Corey Kluber’s stellar first half ended with a sudden stop.

Cleveland’s ace received an injection in his right knee that will force him to miss the All-Star Game. But more importantly Brady Skjei Jersey , the Indians are hoping it will allow the right-hander to continue leading their rotation after the break – and beyond.

Kluber got the shot in his knee on Friday, a day after the two-time Cy Young Award winner gave up two runs in the eighth inning and was beaten by the New York Yankees. The AL Central-leading Indians said the right-hander will need at least one week to recover and he’s not expected to make his next start until July 23 against Pittsburgh.

Kluber has been replaced on the AL All-Star roster by Tampa Bay’s Blake Snell.

While Kluber’s knee issue doesn’t appear to be serious, the Indians aren’t taking any chances.

The 32-year-old pitcher took his fifth loss of the season Thursday night, but never mentioned any issues with his knee. Kluber has given up 19 runs over his last 34 innings, an uncharacteristic stretch for one of baseball’s best.

With the score tied, Kluber allowed a go-ahead double to New York’s Aaron Hicks in the eighth inning and the Yankees went on to win 7-4, dropping Kluber to 12-5 this season.

Kluber said the knee has been bothering him for a ”few weeks.”

”I don’t want to try to use it an excuse, but if anything it made it a little harder to consistently repeat my delivery the way that I want to,” he said. ”My arm action has been the same Johnny Gaudreau Jersey Kids , but the release point’s been lower.”

While the Indians hold a comfortable lead in the division, manager Terry Francona wants Kluber to be as close to 100 percent as possible for the remainder of the season.

”We’ve had this in the works for a while,” Francona said. ”We’ll bring him back fourth coming out of the break so he can have a little bit of a break, because he’s going to shoulder a huge load.”

”That’s why we decided to do it now,” Kluber said. ”I would have liked to have pitched in the All-Star Game, but obviously the big picture, being healthy for the second half was more important.”

The Indians want to be careful with Kluber as the season progresses. He has logged a lot of innings during his career and the cumulative effect may have contributed to him being less than 100 percent during last year’s playoffs. It wasn’t until after the Indians were beaten by the Yankees in the Division Series that Francona revealed Kluber was dealing with physical limitations during the series.

Bill Lazor’s statistical study of the Bengals‘ offense during the offseason left him feeling the same as he did on all those discouraging game days. The numbers confirmed what his eyes had seen so many times.

Some mighty small numbers filled up the columns measuring big plays. The Bengals were one of the most inept teams in the league at getting the ball downfield, the main factor in a second straight losing season.

”Statistically, it looks just like it felt http://www.chicagobearsteamonline.com/quintin-demps-jersey ,” the Bengals’ offensive coordinator said. ”You were there.”

The main emphasis in Lazor’s overhaul of the offense has been finding ways to get big plays out of an offense that finished last in total yards and near the bottom in big plays as well. It all begins with Andy Dalton, who is coming off one of his least-effective seasons.

The eighth-year quarterback completed 69.9 percent of his passes and averaged 6.69 yards per attempt, both figures his worst since his rookie season. Dalton repeatedly was off-target on long passes. He also was under constant pressure, which limited the time for receivers to get open downfield and contributed to the lack of long passes.

”This group’s been one of the best groups in the NFL – since Andy came into the league – on vertical passes,” coach Marvin Lewis said. ”And we weren’t very good. So that alone is the first thing.”

The 2015 season was Dalton’s best as he worked behind a veteran line. The Bengals had 63 pass plays of at least 20 yards, nine shy of the league high shared by the Saints and Jaguars. Last season, they managed only 34 such plays, a huge decline. The Saints led the league with 72 pass plays of 20 yards or more.

The passing game wasn’t the only failed area. The Bengals’ longest run was only 25 yards, the worst in the league.

Injuries played a role. Tight end Tyler Eifert hurt his back in the second game and was out for the rest of the season. Top draft pick John Ross was severely limited by two shoulder injuries and didn’t catch a pass.

By contrast Artemi Panarin Jersey , every part of the offense – receivers, tight ends, running backs – provided game-turning plays in 2015.

”Guys did a good job of making tough, contested catches,” Dalton said. ”I was being accurate with the ball, and guys were catching and running. I think there were probably some broken tackles in the run game and different things. It’s a big thing we want to do.”

The Bengals failed to score a touchdown in their first two games last season and fired offensive coordinator Ken Zampese. Lazor took over as an interim coordinator, got the job after the season, and was given a lot of latitude to reinvent the offense.

The new playbook provides many opportunities to try for a big play.

”It’s not on everything, but there’s definitely chances to take shots down the field Antonio Morrison Jersey ,” Dalton said.

The Bengals traded with the Bills for left tackle Cordy Glenn and drafted center Billy Price in the first round as part of their line overhaul. Ross is back and making impressive plays during camp. Eifert signed a one-year deal and was cleared to practice on Monday.

There was no thought of bringing in someone to challenge Dalton, who has the backing of Lewis and owner Mike Brown. They’re hoping a solid line will give Dalton the time he needs to perform more like he did in 2015.

”When Andy came to us in 2011 up to now, our winning percentage is eighth in the league,” said Duke Tobin, director of player personnel. ”We’re confident in him leading our team. We have to be better in front of him than last year. We’ve got to put a better run game with him.

”We feel like we’ve got weapons on the outside and he should be in the prime of his career, so he’s going to have to lead the charge.”

Former Bears head coach Dave Wannstedt showed up to the team’s training camp today and blasted rookie linebacker Roquan Smith Mike Ditka Jersey , whom Wannstedt described as “selfish” for remaining unsigned, almost two weeks after the rest of the Bears’ rookies reported to camp.

