YORK (AP) More than 24 hours later Luke Falk Super Bowl LI Jersey , Josh McCown still didn’t quite understand why the New York Jets had a touchdown – and then, just as suddenly, didn’t.

”It’s really the same response as yesterday,” the quarterback said Monday, ”I don’t know.”

The Jets watched Austin Seferian-Jenkins’ 4-yard touchdown-turned-fumble and touchback numerous times, and the controversial call by officials was debated and dissected by Monday morning quarterbacks all over social media and sports talk shows.

Article continues below ...

”We’re not going to cry about it all week,” Jets coach Todd Bowles said. ”We have to go play Miami.”

Al Riveron, the NFL’s senior vice president of officiating, said during a conference call that it was ”clear and obvious” that Seferian-Jenkins fumbled in the fourth quarter of the Jets’ 24-17 loss to New England on Sunday. Riveron was responsible for changing the call from the league’s replay center in New York.

Wide receiver Jermaine Kearse said it was “a B.S. call” after the game , and many Jets fans – and even non-Jets fans – agreed. Confusion still seemed to remain on Monday Adidas Nathan MacKinnon Jersey , even after referee Tony Corrente explained the reversal on Sunday and Riveron detailed his decision.

”The ball was put out of bounds by the offensive player across the goal line and went out of bounds in the end zone,” Riveron said. ”So, by rule, that is a touchback. New England gets the ball, first-and-10 from the 20-yard line going out.”

Dean Blandino and Mike Pereira – both of whom used to hold Riveron’s job – said they thought Seferian-Jenkins had either regained control of the ball in time or that it was too close to overturn.

”Obviously, when it doesn’t go your way, there’s a human element that is very frustrated,” McCown said.

”But unless you can show me a precedent where they’ve gone back and changed the score of a game, for us moving forward, it really doesn’t do any good. It’s gone Authentic Shelby Miller Jersey , it’s over with, and it’s frustrating and we’ll hate it and all that stuff, but for us to continue talking about it just does no good.”

That appeared to be the overwhelming message around the Jets: Sure, they’re not happy, but they’re on to preparing for their next game against the Dolphins in Miami next Sunday.

”They’re not changing the call,” Bowles said. ”We’re not winning the ballgame. We’ve moved on. I don’t really give two shakes about it.”

Added defensive end Leonard Williams: ”It’s pointless to keep watching it and keep watching it.”

Bowles pointed out that the overturned touchdown, which kept it a 10-point deficit for New York instead of just three, wasn’t the only reason the Jets lost to the Patriots in what was an early season battle for first place in the AFC East.

The Jets started fast, scoring on their opening possession for the first time this season and raced out to a 14-0 lead. But the offense couldn’t maintain its efficiency and didn’t reach the end zone again.

A miscommunication between McCown and Robby Anderson resulted in a momentum-shifting interception with 35 seconds left in the first half that Tom Brady turned into a tying touchdown just moments later. The Jets also ran for just 74 yards on 24 carries against the 32nd-ranked defense.

”We opened up and we went down the field and scored for the first time without going three-and-out, and they gave us some opportunities to try and do some things Shaquem Griffin Jersey Elite ,” Bowles said. ”It was a good game plan, but we still need to run the ball more.”

New York’s run defense remains an issue and ranks 28th in the NFL. The Jets’ pass rush has been virtually non-existent, with just seven sacks this season – and none from their defensive linemen.

”If we stop the run a little better, we can rush the passer a little more,” Bowles said. ”Right now, we have some spurts where we did and then had some spurts where we didn’t, so we just have to be more consistent at it and the pass rush will be there.”

The Jets have been one of the league’s early surprises, starting 3-3 in a season when many outside the facility believed New York would have trouble winning any games after a massive roster reconstruction.

With a .500 record, the Jets are certainly in the playoff mix in the AFC. They believe they’ll continue to be there even late in the season.

