"What the memes brought" from StevenCao's blog

"When I first pitched into the community over Twitch, I had been anticipating buy OSRS gold a bit of a response," West says. "Because when you're showing best-in-slot items, you've either got no response--which is exactly what you're aiming for really because so they're happy--or you get a very loud response which, as we have all seen on Reddit, is exactly what occurred. Of course, what I didn't anticipate was to get another artist to pop in. However, when Legend_Arts posted his concept where he left it bright and shiny, it made like 10,000 upvotes on Reddit, which is why I subsequently went on the livestream to let them see me build it."

"it is a much more favorable position to be in than everybody just complaining and shouting. We were lucky. But exactly what the memes attracted, that was so good about this example, was real individuals who really wanted to put together good layouts. As much as there were memes, the good ideas that people liked were not overshadowed."

Legend_Arts submitted his hybrid armor on April 9. The same day, West chose some player-made concepts to use. Two days later, he staged the procedure for turning the most popular ones into in-game versions. Two days after that, he shared a couple of variations complete with polls to once again let players shape the armor. And he was not just spitballing. Players provided the metal, and now Jagex is hammering it into shape.

"What I worked on a week will be the very first design the players enjoyed," West says. But at that point I would already put out to make either, so what I'm gonna do is create the other group in-game and we will have an official poll so that they can finally decide which one they want. I don't really mind which one wins. I enjoy the one players "

For many the memes, the Justicar armor fiasco is a superb illustration of the advantages of a player-inclusive strategy, especially for an MMO. Sure, some Old School players only want to watch the world burn off, but most truly want to help increase the game. In this case, they were not happy, they offered suggestions, and because Jagex acted on them, everybody is becoming a much better raid.

Being recognized that way by the devs is excellent, it brings the community to the dev side. ... RuneScape gold A great deal of opinions were questioning how it seems to be an artist becoming so much honest criticism, and I feel like that's the stuff you learn from. If you're going to ignore negative criticism, you might as well dismiss all criticism. It is enjoyable, but it takes a few decades to get used to."