“For a rookie to hold out because of some fine print, it’s pretty selfish from an agent standpoint to do that. This kid needs to be here,” Wannstedt said.

Of course, what’s “fine print” to Wannstedt could be millions of dollars to Smith, especially if the Bears are holding to the idea that they could wipe out Smith’s guarantees if he gets suspended for violating the NFL’s ill-defined rule against lowering the helmet to initiate contact. If that’s why Smith is holding out, then his agents are being prudent, not selfish.

Still, Wannstedt says a rookie needs to be in camp.

“Physically I’m sure he’s running and doing that stuff, but there’s no substitute for what they’re doing right now, for having the pads on, going through full speed drills with pads on Brandon Scherff Jersey ,” Wannstedt said.

That may be true, but there are always two sides to every negotiation. Wannstedt may only see the management side because he was in management, but there’s validity to the player’s side as well.

If someone proposed it today, they’d get laughed out of the room. But there was a time when one of the major events of the American sports year was a game between the reigning NFL champions and a team of college all-stars. And it all came to an end 42 years ago today.

Known as the Chicago Charities College All-Star Game, the contest was played every year from 1934 until 1976, with the exception of 1974, when it was canceled by an NFL players’ strike. Soldier Field hosted every game except the 1943 and 1944 games, which were played at Northwestern’s Dyche Stadium.

Could a ragtag group of 22-year-olds who had barely had time to practice together really compete with the best team in the NFL? Amazingly, in those days, they could. In the 1930s and 1940s, the best college players didn’t always choose to play pro football, and pro players weren’t necessarily better than college players. The first five College All-Star Games featured two wins by the college players Authentic Oscar Fantenberg Jersey , two ties, and only one win by the NFL team. (That one, in 1935, was the only year when the NFL’s runner-up, rather than the reigning champion, represented pro football.)

By the 1960s and 1970s, however, pro football had become America’s most popular sport, and the money that came with playing pro ball meant all the best college players wanted to turn pro, and many of the top pro players were training year round, rather than finding offseason jobs. As a result, in the last couple decades of the College All-Star Game Martin Jones Jersey , the pro teams were beating the college teams consistently, and often easily: The pro teams won 16 of the last 17 College All-Star Games, and few of those games were even close.

The last game the College All-Stars won came in 1963, when the Green Bay Packers fell to the College All-Stars 20-17. Packers coach Vince Lombardi felt humiliated.

“We used to have a social get-together after a night game,” former Packer Boyd Dowler recalled in 2013. “Lombardi came in, and he looked visibly upset — like death warmed over. He wasn’t real kind when we got together for training camp again.”

Packers great Willie Davis added that Lombardi “would always bring it up to us when we weren’t playing well. Believe me, we never would forget it.”

On July 23, 1976, the Super Bowl champion Steelers played what would become the last College All-Star Game. A horrific thunderstorm broke out in the third quarter, and video of the game has to be seen to be believed: Not only was the storm like something out of a disaster movie, but when the college team’s coach, Ara Parseghian called a timeout to try to get his players organized in the monsoon Youth Terrell Suggs Jersey , the fans took the opportunity to storm the field. Eventually the game was called off in the third quarter, both because of lightning and because those fans on the field had torn down the goal posts and showed no signs of being willing to vacate. The Steelers led 24-0 at the time the game was called.

And that was the end of the College All-Star Game, for that year and forever. The game had come to seem pointless, as the college players really couldn’t compete with the NFL players anymore, fans were losing interest, and players were more concerned about avoiding injuries than winning the game. The plug was pulled, and what had once been a major part of the American sports year came to an end.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Safety Shawn Williams lowered his shoulder and hit Andrew Luck in the head as he was tackled Authentic Stephen Johns Jersey , drawing an ejection.

End Carlos Dunlap went for Luck’s legs and got a penalty for roughing the passer. He was flagged again when he landed hard on the quarterback after taking him down.

The Bengals‘ defense spent a lot of time self-destructing before holding on for a 34-23 win at Indianapolis in their opener. Fixing the egregious penalties is at the top of their list as they get ready to host Baltimore (1-0) on Thursday night.

“You’re just trying to do your job, get after the quarterback,” Williams said, referring to the penalties on him and Dunlap. “Like me, he has to find a way to do what’s within the rules.”

The Bengals (1-0) hired defensive coordinator Teryl Austin in the offseason after Paul Guenther left for the Raiders. Austin has emphasized getting turnovers, and the defense won the game with one.

Luck was trying to lead the Colts to a winning touchdown when safety Clayton Fejedelem stripped tight end Jack Doyle of the ball near the Cincinnati 15-yard line and returned the fumble for a touchdown with 24 seconds left.

The defense had a few glaring shortcomings. Luck completed 39 of 53 passes for 319 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception, and the Colts had 380 yards overall.

The three penalties were the most glaring issues.

Williams’ hit on Luck’s head in the first quarter cost the Bengals their veteran safety and moved the Colts to the 9-yard line. They had to settle for a field goal.

Dunlap’s first roughing-the-passer penalty with 27 seconds left in the first half moved the Colts in range for another field goal. His second roughing penalty resulted in a fumble being negated.

“The penalties were the disappointing thing,” Austin said.

The NFL has emphasized that it won’t accept actions such as Williams hitting Luck in the head.

“I levelled my shoulder Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Jersey ,” Williams said. “The contact with his head was incidental. There’s nothing I can do about that. I don’t know what he’s going to do as a runner. I know he’s going to try and get the first down and my job is to stop him.”

Dunlap’s first penalty was for going after Luck’s legs, which also is a point of emphasis in protecting quarterbacks. The second one violated a new rule that says defenders can’t land on the quarterback with their full weight as they tackle them.