”Oh, yeah Authentic Robert Golden Jersey , without a doubt,” Williams said. ”Our energy and the way we fight through adversity, like that controversial call with the ref and the touchdown, our defense was still able to go right back out there and get a three-and-out against a great offense. It’s little things like that where I’m looking at my team very proud.”

The Jets have a chance to rebound with a game against a team they’ve already defeated. New York beat Miami 20-6 in Week 3, but the Dolphins are now 3-2 and are coming off an impressive 20-17 comeback victory over Atlanta.

”In order to be a playoff team,” nose tackle Steve McLendon said, ”we have to beat Miami.”

ARE Authentic Dallas Goedert Jersey , Sweden (AP) Sofia Goggia and Lindsey Vonn each had something to celebrate when their season-long rivalry in downhill concluded Wednesday.

Goggia followed up her Olympic downhill gold by claiming the season-long World Cup title in the discipline, while Vonn narrowly beat Goggia to win the race at World Cup finals and record career victory No. 82.

Goggia ended up three points ahead of Vonn in the standings.

Article continues below ...

”It was really a (tough) race but she won the race and I won this,” Goggia said as she hugged the crystal globe trophy. ”It’s always an honor to race her.

”After the gold in Korea I knew that I could also win this cup but it wasn’t easy,” the Italian added. ”I was a bit uncertain after missing a gate in training but I skied well today.”

The only other Italian woman to win the downhill title was Isolde Kostner in 2001 and 2002.

On the men’s side, Beat Feuz finished ahead of Olympic champion Aksel Lund Svindal to take his first career discipline title.

Austrian teammates Vincent Kriechmayr and Matthias Mayer tied for the win, finishing 0.04 seconds ahead of Feuz and 0.12 ahead of Svindal Authentic Phil Niekro Jersey , giving the once-dominant team its first downhill victory of the season.

In a shortened race that was more like a sprint than a full downhill, Vonn clocked 55.65 seconds to finish 0.06 ahead of Goggia.

It was Vonn’s fourth straight World Cup downhill victory, after settling for bronze at the Pyeongchang Olympics behind Goggia and Ragnhild Mowinckel of Norway.

The American is now within four wins of Ingemar Stenmark’s World Cup record of 86.

”I’m really happy to close out the season with a win, and I’m sure (Sofia) is very excited to have the title,” Vonn said. ”Sofia always gives it 110 percent and sometimes she wins, and sometimes she crashes. I feel like she is very similar to myself. We have a great deal of respect for each other and it’s been fun to compete with her this year.”

After crossing the line first and pushing Goggia down to second Martinas Rankin Super Bowl LI Jersey , Vonn needed another racer to finish ahead of Goggia to win the title but the help never came. American skier Alice Mckennis came closest but finished third, 0.28 behind.

”I’ve never suffered so much waiting for the end of a race,” Goggia said. ”But in the end it turned out well.”

It was Mckennis’ second career podium result, more than five years after she won a downhill in St. Anton, Austria.

Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein, the only other woman with a chance of claiming the title Authentic Dalton Schultz Jersey , finished seventh in the race and third in the standings, 115 points behind Goggia.

The start of the race was delayed by snow, wind and fog.

In the men’s standings, Feuz ended up 70 points ahead of Svindal, thanks in large part to his victories in Lake Louise, Alberta; Wengen Patrick Omameh Super Bowl LI Jersey , Switzerland; and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

He became the first Swiss racer to claim the honor since Didier Cuche won the last of his four crystal globes in 2011.

It was a measure of revenge for Feuz, who took bronze behind Svindal and Kjetil Jansrud in the Olympic downhill.

Super-G races are scheduled for Thursday in Are, which will host next season’s world championships.

JACKSONVILLE Authentic Dontae Johnson Jersey , Fla. (AP) D.J. Hayden and Don Carey are remaining teammates, just in another city.

The former Detroit defensive backs agreed to free-agent contracts with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday, according to a person familiar with negotiations.

Both players are expected to sign deals Thursday, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because NFL teams are prohibited from announcing signings until free agency officially begins Wednesday afternoon.

SiriusXM Sports reported that Hayden will sign a three-year deal worth $19 million, including $9.5 million guaranteed.

