Several news organizations including Newsday reported Tuesday that the hockey team won a bid to build a new arena on the grounds of the Belmont Park racetrack, home to the third leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown each June. An announcement by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo was expected Wednesday.

The Islanders submitted a development bid for a portion of the Belmont complex in September with several partners, including owners of the New York Mets and Madison Square Garden. A spokesman for the partners declined comment on Tuesday.

The state-run Empire State Development Corp. announced in July a request for proposals to develop 36 acres (15 hectares) of vacant and underutilized parking lots at the site of the racetrack. The state also solicited bids to develop the land in 2012 but wound up scrapping all proposals a year ago.

Also bidding was the New York City FC soccer team, which envisioned building a stadium on the site in Elmont, just east of New York City. The soccer team is partially owned by the New York Yankees.

In October, Islanders owner Jon Ledecky said the team will play at Barclays Center in Brooklyn through the end of next season and the ”singular focus” beyond that was for a new arena at Belmont Park.

The team played at the Nassau Coliseum from its inception in 1972 until 2015, winning the Stanley Cup every year from 1980 to 1983. The move to the Brooklyn arena was greeted with displeasure by fans, who always considered the team to be a Long Island staple.

”It’s long overdue,” Matt Herbert said during the Islanders’ 5-3 loss to Detroit on Tuesday night.

The team has an opt-out clause on its lease in January and can leave as early as after this season. Either side can terminate the deal effective at the end of the 2018-19 season.

Islanders captain John Tavares also welcomed the news.

”I haven’t had much time to think about it,” he said. ”But obviously believing it’s going to be official tomorrow it’s great news for the franchise, I think for us as players and our families, and mostly our fans and our fan base. Really much deserved and it’s where the team has come from and really where the identity is.”

Tavares is in the final year of six-year, $33 million contract, and the speculation has been that the team’s uncertain arena situation was factoring into the decision about his own future. However, he downplayed that.

”There will obviously be time as things progress, but whatever news today or whatever is made of tomorrow it’s not going to determine or change anything at this point Authentic Vinny Curry Jersey ,” he said.

The Islanders played a preseason game at the refurbished Coliseum, now called NYCB Live. The arena now has a capacity of about 13,000 for hockey, less than the 16,170 it had previously and the 15,795 currently at Barclays Center.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Saints running back Mark Ingram wasn’t entirely happy with his end zone dance J'Mon Moore Super Bowl LI Jersey , saying it wasn’t quite TV ready.

Ingram was pleased, however, to have scored twice in a 52-38 triumph over Detroit on Sunday and see the normally pass-happy Saints win a game with more yards on the ground than through the air.

Ironically, the Saints’ run-heavy triumph came on the heels of a decision to trade Adrian Peterson to Arizona after the veteran star running back had appeared in only four games. The move allowed the Saints to focus more play-calling for running backs on Ingram and versatile rookie Alvin Kamara, whose skills perhaps fit better in the ”West Coast” style offense designed and called by coach Sean Payton.

”We wanted to take advantage of the opportunity,” Ingram said. ”We wanted to prove that we can carry this team running the ball, receiving the ball and being playmakers for this offense.”

The tandem combined for 237 yards from scrimmage. Ingram had 114 yards rushing on 25 carries, and 36 yards receiving on five catches. Kamara gained 75 yards on 10 carries and caught four passes for 12 yards. The Saints (3-2) had 186 yards passing against Detroit (3-3).

Ingram said he wasn’t surprised the running game thrived with focus of the game plan narrowed from three running backs to two.

Left tackle Greg Robinson left the game with an ankle injury and wore a protective boot. With Freeman’s recovery time unknown, Coleman may be left in the lead role for another game, and possibly longer.

Freeman, the league’s highest-paid running back, seems likely to miss Monday night’s game at Seattle following his second concussion in four months and third in three years. That means Coleman is likely to be the man yet again for the reigning NFC champions.

Freeman spent the last two weeks of this preseason in concussion protocol and suffered a concussion against the Colts on Nov. 22, 2015 Authentic Anibal Sanchez Jersey , missing one game. He was hurt on Atlanta’s second play of last week’s 27-7 win over Dallas and did not practice Thursday.

Freeman and Coleman have formed a productive tandem, combining for more than 900 yards rushing and seven touchdowns this season. Freeman has been the first back in the rotation. Coleman has been the complement.

Now that changes. The spotlight shifts to Coleman, who acknowledged he relishes the opportunity.

”Yeah, but at the same time I’m just doing my job,” Coleman said Thursday.

”Really everything is the same. No extras. I go through the same process as each and every other week.”

Coleman proved he could be the lead back in the win over Dallas. He set season highs with 20 carries and 83 yards, and he had a 1-yard touchdown run.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll said Coleman ”plays with great speed, great big-play ability” and is ”a good catcher, route runner and all that kind of stuff.”

”He can do everything,” Carroll said. ”I think the one-two punch they’ve had with Devonta has been dynamic. If he’s going to get most of the load, he’s an explosive football player.”

Terron Ward had nine carries for 23 yards behind Coleman against the Cowboys and appears set to again play a backup role versus Seattle.

The Falcons added more depth at running back by signing Terrence Magee from the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad on Wednesday.

Freeman negotiated a five-year, $41.25 contract extension before the season that makes him the league’s highest-paid running back in terms of the overall package.

Freeman’s average salary in the new deal is $8.25 million. Coleman Authentic Austin Jackson Jersey , the third-year back from Indiana, is earning $680,000.

The money is far different, but Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan said his respect for the two backs is the same.

”We trust both those guys,” Ryan said. ”I don’t think anything changes in the run game for sure. I usually don’t even think about who’s in there when we’re calling run plays.”

Coleman appears bound for only his fourth career start and his first since his 2015 rookie season.

Wide receiver Julio Jones said the probable change of starting running backs ”doesn’t affect the offense at all by any means.”

”Tevin is a great back,” Jones said. ”He’s a one. Freeman is a one.”

Coach Dan Quinn wouldn’t say if Freeman’s time in the concussion protocol will be affected by his earlier concussion in the preseason.

”That’s the times when you lean on Tevin more,” Quinn said. ”We did that in the game. We’re fortunate we have Terron as well, who can also play in some roles.”

The Falcons needed more depth at running back after the Bengals signed Brian Hill from Atlanta’s practice squad.

Quinn said the Falcons have followed Magee since he played at Louisiana State. He had his first practice with the Falcons on Thursday.

Magee had three carries for 12 yards in two games with the Seahawks in 2016. He was signed by Baltimore as an undrafted free agent following the 2015 NFL draft.