Dunlap landed on top of Luck and caused a fumble that the Bengals recovered, but it was negated by the penalty.

“Yeah, I was upset,” Dunlap said. “I mean, I tried to do the next-best thing and keep all my weight from taking him to the ground. Like, I rolled off right away and I tried to let the referee know that I’m not trying to be malicious and drive him into the ground.”

Cornerback William Jackson also got an unnecessary roughness penalty while trying to prevent T.Y. Hilton’s touchdown catch. Overall, Cincinnati was penalized eight times for 94 yards.

DOING BETTER

Linebacker Preston Brown had a limited practice Tuesday http://www.dallascowboysteamonline.com/jason-witten-jersey , a day after he sat out with an injured right ankle. Dunlap also had a limited practice, a day after sitting out with a calf injury. Both are expected to be available against the Ravens. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict will serve the second of his four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancers.

2-0 IS RARE IN CINCINNATI

The Bengals haven’t won their first two games since 2015, when they went 12-4 and won the AFC North. They’ve opened 2-0 four times during Lewis’ 15 previous seasons — 2005, 2006, 2014 and 2015. They reached the playoffs in three of those seasons and lost in the first round. Last year, the Bengals dropped their first three games.

VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

LAST SEASON: 51-24-7, 109 points. First place Pacific Division. Lost to Washington Capitals in Stanley Cup Final

COACH: Gerard Gallant (second season, eighth NHL season).

ADDED: LW Max Pacioretty Womens Jameis Winston Jersey , C Paul Stastny, D Nick Holden

LOST: RW James Neal, LW David Perron, D Luca Sbisa

PLAYER TO WATCH: William Karlsson. Before last season, Karlsson’s previous career highs were nine goals and 20 points, numbers he reached in 2015-16. Last season, he was the catalyst for the Golden Knights‘ high-octane offense by finishing with 43 goals and 78 points in the regular season. He agreed to a one-year, $5.25 million extension over the summer and will be looking to prove he’s worth every dollar and deserving of a bigger contract next summer.

OUTLOOK: After their run to the Stanley Cup Final Doug Williams Jersey , the losses of Neal and Perron meant the Golden Knights would take a significant hit to their offense. But the additions of Stastny and Pacioretty immediately made Vegas a contender again. Shea Theodore ended his holdout, and when fellow-defenseman Nate Schmidt returns from his 20-game suspension in November, the Knights may be favored to win the Western Conference again.

Michael Vick's second try for a football championship in Atlanta will come as a coach.

Atlanta was announced on Wednesday as the choice to join Orlando as franchises in the new Alliance of American Football that will begin play next February.

The Atlanta Alliance has hired former NFL coach Brad Childress as its head coach. Vick http://www.washingtonredskinsteamonline.com/zach-brown-jersey , the former Falcons quarterback, will serve as Childress' offensive coordinator.

"I want to bring a championship to the city of Atlanta," Vick said. "It's always been a dream of mine, and now I have another shot."

Atlanta is the second city to get a franchise in the league that was created by Pro Football Hall of Fame member Bill Polian and longtime TV and film producer Charlie Ebersol. The Alliance has a television deal with CBS and plans to open its first season the week after the Super Bowl.

Vick, 37, was the top overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft by Atlanta and was a three-time Pro Bowl selection during his time with the Falcons (2001-06). His stay ended in disgrace.

Vick served 18 months in prison following his guilty plea for a dogfighting operation in his native Virginia. He returned to play five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, followed by short stints with the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

In 2017, he was welcomed back to the Falcons family by owner Arthur Blank in a retirement ceremony for Vick and receiver Roddy White.

Vick took the Falcons to the NFC championship game in 2004 but never reached the Super Bowl.

"When I accepted the job and thought about what it would take to bring this city a championship Youth Ben Roethlisberger Jersey , I knew that I needed to bring Michael Vick back to Atlanta," Childress said. "His connection with the city is undeniable, and his 13 years of NFL experience will make him a tremendous asset to our team. I saw firsthand his innate ability to bring out the best in those around him and I'm confident that together, we're going to build something special for the city of Atlanta."

Vick said he has "a love and passion for teaching the game of football."

"I've learned so much over the course of my career, playing for and being mentored by some of the best coaches in all of football," he said. "I'm committed to paying it forward, helping players grow and putting some of my ideas into action on the football field. To do this in Atlanta just makes it that much sweeter."

Another veteran coach, Steve Spurrier http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/clay-matthews-jersey , is in charge of the Orlando team.

"There is a tremendous amount of players and coaches who deserve a chance to compete at a professional level, but only a limited and finite amount of roster spots and positions in the sport today," Childress said. "The Alliance of American Football offers an exciting opportunity for players and coaches to launch or continue their career at the professional level during the spring, and I'm particularly impressed with its strong focus on the relationship between players, fans and the game."

The team will play at Georgia State Stadium, the former Turner Field that was home to baseball's Atlanta Braves.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed four of their seven draft picks, including fourth-rounder Will Richardson.

The Jaguars announced Thursday they also signed sixth-round quarterback Tanner Lee, seventh-round punter Logan Cooke and seventh-round linebacker Leon Jacobs.

Richardson Terrell Owens Jersey , who is expected to compete with veteran Jermey Parnell at right tackle, was the 129th overall pick. He started 32 games in three seasons at North Carolina State.

Richardson’s contact is worth $2,742,682, including a signing bonus of $327,682.

Lee’s deal is worth $2,507,141 with a signing bonus of $92 Le'Raven Clark Jersey ,141.

Cooke’s contract is worth $2,531,623 with a signing bonus of $71,623. Jacobs’ deal is similar.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will open free agency by adding two offensive pieces and re-signing another.