The 27-year-old Hayden replaces nickel cornerback Aaron Colvin Authentic Sandy Koufax Jersey , who reportedly agreed to a four-year deal with the Houston Texans on Tuesday.

Hayden has played in 61 games with Oakland (2013-16) and Detroit (2017), totaling 223 tackles, 35 pass breakups, three interceptions and 1 sacks.

Carey is expected to be a core special teams player for the Jaguars, who are looking to upgrade those units in 2018.

A sixth-round draft pick by Cleveland in 2009 Authentic Dorian O'Daniel Jersey , Carey landed in Jacksonville when the Jaguars claimed him after being waived/injured. He started 10 games for Jacksonville in 2010, got cut the following year and ended up in Detroit. He has 117 tackles, nine pass breakups and three interceptions in 99 games.

Hayden and Carey will join one of the league’s best defenses, a unit that returns 10 starters from last season and expects to be even better while playing a second year together.

They are part of Jacksonville’s 2018 free-agent class that also includes All-Pro guard Andrew Norwell and speedy receiver Donte Moncrief, according to two other people familiar with negotiations. The Jaguars also are re-signing receiver Marqise Lee.

Norwell is expected to sign a five-year Wholesale Trent Murphy Jersey , $66.5 million contract that includes $30 million guaranteed, one of the people said. That would make him one of the highest-paid offensive linemen in the league.

Moncrief will sign a one-year deal worth $7 million, according to ESPN. Lee agreed to a four-year deal worth $38 million that includes $18 million guaranteed, another person said.

Lee and Moncrief will be counted on to try to fill the void left by losing former Pro Bowl receiver Allen Robinson, who is headed to Chicago.

Norwell will slide into Jacksonville’s offensive line at left guard Authentic Lance McCullers Jersey , between left tackle Cam Robinson and center Brandon Linder.

Although Jacksonville led the NFL in rushing in 2017, the running game stalled late in the season and barely was a factor in the playoffs.

Norwell should help make Jacksonville’s line, especially the left side, one of the best in the AFC. And Moncrief’s big-play ability could prevent defenses from stacking the line of scrimmage against running back Leonard Fournette.

Taylor Hall extended his NHL-best points streak to 14 games with two assists, and Keith Kinkaid made 30 saves as the Devils maintained a five-point lead over Columbus in the race for the top wild-card spot Authentic David Ross Jersey , and increased their lead over the ninth-place Islanders to seven points.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak and gave New Jersey a 5-0 record in games in which they retire a jersey number.

Elias was the team’s career scoring leader and a two-time Stanley Cup champion.

Jordan Eberle scored in the second period for the Islanders. Jaroslav Halak was outstanding, making 31 saves for New York, which has lost three straight (0-2-1).

Islanders forward Andrew Ladd said this was a tough game to lose. It marked the second time this week New York had a lead after two periods and lost.

”Absolutely, especially a third-period loss Authentic Larry Doby Jersey ,” Ladd said. ”It’s deflating. We had a real opportunity to start moving up. You give up a game like that and it knocks you back a little bit. It’s frustrating. I don’t know any other way to say it. We have to find a way to pick ourselves up and keep going.”

Palmeri got his inner with 8:49 to play, when he redirected Sami Vatanen’s shot from the right point past Halakpoin. It was his 16th goal of the season and came from the goaltender’s crease.

The Devils survived a late Islanders’ power play and a hard shot by Eberle in the closing minute with the New York net empty.

”It was huge game,” Kinkaid said. ”Lots of blocks and we didn’t give up much. That’s playoff hockey right there. Pucks didn’t get to the net and credit to all our guys who sacrificed their bodies out there. When it did go through I had to do my best to make a big save when possible.”

Palmieri tied it at 1 with 13:25 left with a shot into the upper corner of the net from low in the left circle. Hall had nudged the puck to him near the Devils blue line and Palmieri skated up the ice before ripping a shot for his 15th goal.

