Webb took advantage of his opportunity to play for Eli Manning Jeff Petry Jersey Kids , throwing a go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter to help the New York Giants beat the Detroit Lions 30-17 Friday night.
"Everyone says that wins don't matter in the preseason, but they leave a much better feeling in the locker room," Giants coach Pat Shurmur said.
Webb was 14 of 20 for 140 yards with an 8-yard TD pass to Wayne Gallman Jr., who scored for a second time later in the game. Webb showed poise in the pocket and touch down the field, connecting on a perfectly lofted 40-yard pass to Russell Shepard to set up Aldrick Rosas' 55-yard field goal in the second quarter.
"I just wanted to hit the reset button on everything that happened last week," Webb said.
Manning, a two-time Super Bowl MVP, was a healthy scratch.
Webb, a 2017 third-round pick Ray Nitschke Jersey , played well after performing well last week. He was 9 of 22 for 70 yards, sailing passes over open receivers in the preseason opening loss against Cleveland to raise some concerns about whether he's ready to be the team's No. 2 quarterback.
"I was very happy to see Davis Webb bounce back that well as a starter," Shurmur said. "He made significant improvements from last week to this week, and that shows why we have so much confidence in him. I thought he was calmer and he did a very nice job."
The Giants rested rookie running back Saquon Barkley with a strained hamstring and didn't test receiver Odell Beckham Jr.'s surgically repaired ankle.
Giants rookie quarterback Kyle Lauletta, a fourth-round pick, scrambled and scored on a 10-yard run in the third quarter to put the Giants ahead 17-3. Gallman took an inside handoff and bounced to the outside on an 11-yard run to put New York up by three TDs early in the fourth.
The Lions started Matthew Stafford after sitting him in last week's game at Oakland and he didn't have much time to make plays behind a porous offensive line. Stafford was 2 of 5 for 51 yards and was sacked twice and hit once as he threw.
Detroit coach Matt Patricia, though, refused to blame the guys up front.
"I don't think we played particularly well at any position," he said.
Jake Rudock replaced Stafford in the second quarter and finished 23 of 30 for 171 yards with a TD. Rudock came back in the fourth Charles Haley Jersey , relieving veteran Matt Cassel, who threw an interception.
Even though it was just a preseason game, Patricia was clearly not happy with his players, staff and himself.
"We got to do a better job and it starts with me," he said. "We've got to get these guys ready to go. We obviously have a lot of work to do."
INJURIES
Giants: RB Jalen Simmons left the game in the second half with a concussion. Shepard left the game in the fourth with a finger injury.
Lions: LB Steve Longa appeared to hurt his right knee when he tried to tackle Lauletta on his TD run in the third quarter. After being evaluated on the field, Longa walked off the field slowly and went toward the locker room.
HE'S BACK
Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah played for the first time this preseason, coming back from an undisclosed injury that kept him out of the beginning of training camp.
"I noticed him on a couple plays," Patricia said. "It was good that he was out there, working hard."
NATIONAL ANTHEM
There were no player protests during the national anthem. The Lions Ryan Kerrigan Jersey , as they did last week, stood on the sideline with their arms locked together. The Giants all stood at attention and many players held their right hand over their heart.
PREGAME CHAT
Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders met Barkley before the game, chatted briefly and posed for some pictures.
"He's put together," Sanders said.

Free agent cornerback Bashaud Breeland hasn’t had a team to work out with all offseason, so he’s going to go see as many as he can to try to get caught up.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com, Breeland has visits this week with the Colts and Browns, in addition to previously reported trips to see the Raiders and Chiefs. The Cardinals also had him scheduled for a visit earlier this offseason.
After a productive stint with Washington, he signed a three-year Josh Jones Jersey , $24 million contract with the Panthers early in free agency, only to fail his physical because of a cut on his leg that became infected and needed months to heal.
He’s a solid cover player when well, which indicates why so many teams are interested in him now, even though no one’s going to pay him what he’d have gotten in March.

A nine-game stretch against the National League’s three last-place teams — Miami Jeff Petry Jersey Kids , Cincinnati and San Diego — seemed like a chance for the St. Louis Cardinals to fatten their record and make a surge up the National League Central ladder.

Now the Cardinals (36-30) will have to get their work done against better teams. Beginning with the opener of a three-game series Friday night in Busch Stadium against the Chicago Cubs (38-27), they play 19 straight games against teams that currently have winning records.
What’s more, they’ll play this weekend without their most consistent hitter, first baseman Jose Martinez, who leads the team in all three Triple Crown categories (.321 average, 10 HR, 42 RBIs). He’ll miss the series on paternity leave in Venezuela.
“It’s a big series for us Womens Robin Lehner Jersey , but that’s a monumental life event,” St. Louis manager Mike Matheny said.
Luke Voit will be recalled from Double-A Springfield to replace Martinez on the roster. The big right-handed hitter could get a couple of starts this weekend as Chicago will trot out left-handed starters Jon Lester and Jose Quintana.
Lester (7-2, 2.22 ERA) gets the call in the series opener, which, if this year’s form is any indication, may become a pitcher’s duel. He’ll be opposed by right-hander Michael Wacha (8-1, 2.47), who will seek his ninth straight win.
Lester is coming off a 2-0 win Saturday at Wrigley Field against Pittsburgh, allowing only one hit in seven innings with two walks and five strikeouts. In his last eight starts, Lester is 5-1 with a 1.63 ERA Reilly Smith Jersey , and he hasn’t permitted a run in his two starts this month.
He’s 1-0 in two starts this year against the Cardinals, permitting only two earned runs in 11 1/3 innings. In his career against St. Louis, Lester is 6-4 with a 2.22 ERA in 16 starts, limiting hitters to a .220/.282/.344 slash line.
Wacha hasn’t lost since March 31 against the New York Mets and is building a case for his second All-Star appearance. In his last start on Saturday, Wacha beat Cincinnati 6-4, permitting four hits and two runs in 5 2/3 innings with three walks and six whiffs.
He has faced the Cubs once this year, working 5 1/3 innings and yielding two runs (one earned) on May 6 in a no-decision as the Cardinals won 4-3 in 14 innings. But Wacha has been rocked most of his career against Chicago, as he’s 4-7 with a 6.12 ERA in 17 outings, including 15 starts.
Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo has had his way with Wacha, going 18-of-40 in his career with three homers. Chicago teammates Ian Happ Youth Tyler Pitlick Jersey , Kris Bryant and Willson Contreras also have two homers each against Wacha.
The Cubs lost two of three in Milwaukee this week, suffering 4-0 and 1-0 losses in the series’ final two games and falling 1 1/2 games behind the Brewers in the Central.
“We almost should be grateful we won one of three,” Chicago manager Joe Maddon said. “We played well the first game, then shutout, shutout.”
Mitchell Trubisky is in a meeting room with Chase Daniel every day. Yet, the Bears starting quarterback had no idea who his backup was when Daniel went undercover as an autograph-seeking fan.
Daniel wore a Trubisky jersey, sunglasses and a bucket hat, while carrying a Sharpie and a roster. He mingled with other fans on the other side of the fence, asking players for their autographs as a team website crew filmed the entire thing.
Most players recognized Daniel for who he is. Trubisky did not, and it doesn’t appear coach Matt Nagy did either.
Trubisky was leaving the field when Daniel asked Trubisky to sign his jersey. Trubisky never looked up as he signed for Daniel. Daniel thanked him and left.
Trubisky asks Chris Tierney Jersey , “Who was that?” Told it was Daniel, Trubisky said, “No?!” before bursting into laughter.