The Jaguars are poised to sign All-Pro guard Andrew Norwell and speedy receiver Donte Moncrief in free agency Thursday Authentic Jameis Winston Jersey , according to two people familiar with negotiations. The people spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Tuesday because NFL teams are prohibited from announcing signings until free agency officially begins Wednesday afternoon.

Norwell is expected to sign a five-year, $66.5 million contract that includes $30 million guaranteed, one of the people said. That would make him one of the highest-paid offensive linemen in the league.

Another person with knowledge of contract talks with receiver Marqise Lee says the team has agreed to terms with Lee on a four-year deal worth $38 million. It includes $18 million guaranteed.

Lee and Moncrief will be counted on to try to fill the void left by losing former Pro Bowl receiver Allen Robinson, who is headed to Chicago. Lee led the Jaguars in receiving in 2017, catching 56 balls for 702 yards and three touchdowns. Moncrief had 26 receptions for 391 yards and two scores with Indianapolis.

Moncrief has the speed to loosen up eight- and nine-man defensive fronts.

The Jaguars made the ground game a priority when coach Doug Marrone and top executive Tom Coughlin took over in January 2017. They selected bruising running back Leonard Fournette and left tackle Cam Robinson in the first two rounds of the NFL draft last year and dedicated the offseason to becoming a more physical team up front. They also made Brandon Linder one of the NFL's highest-paid centers.

Norwell is expected to slide into Jacksonville's offensive line at left guard, between Robinson and Linder. The Jaguars have used five different starters at the position the last two seasons.

Although Jacksonville led the NFL in rushing in 2017, the running game stalled late in the season and barely was a factor in the playoffs. The Jaguars averaged 141.4 yards a game last season, but they topped 100 yards just twice in the final six games.

Norwell should help make Jacksonville's line Aaron Lynch Jersey , especially the left side, one of the best in the AFC.

He was the No. 1 offensive lineman available in free agency, a first-team All-Pro selection who didn't allow a sack or a quarterback hit in 2017, according to Pro Football Focus. He started 45 of 48 games over the past three seasons and helped the Panthers finished fourth, 10th, and second, respectively, in rushing.

Moncrief and Lee have shown big-play ability despite a slew of injuries.

But neither looks like the go-to guy Robinson was expected to be. The Jags likely will end up relying on those two along with promising youngsters Dede Westbrook Authentic Mike Evans Jersey , Keelan Cole and Rashad Greene in 2018.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Nashville Predators started training camp explaining why they’re keeping a player after the NHL suspended forward Austin Watson for the entire preseason and the first 27 games of the regular season for domestic abuse.

Predators president Sean Henry and general manager David Poile made the move sound more like a family affair than a business decision Thursday.

“I think you would do everything you could do just to rehabilitate your child or make the situation whole,” Poile said.

“I’m hoping at the end of the day that maybe this is a blessing, that maybe this is what was meant to be for a lot of reasons and there’s going to be a good outcome for Austin and Jen and their baby. It’s a very difficult situation. It’s a private situation, and we’re the family that’s going to do our best to try to care of this.”

The NHL announced the suspension Wednesday night, and the NHL Players Association plans to appeal. Watson will not be paid during the suspension but can practice with the team and use the Predators’ resources all while not taking up a roster spot.

Watson, 26, was charged in an incident June 16 with his girlfriend after a witness flagged down a police officer to a gas station in Franklin Charley Taylor Jersey , Tennessee. Watson told police he and his girlfriend were arguing and that he pushed her. Officers said they found red marks on her chest, and she said Watson caused them. Watson pleaded no contest to domestic assault on July 24.

As part of that plea, Watson can have the misdemeanor charge dismissed by fulfilling terms of the diversion program. Watson must serve three months of probation and complete both an in-patient treatment program and a batterer’s intervention program.

The Predators have been heavily criticized in Nashville for not commenting since Watson’s arrest. The franchise has been very involved with AMEND, a program fighting domestic violence over the past few years. Watson was even in a commercial against domestic violence for the program.

Poile said the Predators’ players leadership group have talked repeatedly with both Watson and his girlfriend, and players were in the room during the news conference as a show of support. Henry was asked Thursday morning at an AMEND event why the Predators are keeping Watson and said it’s possible to both support Watson while fighting domestic violence.

“Whenever something like this hits a little closer to home, you have to look at it in two ways,” Henry said. “You have a choice. Walk away from the person or walk away from the issue. That’s how everyone looks at it. You can’t have both, and we don’t see it that way. We see engaging with Austin and Jen deeper http://www.officialblackhawksproshop.com/authentic-adidas-artem-anisimov-jersey , and most importantly staying with our commitment with AMEND.”

Neither Watson, nor his girlfriend, have spoken publicly about the incident or suspension.

The 18th pick overall in 2010, Watson scored a career-high 14 goals with five assists in 76 games last season. He had five goals and three assists in 13 playoff games.

With apologies to Little Orphan Annie Brent Seabrook Jersey Kids , the sun’ll come out today.

Considering the month the Kansas City Royals just went through, and that they’re currently in often-overcast Seattle, that was no guarantee.

No team in baseball will be happier to flip the calendar than the Royals, who are coming off the worst June in their 50-year history.

“I’m ready to turn the page and start over in July,” Royals manager Ned Yost told The Kansas City Star. “It’s just kind of a reset. We’re out of there, it’s done; it’s behind us. Let’s go on to July and see what happens.”

How bad was June?

The Royals went 5-21, tied for their fewest wins in the month (and that came in 1981, when they went 5-5 as the season was interrupted by a work stoppage).

They scored four or fewer runs in all but two games Sean Taylor Jersey , including 21 of the past 22, and never won back-to-back games.