The Islanders had taken the lead early in the second period when Eberle capped a tic-tac-toe 3-on-2 rush by tapping Anthony Beauvillier’s pass into an open net for his 22nd goal. Rookie Matthew Barzal picked up his 49th assist of the season on the play.

Islander coach Doug Weight said his team had chances to go up 2-0 and failed to capitalize.

”It’s tough way to lose,” Weight said. ”We have to find a way to get results. We have to keep digging. We are still in the neighborhood. It’s a real humbling Authentic Luis Severino Jersey , tough loss.”

LAS VEGAS — Thanks to Monday night’s 4-1 victory over Colorado Authentic Cody Allen Jersey , it’s finally okay to use the “P” word around Vegas Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant.

That’s “P” as in playoffs, a word that Gallant had banned from being used during the season as he stressed that the expansion Golden Knights stick to the old one-game-at-a-time mantra and not get caught looking ahead, even when Vegas had a 12-point lead in the Pacific Division.

With an “x” placed by their names in the standings emblematic of having officially clinched a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Golden Knights (48-21-7) will try to finish their historic regular-season on a strong note starting with Wednesday night’s game against the resurgent Arizona Coyotes (26-39-11) at T-Mobile Arena.

Article continues below ...

“When you start the season in training camp your goal is to make the playoffs,” Gallant said. “That was a goal but that really wasn’t something we were looking at from day one to be honest with you. It’s a great feeling. Last night was a great feeling.

“But, you know what? We’ve still got two weeks of the regular-season left. We’ve got to play hard every shift. We’ve got to play hard every game and try and get more points and be on a roll when we go into the playoffs.”

Vegas is only 7-5-3 in its last 15 games and had lost four of its previous six contests (2-2-2) before Monday’s win over the Avalanche.

“We haven’t played a full 60-minute game in a while Authentic Clayton Kershaw Jersey ,” left winger Pierre-Edouard Bellemare said following practice Tuesday afternoon. “We are going to be playing better and better teams, so we are going to have to find a way to do that, because in playoff time, it’s those moments where you are a little bit not as good, those are the moments that cost you the most.”

Vegas holds a five-point lead over the surging San Jose Sharks for first place in the Pacific Division with one meeting still remaining between the teams Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. The Golden Knights are 27-9-2 on their home ice.

“Having the home advantage (in the playoffs), especially with our fans Authentic Trevor Bauer Jersey , is the most important thing that we have,” Bellemare said. “We feel comfortable playing at home and having that extra game is important. So all those games starting (Wednesday) are important for sure.”

This is the final of five contests between Vegas and Arizona, who last played on Dec. 3 at T-Mobile Arena. The Golden Knights won all four of the previous meetings but two of them were decided in overtime.

“We played them a lot in the early parts of the year,” said Coyotes center Derek Stepan, who has eight points in the last five games. “I think we’re a different group in here. I know for our group, this is an important game for us Authentic Jonathan Villar Jersey , we want to make sure that we don’t let them get all five.”

The Coyotes, who began the season 0-10-1 and were 9-27-5 heading into 2018, have played much better of late with a 14-7-2 record in their last 23 games, including an impressive 4-1 victory at Eastern Conference leading Tampa Bay on Monday night.

This is the fifth contest of a season-long six-game, 5,862-mile road trip for Arizona Authentic Greg Maddux Jersey , which concludes Thursday at Los Angeles.

I'm a sucker for martial arts books. My shelves are full of guidelines for systems I will never have the chance to study Authentic Anthony Averett Jersey , by masters past and present whom I will never have the chance, or sometimes the desire, to meet. There's even a book about using taiji to run better.

Martial arts books fall into a few categories. The ones most people look for are the ones I think of as "How To Wave Your Hands Around" books. They describe the motions of forms and styles, often finishing up with short bios of famous teachers and cryptic translations of old sayings. The more interesting ones go into the mechanics: "How to Wave Your Hands Around With Intention." It is endlessly fascinating to see how two movements can mean and do such different things with different intentions behind them. Is it a strike or a throw? However Uchenna Nwosu Jersey Elite , lists of this kind of jing and that kind of jing are not always interesting reading since you really need an in-person teacher to show you how to unlock meaning and hidden moves within a form. The third category is philosophy, which is the difference between martial arts and fighting. You probably have these books on your shelves, too. Each of them has its place. I quote from one or another of them extensively in my writings, since each can be the source of great inspiration.

