How a lot of Reddit memes became the best armor in Runescape from StevenCao's blog

Old School Runescape, the proudly antiquated model of Runescape that still looks and performs like the match I sank countless hours in to when I really should've been studying safest place to buy osrs gold , is obtaining a raid. Its next raid, as it happens: The Theatre of Blood. A fantastic raid requires good rewards, therefore when the Theatre of Blood was declared late last year, players were not able to see what clearing the multi-man challenge could earn them. Jagex reacted with Justicar armor, a new best-in-slot armor place (above). There was one small problem: players totally hated it.

In fact, they hated it so much that, for months, the Old School community dogpiled the horn on the 2007scape subreddit and memed it into hell and back. They memed on it so hard that Jagex is currently totally altering the armor's design. And not just that, the artist behind the Justicar armor,"Mod West," is utilizing designs submitted and voted on by players. Almost all of Old School Runescape's updates undergo participant polls, but this is the first time a suit of armor was forged in a passion of memes.

The irony is that while gamers hated the'final' armor revealed earlier this year, they loved the prototypes revealed while the raid was declared. Originally, the Justicar armor was bulkier and part of a trio of new armor sets, West informs me, but as the Theatre of Blood went from vague idea to actual material, the armor changed with it. Players said there was sufficient DPS gear but not enough tank equipment, so it had been narrowed down to only 1 armor collection. And if they were just going to use one group, Jagex guessed they might as well create a new one based on the armor worn with the raid's big bad.

"We believed changing it up a bit made sense," West says,"but players were not quite on board with the first proposal we shared stream. And then, well, Reddit went wild."

The memes came hard and fast. Some players said it was too much like existing armor, such as armor from Runescape 3, the newer, mainline version of Runescape. Others thought the new armor did not look tanky enough and liberally provided a few alternatives, with some calling for a more extreme redesign.

It got so bad that some players began to seriously believe that a meme that the updated armor was by another artist, which the artist who left the prototypes had abandoned Jagex. But something amazing happened. Even as memes blotted out the sun, slowly but surely severe suggestions started to glow through. It started with primitive Photoshop jobs, but soon appropriate examples and fan art best website to buy osrs gold began to crop up. Players rallied around the notion of a milder, blessed armor group inspired by the Runescape god Saradomin, so they went back into West's prototype layouts and made a few adjustments.