Kansas City scored a major league low 58 runs in the month, 29 fewer than runner-up Tampa Bay (87).

They batted .193 (162-for-839), the worst month in franchise history (the 1992 Royals hit .207 in April), and had 10 hits in a game just once.

“It’s not frustration,” Yost told MLB.com of his club’s rough June. “Well, that’s a lie. We’re all frustrated. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve never seen an offensive drought like we’ve had all month long. It’s pretty puzzling. There’s no answer for it.”

One of the few bright spots for the Royals was the performance of rookie right-hander Brad Keller (2-2, 2.25 ERA) Womens C.J. Mosley Jersey , who is scheduled to face Mariners left-hander James Paxton (7-2, 3.65) in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Safeco Field.

In his last outing Monday, Keller pitched seven innings, allowed just two hits and struck out six in a 2-0 victory against the Angels, getting his first win as a starter.

The Angels hit just one ball out of the infield against Keller and never got a runner past first base.

“It was pretty super-duper,” Yost said. “Just banging strikes, on the attack, everything that you want. Just a great pitching performance. Never was in any real trouble and had the game in total control.”

Keller became just the second Royals starter to throw at least seven shutout innings while allowing two or fewer hits within his first five major league starts. The other was Mel Stottlemyre Jr. (now the Mariners pitching coach) in 1990.

“I was able to keep the ball down Womens Jameis Winston Jersey , keep them off-balance,” Keller said after his last start. “Slider felt really good and made some adjustments in the bullpen prior to this game, and it felt really good.”

Paxton, who is 2-0 with a 2.54 ERA in five career starts against Kansas City, will be facing the Royals for the second time this season. He didn’t get a decision in a 4-2 Seattle road victory on April 11, allowing two runs on six hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out 10.

Paxton had nearly identical statistics in his last start Tuesday in Baltimore, allowing two runs on six hits in seven innings with one walk and 10 strikeouts in a 3-2 victory.

“(Paxton) came right after them, right out of the chute http://www.lionscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-golden-tate-iii-jersey ,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said. “I thought he was outstanding.”

The Buffalo Bills are going to have to play the waiting game to address their needs at either receiver or offensive line the second day of the NFL draft.

The Bills are left with just one pick, 96th overall, on Friday after giving up two second-round and a third-round selection after swinging a pair of trades on Day 1. Buffalo moved up five spots in the order to draft Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen at No. 7. The Bills then moved up six spots to pick Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds at No. 16.

Buffalo has openings along the offensive line after center Eric Wood was diagnosed with a career-ending neck injury in January, and after left guard Richie Incognito's abrupt retirement.

The receiver position lacks established depth behind Kelvin Benjamin. Buffalo could also be in the market for a running back with veteran workhorse LeSean McCoy set to turn 30 this summer.

 Authentic Arizona Cardinals Jerseys
Davis Webb took a step toward restoring confidence that he can be a capable backup quarterback for the New York Giants.

Webb took advantage of his opportunity to play for Eli Manning Jeff Petry Jersey Kids , throwing a go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter to help the New York Giants beat the Detroit Lions 30-17 Friday night.

"Everyone says that wins don't matter in the preseason, but they leave a much better feeling in the locker room," Giants coach Pat Shurmur said.

Webb was 14 of 20 for 140 yards with an 8-yard TD pass to Wayne Gallman Jr., who scored for a second time later in the game. Webb showed poise in the pocket and touch down the field, connecting on a perfectly lofted 40-yard pass to Russell Shepard to set up Aldrick Rosas' 55-yard field goal in the second quarter.

"I just wanted to hit the reset button on everything that happened last week," Webb said.

Manning, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, was a healthy scratch.

Webb, a 2017 third-round pick Ray Nitschke Jersey , played well after performing well last week. He was 9 of 22 for 70 yards, sailing passes over open receivers in the preseason opening loss against Cleveland to raise some concerns about whether he's ready to be the team's No. 2 quarterback.

"I was very happy to see Davis Webb bounce back that well as a starter," Shurmur said. "He made significant improvements from last week to this week, and that shows why we have so much confidence in him. I thought he was calmer and he did a very nice job."

The Giants rested rookie running back Saquon Barkley with a strained hamstring and didn't test receiver Odell Beckham Jr.'s surgically repaired ankle.

Giants rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta, a fourth-round pick, scrambled and scored on a 10-yard run in the third quarter to put the Giants ahead 17-3. Gallman took an inside handoff and bounced to the outside on an 11-yard run to put New York up by three TDs early in the fourth.

The Lions started Matthew Stafford after sitting him in last week's game at Oakland and he didn't have much time to make plays behind a porous offensive line. Stafford was 2 of 5 for 51 yards and was sacked twice and hit once as he threw.

Detroit coach Matt Patricia, though, refused to blame the guys up front.

"I don't think we played particularly well at any position," he said.

Jake Rudock replaced Stafford in the second quarter and finished 23 of 30 for 171 yards with a TD. Rudock came back in the fourth Charles Haley Jersey , relieving veteran Matt Cassel, who threw an interception.

Even though it was just a preseason game, Patricia was clearly not happy with his players, staff and himself.

"We got to do a better job and it starts with me," he said. "We've got to get these guys ready to go. We obviously have a lot of work to do."

INJURIES

Giants: RB Jalen Simmons left the game in the second half with a concussion. Shepard left the game in the fourth with a finger injury.

Lions: LB Steve Longa appeared to hurt his right knee when he tried to tackle Lauletta on his TD run in the third quarter. After being evaluated on the field, Longa walked off the field slowly and went toward the locker room.

HE'S BACK

Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah played for the first time this preseason, coming back from an undisclosed injury that kept him out of the beginning of training camp.