I've recently had the pleasure of reading a book that reaches multiple categories and beyond Mike White Jersey Elite , Researches of Martial Arts by Jonathan Bluestein. Mr. Bluestein is an exponent of two traditional Chinese martial arts, Xing Yi (internal) and Piguachang (mostly external) and uses his understanding of them to launch into an expansive, thoughtful exploration of the "why" behind traditional East Asian martial arts. Waving hands? A little, although it is not the main focus. Intention? Yes. Internal and external power? Yes Wholesale Terrelle Pryor Sr. Jersey , although he thoughtfully disagrees with the traditional classifications. Open hand forms and weapons? Yes. History and philosophy and interviews with masters? Yes. More than that, he touches on what most martial artists are secretly looking for: the keys to unlock hidden aspects within our systems through deep and authentic practice. That kind of serious practice can be reflected in our lives off the mat, too. Mr. Bluestein understands that martial arts are not only about fighting.

For those who are looking for more than the "how to" of martial arts or negotiating strategy, Researches of Martial Arts is worth the read.

LAS VEGAS — It was a storybook first half of the season for the Vegas Golden Knights who shattered record after record for an NHL expansion team en route to a 29-10-2 mark and first place in the Pacific Division.

But don’t look for head coach Gerard Gallant Rick Leonard Super Bowl LI Jersey , whose squad returns from its bye week to host Edmonton on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena, to let his team rest on its laurels.

“We’ve had a great first half, and we all know that,” Gallant said after putting his team through a pair of 30-minute workouts on Friday afternoon. “But the first half doesn’t mean nothing if we don’t pick it up and go to the ultimate goal.”

That would be the Stanley Cup playoffs Adidas Mitchell Marner Jersey , a goal most would have found laughable before Vegas began the season.

But the Golden Knights ended the first half on an eye-popping 14-1-1 run and will bring a seven-game home win streak into Saturday’s game with the Oilers.

“We’ve got to keep working hard and playing hard and get as many points as we can and we’ll see where it takes us,” Gallant said. “I think our players are confident and feel good about themselves.”

Many members of the Golden Knights spent their off time in the sunny, warm waters of Cabo San Lucas. To that end, Gallant owes the NHL schedule-maker a big thank you for scheduling Edmonton which should make the Golden Knights refocus before kicking off the second half of the season.

The Oilers handed Vegas its worst loss in team history in their first meeting on Nov. 14 at Rogers Place Jessie Bates III Super Bowl LI Jersey , bolting out to a 3-0 first period lead and rolling to an 8-2 victory behind two goals each by Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

“(McDavid) had his way with us,” Vegas defenseman Nate Schmidt said. “That just makes this game that much more exciting for us, especially after what happened the last time we played them.”

Gallant was asked if he would bring up that result as a way to motivate his team.

“You don’t have to remind them,” Gallant said. “They know they had a stinker game that night. But you know what? That game showed us a lot about our hockey team. We came back two nights later in Vancouver and played a really good hockey game on the road (winning 5-2). I think after that game we won five in a row. The guys really showed a lot of character. … That was the turning point in the season for me.”

Edmonton (19-23-3) comes in off a 4-2 victory at Arizona on Friday night and will be playing its final game before its bye week break. Defenseman Darnell Nurse had two goals and McDavid had two assists as the Oilers rallied from an early 2-0 deficit to win for just the second time in nine games.

“It was nice to see us be resilient and come back Wholesale Byron Maxwell Jersey ,” Nurse said. “It could have been easy for us to say, ‘Here we go again’ but that wasn’t the case. Edmonton improved to 7-2 in Pacific Division games while Vegas is 11-1 with the lone loss to the Oilers.
