JPMorgan Trial Puts Debt Issuance on a Blockchain
JPMorgan Chase has partnered with National Bank of Canada and other major firms to trial a blockchain platform aimed to improve the debt issuance process. According to Reuters, the platform was tested seeking to streamline origination, settlement, interest rate payments and other processes. Participants in the experiment included Goldman Sachs Asset Management, the fund management arm of Goldman Sachs Group Inc (GS.N), Pfizer Inc (PFE.N) and Legg Mason Inc’s (LM.N) Western Asset. The National Bank of Canada Vice president, David Furlong, stated:
“Blockchain-related technologies have the potential to bring about major change in the financial services industry."