"I noticed him on a couple plays," Patricia said. "It was good that he was out there, working hard."

NATIONAL ANTHEM

There were no player protests during the national anthem. The Lions Ryan Kerrigan Jersey , as they did last week, stood on the sideline with their arms locked together. The Giants all stood at attention and many players held their right hand over their heart.

PREGAME CHAT

Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders met Barkley before the game, chatted briefly and posed for some pictures.

"He's put together," Sanders said.

UP NEXT

Giants: Face the Jets on the field they share, technically as the visitors on Aug. 24.

Lions: Visit Tampa Bay on Aug. 24.

Free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland hasn’t had a team to work out with all offseason, so he’s going to go see as many as he can to try to get caught up.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, Breeland has visits this week with the Colts and Browns, in addition to previously reported trips to see the Raiders and Chiefs. The Cardinals also had him scheduled for a visit earlier this offseason.

After a productive stint with Washington, he signed a three-year Josh Jones Jersey , $24 million contract with the Panthers early in free agency, only to fail his physical because of a cut on his leg that became infected and needed months to heal.

He’s a solid cover player when well, which indicates why so many teams are interested in him now, even though no one’s going to pay him what he’d have gotten in March.

 Cheap Los Angeles Rams Jerseys
Sam Darnold showed he could recover from a careless mistake 鈥?a promising trait for any rookie quarterback.

What the New York Jets displayed on defense and special teams may have been even more encouraging for Darnold and his teammates.

Darnold threw an interception on the very first snap of his NFL career 鈥?and it was run back for a Detroit touchdown 鈥?but New York's quarterback shouldn't sweat that too much after the Jets stormed back and routed the Lions 48-17 on Monday night. Darnold threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns Womens Paul Byron Jersey , and the Jets also scored on defense and special teams.

"We're going to play better every game, that's our goal," wide receiver Quincy Enunwa said. "Obviously you can't always make it happen, that's going to be what we're striving for. All three phases being successful, scoring on all three phases. When you can do that, you can be a pretty good team."

Darnold earned the starting job after the Jets drafted him third overall in this year's draft. His performance alone was cause for excitement Monday, but on this night, New York seemed to have a pretty solid cast around him as well. The Jets intercepted Matthew Stafford four times in a dismal debut for new Lions coach Matt Patricia.

"Give the Jets credit. They obviously are the ones that played well tonight," Patricia said. "We have to do better http://www.indianapoliscoltsteamonline.com/joe-haeg-jersey , I have to coach better and we have to play better."

New York scored 31 unanswered points in the final 9:36 of the third quarter after the Lions had tied it at 17. Darron Lee returned an interception for a touchdown, and Andre Roberts scored on a 78-yard punt return 67 seconds later.

What we learned from New York's resounding win:

REBOUND

Darnold's start to this game was pretty much the worst-case scenario. On the first play from scrimmage, his ill-advised throw sailed toward the left sideline and was picked off by Quandre Diggs, who returned it 37 yards for a 7-0 lead. That was Darnold's only major error, however. He not only showed he could play well in prime time on the road, he also showed he could handle adversity.

The 21-year-old Darnold was the youngest quarterback to start a season opener since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. He was also the first quarterback to win his first start by 31 or more points since Tom Brady in 2001, per ESPN Stats & Info.

STUCK IN NEUTRAL

The Lions were unimpressive in the preseason, but it's always tough to tell how much that really matters. This opener confirmed this team has issues. It was the most lopsided loss for Detroit in an opener since a 45-0 shellacking at Washington in 1991. (Of course, the Lions ended up making the NFC title game that season).

Detroit had scored at least 25 points in seven straight season openers Womens Henrik Zetterberg Jersey , an NFL record. That streak is now over.

Perhaps most distressing, the Jets said they had a read on Stafford's signals.

"We were calling out their plays as he was getting up to the line," Lee said.

NO BALANCE

Detroit did a lot to try to shore up the running game this offseason, drafting Kerryon Johnson and adding LeGarrette Blount. It was enough of an overhaul that Ameer Abdullah was inactive for the opener.

The Lions ended up with 39 yards on 15 carries. Blount ran four times for minus-3 yards. Not a good sign.

"I know it sounds crazy, but we're a lot better football team than we showed," tackle Taylor Decker said. "I think we all know that and we're all secure and comfortable with that. We'll get better moving forward."

X-FACTOR?

Maybe it was just poor coverage by Detroit, but Roberts also had a 43-yard punt return in the first quarter in addition to his touchdown.

EXPECTATIONS

One victory doesn't make the Jets a Super Bowl team, but the lopsided nature of this one is hard to ignore, and now New York has winnable games the next two weeks against Miami and at Cleveland.

Detroit is at San Francisco next weekend.

 Youth Denver Broncos Jerseys

In January Josh Norman Jersey , Case Keenum was part of one of the great plays in NFL history when he completed the Minneapolis Miracle, the touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs on the last play of the Vikings’ playoff win over the Saints. Now Keenum is the Broncos’ quarterback, and he gave fans in Denver a fantastic breakdown of the play, both from an Xs and Os perspective, and from a human perspective.

Keenum was at an event for Broncos season ticket holders when he was asked about the play, and he then spent several minutes at a whiteboard explaining every element of it.

In the Vikings’ playbook, the play was known as “Gun buffalo right key left 7 heaven.” Keenum first explained what that means.

“Buffalo is our formation. It’s three-by-one but it’s a ‘B’ word — buffalo — so that’s a bunch, and there’s an ‘f’ in it so that means the f is at the point,” Keenum said. “Key left is the protection, which means it’s a six-man protection, they’re going to block six.”

