SEC Launches its Own Fake ICO to Warn Investors
Yesterday, the US Securities and Exchange Commision (SEC) announced a new initiative to educate investors about fraudulent ICOs. The regulator has launched its own ICO (HoweyCoin) with a complete website showcasing the ICO pre-sale, team and whitepaper. However, the HoweyCoin is fake and the users who try to participate in the sale are redirected to the SEC's educational website, which reads:
“If You Responded To An Investment Offer Like This, You Could Have Been Scammed – HoweyCoins Are Completely Fake!”