Keenum made a point of praising the protection he got, especially in a late-game situation where 300-pound offensive linemen are running down the field in the no-huddle offense.

“The offensive line blocked their tails off. In these situations, two-minute, these defensive ends . . . they know it’s a pass so they’re literally in a track stance and they’re just rushing as fast as it can. So it started there. They were incredible,” Keenum said of his offensive linemen.

Keenum then went through his progressions and explained that he saw three other options before deciding to throw to Diggs.

“I had my guy Adam Thielen at X and he had a 7 route. The first part of that play call was 7, so he had a 7 route, which was a corner route. He had more than his share of defenders. He ran a 7 route Thurman Thomas Jersey , I really wanted to throw to him, but he was covered up,” Keenum said. “On this side we layer it. There’s three layers. Kyle Rudolph, who was at Y, he runs the quick out to the sideline. Our F, Jarius Wright, he runs an intermediate out route. And Stefon, who’s at Z, he’s got the high angle 7 heaven. There’s no timeouts left, we’re at our 39, and I remember calling the play and saying, ‘Guys, I’m going to give one of you a chance.'”

Keenum stressed that everyone on the Vikings’ offense was exhausted, given the furious pace of the final minutes of that game.

“They had just run all the way down the field and then they had to run back, and these guys are blocking their tails off, and they know I have to hold onto the ball to let these guys get down the field,” Keenum said.

Saints rookie free safety Marcus Williams was widely viewed as the villain of the play in New Orleans. Keenum praised Williams but acknowledged that it was Williams’ breakdown in coverage that keyed the big play.

“The rookie safety is a great player Scottie Upshall Jersey , had an awesome year, but he was beat, so Stefon just flattened the angle a little bit,” Keenum said. “I just threw it to the sideline. I remember I lost vision of him a little bit behind my right guard and I couldn’t really see. I knew the ball came out of my hand really, really well. Sometimes it comes out good and this came out great — I knew it was right where I wanted to put it. But I couldn’t see where Stefon was. And all of a sudden I see Stefon’s hands, his white gloves, just coming out of nowhere, and I’m like, ‘He’s gonna catch this ball.’ And he catches it. And I tell you, I’ve been in some loud stadiums, but . . . they went crazy. I mean it was nuts. It was the loudest I’ve ever heard. I’ve been in Seattle, I’ve been in Kansas City, where they set the world record for loudest outdoor stadium, but it was loud. It was so loud.”

For an instant it looked like Diggs would step out of bounds to give the Vikings a chance at a last-second field goal. That’s what the receivers had been instructed to do, but Diggs saw a clear path to the end zone and disregarded those instructions.

“Everybody was yelling the same thing I was: ‘Get out of bounds,'” Keenum said. “And he comes down and he turns back inside and this guy [Williams] overshoots it. I don’t see any of that happen. I see Stefon fall and put his hand down and I’m like, ‘No! Get out of bounds!’ And then he starts running toward the end zone and he never gets tackled Jay Novacek Jersey , and I don’t know what’s going on.”

Keenum still finds himself shocked at how the game ended.

“You talk about the best moment? It was an unbelievable moment,” Keenum said. “I still don’t believe it sometimes, that it happened. It was so crazy.”

PHOENIX — Golden State’s recent slump extended into Saturday, and it could keep the Warriors from homecourt advantage if they make the NBA Finals for the fourth straight season.

The Warriors were outscored by 10 points in the fourth quarter of a 126-120 home loss to playoff-hungry New Orleans on Saturday, and the defeat dropped them one-half game behind Toronto (57-22) for the second-best record in the league behind Houston.

Golden State is 57-23 it prepares for its final two games of the season, at Phoenix on Sunday and at Utah on Tuesday. The Warriors have had homecourt advantage the previous three Finals while winning two titles.

“You can tell the teams around the league that have to win,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters. “They’re getting after it. They’re playing for their season. Our season begins next week. We’re trying to play well and find a little rhythm going into the playoffs. We have to find ways we can play.”

The Warriors are 3-5 in their last eight and 6-9 in their last 15 since capping a seven-game winning streak with a 110-107 victory over San Antonio on March 8, with only two victories against teams with a winning record.

They await the return of Stephen Curry, who has played only one of the last 15 games. He scored 29 points in 25 minutes of a 106-94 victory over Atlanta on March 23 before being removed after suffering a grade 2 sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Curry was expected to miss at least three weeks, and Kerr said the Warriors do not expect Curry to play in the first round of the playoffs. Kevin Durant missed five weeks with an MCL sprain last season. Curry did some light stretching before the New Orleans game and has ridden a stationary bike. He is to be reevaluated next week.

“Coming along pretty well,” two-time MVP Curry told reporters. “Hopefully when the playoffs come around, I’ll be in a good condition to come back on the court as soon as possible.”

Durant had 41 points and 10 rebounds against New Orleans, and is averaging 28.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists in six games since returning from an fractured rib that cost him six games. He previously missed time with a calf strain.

Phoenix (20-60) has lost 26 of their last 28 games and still controls its own destiny for the best chance at the No. 1 pick in the 2018 draft. The Suns won the season series against Memphis three games to one, so the Grizzles (21-58) would lose (win) the tiebreaker at the bottom of the standings if the teams finished tied.

The team with the worst record has a 25 percent of getting the No. 1 pick in the May lottery and the team with the second-worst record has a 19.9 percent chance. Memphis plays host to Detroit on Sunday before closing the season with road games against Minnesota and Oklahoma City, two of the playoff contenders in the tightly bunched Western Conference.

Suns rookie forward Josh Jackson, meanwhile Andrew Luck Jersey , continues to fill up the box score in the extended absences of starters Devin Booker (hand), TJ Warren (hip) and Elfrid Payton (knee). Booker has missed the last 10 games and Warren has missed the last nine, and neither is expected to play the rest of the season.

Jackson had 22 points, 11 rebounds and two steals in a 122-103 loss to New Orleans on Friday, his eighth straight game with at least 15 points and multiple steals. Michael Jordan (10, 1984) and Allen Iverson (nine, 1997) are the only other rookies with streaks of at least eight games in those categories, according to BasketballReference.com.

Jackson had scored at least 15 points in 12 straight games, joining Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid as the only rookies to have such a streak in the last three seasons.

“Obviously I’ve come a long way, I think, and I just owe it all to being a student of the game and wanting to become better,” Jackson said.

Six-10 forward Marquese Chriss, who started at center when the Suns opted for a smaller lineup against New Orleans, had a season-high 23 points. He had 22 in the last meeting against the Warriors, a 117-107 loss in the Bay Area on April 1.

All-Pro kick returner Pharoh Cooper will be placed on the Los Angeles Rams' injured reserve list after he severely sprained his ankle in the season opener at Oakland.

Cooper will need surgery to repair his ankle Anthony Beauvillier Jersey , coach Sean McVay said Wednesday.

The injury throws an early obstacle into the path of the Rams (1-0), who won the NFC West last season with four Pro Bowlers leading their nearly flawless special teams units. All four returned this season, with All-Pro kicker Greg Zuerlein and All-Pro punter Johnny Hekker alongside Cooper and long snapper Jake McQuaide.

"What a great competitor and a tough guy," McVay said about Cooper. "It's unfortunate, but I think if there's anybody that's going to respond the right way and just do what he can to get back sooner than later, it's going to be Pharoh."

Cooper emerged as an elite kick returner last season, his second with the Rams. The South Carolina product easily led the NFL with 1,331 combined yards on kickoffs and punt returns, also finishing first in the league in yards per kickoff return (27.4) and second in yards per punt return (12.5). He also returned a kickoff 103 yards for a touchdown early in the season.

Cooper also caught 11 passes for 84 yards as a depth receiver for the Rams during the worst-to-first transformation of their offense. But his outstanding season ended on a mediocre note in the Rams' home playoff loss to Atlanta when he muffed a punt and fumbled on a kickoff return in the first half, directly leading to 10 points by the Falcons in their 26-13 victory.

With Cooper's ostensible backup Mark Stone Jersey , Michael Thomas, also dealing with injuries, the Rams' primary kick returner on Sunday is likely to be JoJo Natson, McVay said. Natson was re-signed by the Rams on Wednesday, 12 days after being waived in their late roster cutdowns.

Natson, who is also a receiver, appeared in seven games last season as a rookie with the New York Jets, returning 16 kickoffs and 16 punts after starting the season on their practice squad. He signed with the Rams in July.

He spent the past several days back home in Florida after missing out on a spot on the Rams' roster despite having a solid, occasionally exciting preseason. Natson got the call from Rams special teams coach John Fassel on Tuesday and jumped on a plane to the West Coast a few hours later.

Natson watched last weekend's games on his couch, but he'll be in uniform when the Rams open their home schedule against the Arizona Cardinals.

"I didn't expect for the turnaround to be this quick at all Youth Dion Phaneuf Jersey , but I'm just thankful for the opportunity to come around again," Natson said. "It's a tough process at first. It was always my dream to play in the NFL, but when things don't go my way, I just keep pushing on. I just stay positive."

Natson knows he is small by NFL standards. He lists himself at about 153 pounds and 5-foot-7, or "5-8 on a good day."

"It's light, but you know, you can't hit what you can't catch," Natson said. "I just go out there and just try and play with my heart, because that's what I live off, my heart Troy Brouwer Jersey , and everything else takes care of itself."

NOTES: With a short week of preparation following their Monday night game in Oakland, the Rams held only a light workout Wednesday and concentrated on the mental aspects of preparation. McVay plans to hold a regular Thursday practice as they get back into standard game preparation. ... LB Mark Barron still isn't practicing while he attempts to return from an ankle injury. ... Thomas also missed practice with a hip/groin injury.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without starting safety Daniel Sorensen for the start of the season after he had surgery to repair a broken shin bone and damage to his left knee.

Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder described the injury Saturday as a tibial plateau fracture, which involves the upper part of the shin. Sorensen also damaged his medial collateral ligament and tore his meniscus when he was hurt during a special teams drill last week.

“One of the guys fell on his leg,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said.

The injury is similar to the one suffered by J.J. Watt last year, causing the Texans defensive end to miss the rest of the season. That may be Sorensen’s fate, too, but Burkholder said the Chiefs plan to wait six weeks before evaluating him again.

“He’ll be up here today starting his formal rehab with us,” Burkholder said.

Sorensen became an invaluable part of the Kansas City secondary when Eric Berry went down with a season-ending injury last year. He went on to start 14 of the 15 games he played, picking off a pass and piling up 88 tackles while assuming a leadership role in the Chiefs’ secondary.

Berry is back from his torn Achilles tendon, and Sorensen was expected to start alongside him this season. Now http://www.greenbaypackersteamonline.com/lance-kendricks-jersey , the race is on during the final three weeks of camp for a starting job, with rookie Armani Watts, Leon McQuay and Eric Murray among those who could slide into the role.

The Chiefs also announced that Dillon Gordon had been placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, and that fellow offensive lineman Alex Officer had been signed to take his place.

Running back Charcandrick West returned to the practice field Saturday after missing more than a week with a concussion, while linebacker Dee Ford left early with an illness.

Tanoh Kpassagnon and rookie Breeland Speaks split his first-team reps the rest of the way.
